I love this Sephora at Burlingame, but I mostly come here when Jesus is here (he works in the morning shifts). I am one of those people that buy something that thinks looks good on me and when I go outdoors it looks totally different and not that good. I was so lucky I have met Jesus one morning at the store because he is an expert at matching your skin tone with any lipstick color you are looking for! I have purchased 3-4 lipsticks & lip liners and all were recommended by him! Every time I meet Jesus he picks 1 or 2 colors and matches me right away. My favorite one he picked was my red lipstick that he told me would look great on me. I had so many compliments every time I go out! If you have any questions about any kind of make up he tells you which ones will go with your skin tone. He even recommended me to use bronze with my lipsticks and I looked great!. He is also super sweet and nice! He genuinely cares and makes you feel & look gorgeous with the products he picks. I will totally recommend this Sephora and especially Jesus if you (like me) have no idea what colors look good on you! read more

This location always takes good care of me. The skin care doctors, Olga and Jennifer, spent time educating me on how to take better care of my skin. We went over my current skin care routine and found a wayyyy better solution. I have extremely sensitive skin so I am always skeptic to new products. They provided options and helped me make decisions. I never felt like they were trying to up sell me. They also provided samples. I will definitely come back here again! I love Sephora!!! Whats not to love if you are a girly girl?? I want to get in and get out because you are constantly stared at like you are going to steal something. The worst part is you are approached at least 3 or 4 times with "Is there anything that I can help you find." I am all smiles the first time and the second. The third time the smile starts to fade and by the fourth it gets hard to be polite. The last time I was in I got asked by this sales associate twice if I needed help. She didn't remember asking me the first time. I told her with a smile "You have already asked me remember."(Believe me I was very nice when I said that and thought she would laugh and I would laugh) She got pissy...and said."No it must have been someone else I was at the register." Look I am not rude or pretentious at all so if she would have given that attitude to a real rude customer who expects 6star service she would have gotten reamed. You are not suppose to argue with the customer even if they are so wrong its scary. I left right away and headed to Ulta. Go to Sephora in Palo Alto it is a lot better. read more

I stopped into Sephora looking for a specific fragrance. I was stunned at the number of employees on a weekday at 3 in the afternoon! I counted 12! And except for the guy who yelled at me from the far end of the fragrance counter "You need help!?", I did not encounter another "sales" associate. This was interesting, since he gave a look to another employee who came to assist. He remained chatting with yet another sales associate. Everyone else seemed very busy in their own conversations or reapplying their considerable makeup. I'm guessing Sephora offers deep discounts for employees based on the amount of foundation, eyeliner, eyeshadow and lipstick that I saw on them. The girl who did come to assist me with my fragrance purchase never spoke a word!! Not hello, not how can I help you, nothing. If I hadn't spoken, I'm not sure we would have made a connection at all. I found the product, made my over $50 purchase and left the store. The clerk at the counter said "thanks" at the conclusion of my transaction, but other than that.....I was pretty much alone in the store. Thanks Sephora. I like my new perfume, but I think future purchases may need to done online. It's far more friendly. read more

Yesterday I went to Sephora with a friend to get some blush and they didn't have it so when I was walking toward the door that are glass doors they had them open so what I thought was an open door was not and slammed my face right into the glass. One of the employees saw that I did this and didn't even help me. I was so overwhelmed and devastated I sat outside in shock. Later that day my vision was blurry and my nose swelled up, So I went to my local Sephora and spoke to a manager to guide me. I was asked to call the store and let let them know what happened. The assistant manager said she will let the manager know and they will call me in a few days! Needless too say I was hurting and don"t feel I need to flip the bill to go get checked. I told them I have a witness and an employee at the store that was more worried about selling than helping. Its sad to say getting commission is more important than someone's well being. read more

i love sephora but this particular location doesn't seem to carry a lot of the brands i'm looking for. They carry the usual brands like Stila, Bare Escentuals, Dior, Cargo, Smashbox, NARS- to name a few. However I didn't see any Chanel, Becca or Guerlain. This is a good place to go to if you know what you plan on getting. There's plenty of parking however it is metered. read more

