They were busy, but not overly crowded. A little hard to manoeuvre around the store as it is a little too cluttered because of all the fixtures and tables they have. I couldn't walk down some isles because people were standing looking at items or the aisle was too small to get past anyone. No staff asked if i needed any help, and it was also hard to figure out who worked there and who didn't. I didn't purchase anything because the line was too long and wasn't moving. They do have a good selection of makeup, perfumes, hair products,skin products and other beauty items. I'll be back but maybe to a different location. read more

So I was at this Sephora on a Sunday in December which is pretty much my idea of what the 9th circle of hell would be like. I had to buy one thing for a gift and wanted to pick up my Beauty Insider Free Birthday Gift. I got in and got it done. It was madness in here. You couldn't move through the aisles and it was difficult to look at the merchandise. Now that the holidays are over I'm looking forward to trying out my Moroccan Oil Hair set! I typically go to the Sephora thats in Jcpenney to purchase concealer only but today I decided to try the actual one thats in the mall to purchase all the makeup I would need for my full face . I happily walked in and was approached by an employee and she explained the wonderful sale that they had going on, she did ask my reasons for coming in today and I explained to her that I am in need of make up for my face such as foundation, concealer, eyeliner just all of the things that would make me feel beautiful. She said she had the perfect makeup consultant for me, boy was she wrong. Fatima came an introduced herself in a not so pleasant way, and asked what exactly what i was looking for, I said that I was fairly new to a full face of makeup but I'm interested in make up that can be put on my uneven skin tone. She proceeds to tell me what all that I may need but she explained it to me as I had been wearing make up all of my life. I asked her if she could break it down to a newbie like myself, she tells me that there is no other way to explain it in a very negative tone and said just follow me and I can show you some items and you can tell me if they work for you, at this time Im just very annoyed with her attitude and decided that shes not the consultant for me. I told her that Im not interested in anything that she has to show me I will not spend my money there and walked away pretty upset. I know Sephoria may not care about this review but I felt the need to write it, to voice my experience. I'm not going to lie, I'm typically an Ulta girl because of their wider selection of drugstore brands, and I love their points program. However, Sephora does have the tendency to feel a bit more elevated with their focus being solely on designer makeup brands. It feels a bit more special to visit! Love both spots for different reasons. I came here to restock my foundation, as they only sell Haus Labs at Sephora (Iykyk). I wanted to get a couple of other items, and settled on milk mascara, a Laura mercier caviar eyeshadow stick set (literally obsessed), and an eyebrow pencil. It was a Tuesday evening, it wasn't super packed which was nice! I had the opportunity to browse and look at a bunch of items I've been eyeing from instagram and tik tok. I took my granddaughter here when she was visiting from out of town. She wanted a specific highlight job. Unbeknownst to us they gave her a very young student without supervision. My granddaughter hated her hair. We couldn't go back to get it fixed because she was leaving for home that evening. By the way, I was charged $200.00 for this. I made an appointment for another granddaughter to get her nails done and when we went they had her in the computer as a hair cut so couldn't take her because they didn't have a nail girl. I talked to the owner about both things and he didn't offer me anything to get me to be a repeat customer. As a matter of fact, he had a really bad attitude. As a business owner myself, I told him that this was no way to treat a customer. I will never go back there and I warn anyone else who is thinking about going there. read more

This is a very functional chain store. Being a chain it can import all sorts of products (Urban Decay, Guerlain, Bobbi Brown, etc..) from many different companies and/or countries. We are talking higher end products that they chat up in woman magazines. The first Sephora was in France and they are owned by Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy. So they are trying to portray a very high standard and image. (Personally I could care a wink for that I just love the huge selection. ;) ) Even with this heavy foot in the big expensive fashion business world, there are also products specifically made by Sephora i.e.: eyeshadows, eyeliners, lipstick..etc..that are fairly reasonable in price. There are also SO many different colors you would be hard pressed to find a color they *didn't* have. Perfume and cologne for men and women border each wall. Woman on the right and men's on the left. They also carry skin care products from all over the world. I saw some hair products and some nail polish but I don't think the selection is high for either of these products here. Newest Craze: Currently there is a new product, TemptU, out that they will applied for free if you stop in and request it... Spray on foundation. It sounds garish and like clown wear but it is all but that. It sprays on light and doesn't emphasize the lines in your face, if you have any. :p I do not wear base now because I just can't find any that I like. Give it a try! I thought it went on better then any base I have tried so far but I haven't tried them all yet. "TemptU" is the product name. It is expensive but "flawless skin" (as so the many reviews say) is nothing to sneeze at if you have the budget. Almost every aisle has a mirror, applications, makeup remover, etc.. so you can try any tester product. I came in to the store to exchange a gift my daughter bought me. I was given a small expensive roll on perfume and I had received it from my daughter just before I had a stroke 9 months ago. I had not used it until a week ago. I put it in my purse and It leaked out quit a lot. It was a purse roller, meant for the purse. The cap unscrewed itself despite the fact that I tightened it well. Sephora would not exchange it for me without the receipt and it has a faulty cap. Why not just send it back to the company for me? I am handicapped. They do not stand by there products! read more

