I frequently go to this location and usually I'm never approached or even greeted by anyone but the security by the doors. I went in this afternoon and was helped by a female with green hair by the name of Erica. She was super sweet and helped match me with the correct shade of over achiever concealer. She seemed to be super busy but kept checking up and reminding me that she would be right with me. I ended up getting the concealer she recommended , a body lava by Fenty and a beauty blender cleanser. I checked out with someone else as the woman who helped me was busy helping someone. The girl I checked out with wasn't very pleasant. She dropped her pen and I picked it up for her, she didn't say thank you or anything. She didn't ask if I needed anything else , ask if I wanted to use my beauty insider points, wish me a good day or anything. My sister and I stop by for a makeover but unfortunately, you have to make an appointment. No walk ins if they are already booked. Luckily, they had some time to do an eye glam only and made my sis look fabulous! Customer service was great! As I browsed the makeup while I was waiting for my sis, I was greeted by one the staff who asked if I needed help. I wish I remember her name (beautiful, tall, African-American lady with short stylish hair, red lip stick ). She helped me find the lipstick I was looking for and helped me pick out blush. I love their new mobile check out service. It's fast, efficient and my receipt was sent via email. I was even reminded of the points I had on my Sephora card to receive some cute goodies . if you think you've been to Sephora, think again! This particular location is like no other in set up and decor with its glass, chrome, and black fixtures along with LED lighting. (I asked a salesperson and they're using this store as a concept store.) This Sephora has a number of products other locations don't. There's an area solely for global beauty products--items you may've heard about from other parts of the global, but haven't had the opportunity to see, smell, or touch. This location also carries Armani cosmetics which I've never seen in Sephora. As slick as the store looks, its technology use is as savvy as an Apple store. You can check out with your mobile phone and there are iPads to access reviews and information on products. If you're usually overcome by the need to purchase when visiting Sephora, you may want to leave your plastic home---you're going to be wowed! read more

I haven't been to this particular Sephora for a while but on a trip to Apple to have my laptop repaired, I stopped in to pick up a brow product. Their service was far superior to any of the other Sephora's that I frequent, several different employees informed me that they were there if I had any questions. None of them had that nose in the air attitude that I've seen in many beauty establishments lately- big turn off especially when your makeup isn't on point and you work at a makeup store... No gracias! Check out was super easy and customer friendly, it's not one long line for the entire store but rather an intimate kiosk-type of check out, and if you're paying with a card they can ring you up at any part of the store with their mobile devices. I will definitely be returning to this location for my future cosmetic purchases, shopping for makeup shouldn't feel like a chore and it sure doesn't at this meatpacking location, happy makeup shopping! read more

We were approached by members of the staff Immediately , and then we had all of our needs tended to within the span of five minutes. The employee that helped my partner and I was knowledgeable, and Sephora Stephanie is AMAZING!! She helped my friend figure out which shade of the FENTY beauty line matched her complexion perfectly. She also directed me to the section where the FENTY GLOW lip gloss was, and so far I love the lipgloss!! We had the option to mobile check out , and it was actually much quicker than waiting on line for a register to open up. read more

