Sephora is located on the 2nd floor near Boscov's at Providence Place mall. Sephora offers a selection of makeup, skincare, fragrance, hair and beauty products from multiple brands. It is my go to for skincare and hair essentials. Some of the items I like are Drunk Elephant's moisturizer and cleanser, Supergoop! sunscreen, and amika shampoo and conditioner. Sephora does not have sales often. Therefore, when I saw the Sephora Savings Event was back from 11/5 to 11/11/24, I ran to Sephora to get some of my favorite items. As a Sephora Beauty Insider member, I got 10% off each of the purchased items. Also, since I spent over $50 and shopped in store, I mentioned the free knitted tote bag at checkout and got it. Supplies are limited and only available in stores. It is a beautiful small bag and heavy duty too. The Beauty Insider Program is Sephora's free rewards program that lets you earn points for rewards. Also, all Beauty Insider members are eligible to redeem one Birthday Gift per year during the month of their birthday. Another benefit is free standard shipping on all orders. Sephora at Providence Place mall has a similar layout to other Sephora locations. It is very spacious and all the brands are labelled. The staff are friendly and always offer assistance. The overall men's department is not big, but they do have colognes, after shaves, body wash and many other men's grooming essentials. I've been a fan of Ky Michael's for several years. I've never received so many compliments on style and color! Ky performs his magic, always listens and advises on what might suit you best. Some reviews may indicate expense however it's a total worthwhile investment. A gorgeous "frame" around your face is most important! Also the salon is comfortably chic and welcoming. I felt uncomfortable as a black person in a store that I thought embraced diversity. I encourage anyone in this mall to shop elsewhere (MAC - the artists there were super friendly and warm). I was at sephora yesterday in Providence Mall with my friend and we were looking around and found some nice products and then we started talking to a lady who works there, her name is MJ, she was extremely helpful, walked my friend and I through our skin care routine, with steps, and told us what products to use when and where. (her manager, Bo, did as well, he was super helpful as well, they're both great!!!) They helped us find a couple good products for our skin, they're super super friendly people, helpful and accommodating. (They should get a raise). My favorite place to get all my cosmetic and skincare needs! I've tried using skincare products from the drugstore, but I find they always cause me to break out or make my skin really dry. I went in today because I had run out of facial cleanser and because my cat broke my bronzing powder (he was playing with it as if it was a hockey puck running around the house swatting at it. I tried to catch him, but he was too fast. Next thing I knew, he pushed the bronzing powder down the stairs and it broke into pieces). They had the facial cleanser, but not the bronzing powder that I use so I asked a store employee. She looked it up and said there weren't any in the store, but offered to order it for me and have it shipped to my house for free. I didn't realize this was an option so I was happy that they were able to do that for me. A+ read more

