    Completely deceptive advertising

    Totally deceptive sale price advertising. It sure looks to me like these bras are on sale, but it turns out that only one color is! I wasted my time going into the store. Talked to a manager, and she should have honored the sales price listed. False advertising, Nordstrom!

    5 stars for the young Latina woman in the men's fragrance section. I have many colognes and was just doing some retail therapy on a Friday after a really tough week. I didn't expect such great customer service and such a welcoming wisdom from her. She was so kind and also familiar with all the scents that I inquired about, including fragrances that Nordstrom didn't carry. I didn't catch her name but hopefully her manager sees this and the team congratulates her. Thank you for helping me change the color, and odor, of my week. -Stronger With You Intensely

    The Black Tie department at Nordstrom is the place to go if you're looking to buy or rent a tux. With building awareness for this newer department, Nordstrom is already filling the space conceded by Men's Wearhouse when they forced out founder George Zimmer. Nordstrom's The Black Tux is by appointment only. Book early as their calendar fills quickly especially in the prom and summer wedding season. The Black Tux's website is well organized so I knew what my son wanted and he was expertly measured and fitted. The salesperson, Steven, gave us attentive service; we didn't feel rushed. The shock was the price, almost half of what "the other guy" charges - for Nordstrom quality! Alterations assured and the tux (shirt, shoes, bowtie) shipped directly to you, couldn't be easier. Highly, highly recommend for a tux that's sharp and doesn't look like a rental with great service at a reasonable price.     So I stopped at Hillsdale mall in San Mateo on my way back to the east bay. I went into Nordstrom headed up the escalator and these beautiful colorful dresses caught my eye. The price was 240.00 but when I got to my size the tag said 180.00. I proceeded to speak with someone because I really wanted that dress. The individual said (very kind) I'm sure it's the wrong price is I seek it to you if can't be returned and I'm not really sure I can sell it at that price. So she called for John the manager and he says we have to sell it for the price on the tag. Also, very kind. No wonder i don't shop at Macy's, why? Because Nordstrom hands down has the best customer service of any retail store. And i will say again John was magnificent.

    This location is very slow and sad. They don't have the same selection as the Valley Fair location and the workers all seem very bored.

    I visited Hillsdale Mall for the first time in decades!…read more I wanted to drop by and survey the parking near Palette Tea Garden. I decided it was best to park on the roof and take the escalator down to ground level.....right to the restaurant! While I was there, I walked around to see what the indoor mall was like. It's a nice shopping mall with a variety of shops, restaurants, and services. The North Mall has a huge "Dining Terrace" which includes an outdoor patio with fire pits. I like the hand washing area. I heard stories that the owners of the mall want to tear down the enclosed mall and build a mixed use open air mall. The plan is yet to be approved. I like Hillsdale Mall the way it is.

I really love the new look of the recent expansion; the modern touch gives the space a much-needed upgrade. ​However, it is a bit sad to see so many stores closing. While the new section is beautiful, the original building hasn't changed much and feels like it's lacking the same level of improvement. Despite that, I still enjoy walking the floors and window shopping. The food court is decent--not a ton of variety, but the seating is comfortable--and the other restaurants and movie theater are great features. I have my favorite go-to stores, but I really hope they attract more tenants soon to bring back that busy, vibrant energy!

    I had a very poor customer service experience at the Francesca's in San Mateo, CA on December 30,…read more2025, around 6:40 PM. I came in to return two dresses that did not fit. Both items were unworn, had tags attached, and I had the original receipt. The associate assisting me, Ashley (Associate ID 224228), aggressively attempted to refuse the return, stating that I needed the original card used for purchase. When I asked where this requirement was stated in the return policy, she could not provide an answer and continued responding in a hostile manner. After an uncomfortable back-and-forth, the return was eventually processed. At the end of the transaction, she told me to make sure I brought my original card next time. When I replied "sure," she responded, "don't you sure me." I was extremely taken aback by this comment. When I mentioned that I had never had this issue at Francesca's before, she continued to imply that I was the problem. This interaction was completely unacceptable. Regardless of the situation, customers should be treated with basic courtesy and respect. Unfortunately, this experience has left a very negative impression of this location. Overall, I would encourage higher management to review these yelp reviews carefully as there truly appears to be a clear trend of unpleasant customer interactions with this particular store. No one should have to feel this way, it's not okay.

