I've had better experience at other locations to be honest. I did have spots missing and compared to other locations, I've had a better job done elsewhere. I've been to Citron about three times now in the past couple of months for facials, and each time I've left literally GLOWING -- my pores are practically invisible! The staff is extremely welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. Covid precautions are rigorously enforced, with temperatures taken upon arrival and only one customer at the register at a time, which I think everyone can appreciate right now. I've had the Citron Renewal Facial, Dermaplaning, the Relaxation Haven, and brow maintenance done with Robin, who is FANTASTIC, by the way, and I couldn't be happier with the results. I'm pretty much addicted to their facial services. I've been to a few other spas across Rhode Island and never left feeling as relaxed or pampered. Today (I just got back and realized I hadn't left a previous review) I had the Glo Beauty Enzyme facial with Erin, and it was genuinely incredible! The Pumpkin Enzyme and the Cranberry/Pomegranate Enzyme smell otherworldly. I can wholeheartedly recommend each of the treatments I've had at Citron -- if your skin could use some TLC during the Covid Era, definitely swing by Citron. If you need some extra TLC, definitely check out Citron Spa! Not only is the staff welcoming, but the modern boho interior of the spa elevates the experience. With every 30, 60, or 90 minute booking, they offer a certain amount of time in the infrared sauna! That is what drew me in initially, but the services are what's kept me a loyal, reoccurring customer! I went on a day off for a 60 minute massage, and it was the most peaceful part of my day! I just had a really great pedicure at Citron. It was my first time there, and I'd highly recommend it for anyone looking for some pampering and relaxation. After checking in I was led to their waiting room, where there was lemon water to drink, as well as some light snacks for guests to nibble on. As I waited for my esthetician I noticed that the space smelled really lovely. Combined with the relaxing music, that definitely puts you in a calm mindset! Sovannie did a wonderful job with my pedicure and had great attention to detail. Before sitting down, I got to choose my polish color and aromatherapy scent. (I went for the full "Citron Pedicure" which included aromatherapy and a bunch of other nice additions.) The pedicure started with a warm foot soak with bath salts and the scented oil I had chosen. Sovannie then expertly shaped my nails. This was followed by an exfoliating scrub (which smelled amazing), a foot massage with lotion (which also smelled great - kind of like rosemary), and then hot steamed towels. At the end of the hour, the polish was applied. My feet look and feel heavenly! Overall it was a really nice experience and a great way to treat myself for my birthday, which is why I had sprung for the slightly more expensive/longer pedicure service. There are four chairs for pedicures in the nail bar area, so Citron would also be a great place to come with a few friends. Christine followed up with me and offered me a complimentary 90-minute facial and 30-minute sauna to make up for the poor experience I had during my first visit. Robin did my facial, and she was great. It was a relaxing and wonderful experience, exactly what I had hoped for. Christine also took the time to let me know that they had implemented more training for the individual that did my last facial. I appreciate that she took my feedback seriously, and appreciate her going the extra step to make sure I had a positive experience. Booked myself for a head to toe heaven and brow wax with Robin and it was the best treatment I've ever had in my life. I left feeling like a new person. Robin is extremely good at what she does. My mom had a treatment in the room over for a relaxation haven with Erin and enjoyed her session so much. The aesthetic is beautiful in the spa and the staff is extremely friendly. This review is for the nail bar only, although I hear their other spa services are fabulous. When in need of quiet, relaxation and beautiful nails, Citron is an absolute gem of an option. With luxurious services and oodles of color options, you're hard pressed to find a more perfect option than this place. I love the nail bar here -- it's truly the perfect spot for a mani/pedi side-by-side with a friend or even on your own. There are many different types of manicures and pedicures to choose from, but I always seem to stick with their signature Citron service and have been quite blissed out each time. In addition to being very relaxing, clean and calm in terms of the service room, I love that Citron's lounge (or 'relaxation room') is light-filled and treat-filled. Cold water infused with fresh citrus, sweet snacks to nibble and plenty of reading material to get you in the zone. It's just lovely. Dawn is my favorite -- she gives an amazing pedicure and perfect nails. I love that Citron offer Vinyuxe -- a durable yet easily-removed polish that doesn't shred my nails like other long-lasting nail products. It costs $5 but is totally worth it, as I've worn it chip-free for over a week and it dries in about 10 minutes. Definitely treat yourself to a little treat at this spot -- it really is the ideal place to go with a companion for side-by-side treatments and pampering. read more