I asked an employee for help and she sighed and was continued with her work then chose to help me. I have worked in customer service so stocking things in a nearly empty store is not as important as helping a customer. She vaguely told me the area to go to. Then a bald employee was sent over and this was really much worse as they were horrible. I asked them for help choosing a color and applying a new product. It is a skin tone product so it is especially important for me to get a good match. When I asked for help applying it and picking out a shade the employee said to me "Do it yourself isn't that what you do at home?" and then they pretty much walked away. Anyone who does knows that their stuff is not particularly cheap, unless you get their store brand stuff, so if you're going to cry about their prices, save yourself the aggravation and find an Ulta. This is a pretty damn good Sephora, and actually feels spacious. My "home" Sephora in Canton, CT is tiny. I didn't see any shortage of applicators and the stuff to try didn't look too grody - except the Nars eyeshadows. I don't know if I lucked out, or what, but I saw some people complaining about the lack of applicators and the nastiness of the samples on here so before we came up here, I was kind of apprehensive (I was researching things to do while the BF was playing in a Magic the Gathering tournament in the convention center next door to the mall.) but Sephora did me well. It also had that nice Sephora smell, I don't know how else to describe it...all the intermingling perfumes or whatever...but you weren't knocked over the head with it. It's a Sephora. You know , makeup and perfumes etc But this one stands out among the rest of the amazing staff !! You want the craziest colors of eyeshadows ? Just say the color and someone will guide you to a buncha different brands and tones. Wanna do something about your "flaws "? They'd come to your rescue with the best advice. I had the most horrible experience today in the Sephora today and I'm never coming back. And Recommend that no one shop at this location. My friends and I are in town for a professional work conference and I forgot my makeup at home. One of my friends is a certified Sephora color specialist and he offered to help me pick out a full face worth of makeup for the conference. It took the associates 20 minutes to greet us. He told them about his credentials and they moved on. But then the associates, namely a woman named Karen began following us around the store like we were criminals for the duration of our 1.5hr visit. We periodically caught them watching us as if expecting us to steal. THIS IS NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE. After a while it just became too exhausting and diminishing to keep spending my hard earned money in a store where I am made to feel and treated like a criminal. I cut my shopping short and completed my $143 purchase. Over my history with the store I have spent thousands of dollars on beauty products. Today I made my last purchase and will not be shopping there again. Additionally since my friends and I are black and no one else was being stalked around the store I am left to believe that Karen and her associates treated us like we were criminals because we are black. It feels awful to be so rudely treated and grossly mishandled and have spent so much money at a company that doesn't appreciate my business. I went to a 30 min appointment to get my make up done with Herlyn and she started 20 mins late ... then proceeded to give me the worst make up job I have ever had .. she was pressed for time and was making it very clear she was late , when I expressed that I wasn't impressed by what she did with my make up she says " I have 9 mins til my next client " mind you she started late ! This Sephora is OK - the people who work there are the best part about it. They know everything about everything, and if they're unsure, they find someone who is. The staff is great. The selection is pretty good, too. They're missing a few brands I would like to see, like Josie Maran and Vincent Longo, but they do carry Korres makeup and the full Tarte colletion. So, why only 3 stars ,you ask? Because I would not use their samples for the life of me. They're frigtening. You can tell they're not very fresh, and that every teenage girl under the Providence sun has come in here and had her way with it. I mean, YUCK. There's never enough little sample wands and applicators out, so you know those samples are teaming with bacteria - and I assure you, I'm far from a germaphobe. Part of the draw of Sephora is the ability to try before you buy, so it is a drawback. However, they do have a ridiculously outstanding return policy. If you lose the receipt, they'll give you a store credit and never, ever seem judgy about it. So, I'm loyal here. It's a great spot to get your makeup, bath and hair products in Providence. Came here Saturday as I had scheduled a "Special Occasion Makeover" for my birthday party. When I had made the appointment I was told to bring pictures of the look I wanted. I had a particular look I had never tried on before, so I brought in about 10 pictures! lol. Idiana was my make up artist, & from the minute she introduced herself I felt completely comfortable. She knew exactly the look I was going for and she asked me what particular shades of color I wanted for each thing. Idiana taught me along the way some cool tricks to do when I'm applying make-up at home. When she finally finished I was SO IN LOVE with the outcome! I thanked her over and over. It came out much better than I had expected and everyone at the party loved the make up. She did such an awesome job that I will be requesting her to do my make up next time. THANK YOU!! read more