However, I found that if you are thin and cute, then the saleswomen are all over you. A "healthier" person like myself can wander around for ages without finding anyone who has time to help. I am a avid Sephora purchaser. I have been shopping here for 9 years and have over 10,000 points. I only say this to emphasize my love for Sephora and the workers. Today I went to the west county location and it was the first time I have EVER had a bad experience at Sephora during all my years. I walked in just browsing and told the employee Lyndia/ Lynda that. I walked to the Makeup by Mario section and did not find anything so I proceeded to look elsewhere. She began to be irritated and said "can you just tell me what you are looking for!?" As I said earlier I was simply browsing and nicely told her no thank you I am just looking. Once again I have NEVER had a bad experience at Sephora and would never write things like this unless it was something that made me very uncomfortable and multiple people felt the same way. I kept browsing and had lots of things in my bag. I am not sure if she thought I was stealing or what but I dress nicely and ever if I did come across that way there is no reason for her behavior. After her hovering she finally checked me out in line. I made a comment to my friend that I don't love the Sephora line products especially the makeup wipes (not in a mean way it's just a personal preference) and she inserted herself in the conversation and said "ACTUALLY the Sephora brand is fully clean and a actual good brand!" Now normally that comment would be fine and just a minor correction to our false statement but she began to have a attitude and I don't just write these comments to put down hard workers because I totally understand how stressful the pandemic is but this was a whole nother level. We all began to be uncomfortable and wanted to just check out quickly. Afterwards she boxed up our stuff and we left. Went in on a Sunday, an hour before close looking to buy basically a full face of makeup. I felt bad doing so that close to closing but they didn't seem to mind at all! This artist helped me (sorry I forgot your name!) and she was just awesome. I hadn't given her a budget as I didn't really have one, and she pulled products from a huge variety of lines and price points. I really felt I was getting the best, not just the fanciest fastest or most expensive. Lipstick and eyeliner from Sephora brand, eyes from Dior, too faced foundation and nars highlight and blush. it was perfect. I walked out with a full face done and all the products I needed for a "Daytime Wednesday bride" look. I ended out spending more than I'd like to admit but somehow every single product needed out working for me! That never happens!! It's not the biggest Sephora but they have a pretty great selection and awesome artists. Oh I will say though, they don't have very good points perks in stock. I think because they're such a busy store they run out of the good ones rather quickly. read more

Check your calendar, schedule an appointment and plan to treat your skin to some goodies! Spent around an hour or so with David. He was wonderful, asked what what my needs were, looked closely at my skin and chose the best products for me. While applying, the brushes were extensions of his fingers, as if he had been doing this for years and years. ( not old enough though) explaining why he used each technique. He was understanding of the "b" word ( budget) and helped me choose the first 3 items to purchase now. The rest on my wish list. ok so I'm not exactly sure why, but there are two sephoras at West County Mall, yes TWO! There's one on the first floor that has a store all on it's own then there's one inside JC Penny. While the one inside JC Penny is definitely half the size of the actual one in the mall - it's customer service was absolutely wonderful. A very wonderful lady named Renee helped me choose foundation, primer and even got a couple of samples for me. She was super nice and very helpful. Overall it made my experience at Sephora a lot more enjoyable than in the past ( the south county sephora employees made everything oh so depressing!) A little tip: If you notice the product that you intend to buy is a little bit warm (due to sitting under the bright lights all day) don't hesitate to ask a sephora employee to grab you one that's in the drawer underneath the display. read more

I don't know if anyone else experiences this phenomenon but every time i walk into a Sephora with no makeup on the employees could careless to help me but if I come in full face of makeup they are attentive and they are ready to help. I don't get it. What's wrong with not wanting to put makeup on. That's not what this review is about, i was in the store with my sister and niece and bought a pair of lashes and glue for about $50. I left the store and wondered the mall with my sister and niece about an hour or two later I notice my Sephora bag isn't in my nieces stroller where I left it, i retracted all my steps asking every employee in the stores I was recently in and no one saw it, someone stole my stuff from the stroller!! I went back to Sephora where the same employee who greeted me the first time i was in there was standing by the door to great me again i asked her if she could help me and she called the manager, and I asked if there was anyway i could get a new pair of lashes and glue and I was told that it's out of their hands and they aren't responsible, okay but i still paid for it and the cashier was the same one who rang me out earlier. So 2 employees and my sister were all witnesses to me buying the lashes and glue and the could give me a new pair. So Sephora you just got a free $50 from me and now I'm out $100 for having to buy another set. And someone out there has a nice new set of lashes for free. read more

No one approached me (I wore a onesie and I look 12 which is probably why but I should still be treated like everyone else) until I asked for help, I asked for a Fenty gift card and when I got it and walked around to look around some more the lady said she'd put it on the counter for me when I was ready which I feel like it was because she didn't believe I was buying it. The only lady that was nice to me was the cashier and I put my gift card in my pocket so it looked like I didn't buy anything so the greeter didn't tell me goodbye/have a nice night. Very super small Sephora location! This is the smallest Sephora I've been to and it's very small and congested. I think they have way too much stuff in here for a small location. They have little bits and pieces of each line but not the full line of products. The employees here are a little below average hints why the average rating. I was looking for a particular product for my extremely dry winter face. An associated for an individual product line was helping me....I knew what I wanted but She try to up sell me on her products. I understand she works off of commission but she didn't respect what I wanted and was looking for so out the door I went. read more

