I enjoy Sephora overall, but my experience at this location was poor and unacceptable during this visit. The location itself is beautiful, organized and in a beautiful area/location of Center City. The amount of products, selections and prizes are always a pleaser! The following around the store (without offering any kind of assistance) makes it uncomfortable to enjoy shopping at this location. When I reached out for help, it was met with frustration, I tried to be understanding and extend grace but throughout my time it didn't improve.

    Birthday gifts and some samples

Thank you Kelly and Sephora for making my birthday extra special! I went to Sephora to pick up my birthday gift. Kelly was at the door with hand sanitizer and giving info about the safety protocols. There was hand sanitizer available, customers were limited, and staff had masks and gloves. It felt safe. I noticed the birthday rewards were at the table. I told her today was my birthday and I was here to pick up my reward. Kelly was super sweet with birthday wishes especially when she found out that day was my birthday! She gave me one of each of the rewards!!! And also some samples!!! It was such a nice surprise. The pandemic has changed many things but I'm glad Sephora still makes their customer feel special!

I just wanted to update my review and say that I have really enjoyed shopping here during the pandemic. The store is not crowded, counters are wiped down and people are wearing masks, it feels very safe. I've started placing a lot of online orders from purchases in store which gets me free shipping and purchases usually arrive in 2 to 3 days! I would love to get a few more samples in my online orders, but I've been really enjoying doing that, because they have a lot of great products online that aren't in the store. I hope they start caring more hair care products soon in the store. I just wanted to give you a shout out to a few store associates who have been really helpful and I really always enjoy seeing! Alice is always so friendly and so kind, I always enjoy my conversations about hair with her! She always has great advice to give and is very sweet and always very positive. Joey has been very helpful with placing orders online in the store and has given me great information about store events. He's very sweet and he has gone way out of his way to help me! Hunter is very sweet and kind and I always enjoy talking about beauty purchases with him. I really enjoy coming here!

[648] This busy Center City Chestnut Street location is in the perfect spot for lunchtime shopping. The store was recently reorganized so it may be hard to find things at first. They have a few makeup stations which look cool. You can find tons of makeup and perfume options at this store. I usually have good customer service but today it was not so good. Stopped in for perfume, lip gloss and eye makeup remover. Tons of staff just standing around. I asked the one guy for help on finding the eye makeup remover. He sent me to the wrong side of the room. I asked another associate to help me and she pointed me to the shelf and walked away. The shelf was empty behind the sample. Asked another person to look in the drawer for more of the correct size item. Score. I asked another staff person to help me find the correct color lip glass but she gave me the wrong color. I'm glad I opened the box. Never was able to purchase the lip gloss since they were out of stock. It just sucks because I'm spending over $150+ and I feel like hunting employees down. Will I be back? Hopefully ... I just pray today was a fluke.

I came in from Florida for a wedding in Philly. I made a appointment at Sephora to have my full face makeup. My appointment was with Emily. Her talent was amazing making my makeup come out beautiful. I would surely recommend a full face makeup session with Emily!

This Sephora is still as good as always. I came here this morning to buy some items. The entire store is under renovation. So it is completely rearranged, and canvas sheets hanging everywhere. But, they still have a great display up and lots of products to choose from. Sephora is famous for giving your samples. They will make you up to three samples per visit of certain items that you'd like. Which is nice. They always have new and beautiful items. As well as I was able to find a few tried-and-true products that I wanted . Of course Sephora has their levels of reward cards. I have the red card, which gives you the most amount of product rewards. In a way that means I spent far too much money there over the years. Hahaa, however I am a fan of treating yourself well . You gain your rewards by shopping in store and also online. They're very good with their online delivery most times. Sometimes they cheat you on your samples when you order online . But all in all it's a great store went great rewards, and lots of products to choose from. They will give you a paper receipt, or email your receipt, or both. That's nice.

Sephora favorites: summer hair saviors! Sold out online, saw three in stores!

So far, with help and recommendations from their staff, I've purchased eye cream, eye patches, facial moisturizer, toner, and lip glosses, which all seem to be good quality. The cost seems to be equal to or maybe even a little more than, other places you can get some products. Parking is close to non-existent.

I was skeptical because I've tried expensive products (Stilla, Dr. Jart, Smashbox etc.) and nothing had ever worked. Luckily for me, I was quickly approached by one of the helpful sales associates who asked what I was looking for and gave me some great recommendations! She was knowledgeable, so nice, and not at all pushy. She had me try the two products she said worked very well redness and I wound up buying them both - a lightweight moisturizer and a skin soothing mist. I'm new to Korean beauty but I'm really impressed with these two products already (it's only been 2 days!) The moisturizer feels incredible and I've definitely noticed a slight improvement in my redness. The spray was a godsend all weekend on my sunburn and smells so good! It's in a great location in Chinatown, very close to the Reading Terminal market. I'll definitely be back when I visit Philly again!

In a rare bout of experimentation recently, I was all set to pull the trigger on buying some products from Glossier on their website when I saw they had a brick and mortar in Philly and decided to go check it out. And I'm so glad I did! Being able to compare different colors/shades and seeing how they looked on my skin made a huge difference. The ladies in the pink jumpsuits were very friendly and quick to offer recommendations and advice if you ask. My only two critiques: 1. The area right by the front door got very crowded. If you walk a little bit further in towards the back, there were much fewer people with the same exact products to play around with. 2. Some of the samplers needed to be thrown out (dried up, nothing on the bottom). I liked that they had a lot of swabs, makeup remover, and hand sanitizer on hand, but that doesn't really help if the sampler product is useless. They're running a promo now where if you spend over a certain amount, you get a free pink mug!

I love Target, and the Chestnut Street Philadelphia location is a prime example of how a major…read moreretail brand can adapt to city living without losing what makes it great. I grew up visiting Target in the suburbs, so discovering this location in Philadelphia immediately felt familiar. It maintains the brand's accessibility and comfort while smartly adapting to city life. The store is consistently clean, bright, organized, and well-stocked. The staff is friendly and helpful, the grocery selection is genuinely fresh, and the overall experience feels thoughtful and efficient. What Target does especially well is discernment. The product mix feels curated rather than crowded, with a smart balance of affordability, quality, and style across groceries, home goods, essentials, and private-label products. Their app also stands out, particularly the real-time inventory tools that make pickup and delivery seamless. More broadly, Target is one of the few major retailers that has preserved the strengths of brick-and-mortar shopping while still evolving for modern life. I suspect part of that comes from the company's Minnesota roots and the strong Scandinavian influence embedded in the culture there. You can feel it in the stores: clean layouts, restrained design, thoughtful presentation, efficiency paired with warmth, and an emphasis on functionality without sacrificing quality. It stands apart from most big-box retail in America. The Chestnut Street location embodies that philosophy perfectly. Similar to what brands like Barnes & Noble and Bloomingdale's have done with their urban stores, Target has adapted away from oversized suburban formats in certain city environments without sacrificing the core experience. The nearby location by the Barnes Foundation is excellent as well. It's larger than the Chestnut Street store but not a sprawling mega store, making it especially well-suited for city living while still offering a broader inventory and the convenience of free parking. Both locations feel like thoughtful adaptations of the traditional suburban retail model rather than watered-down versions. As parents, we've also been consistently impressed by Target's private-label products. Their diapers, formula, yogurt pouches, peanut butter, dairy products, pasta, and other everyday essentials have all been of excellent quality at prices meaningfully lower than those of many national brands. Target's Philadelphia stores demonstrate how thoughtful, adaptable retail can succeed in urban environments while preserving the core values that built customer loyalty in the first place. Highly recommended!