I've been in this store a lot over the years and have always had success. I'm not the type to wear a lot of makeup day-to-day, but occasionally there's an event or special occasion that I want something nice for so I pop in. I'm always overwhelmed (so many people! So many brands! So many colors!) and not sure exactly how to go about achieving my end-goal, but there are always friendly, helpful salespeople all over the place. I noticed a lot of reviews state otherwise but that has never been my experience. Someone always approaches me within a few minutes, I explain my situation, and within a half hour I have exactly what I'm looking for in a shade/brand I never would have been able to arrive at on my lonesome. One of the things I found particularly cool recently was their perfume samples. I don't wear perfume but wanted some for my wedding day. Rather than walk in, spray a bunch of different scents in my face, kill my sense of smell, get a headache, and arbitrarily spend a bunch of money one of them (gosh perfume is expensive!), they had sample kits. Basically, they each have 5 samples in them, you try them each in turn on your own time, and then there's a card that you bring back and claim the full-size version of the sample you liked the best. It was perfect for me. It's easy enough to narrow down the individual kits by picking one with at least 1 scent you already think you may like. I can't speak for the prices because it all seems expensive to me and like I said, I'm not really a make-up person, but this is definitely my go-to spot for when I need something special/specific/out of my comfort zone. read more

I love this store. I spend too much money here. I never hesitate to stop in as this is a great place to browse and also a great place to pick up things that I know I need. There is something for everyone at Sephora, hair care, skin care make up and more. I could search their selection for hours. They carry a many of the value sets that you see on the Sephora website which makes me so happy, I am a total sucker for a value set. The store is organized, clean and always stocked. The staff is helpful but does not overwhelm you or try to sell you things you do not need or want. Now for a short story: When I had my wallet stolen last year with a $50 gift card in it they were able to look up the info I had from the gift card recite glad the gift giver kept it) and cancel the stolen gift card and award me the store credit. The manger went out of her way to call Sehora corporate directly instead of having me do it and this really made for a great experience. read more

I used to adore Sephora. They carried a line of their own body products which included a fabulous dry oil spray. No longer. That whole line was discontinued with no indication of any replacement / reformulation. Bummer. Attempts at asking salespeople there to suggest something similar was a total waste of time (btw: try c. Booth dry oil spray- available online, awesome after a shower!). The customer service at this location is extremely hit and miss. Mostly miss. I've wandered the store several times with salespeople all around without anyone offering assistance. There have been some pleasant exceptions. If considering a purchase at Sephora, generally I wait til I have a few items on my list and then go online and get the free shipping. Now, I consider myself a low-maintenance kind of gal. But the gravitational pull into this store is undeniable to my girly senses. If I walk past this store, you can guarantee that either my eyes or whole body is getting drawn here. They have a wide selection of makeup from the soft natural palette of Bobbi Brown to the bold statement colors of KatVonD. There is no denying that the on floor staff are very helpful and willing to match you to a makeup that fits your needs. I have a lot of redness and scarring on my face and was looking for a good coverup that takes minimal work and doesn't have me breaking out. A staff referred me to a Laura Mercier secret camo concealer-- that is oil-free and has two shades (perfect for transitioning from summer into winter). She matched my skin tone to my ideal palette and I was on my merry little way. Get this. Within a year: I FINISHED IT. THIS NEVER HAPPENS. I usually never ask for help. Mostly because I don't want to be coerced into buying really expensive makeup. Thus, grabbing any ol' makeup. Unsurprisingly, I would barely use it until it's expiration. This is typical. Ever since then, I will always ask the Sephora staff on advice or recommendations for my skin care or makeup application. They are usually really receptive to your needs and they DEFINITELY know what they are talking about. Perhaps I'll ask them for a good light tinted foundation for everyday wear when I pick up a refill of my now favorite concealer! read more

I went specifically to Sephora because I wanted to talk to sales people that know about a variety of make-up options -- this trip was for foundation. I was only buying foundation and then making my way to my next destination. I was not disappointed. I lost the sheet of paper that had the name of the woman that helped me. She was patient and answered EVERY ONE OF MY QUESTIONS. (I am not a make-up person and I had a lot of questions). She helped me choose a product that was just what I described that I wanted. She taught me new techniques at applying it, while she was applying it on me to demonstrate. I am happy to report that I can do what she taught me. She was not pushy when I said that I was only there for foundation. I appreciate this. I will go back when I need to learn about options. It is not my every-day mascara-kind of place. read more

