I usually come to this Sephora and don't get much help on the floor but last night I had an amazing experience!!!! I got help from a woman named Reyna who was the most professional and experienced makeup artist I've met. I came in originally for just foundation and left with muuuuuuch more then that. She offered to practice everything on me letting me leave with a whole new look no questions asked! Her main concern was for me to leave being educated on the product and knowing how to actually use the makeup. One of my most favorite shopping experiences by far. read more

I'd done my research online and came to the store with a list of things to get, and was prepared to leave right away. One of the sales associates, Reyna Delamora (a gorgeous Betty Page lookalike) offered to help me find all the items, and then proceeded to give me some great advice too. I ended up leaving an hour later with a custom makeup lesson, some even better products (and some even less expensive) that I'd planned on purchasing, and best of all, feeling great about myself and grateful for Reyna's expertise, advice, and genuine warmth. She really elevated a basic transaction into a wonderful experience and made me feel great about myself - that I took the time to do something good for myself and that I had some good things going for me (cheekbones!) that I hadn't appreciated. Great customer service. I usually go to the Culver City location. Came here to purchase the Lab Series for Men-Oil Control face wash since it is only available at the Santa Monica location. I was expecting it to be very busy since there are 6 days til Christmas. I was very impressed by the customer service here. Julian is great. It was my first time purchasing a men skincare product but based on Julian's expertise he steered me to the right product. It wasn't so busy, so I decided to purchase additional gifts. Who doesn't love playing with makeup samples for hours without being pressured by saleswomen who work on commission? Seriously, one of my favorite things about Sephora is that the fact that they do NOT work on commission. So I feel like I can actually trust their advice, instead of constantly second-guessing them like that YSL makeup woman who tried to insist I looked "rad" in yellow eyeshadow. Um, no. Luckily the Sephora makeup-trained girls are more honest and I know they will guide me away from the yellows and toward the peaches, browns, and greens. Thanks gals! (And you can actually say "Do you have this color in a cheaper brand because I don't want to spend $47 on an eyeshadow"...and instead of looking at you all snotty, they will perkily chirp "of course! come on over here and check out Urban Decay!") Also, this particular location just opened a "Nail Bar"...which I think just means that you can get your nails done in the store (for an additional charge). But they do all sorts of designs and special-decorated nails, apparently. I don't personally need Helly Kitty patterns on my fingernails but I will admit I had a lot of fun browsing the myriad options they were offering! read more

I went there today to purchase an item which their website said was in stock at this location. After going through traffic and parking hell in Santa Monica I arrived there and was told the item was coming to the store and won't be there till Sept. I was pretty upset since the website said they had in stock and it was the 2nd Sephora location I went to that day. Well to make up for it Monica asked how much was the item. I told her $30.00. She gave me a $35.00 gift card for free so that I could purchase the item online! I instantly fell in love with this branch and will shop there again. I don't really buy cosmetics frequently. I've got my go-to favorites, and I just replenish them, occasionally trying new products when I see a glowing review. That said, I get downright giddy every time I walk in this store. I love the design. I love the alphabetization! And it is crawling with cheerful staff that will walk you over to the manufacturer you are seeking. read more

It's such a shame I typically love sephora but this location is terrible. The whole experience was just rushed and it felt like I wasn't even listened to and I didn't get anything of what I wanted and I felt like just because I was trying samples of foundations to see how they set on my face that no one really wanted to help me because I wasn't buying anything but what they don't realize is that I spend a lot of money at Sephora and I was coming back to buy whatever foundation was right for me but now I don't even want to return to this location. None of the staff were really that friendly nor helpful and they all made me feel hurried and like they just wanted to get me out of the way. Seems like they really need to retrain or workshop on service skills. Also seems like they're severely understaffed and need more people out on the floor. read more

I'm absolutely thrilled on my experience tonight. I went in to get a hydra facial and Sergio exceeded all of my expectations. He was so knowledgeable and so kind. He let me know so many things about my skin conditions (eczema/acne) and knew just which products to use. He was just so kind, I'm honestly so happy he helped me... Worst Sephora branch I've ever been to. It's always dirty, with used tissues, cotton and applicators strewn everywhere. Despite crowds coming in off the Promenade, they need to keep it clean. The displays are often lacking much of the product. If they're out, they really don't want to find it for you in the stockroom, or heaven forbid, call another store. The staff, who seem to have good job security as many have worked there for years, is generally unfriendly and unhelpful. The cashiers mainly act like they're doing you a favor to ring you up. "Next," they yell, like you're at McDonalds. You have to ask to get a bonus on their VIB program when they should offer it to you. I try to get in and out of there quickly when I know what product I want. It is not a pleasant store in which to browse, mainly because of how filthy and rundown it appears. read more

Today I went shopping for some small things. Since I already have small paper bag with me, so I said no bag when I checked out. And then when I put my things that I had already paid for into my paper bag, a guy saw it, and he kept looking at me and following me. In a few moments, he came up to me and asked me if I wanted a basket to put your "stuff." I replied that I had already paid for it. I mean you are an employee there and you have a right to be skeptical under some situations, but I truly hope you can ask directly and try to not look at me with that weird look. read more

She offered to help me find a concealer and had vast brand knowledge and really understood a wide variety and was able to help me find exactly what i was looking for. She then introduced me to a eco friendly fragrance, Nest, that i am OBSESSED with! She is such a valuable asset to that brand and I couldn't have had a more positive experience thanks to her. read more