I first went here during Xmas 2024 to find a couple pairs of shoes as gifts. Obviously, it was busy for the holidays, but being unbelievably understaffed, I felt for them at first. There were at least 50-60 customers and ONE girl on the floor one of the days. However, a short time in you realize it's due to ALL the employees lack of social skills, and just pure laziness. I was in three times during the holiday week, and it was the same every time. No one greets you. You have to literally badger them to check stock. They just use their little scanner on the shoe, then walk away with no words said. After 15 plus minutes of waiting (no lie), no one will come back. IF they do, it will be the wrong size. 90% of the time, I had to ask multiple times if they were looking. Place is an absolute joke. So, I chalked it up to the holiday rush...until this week. I went in now a fourth time for an exchange. The exact shoe and size was literally on display. Of course, now not busy, still no one greets you. The employees just walk around the store looking like zombies. Like, can they even talk? I actually wonder. Anyway, kid takes the shoe after we told him we just need the other one to this pair. We waited for over 20 minutes. He finally emerged from the back, but just walked right past us with no shoe(s). I confronted him again, and it was like he was just seeing me for the first time again. At this point, I was just befuddled. He said they don't have it. I stated that I literally gave him the right shoe in the size, and he just needed to get the left one. He didn't say a word, and just walked away. At this point, I went to the cashier (who looked annoyed af in general) and told her we were trying to exchange but were waiting. No actual help was given. We told another employee what we needed, but they disappeared to the back and never came back. At that point, we returned the shoes with no exchange and said f*** this place. My girl and I were just in utter disbelief. Again, this was 4/4 times I have gone in here. That's a pattern, not just bad timing. I'm really surprised this place is still in business leaving so much money on the table. Stock is nice and the store is clean, but I'll never go back here.

    I previously had Elsa as my hair stylist for many year. We would chit-chat and sometimes it would…read morecome out perfect but it was always at least a B salon experience. That is, until the last time I went to her. This was a few days before my brothers wedding, and I wanted to get my light brown hair bleached (just touch-ups as my ends were already vivid) so I could apply some vivid color for for the wedding. After applying the bleach, she directed me to the drying chair for processing, while she did other stuff. I sat under the hood for almost 30 minutes without her even checking on me, or her being within reasonable earshot to even ask her if my hair was light enough. When she returned, she took me over to the wash area and washed my hair out. Then used a regular, plastic comb to comb out where the beach had been (all over my head). I could hear the hair ripping, but at this point it was too late. She finished combing out my hair and then blowdried it trying her best to smooth my hair out, which worked enough that I didn't notice how broken my hair was until I got home. The pieces framing my face along with other piece were so broken, they were 2-3 inches long and pin straight. I was absolutely devastated. I messaged Elsa and told her that she broke my hair. She did not apologize, she did not take accountability for what she had done, all she did was send me a link to a hair mask from Amazon. This is not the first time she has done this type of re-bleach on my hair. She has been bleaching my hair in various ways since I was a teenager. But it was the last. It was so heartbreaking to know that I was going to have to go to my brothers wedding with broken hair. And she didnt even offer an "Im sorry".

    This is a review of the hair "salon" service in back of the retail store…read more I opted for this place as I'd shopped in the store and used the salon waxing services in the past and had positive experiences. I needed a quick root touch up and it was low cost (about half of a typical salon's price). I learned a harsh lesson in "you get what you pay for." I requested a simple root touch-up to cover my gray roots, explicitly instructing the stylist, Elsa, to preserve my blonde balayage. Instead, she applied a dark brown color and pulled it thru covering my entire head, ruining the balayage and turning my hair a dull brown. This was an amateur mistake, as I've done root touch-ups at home without affecting the rest of my hair. When I asked for face-framing highlights to add warmth to address the darkened hair, I received orange (yes they were burnt orange- thin and patchy) highlights and only placed on top of my head (vs around the face). The trim was also super uneven, compounding the poor service. This was a total disaster and a frustrating experience that ruined my hair -requiring me to completely start all over. I strongly advise against any hair service.
