**INITIAL REVIEW** I've been wanting to dine at Senzu Noodle Bar and Boba (which I will shorthand simply to Senzu for the remainder of this review) for the longest time, simply because it is relative to the Dragonball Series. Ever seen what happens to anyone who eats a senzu bean? Back to the review, I finally got the chance to go into Senzu, ready to dine on both noodles and boba. I mean it is in the name, right? Upon entering, the ambiance is a cross between modern restaurant and traditional ramen shop. I noticed the long wall bar where patrons would line up and enjoy their bowls of ramen during their lunch break, but I also recognize the tables for formal dine-in. As for ordering, they have the traditional face-to-face ordering along with a "contactless" kiosk. Senzu offers a decent range of appetizers, mains centered on noodle dishes such ramen, yakisoba, and udon, rice bowls, and boba. There are more to list, but the aforementioned is the primary bulk of the menu. From said menu, I ordered miso chicken ramen and Thai boba tea. The ramen was very flavorful, with a decent amount of ramen, add-ons, and chicken for $16.00. The Thai boba tea was good too at $4.00. Yes, I will say the price is a bit on the high side these days, but the price of food is going up in general. There is also a specials menu, made new every single day or week. One of the specials on said menu was unagi on rice, or grilled eel with tare glaze on rice. Since it was a special, it had the special price, too, at $20. Not complaining, but take note that specials definitely have special pricing. Was it good? It was, but definitely had better. As a matter of fact, I have had better of each of the food items I ordered. Still, you can't go wrong eating here at Senzu, unless you want to spend a little less. But you know what? I would not expect any less from the same people who own So-Ju Chicken and Bakudan Street Food. Ultimately, I will give Senzu a solid four-out-of-five star rating for this review. Definitely a good place to eat, and a new restaurant to enjoy such food. If they are consistent with their food and presentation (service included), I will grant them their fifth star for consistency. read more

This place is definitely a hidden gem! The Animae wall paper all over is so cool, it is the comic book pages. In the bathroom it is even decorated! The worker was very nice. I ordered my meal to go and it was very easy to do so. Sometimes those online ordering systems are complicated. My order was ready quickly. We decided to sit inside and eat. The place was clean! The pork ramen was super good! There was a lot of broth included. I saw an add on for extra noodles so I will definitely do that next time. The rice bowl was good, I had yum yum sauce on there. I have been wanting to try this noodle bar for sometime and finally had the opportunity. I was absolutely not disappointed some of the best boa buns I have ever eatenTheir Senzu fries are phenomenal... I have been telling everybody about this place and wanting to go back ever since I walked out the door. The girl at the counter was friendly and patient while we looked over the menu deciding what we were going to order. The food came fast and, like I said, absolutely delicious!! Shouldn't expect much for a beach town so was just okay to me for a ramen joint. If you don't have high expectations and just want ramen then go for it! The pho restaurant (pho cali) that's owned by the same people had much better food imo, even though it's not the same kind of food selection. The pro of this place is that they make their own broth which had good flavor. Everything else was mediocre to me, not the best ramen joint and there are much much better ones in Orlando. The Udon soup noodles was decent but I'm not usually a fan of that and it isn't hard to mess up. For my ramen, the pork belly wasn't smoked so didn't melt in ur mouth, but the egg was done decently well though and would recommend getting that as an extra if you like ramen eggs. Honestly, props to Senzu's owner, because this was pretty great Japanese fusion for Melbourne-- comparable to spots in SF! Dope staff & anime/manga decor. This was our first meal in town and I'm seriously impressed. For COVID safety purposes, hand sanitizer is provided, and tables are sanitized between visitors. Being Florida, masks were not enforced (even more reason to wear it, tbh). Parking in the strip mall lot is easy to find. The employees are phenomenally attentive & friendly, more than happy to answer any questions and chat. CHICKEN RICE BOWL: Americanized, but undeniably tasty. Comes loaded with veggies and protein. Chicken's stir fried in some teriyaki-style sauce that complements the white sauce well. TIGER BROWN SUGAR MILK TEA (less sweet, no ice): Yikes... Overcooked af and wayyyyy too sweet. I never turn boba down, and this was hard to drink. The pearls were gummy and left an odd aftertaste. My bf's ramen had excellent broth-- hard to come by. I'm a fan. "Bao" was mediocre. Egg roll was of the frozen/reheated variety. Both about 2.5 stars. Udon "house specialty" had zero flavor and the pork tasted tough and old. No (good) flavor. 