While I've overall had very positive experiences at Sephora stores in general; I did want to single this one out. My roommate and I made appointments for a "makeover" session earlier this summer. Unfortunately the name of the wonderful woman who did our makeovers escapes me now; but she was great. She took the time to find out what kinds of shades and such that we preferred and then gave us multiple color options within what we said we preferred. She took her time doing the makeovers so she could show us exactly what she was doing and explained why she was doing it. I believe the makeover is *either* $50 *or* you have to spend that amount; well each of us ended up exceeding that by a significant margin. Don't get me wrong there were things she used that I didn't care for or purchase (for example I have a particular blush from NYX that I really like - Cinnamon if anybody cares); but she did also use some things that I really, really liked. The "They're Real" mascara is great; and the CoverFX foundation works wonders for me as two examples. Sephora is by no means cheap; and I do use some cheaper makeup for certain things - but for others - well you get what you pay for in some cases. The only other comment I'd have is in regards to Barbara K's review below. Everybody's experience is different; but I'm by no means "petite" and I've never observed behavior like that in Sephora in general, much less in this location. They're always (in some cases overly) helpful. read more

After visiting the West County Mall location today and dealing with the store manager,Karen, I would recommend that everyone should shop at a different retailer for your needs. She was rude and really not customer focused. I have worked in retail for many years and our customers are the most important part of our business. I wondered why Sephora does not train their management in this way. Also please note that any Sephora management outside of the actual store their information is a secret and if you ask for their name and number you are told no and if you offer your name and number so you can be called your told no. Also Sephora management does not work on weekends. They only work Monday thru Friday. Please don't shop at Sephora. Please give your money to a retailer that appreciates the customer. read more

Kyle was nice at the beginning, then he began to try makeup on me which is what I wanted, he put colors on that I didn't like and was RUDE when I said I didn't like it. The employees at this Sephora location are always extremely helpful no matter what and know what they are talking about. I've been to many other Sephora's where the staff is stuck up and won't go out of their way for the customer, but this location always does. I'm a huge fan of Sephora. The crowd at the Des Peres location is my favorite. If you need your makeup done, GO SEE KAREN B!!! She is hands down the best makeup artist I've ever used. She is so sweet and really listens to what you want, not what she thinks would be best. Helen was also super sweet, she helped me pick out some great skin care products that should help me stay wrinkle free for many years to come :) The managers there are also nice.....just an all around great place! I have heard wonderful things about this place and was excited to go in and learn more about purchasing ALL NEW makeup. I decided to stop in for a quick look around and was introduced to a wonderful makeup artist, Megan, who really listened to what I was looking for. She understood that I was looking for a natural look, and something I could do quickly before work. She convinced me to schedule a custom makeover the next week. When I came in for my appointment I was put with another makeup artist. I explained to her that I was looking for a quick natural look for the mornings - also incorporating some lip color and foundation and purchasing new brushes. An hour later I ended up with 25+ products on my face, not including 4 moisturizers I told her I didn't need to start with, and SEVEN different eye shadows on my eyes! She was talented, and everything looked great, but she obviously wasn't listening to my requirements of QUICK AND NATURAL, which I further emphasized throughout the time. I went to talk to the manager. She listened to what I had to say, but didn't seem overly apologetic - it was like I was interrupting her day. She said she would set me up with another artist another day to redo this make up and give me a more natural look. She scheduled a day and time to call me and schedule that new appointment. Fast forward 2 weeks, I still have not heard from them... So, I scheduled an appointment with MAC in Frontenac Plaza, spent a WHOLE lot of money, and had a WONDERFUL experience with their store manager who gave me the look I was hoping for, with the tools that were sufficient. I should go back and have a Pretty Woman moment at Sephora! I gave 2 stars because the artists obviously know what they're doing, but may or may not listen to your overall goal. Good luck! read more

This place is awesome! The staff were very helpful! I have extremely sensitive skin & came in here looking for stuff for dark circles under my eyes. They gave me a sample of some stuff that would help. That is awesome since I can try the product before buying it. My skin acts sooo wacko that sometimes I'll buy something thinking it would work, but it doesn't. Instead, I get a itchy, red reaction to the product. Very large selection of cosmetics & perfumes. I had some questions about receiving a makeover for my daughter. I've never had one so I wasn't sure if there was a cost or we need to schedule an appointment. The associate just said to look online. When I tried to inquire more she cut me off and smiled and said go online. Obviously she didn't want to do the makeover. We went to the Clinique counter at Macy's instead. Sales lady was very helpful and I ended up buying my daughters products there. They matched her foundation and everything. I expected more out of Sephora b/c of all the hype. I don't think I'll be back. But I will continue to order what I already use online instead. read more