I really can't believe I have yet to write a review of Citron - maybe that's because I have always emerged so utterly relaxed and carefree about the world I forget to put fingers to keyboard to write about it. The beginning: You walk into the spa and are greeted by the receptionist who takes your coat if you want and leads you to the relaxation/ waiting area. She offers you a heated neck pillow (take it) and offers you a beverage, alcoholic or no. There is also self serve water with fruit (usually lemon) and baked goods out on the table. Mini muffins are one of my favorite offerings. I recommend arriving a tad early to partake. The middle: I have enjoyed the following services: massage, prenatal massage, manicure, pedicure, and facial. The massage is excellent, and the prenatal massage is about as good as it can get without a special table. The manicure and pedicures are done with care and gentle hand/ foot/ lower arm/leg massages. This is a nail bar within a spa, not a get your polish done and get out. The facial was really cool. I generally do not get facials but the technician really talked me through everything, including what products she was using (you have to keep your eyes closed but there are a lot of cleansers and such being used so I appreciated this!), what she was doing with my skin, what she thought the strengths and weaknesses were, etc. I appreciated the thoughtful communication. The end: The therapists always leave for a minute (obviously so you can get dressed) but meet you outside with water or just to check in. You can hang in the relaxation room to gather yourself for a few minutes before leaving. There's no pressure to purchase anything else- I'm only ever asked if I want to book future massages because they know I don't just come for relaxation. One note- I often have to wait for appointments, however in my experience that is because they really take their time with each client and don't rush anyone. It is a spa focused on relaxation and renewal, so I always refrain from scheduling anything afterwards and enjoy my afternoon escape. Just be aware! read more

What a neat little place! Bonus if you check in on the Yelp app you get 10% off of your visit. I went with my best friend for a spa day. Her husband surprised her with it as her gift. The only thing we were bummed about is that we thought we were getting massages at the same time, but really we were going separately. Which was lame since we couldn't chat during our individual pedicures. On to the good stuff! Jessie was an awesome masseuse, I really enjoyed my massage. The only weird thing was I swear she was sipping on an iced beverage every so often during the massage. I could hear the ice clinking and I couldn't figure out what else it could be. Fanny was my favorite of all time. Best massage I've ever had. I never left with red eyebrows and they always were just right. Sadly, Fanny has moved on to other endeavors. I booked an eyebrow appointment with Christina which was pretty good. She's super nice; she really seems to care about the customer's wants/needs (and the owner if I'm not mistaken). Sadly, my eyebrows were still a little red when leaving. Not too shabby they still looked pretty good. I've also encountered two other ladies in my travels to Citron. I will allow them to remain nameless... as my experiences with them left a lot to be desired. I made an appointment for a massage with a new person and it was so rough/painful and I had difficulty walking after. This occurred even after I disclosed I had back pain and asked that the massage not have so much pressure. You win some, you lose some. I still went back for one more visit because I really want to love this place. The decor is beautiful, the customer service for the most part is great, and online booking are all things I love... So, I went in for a 7 day mani/ pedi and an eyebrow appointment. The mani/pedi was just ok. They use Aveda products which was new for me. I ended up feeling pretty oily because they kept putting too much nail oil and products on my hands. My cuticles were pushed back but when they went to nip the excess they were left jagged and uneven. My "7 day polish" lasted only two. This is more than likely due to the amount of cuticle oil on my hands prior to the polish application and it didn't adhere properly. Unfortunately the pedicure didn't last for much longer than that either. Additionally, The hand and leg massages left a lot to be desired. I got done with my nail appointment a little early and was told to wait in the waiting area for my eyebrow appointment. I ended up waiting about 20-25 minutes for a 15 minute eyebrow appointment. So, I decided to skip the brows and head for the cashier. I probably would have waited if someone had at least checked in on me and told me what was going on? Sadly, that didn't happen. Though the person at the checkout was kind enough to give me a small discount on the service I did receive. So sad Fanny is gone :( read more