I was just in this Sephora and honestly have had THE WORST EXPERIENCE ever. I am 17, and so is my best friend - who is with me. We both were browsing the store with some products in our hands. We ultimately decide to put them back and come back another time to get them. We go to school up the block and we could always come back. In the middle of putting back our items, we were testing out some other products we liked and just chatting. I am testing the new Haus Labs lipgloss on my hand and about to test it on my friends. She is holding another lip gloss (that she intended to put back because she decided she didn't like the color). An employee comes over and demands that we put everything in our hands into a basket. I have a tester product in my hand (not even a packaged one worth stealing), and my friend is still holding onto her lipgloss about to put it back. I am confused, thinking that I am being yelled at for using a product, she however is trying to calmly explain to the worker that she wasn't trying to steal and the product was just in her hand. Mind you, we are no where near the exits and look like customers browsing the store. Regardless, the employee begins to raise his voice and tell us to put the other item we "had" in the basket. Once again we explain we have nothing else, and just put back the products. He keeps on, and we go as far to open our bags. He keeps saying "leave" and "have a nice day" with intense attitude to push his point. We weren't allowed to explain ourselves, nor given the opportunity to further browse. So just be careful going into this store because if you are browsing too long and too hard the employees will apparently go nuts. If you work there and are reading this please know it was never that serious, and we just wanted to get makeup and test stuff for our prom in a month. This is one of the best Sephoras in the city. The service actually friendly, which is honestly hard to find in a Manhattan Sephora. It's also cleaner than the other locations, and there isn't a crazy crowd of tourists going crazy. Conveniently located a few blocks away from Chelsea market and the Highline. The lady that helped me last time was the sweetest person. She was very helpful and answered all my questions. She also told me that I still could return a face lotion, that I bought months ago but did not like, and even offered to help me find something more appropriate for my skin type. Moments ago, I witnessed a clerk at the Meatpacking store who saw my black friend put a Dr. Dennis Gross purchase in his Barneys bag and proceed to panic and ask on her walkie talkie if someone checked him out. I was in line behind him and watched the original clerk who checked him out look back at me before she stormed off, leaving me to wait there for some service. The only reason the stereotyping woman came to assist me is because she'd been following me around in the store to begin with. Instead of even trying to allow me to pay for my item, she gets on the device paging anyone to see if he'd paid. I'm informing you because I don't want my people to get followed around in stores and accused of things purely so that an associate can be "actually just making sure that nothing's being stolen". read more

This location's gimmick is that it's all mobile too so you can go to any of them to check out. I docked off one star only because this location seems to lack many products that other locations always have in stock. Perhaps it was an off day, but the person that helped me was not that knowledgeable, helpful, or even friendly. I was looking for a new foundation, which is a big thing in a woman's makeup life. My person unenthusiastically used the color match gizmo on me, and helped me try on 2 foundations. She didn't seem very knowledgeable or conversant on the products or makeup in general. After I selected my products, she let me wander around looking for the check-out counter. Hint: there isn't one. You get checked out on a mobile device. Absolutely rude "greeter"/ employee upon entering. Asked for a specific brand at first-- the only words out of her mouth repeatedly as I asked about 3 different questions surrounding the TYPE of product, as she cut off my questions each time without listening or asking any questions fully in return to better grasp the type of product I was seeking: "not at this location" "not at this location" "not at this location" -- without any sort of movement toward actually looking up or asking for help from another employee concerning a product type she is clearly uneducated and unfamiliar with. This woman should NOT be in the business of customer service; most especially not at the front entrance. Upon exiting after being treated so rudely and unprofessionally, I found products on the Sephora site that would have been a match. My least favorite Sephora. This particular location thinks they are very innovative by eliminating the check out/pay counter yet don't equip every employee with the capability to handle the purchase transaction. I can never seem to track down one of the roaming check out people and when I do, it's completely awkward because they are juggling the merchandise since there's no counter. What's more, the handheld devices don't always scan the VIB card and they have to type in your email address by hand. My visit there yesterday was extra frustrating as one of the staff told me that I product I've bought at that store and some other Sephora locations about once every two months for the past year hadn't been carried by Sephora or this store for at least 18 months. read more

As I have stated previously I like Sephora...a lot. I always feel like the staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcomed. I know it's only cosmetics (not for me) and perfumes/cologne but if a lot of companies out their did the same, there would be a lot more successful companies. Case in point. My gf and I stopped in here for a sec. The sec turned out to be minutes which turned into an hour. I need to give props to Kevin. Even though we had no intention of purchasing anything he really went out of his way to give us samples and asked the right questions. The whole time we were the center of attention. This Sephora HAD IT ALL!! There are no registers everything is mobile! The store is very spacious and has every brand! I've been to Sephora where they hardly have your match or brand for your color IQ but this one I am very sure you will get everything you need. I've had trouble with foundation shades but this store has more of a wider variety even in the Sephora brand. Service is fast and efficient. The make-up stations are clean. It's in the middle of every other important stores so why not step in! You'll be amazed. read more