1 star. Not being familiar with the nuances of Ramen, we saw the ratings for Senzu Noodle Bar and we had to give it a try. The Ramen that we are familiar with is the one that comes in a package with a flavor packet. The girl that greeted us was friendly, recognized or ramen rookieness and gave us some suggestions. We had the Miso Chicken Ramen and the Beef Fried Rice. The Miso broth was rich and hardy, the ramen noodles and egg were cooked to perfection. The Fried Rice was flavorful and not greasy, as in others we had. The motif on the walls of the restaurant were tastefully done with anime drawings. So my wife and I love watching travel food videos. Lately we have been on a kick about Asian food. Mainly Chinese. We keep seeing these delicious Bao buns being served all over the place. We decided we needed to try it. Enter Yelp. Type "bao buns" in search, first place that pops up is Senzu Noodle Bar. 15 mins from home. LFG. Checked the menu online and planned our meal. I'd suggest doing this a because it is not a sit down and order place. You order at the counter, they give you a number, and food gets delivered. This will help to not hold up the line. It's not a "hole in the wall", but it's hidden. When we arrived, they were busy. It was noon on a Saturday. 5-6 tables full and 3 people waiting for takeout. We knew what we wanted (see above) and proceeded to order. 2 pork baos, 1 pork fried rice, and 1 fried dumpling. We also got a Strawberry Boba tea. Once we ordered we sat down. Place is decorated in anime wallpaper. It's awesome. Food took 5 mins to come. Like super fast. And it was amazing. The baos are like little tacos. Super soft steamed baos bread, with pork and cabbage in it. Almost tasted like coleslaw. They were AMAZING. The fried rice was surprisingly sweet. But in a good way. Adding a little soy made the umami really kick. The fried dumplings were great as well. The sauce with them was delicious. The only thing we didn't like was the boba. It was just too sweet. I'd probably try's matcha or something next time. Either way, I saw the ramen being served and it looked amazing. We are gonna head back next week for noodles and see how they are. Hubs and I went to Senzu for some local ramen. Senzu was recommended by a friend and it delivered. I ordered the lunch special and it was the perfect size... actually enough to share with my husband (he wasn't super hungry). The staff was super friendly and helpful while ordering. The owner or manager was there and answered some questions we had like noodles come from Hawaii specially made for them (super cool). Let me start by saying I really really wanted to like this place with it being so close to where I live, but the food let's me down every time. The ramen always has overcooked pork...where it's tough and hard to chew. The rice bowls are bland and flavorless. The customer service is very bad. I have been in about three times and each time I hope it will be better, but it's not. That alone makes me never want to visit. I discovered this little Melbourne jewel after eating at So-Ju Chickn on Wickham rd. I had trouble locating their menu online and discovered Senzu owned it. The tonkatsu soup had a delicate yet rich broth with so much mouthwatering beefy flavor. More rich and hardy than many other ramens I have had! The noodles were perfect! Chewy and flavorful! The chashu was...just ok. Usually my favorite part of a tonkatsu ramen is the pork belly but this felt soggy and not as fresh, thick or as firm as I was hoping it would be. The egg was marinated in soy and had the perfect pop! Oh how I love mandated runny egg!!! The chicken was CRISPY! The fries? Some of the best I've ever had! The secret? I'm guessing panko breading? The bao buns were plump and bouncy, filled with yummy marinated veggies but alas the pork was in small pieces. I adore pork belly bao buns and wanted to love these, but it felt more like sausage due to the lack of it being thick seared sliced of pork. Horrible! No flavor. Spicy yum sauce is not spicy at all. I was charged regular and not the lunch special. It comes with pickled vegetables. My vegetables were not pickled. Spring rolls lacking vegetables in them. Disappointed. Answer to Manager: I went back inside the restaurant and requested spicy yum yum after tasting the sauce, and the cashier said that was what they had. She offered me chilly oil, and I accepted. Also, one of the cooks said that was the spiciest yum yum sauce your store served. It was for white people. I was shocked. Please stop making up stories. Listen, I thought about letting this slide and not posting a review because the woman on the cash register was very nice and I thought maybe I caught them on a bad day. BUT then I saw the nasty responses back to others who have rated poorly (which I wish I read prior) and realized I actually agree with with them about the food. The soup was bland, my noodles where soggy, the egg was overcooked, and the bok choy & carrots were fine I guess. