From what I read; Sephora has an interesting history. The company began in 1970 in Paris, then was acquired by Dominique Mandonnaud in 1993, who merged the purchase with his own perfume chain under the Sephora brand. Thereafter, they sold to LVMH which has grown the brand expeditiously. Not sure what the ownership status is today, but obviously the Company has been quite successful since its first started. What I like about Sephora is their assisted self-service sales experience, which is not as common from their competitors. My main reason for shopping at Sephora is for Men's shampoos. I believe they have been the most helpful when I needed assistance. read more

Oh Sephora. The store where many a man will groan and roll their eyes if forced to go inside. However, since I am lacking in the Y chromosome department, I am unfairly wired to like this place. I mean, you can fulfill all of your beauty needs at Sephora, but this will come at a cost. No Revlon or Cover Girl here. All brand-named products. For face care, I really love the Ole Henriksen line face washes and moisturizers. And I just got the Wild Rose scrub from Korres that my friend recommended. You can find many similar items at Ulta, but they are evenly matched in price. You will find tons of awesome make-up in every shade and color of the rainbow from top brands. I don't really wear a whole ton of make-up (I'm a gloss and mascara kind of gal) but I love Stila, Clinique, Smashbox and Tarte and can find all of their stuff here. I also can't leave here without spending less than $50. They have a ton of fragrances for both men and women. I know you can purchase a fragrance set for both men and women that includes samples and a redeemable gift certificate for a full size fragrance of your choice (from the samples) which is great if you're not sure what you want to buy. And, the salespeople will give you a sample of anything you want, which is awesome. It just adds up quickly in price when you see items you want to buy. Plus, the staff can be hit or miss personality wise. You'll find some snooty 'tudes here, but also nice and genuinely helpful people as well. Avoid this place on the weekend, it gets insane and sensory overload - too many strong perfume spritzes trigger migraines and this is more likely to occur on a Saturday or Sunday when this place is maxed to capacity. read more

I only been to this location twice but what I can remember the most about this location is the customer service. When I first walked in someone said hello, but never asked if I needed help with anything. My husband is looking at me like ( can you just hurry up and buy something so we can go). Unfortunately I couldn't remember the name of the item I wanted so I had to pull up my email and find my way around the store until I spotted the item. Ok, finally I went to someone for help cause I couldn't take it anymore and she couldn't help me but directed me to someone who can help. This lady is the only reason why I give this place 3 stars. She was very knowledgeable and basically gave me a one on one skin lesson class. She directed me to the right products to purchase and everything. She even recommended this one cream which was $135 can't remember the name of it but she said it was really good. When I stated I didn't want to spend that much on a cream cause I already had a $95 cleanser in my hand she definitely understood and actually recommended a more reasonable cleanser for cheaper and cream to go with it. I definitely came out the store spending much less then what I expected. But with some good skin products. (Well I guess I really won't know if they good or not until a few more weeks of using them lol) anyway, it didn't stop there. The girl at the checkout counter was extremely helpful. Janel who was the assistant for my 30 min facial is absolutely amazing! She's so sweet and so down to earth. Educated me in the products I purchased and explained carefully of every step she was doing. I didn't feel rushed and she answered all my questions, esp not making me feel dumb as I don't use much makeup. I def will be returning for all my future services through Janel. I would not recommend placing pick-up orders at this location. I have placed two pick up orders in the past 6 months and both times I was given filthy products that had the seal on the box either broken or missing and make-up smeared all over the outer packaging. When I first came into this store I was very excited to get products so I can learn to do my makeup . I had a lady help me but she had to leave and told me another coworker was going to assist me she asked me to sit by the makeup station to match my skin tone . Gianna came and told me " I couldn't sit there because this was for other customers " making me feel very unwelcome , uncomfortable and upset this was the worst customer experience i have ever received . I told her I didn't just come and sit here how the other lady asked me to sit so she can match my skin tone . I stopped in inquiring about a natural non-chemical foundation. Nicole the makeup specialist greeted me and suggested I try the CoverFX foundation which is vegan - PERFECT! She was patient, friendly, answered my questions, & took her time and matched me to the correct color shade. After getting in line and getting ready to pay I learned there was a problem with my Beauty Rewards credit I had on my account. It was an issue the manager Tara had to get on the phone with the 1800 dept. I was ticked! Tara managed to clear the whole thing up and was apologetic that I had to wait so long. Awful customer service experience. I am a VIB (over 900 points). I returned 2 items and asked for my money back per receipt. For some reason computer didn't compute it correctly and worker and manager told me I wouldn't get the correct amount back. Then after worker did something on the computer it calculated it correctly and I got my refund. They wouldn't apologize for telling me I was wrong about getting my refund and instead were extremely passive aggressive. When I asked her to explain why they kept insisting I not get my money back her response was "so you want me to tell you, you were right ? " wtf. Now the associate that did my make she was good she did an amazing job just wish i knew what stuff she used on my face because of what happen next i didnt get her to email or write it down for me. Make up is not cheap and money does not grow on trees so when I especially am interested in trying something new I like to ask more then one question about the product and see if it's best for me. I went there in the beginning of my mall visit and asked for help about certain bronzes and they were to busy cleaning their make up station ( shouldn't they be doing this before they open? , or even when they close the night before? ) anyways I got a big eye roll like it was totally the biggest inconvience for them, after feeling terribly awkard I figured I'd go to my next choice of a store and come back when I'm done and on my way out... My daughter and I were just here tonight and I was very pleased with the assistance she received by all of the staff. The woman who did her makeup was wonderful. I think her name was Patti and she gave my daughter a beautiful natural look and didn't pressure her to buy any of the products (which of course we did because she looked fantastic). The prices are high but the expertise of the staff is worth the extra money. We were also helped by a very knowledgable salesgirl when buying hair products. I love Sephora and have been a very loyal customer for many years, but this location is a huge disappointment. The sales associates lack customer service skills and are very rude. Management isn't any better. After attempting to shop there several times, I was livid when a sales associate rolled her eyes at me and I was rudely ignored after trying to speak to her. When I finally got a response from the associate, she gave me the nastiest look and asked "what?" After trying to address the issue with management I found that they weren't any better. Management tried their best to discredit me as a loyal customer stating all of their customer spend hundreds of dollars in one visit, and without attempting to listen to what I had to say excused her associate's attitude and behavior as a result of the store being busy. This was hilarious to me as I am originally from the city and if that's what was considered busy then both management and their sales associates need to be retrained. Is good customer service dead in this day and age? I find the employees of this store to be very stuck up and they treat their customers as if they are doing them a favor. Hello employees!!! if it wasn't for our money buying these products you guys won't have jobs. I'd like to start by writing that they have a very good return policy. However, this store is so unattractive and the front of the store is cramped. A lot of the samples have been ruined by customers and some are missing. I opened about 8 YSL samples and all the brushes looked smashed. I bought a lipstick and when I got home realized that it was opened and used, perhaps that is why they have a good return policy. I know its important to have the most expensive items in the front, but I don't appreciate buying a $36 lipstick that was already opened. The manager seemed to have no interest in the store or the employees. Even though I hate salespeople, I prefer to buy my cosmetics in a more controlled environment. Who wants to buy lipstick that has been touched by other hands. Sorry for making this review so long, but this store doesn't seem consistent with a store on the north shore of Long Island. read more