Such a small selection for being in such an nice Mall. Even the store itself feels quite small. I went in over the weekend because I ran out of my cologne and also need to grab a couple of other things... everything that I wanted seemed to be really difficult to find, out of stock or only available in the largest size possible. Which would have been fine, had this Sephora's prices seemed higher than the one in the Pru or Natick. I have mixed experiences here. When I'm in and out and nobody bugs me, it's a five-star experience. However, try to return anything and it's another story. Everyone plays dumb regardless of whether you have the receipt or not. Girl tried to refund me $7 for a $42 item even with a receipt, so I went and got it off the shelf to make things more clear for her. It was SKU issue, but use your common sense for pete's sake. Another annoying time, I tried a perfume there and they didn't have any in stock and they told me that the perfume was in fact discontinued. So since they just explained how there was no reason to have the perfume on the shelves at all, I asked if I could buy the sample bottle. Long story short and after a long argument they offered to just fill some tubes with the perfume for me to take home. Why they wouldn't let me buy the sample bottle for a perfume they didn't have in stock and would never sell again is beyond me. read more

This place is so expensive, whenever I walk in I know I won't be spending anything less than $70.00, which is why I also reserve the trip for stuff I need. They have just about everything I want, and if they don't have it I find a good substitute. One irritating feature is that the baseline Sephora makeup brand doesn't have a flat brown eyeshadow. Everything has so much freaking shimmer in it. In fact, there wasn't a single pot of flat dark brown in the whole store. I had to go to M.A.C. Also, the staff help is hit or miss, leaning towards hit. They're usually very, very nice. And you can't beat the beauty rewards, I don't know why more places don't do this. read more

I am a closet cologne addict, and THIS Sephora is the best thing to ever happen to me. (I say this Sephora, because the one at Warwick Mall is way too small and has a tiny selection, but the staff there are just as great as Prov Place Mall staff). For anyone who shops for cologne/perfume, you are probably used to the pushy, rude, annoying sales people at Macy's, and other department stores. Those days are gone, people!! Ive been going to this Sephora for a few years, and every time, the service is better than any place I have ever shopped at for cologne. The sales people here are EXTREMELY friendly and knowledgeable. They have NEVER tried to give me a sales pitch about the "newest and best selling" cologne out there. They ask if I need any help, and tell me to get them if I need anything when I tell them I am just browsing. They do not give me glares for smelling upwards of 20 colognes, they actually encourage me testing them out! In the past, Ive been stuck between two or three colognes, and they bottled me up small samples of the scents I liked, and sent me on my way. This is a rarity, people! The staff are also extremely knowledgeable about their products. In the past, Ive been looking for a new scent for a specific occasion/scent profile, and they've always sent me on the right path. This shows me that the company is invested in hiring people who are genuinely interested, instead of a sales person looking for a commission. I honestly hope that this type of customer experience is preserved. There is no other beauty/scent store that has this same belief about letting customers shop in peace. And lastly, it's paid off (for Sephora). I recommend everyone I know to come here, and when Im ready to make a purchase, I always come into this Sephora to buy it. And Ive made many a purchase here. A little expensive for make-up but it is very good quality and last a long time . I enjoy this store because its fun to try on the make up and it is very sanitary . It is also pretty clean for a make up place . Like a lot of places they put the lipstick or nail polish all over the paper and shelves and there isnt that much of that kind of stuff there. Also the staff is amazing , they ALWAYS help you to the greatest extent when trying to find a good color to match your skin, etc. they also do a good job doing makeup , my mom gets her makeup done there a lot and it is free to do , you just have to buy a product . Went in sometime last week in the afternoon looking for a cool toned blush. I've only ever owned a handful of blushes, so I figured it was time to branch out. The employee who helped me went above and beyond to help me find the right blush (I think her name was Keisa.. hope I'm spelling that right!). I sat down and we tried few different blushes (ultimately ended up settling on a Tarte blush) but she also recommended a couple different highlighters too. Whenever I ask for recommendations/help in any Sephora location, I usually go home with a product I'm happy with, but I feel this employee went above and beyond. By far the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. As a previous manager of sephora I am in shock by the lack of communication throughout the staff as well as overall interest in their customers. I work in the providence place mall and shop at sephora frequently. I have NEVER been offered assistance! I normally spend about $100 each time to think of the amount of money they would make if they actually spent time to interact with their customers! I don't know how this store is profitable I would rather shop online than give that store my money. If you're in need of any assistance I recommend going to a counter at Nordstrom where people will actually look at you. Absolutely disgusted with the way they run their floor. read more