They are super easy to book online or on the mind body app, and pretty competitive price wise. I also really like that they are open Sundays and every day but Tuesday. I love the cute waiting area and offer of wine, champagne or other drinks. Definitely leave feeling pampered. I mostly see Sovannie but sometimes have seen others based on schedule availability. I haven't had a pedicure in years and decided to splurge at Citron. What a mistake. I arrived to a bachelorette party in the waiting area, which was about 80+ degrees. It's a tight waiting room to be literally sitting in the middle of a party, but I get it. Just something to consider if you are looking for a more spa like environment. That being said, it is a a cute waiting area with water and coffee and a cute window seat. The manager informed me my nail tech was running behind schedule due to a polish issue. This made me nervous, but I tried to stay positive while sipping my mimosa. Everyone has a bad day, right? Anyway, I got brought back for my service and was surprised to learn the pedicure chairs do not have massage capabilities. One of the jets in the foot tub also didn't work until a co-worker assisted my tech about 15 minutes into my pedicure. It was also my nail techs first day. That being said, I tried to be compassionate and patient because we've all had a first day. Now the reason for the two star review is the pedicure itself. The tech used green as a base coat initially, like a transparent green for a French pedicure. It clearly showed through the pink polish used as the top coat. I asked her to redo it, which she did. She also struggled with the French tip. There are some nails that have a straight across tip and others that are rounded. She also used too much lotion, to the point I couldn't walk in my shoes after without sliding around. Finally, this whole experience took just shy of 2 hours and cost me $55. Granted, the manager came over and offered to give me 10% off, but I had already been charged full price. She told me she'd give me $10 on my account. I have no plans to return and would recommend going to a spa with more experienced techs. That being said, the bachelorette party before me expressed really enjoying their massages. My facial with Brianna was so relaxing and comfortable, she walked me though every step and was able to give me recommendations about the skincare regimen I should try to control my breakouts. My skin looks and feels amazing! Before my facial, I tried out the spa's new infrared sauna since it was complimentary to my facial purchase. I felt so rejuvenated afterward (although sweaty), and I slept so good the next night! Not happy. Went this afternoon for a basic manicure before an event I have tomorrow. The manicurist put me under that drier and I never saw her again. When I looked at them they were a mess in some areas. But since she was gone what could I do? Turned the dryer back on a few more times and then went to the front desk to pay. The front desk person told me the manicurist ran out for lunch. Still left a nice tip, but I won't be back. Dropping $30 (including tip) for a basic manicure that looks sloppy, which I will have to try fixing myself tonight isn't worth it. read more

We were treated to a night of martinis and Citron manicures at a Yelp Elite event last week; it was a wonderful introduction to the spa, its services and its staff. Delighted with the results of my "express" mani, I wasted no time in booking a Citron Pedicure just four days later. Extra points to a place that has the online booking process all figured out; it was so easy to log onto Citron's web site and see a listing of services, including each individual staff member's name and her available times. When you arrive, you are treated to a beverage of your choice: citrus-infused water, various flavors of tea, white or red wine, a mimosa--all are complimentary. There's a light-filled relaxation room with a big picture window that looks out on Wayland Avenue, where you can await your appointment, or relax afterwards, while nibbling on some homemade treats whipped up by salon owner Christina's mom. Christina has an impressive pedigree: many years of experience working as an esthetician on Newbury Street in Boston means she's a seasoned pro, used to working with discerning customers in a swank location. She almost looks too young to boast so many years of experience! I attribute that to her magical skincare powers as an accomplished esthetician, and hope that some of her collected wisdom might eventually be passed on to me. The fact that Wayland Square's now home to a salon boasting Back Bay credentials, is definitely exciting. It's taken a long time to find the ideal place to pamper my peds; I think I've finally found it, in this