Our favorite Argentinian market for over 40 years! Best service and our go to for meat, pizzas, empanadas and more!

    Golden glistening empanadas...

This is one of a few Argentine places that can justify the kind of mileage I have to put in to get my fix. It's not just a butcher shop, it's a mini Argentinian embassy for my taste buds. Walk in for a quick fix and walk out with enough freshly made empanadas and high quality meat to feed a small village. The selection is fantast and the staff is very friendly. The real danger of this small little shop, is the dry goods section. I can't just "shop" there. I have to gaze at their wall of snacks like a culinary historian. Seeing all those Argentine brands and dry goods triggers a massive wave of nostalgia for all the goodies my family would bring back in overstuffed suitcases every time they visited Argentina. I inevitably find myself surrendering to some alfajores. The main reason I drove here was for the sandwiches de miga. The ham and cheese is our household "fix," and I'm pretty sure my family would trade me for a fresh stack of them if given the opportunity. I always make sure to grab a few empanadas to go too. I left happy, fully stocked, and already planning the next haul.

i randomly came across an IG reel of this girl who was looking for these tea sandwiches she once had on a date and the sandwiches looks sooooo good! i was excited to see that the tagged shop was near my house so i sent my husband to get some and they did not disappoint! we got the: miga mixto sandwiches beef milanesas sandwich beef empanadas chicken empanadas ham and cheese empanadas spinach empanadas yall, EVERYTHING WAS BUSSIN! that's that the kids say haha their bread is crispy and soft, has a nice chew. all the empanadas were filled generously with quality ingredients. we loved ALL. OF. IT. highly recommend. my husband said the ladies were nice and helpful. the shop was clean and had deli, bakery and grocery offerings. the storefront is unassuming but the inside is MAGICAL!

I wasn't expecting there to be so many different empanadas to choose from, so I took a while deciding. He was really patient, answered all my questions, explained the different options, and gave me some great recommendations. I ended up getting the Beef, Chili Carne, Chicken, Spicy Potato, Santa Fe Chicken, and Spinach & Cheese empanadas. They were all really good, and I liked that they let me choose from three different sauces/salsas to go with them. Everything came out quickly and was packaged really well. They even included a list showing which empanada was which, which I really appreciated since they all looked pretty similar once they were in the box. I actually came for the empanadas, but they also had fresh pasta and decided to give it a try. I'm really glad I did because it was excellent. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, the sauce was delicious, and honestly I'd come back just for the pasta. There are still a bunch of things on the menu I want to try, especially the sweet empanadas, so I'm already looking forward to my next visit. Great food, friendly people, and a really welcoming experience. I'd definitely recommend checking them out!

World Empanadas has so many empanadas flavors to choose from. I tried a bunch of flavors and I liked all of them! My favorites were the Santa Fe chicken, breakfast, spinach, and the chile con carne. They all had amazing flavor. The order came with a big serving of chimichurri and that was a nice addition to the empanadas. World Empanadas also has breakfast burritos that I am interested in trying next time. Since I don't live close, this is my new stop when I'm going to Burbank airport. World of Empanadas is amazing and I highly recommend getting their empanadas!

We ordered the Chicken Alfredo, a Pechuga ala parrilla, and a Choripan sandwich. All were delicious but the real superstars of the afternoon were the empanadas. It's fresh, tasty Argentinian comfort food that hits exactly where it's supposed to. This is a small, family-run place with just a handful of staff, you have to be prepared for the service to move at a slightly more relaxed pace. But in a world where everything is rushed and impersonal, there's something genuinely charming about a place that takes its time to get the food right. Our server was incredibly friendly and attentive, checking in on us frequently. I'm always on the hunt for a Piroshki, one of my favorite delights that I think originated in…read moreRussia and is East European by origin. I think Papillon is Armenian which I believe has European cuisine, as Armenia is considered geographically to be within Western Asia (the Middle East) and the South Caucasus region. Sitting within the mountainous Armenian Highland, it acts as a transcontinental bridge between Eastern Europe and Asia. Their Piroshki is long and thin, whereas I'm accustomed to them being robust short stocky and round almost resembling a giant baked potato in size and shape. So these look like a "Chinese Donut" a.k.a. Youtiao (油条) in size and shape, same girth but length maybe 6"-8" long. What I liked is the filling of the Beef was minced ground beef with sauteed onion bits mixed into a blend and seasoned with a bit of spice but overall was very moist and juicy and the fried dough was very good. So, I'd recommend that. Oddly, I tried the Beef and Potato reluctantly thinking the pure beef option was going to be better... and the Potato was soft and perfect so I'm thinking they're equally good depending on your mood. I tried the beef empanada, and it was very good, similar flavor of the beef empanada to the piroshki but not exactly the same, otherwise I might say the empanada is bigger and gives more protein of the ground beef. The desert shaped like a peach fruit was very good. It reminded me of Asian style deserts where they're not overly sweet and has a healthy refreshing taste more so than being too overwhelming with thick sugary creams. I found out they have multiple locations. It feels maybe the Armenian and Russian community in So Cal are more toward this area and The Valley, so I do have to take what could be a 60-90 minute journey to come here, and even longer of a commute to their other locations. I think they'd do well in the SBBC (South Bay Beach Cities) down South past Santa Monica but before Long Beach and Orange County. I'd recommend this place for the food and service.

Really enjoyed the first experience and so when I saw the truck again today after an early morning walk in Descanso Gardens, I stopped again to get their empanadas. This visit confirmed my initial impression which was/is that the empanadas from La Puna are "fantastic"!! I ordered four empanadas, the corn and spinach, as well as their chicken. Also ordered one called the Arabe. All four were superb!! The corn empanada was a combination of sweet, salty, and creamy. This was the result of using good quality corn and a combination of both cream and either jack or cotija cheese. The spinach empanada was equally delicious. It had a unique taste profile prompted by the really smart use of a hint of nutmeg. The combination of spinach and the nutmeg, along with whatever they included, have the final product a "wow" factor. Chicken empanada was slightly smokey and very flavorful, and the "Arabe" was a wonderful combination of ground beef, onion, red bell peppers, with spices that offered a distinctly Moroccan taste. Really outstanding. The thing that tied all these different empanadas together was the dough they use to make them. It was firm while still light and flaky with a mouth feel that was soft but not mushy. It was the perfect compliment to the filling. Like eating a really, really good pie where the filling and the crust are harmonious. The food offered by La Puna Empanadas reflects attention to detail, the use of really good product, and most importantly pride in their Argentinian culture and it's food. If you enjoy empanadas or are curious about them, I encourage you to try those offered by La Puna for all the reasons I've outlined here.