Without hesitation, I'll gladly yell to the world that Sephora is one of my all time favourite stores. With much ease can a paycheck disappear within 10 minutes of stepping foot through the front doors. I love their Beauty Bank rewards card, something no lady should ever be without (you get a point for every dollar spent- reach one hundred points and wham, you're rewarded with either a freebie lux sample or full sized product depending on the current promotion). They carry all the fabulous names such as Marc Jacobs, Doir, OPI, Too Faced as well as their own in-house trademarked brand (which offers inexpensive, great products). This particular location is sadly not as massive as its other counterparts. While it certainly carries all of the nifty goodies and high brands Sephora is known for, the physical area itself is way too small. Every time I step in I literally need to dive through the crowds to get up close and personal with specific items which unfortunately, are usually either sold out or on backorder. This could ultimately be due to it's immensely high traffic location and lack of floor space but regardless, it can be a little frustrating when the shelves are constantly going bare. To add, I absolutely love perfume (which eats up a good % of my weekly pay) but I do not love walls and walls of smells clamored together in a teeny-weeny, cramped space. The customer service despite the abundance of guests is usually top notch: the ladies are attentive without being overbearing and are more than happy to check in with you while you're browsing. Just the level of service I prefer! Granted Providence Place is certainly not my favourite mall of all time, but Sephora is one of the few stores that keep me going back time after time, headache or not. read more

This Sephora is incredibly small and isn't as well-stocked as the Copley store I'm used to. However, the basics are all there. I wasn't thinking and popped in on a Saturday (my own mistake). You literally needed a machete to hack through the crowd it was SO packed! Beware of coming on the weekends if you're not good with crowds. Right when I walked in I was approached by a sales associate named Fiona. I was honestly impressed they had so many people on staff for such a small store. All the sales associates were assisting customers rather than just standing around hovering- thought that was awesome! I went in for a foundation that perfectly matched my hard to replicate olive skin. Fiona went above and beyond. She asked questions about my skin type, took a color scan (it was so cool yall have to check that out), and tested a few foundations from different brands on my jawline. I didn't realize how uncommon olive undertone foundations are, but it took about 6 or 7 tries to get it right. Talk about attention to detail. I imagine it must have been frustrating but she remained friendly, professional, and sweet. After we found the perfect shade (literally a perfect match), she added some blush and bronzer. I loved the blush she used so much I couldn't leave without it plus. Shhh, I'm an easy sell. Sephora is always such a hit or miss- either you receive incredible customer service or nada. I left feeling so happy and pretty. Although this particular Sephora was much too small for my own personal liking, the customer service totally made up for the uncomfortable cramped space. Not the greatest of Sephoras. The last two times I've gone and actually purchased things their "rewards" card scanner or what have you was not working so I didn't get my points and was not able to get the gifts. It's smaller than most Sephoras Ive gone to. Some of the product I needed both times in the color I needed both times were sold out. (Havent really experienced that before) Just an okay experience, nothing to report on other than the points being an issue two times in a row. read more