I love Sephora but the staff at this location is too overbearing and you will be followed everywhere you go. I went in on my lunch break this Thursday to pick up a gift and also just to browse. My favorite part of Sephora is being able to see and try all the new make up, it's very relaxing for me. This trip however, I was bombarded with salespeople at every turn asking if I needed help or pushing product. I was literally approached by 7 different associates in the 10 minutes I was in there. I don't know if they are just way over staffed and the staff doesn't know what to do with themselves? One in particular, even after I politely said I didn't need help thank you, stood hovering around me and then started suggesting items that I didn't ask for. If I wasn't purchasing a gift, I would've just walked out because I was so annoyed. Of course, when you are ready to check out, because this location has no dedicated register, all those million salespeople who were just all over you can't or won't ring you up. You literally have to scan the store for the one person with the mobile checkout. Avoid this location for your sanity!!! read more

Amazing service!!! I normally shop at Ulta because the Sephora's where I love are so awful. I went in to buy a bite beauty lipstick and my friend needed a new foundation. The manager there Shantell runs the floor with such presence. She knows exactly what is happening. Mara, Andres, and Nicole were all so helpful. Sephora is the ultimate store for a girl's beauty essentials. I typically visit the store once a week or so. I'm addicted! I love to browse new products and the employees aren't total snobs nor do they follow you around and stare at you. What I love about Sephora over other beauty stores is that there is superb customer service. 1. samples are easy to get, just ask an employee for help; 2. TONS of brands to shop from; 3. easy return/exchange policy -- probably the major benefit -- how many times have you bought makeup and it ends up turning out awful? Well no problem, if you bought it at Sephora!!! 4. Beauty Insider program gives rewards for frequent buyers; 5. "Nail bars" allow you to try out new nail polishes - I've literally run into tons of friends at Sephora nail bars! Some of my favorites available at Sephora: 1. Koh Gen Do: the primer and foundation work amazingly together and they have a great selection for all skin colors 2. Philosophy skin cleanser smells clean and makes your face feel clean 3. Clarisonic brush has made a giant difference in the clarity of my skin 4. Nars eyeshadow and blush are beyond amazing 5. Coco Mademoiselle perfume by Chanel is the only perfume my sensitive nose can tolerate and enjoy 6. Sephora body butters smell great and absorb easily 7. Urban Decay eyeshadow primer never fails 8. How do I love thee 1- all the staff that comes within arms length greets you and offers assistance (I love that) 2- you get stuck in here because it's awfully wonderful sparkly smelling of heaven and lipgloss I love this store got my nye makeup and I was helped by 5 people Originally I didn't need help but then boom when I spun to look for someone There was always someone in the corner... It's actually quite amazing to tell you the truth. The staff is knowledgeable about multiple products in the store I'm not just sold items made by Sephora. I was sold a primer for eyelashes by Dior a wonderful sparkling mascara by Sephora. And I picked up some other products I have no need for but oh I still will love them the same when they're added to my makeup box! All and all, it was very efficient customer service which is of most importance to me, knowledgeable HELPFUL courteous staff. And not to mention the ladies had makeup that looked wonderful. Which ... No offense is what I look for in a person who is recommending makeup to me.. If you don't know how to wear nice makeup how can you possibly direct me to the best products for a targeted look? I never write reviews but my experience here definitely warrants one. I went to purchase my usual perfume and knew exactly where to find it. When I entered the store, the male sales associate gave me a suspicious look while greeting me. I shrugged it off and continued to the perfume section. I bought the perfume from another sales associate and didn't receive a bag or receipt. I began to head out of the store when the same male associate and a security guard accused me of shoplifting! I literally just bought the item not far from the entrance. I was almost barred from exiting the store until the sales associate that checked me out verfied that I paid. You need to reeveluate the way you train your employees because they obviously don't know what they are doing. read more

