Staff are knowledgeable and very friendly. However, I am so tired of having to wait outside 15-30 minutes because they can't open on time for some reason. Mornings are my only availability and I don't have much time. This has happened the last 4 times I have visited this store. Sephora = Zipporah, Greek spelling for the wife of Moses. Quality/Quantity - One of my daughters favorite makeup store. Guess I bought her $45 worth of makeup??? This is what happens when I am not looking, lol. Or at an ice cream shop while she is shopping...! Atmosphere - Place smells like makeup and perfume, so I try not to go in... But seems organized and clean. My least favorite parking lot of all the malls. Open 7 days a week from 10am to 8pm. Service - Promotion = spend $50 and get 15% off next purchase starting mid June. My daughter said she did not need any more, so she saved me the $5, LOL. My daughter said the person who helped her was GREAT. Three stars for the products they carry, but customer service is unfriendly and unhelpful. I love Sephora and always visit when I'm in CA, get some samples, update my makeup, try out a new scent, just overhaul the image and feel good about myself. I went into Whalers Sephora this morning and wasn't greeted so asked for help and the gal went to the nearest stand picked up a product and gave it to me without a smile. I was shocked, Sephora stores are always happy places! I looked around on my own to find what I was looking for and was constantly asked what I was looking for by surly staff. One even insisted I take a basket when I didn't want one. When I went to the cashier she looked me up and down and didn't greet me and I had to ask how many points I had and which samples were available. My birthday gift wasn't available so I had to do without. She was so unfriendly when I was buying close to $100 worth of makeup! I was frankly shocked and disappointed in the customer service at this store and won't be back. I'll wait until I go to the mainland or buy online, or go to the opposition in Kahului. If management are reading this, please, give your staff some customer service assistance. The other stores at Whalers are all welcoming and helpful, it is supposed to be a happy place to shop! read more

I do have to admit Sephora does have a beautiful store & a nice product selection. Except their customer service varies. Walking in here you never know if you're going to have an enjoyable shopping experience or one that makes you want to spend your money elsewhere. For example my mothers birthday was recently & she had a coupon she wanted to use. When she arrived, she was looking in the Clinique section. There's this box set she always stocks up on, but didn't remember which one it was off the top of her head. (Attached is the picture of the set she got from a previous shopping trip, she prefers gel vs the lotion.) My mom asked if she could open the drawer to she if they had the one she wanted in back stock. She was told no & was ask you seriously don't know what you use? My mom told her she was drawing a blank, it wasn't the one on the shelf but if she saw it she could point it out. The lady basically told my mom that she didn't wear Clinique so she didn't know what she was talking about. After giving up & moving to another part of the store she ran into another employee who was actually very friendly. This person helped my mom find something to buy. However when my mom went to pay she was so excited to tell the cashier that she also had a coupon. The cashier just looked at my mom and told her she needed the credit card to use that one. Which is how she paid. Reason for a 3 star rating: 1 star for the employee who was actually nice & helpful to an elderly customer, 1 star for the quality products Sephora sells & 1 star because this is still one of my mothers favorite stores. Shopping tips: -Do your research before going in, this will save you time trying to find someone willing to help you. -Don't shop here alone, you have a better chance of the employees being nice if there's an audience. -Don't shop here with a coupon, they'll assume you can't afford to shop here & not want to help you. -If you can wait for your purchase, skip the hassle & just shop online. -Or if possible skip Sephora altogether & shop directly through the brand your purchasing from. read more

IMHO I try to replenish my cosmetics at this particular Sephora in Maui because I like saving money on the tax rate! My home state charges more than twice Hawaii's tax! Although this is a smaller Sephora, I can usually find my favorite brands here. Service is always friendly and available. Joy helped me find and choose my products and when it came time to ring up, I realized that my 10% coupon would not work until two days later. I apologized to Joy and said I would be returning later. Hey, 10% is 10%. Joy was very gracious and understanding. When I returned a few days later, Ploy helped me gather my items. Unfortunately during the 10% sale, one of my items had sold out. I love Sephora. I've been a faithful customer for many, many years. I am so happy there is a Sephora here on Maui. I really wish they would open one in Kahului though but it gives me another reason to drive out Lahaina :) My favorite brands are Make Up Forever, the Sephora Collection, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Kat Von D and Philosophy products. I don't wear a lot of makeup and my makeup collection really varies but I do love me some Sephora. I also love the freebies I always get because of my points and you also get a free birthday gift every year which I look forward to lol. Customer service at this Sephora is fantastic. I was visiting Maui for a wedding and during the dress rehearsal I realized that my makeup was not going to last due to the heat. Please tell me why I visit this Sephora store more than Stoneridge Mall? Seriously, whenever I visit my 'ohana here on Maui; I shop at Sephora. Honestly, I think my mom just waits until I visit Maui so that she can holo holo in West Maui with me. Some of the employees are friendly, and some are definitely not. Their prices are similar to the two stores in Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton; but, the tax here is much less. Yes, I'll shop here with my mom any day and pay a little less in taxes. Great selection of products, and decent prices. I can spend hours in this store just looking at makeup and smelling perfumes. The Sephora store at Whaler's Village is the only one on Maui right now. And they have a pretty good variety of products from high end (i.e. Prada and Tom Ford) to more affordable (i.e. Philosophy). I also love how they offer their makeup and perfumes in different sizes and with different options (i.e. they offer many perfumes in different sizes in spray form as well as travel-sized sprays and rollerballs). Customer service varies. Today, I had a very friendly employee who was very helpful, so that was awesome. She made sure to ask me if I needed a parking validation, and she also gave me a bunch of free samples, which was nice. read more

