Seoul Market is a local Korean market in La Crescenta that I frequent weekly when I don't feel like driving to the nearest Asian big box supermarket stores like: H-Mart, 99 Ranch, Tokyo Central, or LAX-C. Since it's a Korean market specialty store, obviously they carry all the Korean products and groceries you will need to make a delicious Korean feast. However, Seoul Market carries many great (non-Korean items) Japanese, Chinese; and Southeast Asian, Vietnamese, Thai, Filipino products/brands that are impressive for a Korean mom n pop market. Prices are fair and produce is fresh. Great Sake section, cooking supplies, frozen goods, snacks, etc. Meat is not their strong point, but you definitely can find fresh good quality Korean BBQ meat items. I love the fruits here! The store is OCD friendly (clean and organized) and the owner is just a stellar human being. Very nice to his employees and customers. Also, they make the BEST homemade KIMBAP in town! Very disappointing experience. I brought back rotten apples and was met with rude behavior instead of help. The owner even called me afterward to blame me rather than resolve the issue professionally. Customer service and kindness go a long way, especially in a neighborhood market. Realization that it may have been cheaper to eat at a restaurant. Meat looks bit small for 2.6 lbs. Only 5 pieces, so I weighed it. That's including box and marinade. So I weighed only marinade and the box and it's almost a pound. I've been to other korean market where they usually weigh meat, then add additional sauce. The selection is solid for a small market, and you can find all the essentials, from fresh kimchi to your favorite ramen brands. The only downside was the early closing time. The store gets the job done in regards to getting basics in Korean goods: basic vegetables, seasonings, kimchi. It beats driving 10+ miles away while being in the Glendale/Burbank area where there is a huge gap in any Asian market between Van Nuys to Alhambra/Arcadia area. This is my favorite Korean market of all the others in the area. They have tons of options for Korean BBQ at home in their deli area. The shop is clean and easy to find other items you may need. The produce isle is so fresh. Honestly, the meat quality and produce section look a lot better than what you would see in big box grocery stores. They also have top notch customer service. read more

Don't go to here! They sell rotten fruits. They refunded my money but the owner was so rude. When I took this fruit back to show him, I assumed he would refund, but he was quick to respond in a rude manner and had no interest in apologizing for the rotten fruit. 10/10 would recommend this sweet mom and pop shop for any and all of your groceries and Korean goodies! - They have a huge variety of fresh produce and all the snacks and ramen you could ask for. I helped my friend out with some garden work and he couldn't afford to pay me so instead he offered to cook a nice Asian meal for the both of us. EBT has strict guidelines against buying for others but it was okay here because he was buying the ingredients for himself. The items here seem authentic and amazing! 5 stars for inventory. When we went to pay for the ingredients, there were 2 Korean clerks that gave us smiles and welcomed us with great manners! My friend then pulled out his SNAP EBT card and both women immediately looked down at us like we were lower in status than fifty-day-old kimchi! One of the ladies made a scoffing sound and walked away. I went to the car and started to cry but my friend was a good sport. He just smiled, stayed and finished paying using his SNAP card (btw he has two sick parents and works three jobs just to cover their rent, medical, in-home care, etc. but what do these ladies know? He's 'apparently' just a 'pos' for using what his taxes already pay for and the market gets paid by the state for the purchase anyway). Negative 4 stars for shaming customers, which last time I checked, were needed for a store to function? Idk. I don't have an MBA so I could be wrong about this business model. 1 star for status-shaming. BUT, honestly, 10 stars if you're a masochist and like being treated like fecal matter! Reading other reviews, the customer service here is clearly lacking in addition to the quality of ingredients. I went here to get dumpling wrappers in the refrigerated section and upon closer inspection, noted that they were all gummy and stuck together. This means they are freezing and defrosting and re-freezing their items and trying pass them off as being fresh. Hard pass. Among the three Korean markets in the vicinity, Seoul market is hands down my favorite. The owners are awesome and never fails to dote on my daughters whenever they see them. The older lady that works during the morning/afternoon time is also nice! I used to live in a neighborhood where the nearest ASIAN market was 30 minutes away. Even then- stock was limited and prices were high. After moving back to SoCal I was happy that I'll have a plethora of Korean grocery store options within 30 min (to Ktown). Turns out I don't even have to drive out to Koreatown since Seoul Market has everything I need and prices are competitive to the bigger chain markets! Sometimes I find items (mainly frozen food items) that are actually cheaper than h-mart for example! The store is usually well stocked (covid and shipping delays will probably be the only reason they don't have certain items). The meat selection carries great quality meat. The best and favorite part of Seoul market is probably their hot foods. Kimbap is readily available every morning at 8 while the hot food such as jeon, soondae, ddukbokki start rolling out around 11am. If you come anytime before then, the aroma of the food cooking in the kitchen fills the entire market. Dangerous when entering hungry! On weekends they have bossam and jokbal too! I bought the items thinking it wasnt expired, put it in my fridge and went back a week later to open my new kimchi, it has black mold. Love this market (especially meat section XD). I can pretty much get anything that I need to cook Korean food and Japanese food except chest nuts and ginko nuts (I was looking for them in Sep). If you feel that you have the right to a refund for a defective/bad product, do not shop here. We bought our usual brand of kimchi but it had almost no flavor, as if they forgot to add any seasoning, and the owner says he doesn't give refunds for taste preference. This is like saying, if you buy ice cream or candy and they forgot to add the sugar during manufacturing, resulting in no flavor, it's your taste preference and not a defect. He said he'd be out money if he refunded us, when we spend hundreds of dollars there every week, sometimes twice a week. He should recoup this loss from the manufacturer of the product. He also said he would allow us an exchange for other products of similar value, but he lost my business when he tried to blame "our preferences". We've also purchased expired/spoiled food here and they always make us feel like they're doing us a huge favor when they take it back. Was I desperate for $14? No. Was I not able to think of other things I needed for that value? Also no. I normally accept the exchange for products but found the principal ridiculous in this instance and it was the last straw. There are other Korean marts, Lotte, and a small one on the northeast corner of Foothill x Pennsylvania, and that's where we'll take our business from now on. Also adding that the owner told me that refunds are given under certain circumstances only but he does not post anywhere in the store that you can't get refunded for defective merchandise. read more