My friends and I signed up for the free contour class on a Sunday night, and it was above and beyond what we expected from a free makeup class! The class was after closing hrs so we had the whole place to ourselves, with around 8 women total participating. The two women running the class were SO nice and personable and they really put effort in to engage with all of us, not just make it a generic makeup tutorial. It was a combination of watching Anastasia (the class lead) demonstrate the makeup techniques on one of the participants, then she and the other instructor (who's name I forget but was also amazing!) would walk around and help us find the appropriate shades for our skin tones. In keeping the class as small as it was, we were always able to get our questions answered and the attention we needed from the instructors, in addition to chatting and admiring the work of our fellow participants! By the end of the class, not only did we all rock perfectly contoured and highlighted faces, but we came away feeling like a little makeup family! AND as if all the free makeup to apply and help wasn't enough, we walked away with a bag of free sephora samples. No pressure to buy any of the products we used either (though I obv did because #contouronfleek). Ladies, if you're looking for something fun and different to do on a weekend or weeknight, I highlyyyy recommend one of these classes. I can't promise they'll all be as good as the one my girl Anastasia ran but they're worth a try at free-dollars anyway. read more

i use to love this location but honestly it's not like it use to be.... when i first walked inside and i first was not greeted by anyone... i knew exactly what i wanted so i was hoping someone would approach me and ask help me find the items. especially cause there weren't a lot of things out on the floor. ... it took about 15 minutes for me to find some help... when i finally did, i was only able to ask her for one thing. She went to check when she came back she told me they didn't have it then just walked away i didn't even get to ask her for the other things i needed... i look over and there were two associates having a full conversation ... they looked over at me but didnt come over to ask if i needed any help. At this point i have about 5 items in my hand and became hard to hold (there were no baskets on the floor, the associate that checked the stock didn't even offer a basket) . so i ended up just leaving with what i had in my hands..... as i approach the cashier she was friendly and was so unprofessional. she made a hand gesture for me to hand her the things items ... she asked if someone helped me in a monotone voice i said no actually, no one did. never experienced anything like this from the meatpacking location so i'm just overall disappointed and felt they could've done a better job delivering customer service.. :/ read more

I am a Sephora loyalist. Have spent thousands there. Love all different brands of make-up, and buy them regularly. Same for skincare. I have bought from Sephora for over 10 years at stores all over and online a lot. This is by far the WORST Sephora store I have ever encountered. Excited to try a new product? DON"T GO. They won't have it. Want to ask a store worker about a product? DON"T BOTHER. They don't care. Just the worst. I went on a week night, the store was not busy. It took me a while to find someone to help me. Lots of Sephora girls standing, chatting amongst themselves. I had many items in my hands that I wanted to buy. I walked up to a rep and asked if she can help me try a Dior lipstick and sanitize it and she told me to do it myself. I showed her my hands were full of products (I didn't want to put the items on the floor and no one offered me a shopping bag). She cleaned the lipstick with an attitude then walked away. I wanted to spend $ and wanted a salesperson to give me ideas of products to buy and luckily after some time I found a girl with a bob haircut that was very helpful and enthusiastic to perform her job. I ended up buying 3 designer lipsticks, lip pencil, lip liner all because of her help. She is the reason I don't give this store 0 stars. read more

Came here with a girlfriend of mine to help me shop for cologne. Normally this is a terrible and exhausting experience, as employees in other fragrance departments will swarm you with trigger fingers going gangbusters, emptying fragrance clips into your wrists and neck until your nose is numb and your migraine is on blast. But not here. A gentleman named Kevin, whose job title I will deem the Master Scentsman, gave us a customer experience employers dream of. Personable and extremely knowledgeable, he guided us through Fragrance 101 (top/heart/base notes) while helping me select a cologne that matched my style. It was a conversation, not a sales pitch, and I appreciated his genuine feedback and tailored responses to my comments. Love Sephora in general, go here often after work and it's never overwhelmingly crowded which is a huge plus. I did come in a few times and I guess the people didn't want to be there or maybe they got annoyed because I was there but a woman said hi to me and then turn to her friend and made a face of annoyance. When she noticed that I saw her do that she asked me if I needed anything, then turned to her friend with relief when I said no. In fact I needed help, but I went to Erica who was sick actually, but she helped me so much that I spent close to 200 when I came in to get 1 thing.