I'm giving the one star for the amount of different cosmetic lines they offer. But after going to this shop for almost three years, spending a ton of money annually and being a VIP on their customer list, I can honestly say this place is one of the most frustrating in terms of actual stock being available and customer service. Every single time I have gone into the store for certain items over the past year, or just to find a new lipstick like I was looking for yesterday, they do not have the the product and don't know when it will be ordered or re-stocked. I can't begin to explain how aggravating it is to go through different samples of products, finally find one that works, then find out they don't have it in stock. And the customer service is pretty terrible as well. I have to search through the drawers on my own to find a product and when I do ask for some assistance they either are too busy to help me at the moment or say well if it's not there then I guess we are out. I would much rather buy items online or go to the mall and shop at the different makeup counters than deal with this place again. Lastly I have noticed it for some time, but the smell at this store has gotten atrocious. I know that there are a lot of samples out which can lead to different smells, but it was extremely bad yesterday and literally smelt like raw sewage. There really needs to be a complete overhaul here before I consider shopping there again. read more

I usually stop by this store because it's about a 5 min drive from where I live and although it's not as big as the Union Square store it still carries most products, good enough for me! I love the Burlingame Sephora. Stopped by today for some eye shadow and for being a Holiday (Easter) they were fairly busy. Yes, I was asked about 3 or 4 times if I needed help, but, I think they pretty much do that to everyone. It's kinda of a double edged sword, if they don't ask then yelpers say they're snooty and if they do ask they are profiling you as a shop lifter. Either way they can't win. All I can say is that although they do ask several times each visit (and yes it can be annoying) if I need help, they are always very nice and polite. I would rather say no thank you a few times then spend 30 minutes trying to get help. Plus after being in the store for a bit I realized I did need help. Like today, after being asking twice I found that on the third invitation that I really did need help finding the red eye shadow my daughter was looking for. Now sometimes when a sales associate is dealing with my 16 year old daughter I notice that she gets treated like a second class citizen even though she is there to spend more money then most. The clerk was very attentive and listened to my daughter's problem (the only red shadow we could find looked more orange on her skin and she was looking for something with more blue- not too earth shattering unless your 16) Anyway, they could find anything in stock so the clerk said she would take her name and call her when the new color came in. we decided to get some other colors and went to check out. The clerk then said that the system noted that they should have 4 more left and asked if we could wait and she would go to the back (something she didn't have to do). We waited but she couldn't find it. She apologized for making us wait and said she would call us as soon as it came in (or she found the 4 in stock). She was really nice and my daughter felt good about herself so it was a win-win. read more

I was extremely unhappy with my trip to Sephora this weekend. I went in looking for a new palette and lipstick and was happy to find some good products. The palette was the best part since the customer service was unbelievable. The woman talking to me was about as disrespectful as they come. She was absolutely insulting. She rolled her eyes at me and I could tell she did not want to be helping me. Most of the workers are very kind but she ruined my day. My friend and people around me commented on her behavior. I will definitely not be coming back to this location for a while. read more

It's a nice location smaller than most but I like the feel of it better than a Costco size Sephora. The reason I'm only giving 3 starts is because they never give samples. If you ask they give you 1. Hmmm I am really unsure about this place. I love that they carry tons of different brands of make up ( especially Urban Decay and Bare Minerals) and I also love the large selection of Sephora brand make up brushes ( which are great quality and a lot cheaper than MAC brushes),they have the easiest return policy, and will give you samples of anything you want. but I am uneasy about the staff. They are welcoming. I always get a "hello" and "can I help you" when I come in , but most of them don't seem very knowledgeable about the products they sell. I came in to get matched for a foundation and the employee recommended a shade that was 3 shades darker then my skin and had the wrong undertones for me. I ended up just coming back in again and taking several samples so I could match myself up. I will come back again as it is the nearest Sephora in the Peninsula, but only when I am going to buy something specific from a specific brand. read more

this sephora is very conveniently located to me and although they don't carry some of the products i use they do have some things that i use. the sales associates are usually hit or miss. usually really nice but sometimes kind of spacey. i was in there with a friend of mine and one of the sales associates was being a little rude and snobby and although i can be a bit passive my friend said something and the other girl hooked us up with mad samples. we got four (!) vials of the brazillian peel, which retails for $75 or $78 dollars. so that was bad ass. over all not a bad place to be. read more

