UPDATE: BE CAREFUL!!! If you put a friend on your emergency contact, and then REFER them through their referral program (up to $100), you WILL NOT get the $100 referral bonus because they are on your 'emergency contact.' I was completely ripped off by their referral program because the person I referred was on my emergency contact list, and they are spending over $600 per month on a storage unit LONG TERM. Also, I was called by the district manager, and this sums up the phone conversation. *Ring Ring* Hello? -Yes, this is the manager for sentinel storage. Why you so unhappy? Why the google review? *Your employees didn't reveal to me that my storage rate would go up every 6 months, I'm not happy considering I plan on being there long term. Also, you ripped me off with the referral program. -Oh your not happy? How about we hold your rate until January of 2026. After that though, your rate goes up every 6 months. *Oh okay, well I'll take the lock in rate, thanks, but there's no guarantee I will stay after that* -Okay great, can you please update your google review? *Sure, but keep in mind that it's against google's TOS to ask your customers to change their review.* Company doesn't disclose the fact that they will increase your rent only 6 months after you've been there by almost 20%. This information was not portrayed to me at all upon signing my rental agreement. Sneaky business practices. Just make sure you understand that you rent WILL go up by a lot after 6-9 months. My partner and I have had nothing but troubles with this company upon joining. It took them 6 weeks to fix a lightbulb in my partners storage unit. They kept making excuses. Now the company is trying to enter my partner's unit without permission to 'fix' something and demanding he give them a key. I'm sorry, but what? Something just aint right. I started out with a good experience but when I had to cancel well within the time allowed, I had my credit card compromised in the meantime. Then I have had no end of troubles trying to get my refund. They sent me an e Mastercard that wasn't accepted at either Shell or Safeway and they can't refund in any other way, like a cheque or e-transfer. I officially let them know that I have given up trying to sort this out with them as it has gone on for over a month and they keep giving up on trying to sort this out. I also said that I will never use this company again no matter how much cheaper they are than their competition! read more

This company is totally unreliable , negligent and not trust - worthy . The following is what had happened to us . About two years ago , attracted by her promise of the state of the art security system and 24- hour surveillance, we opened a storage locker with Sentinel's facility in Richmond BC. Last week , when we visited the storage to check out stuff , we were shocked to find that ALL of our valuables and goods in the locker was gone , emptied! We reported the incident to the local police immediately and then we found out the following : 1. There is NO sign of break-in into the storage . The door lock is intact, undamaged. Everything looks calm and normal outside. 2. The activity report issued by the company surprisingly shows that there is NO record whatsoever of other entrance and exit after our last visit , when at that time , we are certain that all of our belongings were still sitting in the storage locker. 3. Worst still , we discovered later for some reasons , the staff at Sentinel had decided to cancel our standard Insurance Protection Plan a few months ago without our written consent and even informing us , therefore leaving us totally exposed to this crime . 4. And this is not the end of the story. After long discussion with their senior management, we found that another insurance policy in some other people 'a name worthy of millions of dollars was mysteriously attached to our locker account a few months ago , and their staff cannot offer any reason why this has happened , non they have ever sent any notification to us . This addition development was reported to the police immediately. I am an artist , and not only I have lost all of my major artworks in the last 10 years , I have also lost my collection of artworks by my fellow artists. It is heartbreaking and devastating. Even with such a major crime at the facility , up to the time of writing , seven days after the theft is reported to the police , the company still remains silent on why such a robbery in such manner can happen under their watch and 24-hour cameras surveillance! This case is still under investigation. I sincerely hope that those who are looking for a safe place for their valuables must think twice when choosing your storage . Staff were prompt and facilities clean. Sentinel charges every 30days so more expensive than monthly. I cancelled storage but they would not pro rate that months charges and charged me a full month for only a few days storage. I asked a Regional Mgr. for a partial refund and said they would look into it and get back to me. They did not follow through on this. These guys might be ok for short term emergency storage but other storage places will offer better deals. read more

Sadly we had to relocate from our previous storage facility due to the sale of the property. Urban living in Vancouver is difficult to accomplish without an outside storage unit. For most this can be accomplished with a storage unit within the building. For those of us who do not have storage in the building, we require the assistance of places like Sentinel. The prices are reasonable, access times plentiful (accommodations can be made if the times provided do not work for you). Facility is clean and well lit and secure. Only recommendation would be when issues occur regarding billing, a phone call may be more effective than an email to rectify situations more quickly. read more

We had a very smooth experience. We gave this place five stars because: 1. Service was exceptional; Shannon helped us walk through all the steps needed to determine what would be best for our needs. We planned to come back in a few days ans she mentioned that Larry would be ready to help us then - it made for a seamless service experience. 2. Facility was incredibly clean, climate-controlled 3. Easy to get to location and ramp access/elevators for accelerated transition from care to storage room 4. Hours are incredible - longer than other locations from what I've come across 5. MY UNIIT WAS BROKEN INTO and the tresspasser had enough time to rummage through my boxes, and it is my understanding (according to the distric manager) that multiple units were broken into. We keep very few items of value, mostly sentimental, I would certianly not recomend this place if you want to store anything of value. My rent keeps going up (like multiple times a year) yet they are unable to provide secure units. I'm very disapointed. I never write negatie reviews but feel the need to let people know what happened to us so they can make an informed decsion. read more

Clean, secure, and accessible storage units can be hard to find. But the 8866 Laurel Street storage was all three of those for us to date. As well, we've found the customer service to be good. It was closing time when we initially showed up to rent a unit and the guy worked an additional 30 minutes to get us set up. He could have easily said, "come back during business hours" but he didn't. Though I personally hate paying for storage away from our home, if you have to, this is a good location to do it from. read more

Stay away from this place!!!! I left a deposit for a storage locker and Elizabeth called me and said you need to come pay for this locker right now or we are giving it away. Sick as a dog I brought my son to sign for the locker (within 45 min) and she informed me the locker had been given away!!! Horrible customer service. MIsinformed when I called them. I was quoted $212 taxes included and ended up paying $309. I asked over the phone if they still offered a complimentary truck to move out (I have used Sentinel's services before). I was told yes. At the location they said they don't offer that service anymore. The Regional Manager Kelly was approached by her staff with regards to this situation and her answer was "there is nothing we can do." Very poor management in terms of dealing with customers issues when the company is at fault. I would never use this place again, neither would I recommend it. read more

I no longer need my storage unit at Sentinel, & because I cancelled within a certain amount of time, they are refunding me a full month...it was pre charged, but the point is they gave it back. Great customer service. read more

Sentinel storage is the best facility I have ever rented from. The access is excellent and the place is always clean and well kept. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is because the chicken wire tops are susceptible to setting off alarms when moved. Other than that I am very happy with Sentinel and would recommend them to anybody who asked. read more