THIS location is just OK because they no longer carry Givenchy (hope this isn't a Sephora-wide decision) and didn't have the latest NARS lip treatment I was looking for... Yet, somehow, SOMEHOW, I left dropping just over two - hundo. Say whaa?! My sales girl was really nice and had a name so similar to mine that we thought we were connected the whole time and that got me so excited I ran around the store like a chipmunk on LSD wildly painting my hands with every available YSL shade: THIS ONE OR THIS ONE OR OOOOOO oooo OOOOO how about THAT one? You get the picture. All the while, filling my little basket. Thud. She reminded me of BB cream which I was soooo stoked about because, in all honesty, it WAS what I was looking for and had not even known - scratch that - hadn't remembered about it (damn benzodiazepines). I've been wanting this shizz for like, WEEKS. Especially after the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer broke me out :( So anyways she seemed intent on getting me to just take a sample of the Borsica BB cream home but I was insistent, like, NO, OH NO - I'm gonna BUY this. And some YSL, NARS, Benefit, etc etc ETC while I'm at it. Because when I got to the cashier (sorry Joshy who was with me and had little to do in this store after scoping out the small men's cologne section) well it took another eon of forever. So I scooped up more Un-Necessities. Niceties? Nicely. Check-out girl had crayyyy green eye shadow. I hate to say this but it made me dislike her. I don't know why. Bad karma. Sadly I get home and my BB Cream has SPARKLES in it :( :( :( I did NOT see this in the store lighting. And the sparkles are big. And it contains MICA! A BIG no no ingredient for me and my problem skin. I told my sales girl but I am a pain in the ass and don't expect the sales people to know everything about every product. In all fairness it was awesome - it is awesome for the most part. Just those damn reflector particles. So I gotta go back, make some returns. I wasn't thrilled with the recommendations I got, but I was really happy with the STYLE of service which is why I choose Sephora for makeup instead of a place like Nordstrom who has an identical return policy. The quiet carpeting in Nordstrom is intimidating and even though all this makeup shit I love is equally expensive no matter where I get it - at least in Sephora it's LOUD, CROWDED, and CHAOTIC. Just what I love. That's the kind of environment I NEED to be in, when I'm buying something as superfluous as makeup. Now, I think today I will have to go to return many of the things I purchased. But it was worth it for discovering a worthy Givenchy Mister Light replacement in the form of.... YSL Touche Eclat. Beauty Insider Sale. That's beauty INSIDE - no... Out. LET'S FACE IT - new motto? I freaking love Sephora, and I have always enjoyed shopping at this one in particular. It can be hard to keep the testers relatively clean(ish) and the applicators/clean up stations stocked, but this location always seems to do it! My knowledge of makeup is extremely small, but I'm trying to learn! I wanted to try my hand at foundation, something I've never used before, and walked into this Sephora on a pretty busy weekend day. A sales assistant approached me and asked me what I was looking for, she used some type of alien device to take a picture of my skin and matched me up immediately with a NARS BB cream that blended in perfectly with my skin, and gave me a sample to try at home. Sephora is definitely my go-to place when I want to splurge on high end makeup. I'm not much of a Mac kinda gal so I'm okay with the fact that Sephora doesn't carry Mac. One brand I wish they did carry is Amazing Cosmetics. It seems like only the major big stores carry this band like the one in New York, so I usually just order the brand on their website when I need to. I tend to order more through the website though because they give you a promo codes through email for awesome samples, but when I want to actually try the product before purchasing I go the the store. They'll give you samples to take home before committing to buy a product since they are pricey. I also love the fact that you can return almost any product back whenever, used or not for any reason. As far as the costumer service I have no complaints. Someone always asks if I need help when I'm browsing. I've also gotten my makeup done here 4 years ago for prom, and last Halloween where my makeup artist was able to literally transform me into tinker bell (it was kind of creepy how similar I looked like the character!) Both experiences the makeup artist listened to what I wanted and did great jobs. They made sure to ask how much makeup I was comfortable with before applying anything.