Out of all the times I've been to this location, I would say that my most recent visit was the best. The girl at the register (I think her name was Kit) helped me find literally every single kind of retractable eyeliner they had at the store. She guided me around the store and tested every single kind to make sure I was satisfied. In the end, they ran out of the eyeliner I had wanted to buy, but Kit offered to send it to my house with free shipping. She was so friendly and talkative and I would definitely say she had outstanding customer service. read more

I'm usually so pleased with my experiences at Sephora stores but one day I was in Burlingame and decided to buy several expensive skincare products and I am just so disappointed at the store's supervisor there. I'm a VIB member and I never leave comments on yelp but feel this is important and signed up. The cashier was very helpful but the store manager was not. I spent almost $400 there and usually I'm asked if I'm a beauty insider but this time I wasn't - so I told the cashier I was so I can get points. She informed me that she has already made the sale and that she'd just have to return everything and ring everything back up to get it into my account. At that time the store supervisor informed me that instead of wasting time with that he can just add the points if I left my email address. I thanked them both and left. Since that day after many months, I have kept calling and left messages to ask about the status as it is still not added to my account. I don't live in Burlingame to easily just go in and ask everyday to add it. And what a waste of time all this has been to begin with. It's just so disrespectful and dishonest to promise something to a loyal customer and then to ignore them for over a year. At this point, it's not even about the points at all. I'll never be returning to this location again - I want to make clear that everyone was helpful there except the lying manager at the store. He should not be supervising when he has given me the poorest service in all of my Sephora experiences. read more

I usually prefer to go to Sephora stores over Ulta because I have received better customer service, but unfortuantely, this location has not thrilled me. I have come here numerous times for products for myself along with products for my clients, seeing as I am a makeup artist, and I have worked in retail for about 7 years. I understand when times tend to get busy, but whenever I do come here, I have never been greeted by an employee, the lines are always extremely long with only 1 cashier, and if/when I have questions, either no one seems to know the answer, they are rude when answering or there simply is not an employee around to ask. Mind you I do not come in on the weekends, it's usually a week day in the early afternoon. The only reason I come here is because I happen to work in the area and it is convenient for me to pop over on my lunch break. All in all, I have definitely received greater customer service from different locations. Not my best experiences here. read more

You are repeatedly asked like 6 times if you need help. It's just a tad annoying and it interupts your experience completely. Once i finally got helped this hispanic guy i believe named jesus approached me. He walked up to me and gave me the dirtiest look he asked what i needed but didnt even care to mention that i had accidentaly had gotten some bright pink lipstick all over my face so rude! The store is nice and has a really good variety HOWEVER the associates are rude and do not want to help you, I waited for 15 minutes for someone to help me after approaching one of the representatives ( I had to approach her cause everyone was ignoring me) she kept telling me she would be with me shortly. After a while I saw another associate walking around joking with her coworkers, mumbling the songs and kinda dancing around ( doing nothing) so I literally had to hunt her down around the store and when I finally asked for help she was so annoyed to have to help me, I asked her to match me for some foundations and she didn't even try, she swatched some of the foundations next to my chin and was like yeah that works ( when I left the store and saw my face on the car mirror the colors were extremely dark for my face) after she had found "my foundation color" I asked her to help me find my concealer color and she DIDNT EVEN SWATCH ME she just told me to go with the shade lighter than the foundation! Wow she had the worst attitude when I asked her if she knew of a foundation that wouldn't look dry on my skin she just said "well that's more of skincare do you exfoliate?" Really? I do exfoliate I do everything by some people have dry skin. How come the ULTA associates actually took the time to show me the best hydrating foundations? Also the ULTA associates actually swatches the foundation and concealer on my face so I could make an educated choice. I thought Sephora would surpass ULTA but NOPE I will stick with ULTA read more