Unbelievable rude and un helpful!! I went in to buy a birthday treat of Sunday Reilly good genes. I asked about a bday gift since it was my birthday. I was rudely totaled they had nothing, to check back maybe there's have something in a week. I asked for some hair samples, I was tossed some Sunday Reilly good genes samples. Shopping with a 4% sales tax rate? I'm down! It just encouraged me to get all the products I wanted before, but didn't want to spend too much money on. Plus, who can't love makeup shopping in paradise?! The sales associates are very helpful and won't hesitate to make you samples. Also! If you forgot to pack sunscreen, you can ask for a sample or simply buy the Shiseido urban environment sunscreen which contains SPF 42. That's the one I bought while I was there and it turned out to be a great product. It's meant for your face and dries to a smooth, matte finish (a great find for sunscreen). They also had a great sale of 50% off sephora by OPI nail polishes. And I believe that sale is still going on, perhaps they're trying to clear that inventory? And because of that purchase (+ a few other Dior products), I am now a VIB! read more

I've been to this Sephora many, many times, but yesterday was the first time I went in for anything other than just to shop. I had a complimentary makeover certificate that I'd gotten in a 500-point reward a few months ago, and it was about to expire. I decided to go and take advantage of it before going to the Patton Oswalt show at the MACC last night. The store was pretty slow (to be expected on a Thursday afternoon), and they were able to start my makeup before my appointment time. A sales associate got me seated, and did the ColorIQ, where they use a special device to find your exact color match in virtually any foundation. Afterward, they were able to link that code to my Beauty Insider account. Neat! After she got me seated, she asked me some questions about what I was looking for, and what kind of makeup I normally used. She reported my answers to the makeup artist, Amethyst, before she started. Amethyst was very sweet, and once she got a feel for what I was looking for, she did a wonderful job, and answered all of my questions extremely knowledgeably. She quickly realized that I was pretty obsessed with makeup, so she explained things in a little bit more of an "advanced" manner from then on. She knew exactly what I meant when I said, "Give me Instagram brows!" The areas that I usually have difficulty with (brows and false lashes), she took extra care to have me watch what she was doing, so I could hope to try it at home. Since I had the complimentary makeover certificate, the usual $50 minimum purchase was waived, so I only wound up purchasing the false eyelashes that Amethyst expertly applied for me. She was not pushy about any products, but she did write down what shade she used for just about everything, so I could pick up the products later. The whole thing took longer than the 45 minutes it was supposed to, but that was totally fine-- she took her time and made me look great! I felt like a million bucks on my date with my husband last night. The great service at this Sephora will make me think twice before putting in another online order, and make the drive to Ka'anapali instead! read more

Went to this store today and was rudely told that we had use their hand sanitizer. When we told the girl that one of us was allergic to it she didn't offer any solution just told us that is what we had to do. We ended up putting some in our hand then wiping it off. Then after we were in the store we were told that we couldn't touch any of the testers. They were rude and we left. I guess this is why the store was empty! read more

I love makeup and love Sephora. I live on the other side of the island so I don't always have the opportunity to come here. If only Sephora was located nearer to central Maui, however, I would definitely go there every day. I love the way their store is organized since I can easily find whatever I am looking for. Most of their staff are also very friendly and helpful. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because of their color-matching skills. The first time I went there to get color matched, I was given a shade 2 times darker than my real skin tone. In the store, it looked perfect so I bought it. When I used it the following Sunday, my cousins commented that I looked like I had used tanning lotion on my face. It was THAT dark. I went to return it and got my correct shade. The second time, I had my mom color matched and they AGAIN gave her a shade that was way too dark. When we went to the Sephora at Oahu, one of the staff there even commented that the color was way too dark and orange. I had it returned there. Overall, their staff and products are top-notch. They are helpful and friendly. I would be a little wary about their color-matching, though. read more

I never ever write yelp reviews but we had such a good experience at Sephora the other day!! I went into Sephora on Monday trying to find a nice foundation. Shannon helped my friend and I find the perfect shade of Rihanna Fenty foundation. I have no idea what I'm doing or what to look for when it comes to make up and I wanted to make sure I was getting the best foundation considering I've never invested in anything other than drug store make up. This store is significantly smaller than the one at Ala Moana. they do not carry some of the product i need (Carol's Daughter skin products). Most of the girls working there are super helpful. I drive all the way up there from Kihei before work and the manager assisted me with an exchange and then helped me find exactly what I was looking for; she was efficient, quick and extremely helpful. We (3 of us) came to this location for a make over for our family pictures. Shelby, Chelsea and Ploy were all extremely knowledge and friendly. They gave us detailed information about the products that they utilized and ensured that we loved our look. I liked that they asked questions about our style to ensure that they fit our look. They went above and beyond and even offered to order some of our items so that they can be shipped to our home since we were tourist. As soon as my friends and I walked in to the store, one of the workers kept following us around as if we were suspicious of something. She was very unprofessional; didn't even hide the fact that she was following us and offered no assistance. I felt extremely uncomfortable, racially profiled, and very angry. I've been to this Sephora a couple of times, it's lacking the higher quality cosmetics, which I do know Sephora is finally upping up their game with and carrying... Brands like, La Mer, Guerlain, Jo Malone, Rahua, ETC. (at least online anyways) This store did just get some SK-II but as of today, it's only a small handful of products. Overall most of their makeup they carry in this store is for the teenyboppers. If you are looking for La Mer or Chanel or something the teenage girls aren't sparkling up their face with try COS BAR, it's towards the other end of the island, GPS will says it's a lot further drive then it really is.