This review IS NOT for the store itself, but for the young employee today who felt it was important to make me feel stupid. I LOOOVE this store, and one of the leading sales people there. However, today, i was "helped" by a young woman who felt it was more important to tell me that I was wrong about the Perricone product I was looking for. In fact, she told me I was WRONG! When I told her that I knew I wasn't she finally went to get a helper. The helper told me that I was correct. Do you think the first young woman apologized?? NO!!! So...I finished shopping...and she decided it was important to tell me that I could order what I wanted online at the store. I said no, I could do it at home and earn my points and pick out my free things. She said, but shipping is free. I said, "Honey, I am a VIB Rouge member. My shipping is always free." C'mon Sephora! I really do NOT want to switch to ULTA, but if your employees are going to treat regulars like this....I will leave!! read more

this particular location probably deserves fewer stars for the reasons others have mentioned (not enough employees, general absence of many products etc) but i have this weird undying love for sephora. i LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE sephora. i could spend hours in a makeup store. i don't even wear that much makeup, but there's just something about sephora. my boyfriend and i both love sephora--he looks at his manly things, i usually look at weird colored things, we meet in the middle to discuss bronzer and moisturizer. i've had nothing but friendly workers help me. the hard part is finding one that's available. i've gotten so many good deals from being a beauty insider. and if the store is out of something, i usually order it online. free shipping AND more samples. what's not to love? read more

I went here in search of a self tanning spray I heard they carried. They did not. However, there were a lot of other brands to choose from, so I figured I could get some help in finding the best one. WRONG! The sales woman seemed as though she had never even seen these products. She was reading off the names as though she was just discovering them. You would think a company would give you a few selling points for all the products. She was rubbing them all over herself, too. I didn't really feel like telling her that her hands were going to turn bright orange. The more I poked around the store, the more apparent it was that nobody knew anything about the products they were peddling. I didn't need any help beyond the tanner, but the conversations I overheard were completely unhelpful and seemed like educated guesses. Yeah, where I'm from we call those HYPOTHESIS. Not FACTS. Got the wrong shade matched for FENTY at the Beverly Center location so came in to get rematched this Saturday morning. Was helped right away and was given a shade below the one I was formally matched with. I also picked up some of their AMAZING Sephora exfoliating wipes which run $7.50 which is an amazing deal, and come in a variety of scents. I chose pineapple. As I went back to FENTY to swatch their amazing stunna paints in unveiled and uncuffed, I was approached by an associate who told me I was eligible for a facial with my purchase and they had availability. I was given a facial by Lana who was very friendly and attentive in explaining the process. I really enjoyed the facial and being able to try some of their skincare products. I will definitely be back to this location, as I truly felt welcomed by all employees on staff today. Came here to take advantage of their 20% off sale for this weekend. I was in the search for a good moisturizer since I just ran out of mine. I've been switching from moisturizers recently trying to find the perfect one that delivers good hydration as well as anti-aging benefits but for a reasonable price. I was introduced at Macy's to the Clarins brand. I've heard about it for some time, but never tried it. The sales person at Macy's was pretty pushy and offered me free samples to try the product. After using one of their night creams, I immediately fell in love with it. The texture is soft and is a cream base but feels almost gel like. The scent is also very soft and pleasant. The sales lady also told me that they use no harmful chemicals and only natural ingredients.  I find that I can also use the night cream during the day. I just use it more sparingly since.  Decided to check if they carried this at Sephora since they had this sale going on. Luckily they did! So I purchased it this weekend with my VIP 20% discount! read more

I had 3 specific things I wanted to buy. Fortunately, I had images and item numbers of the each product from Sephora's online site. I also did my research and knew this particular store had these items in their inventory. The store was crowded and upon arrival I asked the sale associate if she would direct me to the area where I could find the specific items I needed. Once I arrived to the area, I wasn't able to find what I needed. I waited and looked around to find a sales associate to help me. All sales associates were busy with customers. I finally found one who was not with a customer and I followed her for 3 minutes, but she stopped to talk with another sales associate, so I waited another few minutes. I finally was able to get her attention and I asked if she could help me find these 3 specific items. This was when I finally got help! She found the 3 items within minutes. The line was long, but moved quickly. I couldn't find my Beauty Insider card at first, so I was asked for my phone number, then email, but then I found my card, so all was well. My advice? Go to Sephora when it is not so crowded. If you know exactly what you want, print the page from the Sephora site, or save it on your phone. This made my visit very easy, once I found a sales associate. read more

I didn't expect to be treated so bad! I have come to buy gifts for myself since it was just my birthday recently. I have selected few products and at the register I realized I have left my Beauty insider card at home. No problem! - I was told - we'll find your information. But they didn't. No matter, what email addresses I provided, they couldn't find me in their system, even by my name, that sure didn't change! One of the reasons I came, was to claim my birthday gift. I said, that I had birthday on Jan 21, and a store worker told me in a very strict voice:"You are supposed to come for the gift 14 days within your Birthday date. I don't know if the system shows me that I can, I will give it to you, otherwise not". She didn't even look at me when she was saying that. While she was trying to retrieve my information in the system, a bell rang - someone got their birthday gift. She smiled to THAT person and said Happy birthday! And I was still staying in front of her and didn't get neither Happy Birthday nor a smile, or a look, - nothing, like I didn't deserve a happy birthday. You know, I only got one gift for my birthday, it would have been nice to receive at least a greeting. Instead, they didn't find even my name in Beauty insider system, I didn't get any gift, any greetings, any smiles, any "I am sorry" or any kind of a sign that Sephora values me as a customer.