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt because clearly there was no cultural substance and also because I ordered the veggie ramen. However, I have had veggie ramen many many times before and of course have had some mediocre ones but this just made me sad. I would really urge this business to do better... Senzu Noodle Bar- West Melbourne, FL- 1 Star Melting Pot (Noun) - a place where a variety of peoples, cultures, or individuals assimilate into a cohesive whole. --Merriam-Webster Dictionary I was taught that America was the ultimate melting pot. Looking around, anyone can see that this is so. I mean, you can get a tuna roll and some ramen at a baseball game, along with a hot dog, bratwurst and an ice-cold brew. If that is not mixing cultures, I don't know what is. This is a good thing and I never thought I would think otherwise until my name generator flashed the name Senzu Noodle Bar across the screen. I know that traditionally, Ramen is a Japanese dish taken from the Chinese in the 1860s after reopening her borders to the outside world...gunship diplomacy at its best. I also know that I am a citizen of the greatest melting pot culture the world has yet seen, but ya still have some expectations walking into a joint. What I did not expect to find is, according to Skyler, the unhelpful Gen-Z employee, a vividly Vietnamese decorated restaurant with Japanese Manga, a Japanese Menu with Thai ice tea (referred to "milk" tea and all the rage these days), blaring loud unintelligible music and exhaust fans so that your ears bleed. An interesting mix of motifs, but whatever works (hint--this does not). After having a few minutes to look over the menu, I was approached by the aforementioned Skyler. Did I mention she was exceedingly unfriendly and petulant? I get that we are all going through our own stuff, but you have to be an adult and leave it outside of your place of employment. I did manage to get in an order of the Shio Chicken and some fried tofu. As my server sulked away with the order, I again took in my surroundings. All I could think of was that Tokyo Disney, Shanghai Disney and a yet-to-open Disney in Bangkok pulled an all-nighter and puked all over the place. It was a complete mish-mash of Asian cultures. Thankfully, my too young to be so curmudgeonly mannered waitress arrived with my food. Well, thankful that it forced my eyes off the walls, but other than that... El Pollo Loco is a Mexican-themed chicken restaurant chain in Southern California. I mention this only as that as such, they have the highest rate of problematic issues among fast-food chains. It's not that they don't do things properly, they do, it's that they deal almost exclusively with chicken and as we all know chicken is very touchy when it comes to being fresh. It goes in a second when left out for any length of time. I don't know if that is what they did here, but this chicken was so foul it threw the entire dish off. The Fried tofu tasted like, well, fried tofu. The yum yum sauce tasted fresh out of a bottle and the other concoction "The House Sauce" I didn't dare try. We took our boys here since both LOVE anime, plus had heard good reviews. Got there after 4 on a Friday, was pretty empty but that was our goal. We ordered the takoyaki and steamed chili oil dumplings to start. My husband got the beef udon (no pictures, he told me not to be weird...too late! Lol) my oldest got the beef ramen, youngest got the miso porky and I got the shoyu ramen special with some delicious pork belly. Tiger milk tea with Boba and strawberry fruit tea with Boba. Everything was FANTASTIC! Large portions, we all brought half ours home. Definitely will be back and highly recommend. Full disclosure: I've never had ramen before and never considered myself a ramen or "soup" person, but I gave it a shot and I'm STOKED I did. Turns out I just wasn't a soup person because I wasn't having good broth. The broth makes the entire dish. I got the Tonkotsu Ramen and my partner got the spicy Beef Ramen. Both broths were amazing, but I did prefer the tonkotsu. It was perfect, savory, with all the right notes and even a little sweetness at the back. So good! The corn and green onion really added texture and rounded out the flavors. If you like spicy foods, order extra spicy and add more spicy again. Mine was not spicy though I ordered spicy, and the extra spicy beef was not either, so pro tip there if you like the heat or add your own at home (we took take-out). Otherwise this place was spot on. The ramen eggs were the second best part of the dish, perfectly medium boiled and delicious I'd probably eat a bowl of the eggs in broth alone. I'll be going here again and look forward to trying the boba next time. read more

Not good. I've had a lot of Tonkotsu and this is, hands down the worse. A wasted $15, but I was hungry and pressed for time. The smell when brought out was not appealing--- boiled egg and cabbage. The egg was brown (from the broth)and over cooked. There was indeed cabbage and corn in the soup! No hint of sesame at all! I had to put some sriracha in the soup to give it some flavor.