welcoming, modern space that is very "Zen" in appearance: it's designed for total exhalation of the outside world, all cool cucumber green, white and dark wood (everyone, release a collective "aaahhhh"). The day was blustery and cold, so it felt especially wonderful to dip my feet into a warm, fragrant tub and enjoy a Citron pedicure with Dawn, who did a terrific job. The array of colors from which you can choose is outstanding! The adjoining nail bar, located in the same room, is so cute; it would be an especially fun way to spend an hour with a couple of girlfriends, chatting happily side by side while you all get freshly varnished together. There are also massage and skin care treatment rooms, which look very calming. The spa offers two massage therapists, a male and a female. There is a fantastic array of products for sale as well. If you're pleased with your service (as I was), it pays to book your next appointment then and there, during the checkout process. If you do, you'll receive a 10% discount off your next service! Thank you, Yelp, for introducing me to my new favorite place on the planet. I found Citron when browsing Yelp for a nice, upscale salon to get a mani/pedi before a vacation with my friend. I wanted to go somewhere nicer than your typical nail salons, and I definitely made the right choice. Immediately upon entering Citron, you are transported to what feels like a different world. You forget about bustling Wayland Square right outside the door as you you are calmed by the scent of the magical Aveda products that they use. We were seated in a room where we were offered mimosas and of course, we indulged. We were then greeted by the women who would be doing are nails. They were very nice and paid attention to detail, and explained what every product was that they were using. I was pleased to find out that they hand make their lotions and scrubs! We went in May and had the Rose Water and Himalayan Salt mani/pedi. It was so relaxing. My second visit to Citron was for a Stress Fix massage. The woman was so kind and even the tone of her voice made me feel at ease. She listened when I asked for less pressure (the stress fix massage is typically more pressure) and checked in the make sure I was okay. I have been a long-time fan of the Aveda Stress-Fix lotion, and the massage was even better! When you're looking to treat yourself to a higher end spa experience, look no further than Citron. Not too many male reviews here so let me kick this off. Love your feet! I got my first Man-Pedi 2 years ago after a bit of convincing by my SHG (smokin' hot girlfriend) and I loved the treatment but hated the smell of the place. With Citron Spa I got an amazing treatment leaving my feel feeling softer than a baby's face with none of the caustic fumes of a nail salon. Greeted by a Sunday morning mimosa in their relaxation room, I immediately found my quiet voice (a level I never knew I had) and settled myself into a calm state, ready for my "pampering" (note to self - find manly word to use in place of pampering). The provider, Monique, was attentive and we held a nice conversation throughout the 50 minute service - which is a new thing for me during a pedicure, which I really enjoyed. My feet were soaked, scrubbed and massaged all with products that were only lightly scented so I am not leaving here smelling like I just spent an hour at Yankee Candle. Overall a wonderful treatment and totally worth the extra price for a service that left me walking on clouds. read more

Coming in out of the brisk air, I was shown to an intimate reception room, complete with a complementary drink (mimosa, anyone?) and the most delicate pastry. I had to wait a few minutes for my masseuse since her previous client was a little late, but didn't mind relaxing in the warm, soothing waiting room. Back in August I got a gel manicure with Isabel. I would never suggest getting any type of manicure done here, I've never had a more painful experience! She clipped the my nails so short that I was bleeding and my fingers were throbbing! She was apologetic, but that didn't exactly take the pain away. I mentioned to the owner how painful and upset I was, and she luckily didn't charge me for the service. I possibly would go back for a different service in the future, but definitely stay away for a manicure! read more

I can't stop chirping about this spa. For starters, the location has such good memories for me - formerly a real estate office, it's where my husband and I bought our first house in RI. They have done adorable things with this AVEDA concept establishment that offers nails, massage, and hair removal including laser. Getting my nails done is a truly relaxing experience. Hot neck rolls are placed upon you during the service and they are totally cool with you chilling while drying and taking in their great magazine selection. Manicures are done at the bar and they offer OPI, and the new CND vinylux. We've had extensive talks about sanitation, and I am impressed with the precautions they take to prevent the spread of fungus.
