I had 3 specific things I wanted to buy. Fortunately, I had images and item numbers of the each product from Sephora's online site. I also did my research and knew this particular store had these items in their inventory. The store was crowded and upon arrival I asked the sale associate if she would direct me to the area where I could find the specific items I needed. Once I arrived to the area, I wasn't able to find what I needed. I waited and looked around to find a sales associate to help me. All sales associates were busy with customers. I finally found one who was not with a customer and I followed her for 3 minutes, but she stopped to talk with another sales associate, so I waited another few minutes. I finally was able to get her attention and I asked if she could help me find these 3 specific items. This was when I finally got help! She found the 3 items within minutes. The line was long, but moved quickly. I couldn't find my Beauty Insider card at first, so I was asked for my phone number, then email, but then I found my card, so all was well. My advice? Go to Sephora when it is not so crowded. If you know exactly what you want, print the page from the Sephora site, or save it on your phone. Got the wrong shade matched for FENTY at the Beverly Center location so came in to get rematched this Saturday morning. Was helped right away and was given a shade below the one I was formally matched with. I also picked up some of their AMAZING Sephora exfoliating wipes which run $7.50 which is an amazing deal, and come in a variety of scents. I chose pineapple. As I went back to FENTY to swatch their amazing stunna paints in unveiled and uncuffed, I was approached by an associate who told me I was eligible for a facial with my purchase and they had availability. I was given a facial by Lana who was very friendly and attentive in explaining the process. I really enjoyed the facial and being able to try some of their skincare products. I will definitely be back to this location, as I truly felt welcomed by all employees on staff today. I am by no means a high maintenance kind of woman, so when I had to go and get some foundation, even a make up lesson on how to put on make up, I was a bit nervous they would know I was a newbie. But from the time I walked it the door, there were nothing but helpful. Reyna, the woman who did my make up, made it all feel easy and she was so nice, patient, and just made me feel great after. I enjoy coming here mostly because they are fantastic at returning literally anything even if you have opened it. This is why I keep coming back. There are so many different brands of makeup and they aren't cheap so I appreciate the return policy when trying new brands. However, the lighting is terrible in there. I shop at Sephora regularly, but needed to write a review for the Santa Monica 3rd Street store. I just had a laser procedure for my dark spots and didn't realize that my skin would look so bumpy and bad afterwards. I know it is only temporary, but I was insecure about going out in public. I went and saw Bobby Nunez at this Sephora location and he is the BEST! If you ever need any consultation, definitely ask for him. (Jeffrey and Cory are also standouts.) Bobby is really knowledgeable and did a great job helping find/use products that would be best for my skin and help me feel more comfortable going out. He was funny, compassionate and talented. When I ask for product recommendations, not only do they demo it for me, I always wind up with a complete make over and samples. Sorry to say that but this location brings the whole company reputation down for LA county. Horrible customer service. I was there on a week day - waiting for 30 min ... Asking 3 people for help me at clinic section. They all said : let me get someone for you. The last person who was called to help me , looked at me & she walked a way . No one came to help. I decided to return my merchandise & I didn't want to buy anything from there anymore. At the register, I asked for the manager & to my surprise , the last lady who looked at me & walked away knowing that I was waiting for someone to help me.... "She Was the manager " so I complained to her & this was her response : I saw you , I knew u needed help but I was busy " Yes she was busy chatting with other employees. & laughing. Very disrespectful & unprofessional , She didn't try to help me even at that point. She didn't ask : how can I help you ? I was very disappointed with the attitude of cashier when I returned a product within its stated 60 days. She made a lot of fuss and called for manager who obviously was surprised but kept a face. After manager approved the returned and left then she began to make fuss that the product is used. Altogether, this was a frustrated young woman who was looking for a fight and argument. read more

went looking for more eye makeup and ended up with foundation that is horrible and a makeover that I did NOT like! I asked for certain eyeshadow colors and got what i use at home! I will say I was too embarassed to speak up, did not want to seem overbearing and it is not my style so i just paid for my makeover and left. I will be returning the foundation though! Always loved Sephora--stopped in the other night and make a mistake of opening one of the drawers to browse for a product I didn't see on the shelf. A gentleman immediately said, "Excuse me!" And rushed over to ask what I needed. He seemed rather annoyed, I apologized and said I was just looking for another size and moved on. A moment later, I was desperately looking for another product which was no where to be found. As it was closing time, everyone was busy closing up or attending other customers...so I thought I would look in the drawer ( I now know that was my biggest mistake) and took a quick peek for the product I wanted. Out of no where the same guy came up and said, "If you are looking for something you need to ask one of us for help. You're not supposed to open the drawers. " I said, "Ok..." and when I went to look up and ask him for help a moment later he was gone...so after being made feel like an idiot and an inconsiderate (excuse my language) asshole, I once again moved on because I had obviously done something I wasn't supposed to. Later on my friend asked me what happened, I told her I was not supposed to open the drawers but I had and I had upset one of the employees. I felt bad and at that point I had just wanted to leave, when my friend pointed out that the guy was watching me from across the room...I guess to make sure I didn't steal something or open a drawer??? I truly didn't want to look up to see because was so thrown off and over buying anything at that point and just wanted to leave. Honestly, I saved myself $150 this week and despite my experience tonight will always, always go back to Sephora. I've been shopping there since I was 15 and have NEVER had an employee say that to me about the drawers. I know now that I had made the initial mistake, but there are kinder and more appropriate ways to deal with customers who don't know the ins and outs of your job. Making anyone feel that way seems unnecessary and the fact that he made me feel SO bad over something so arbitrary is well, annoying but not a deal breaker for me. If I see that person there again I will honestly just avoid them and under no circumstance open a drawer. #godforbid read more

This was my favourite Sephora i went to while in California/Las Vegas. Although the first girl i came across made me feel like it was such an effort help me, all she wanted to do was go on her break... although when she did another makeup artist "selina" came over to me cause she could tell i needed some help. Can i just say AMAZING! Not only did she know what she was talking about when it came to products she had the most amazing personality! My best friend and i probably spent about 45mins-an hour with her.. whoops... but there was just so many things we wanted to try and wanted to buy, we ended up walking out with SO much stuff it was amazing! I was excited to visit this sephora because I heard that this was a big store. When I actually went inside, the store was a MESS. It was so hard to look for things and they didn't have anything in stock. Every time I finally found something I liked they didn't have it. All the testers were all over the place and not in the right spot. I almost bought the wrong color lipstick because the tester was misplaced. This store is like heaven for those who love skincare and make-up. There are SO many different brands of make-up. They have many different perfumes/colognes to try on. It was really busy in here when I came because it was a weekend, but I am assuming they are less crowded during the week. Helpful staff will ask if you need any help finding something. I did notice many items were out of stock in the cosmetics section. That was such a bummer because I found a lipstick I really wanted but they were out. I went to this store because it's open until 10pm and I needed a new mascara. Stay away people - rather go to Bloomingdales. The staff is horrible! I can understand that third street promenade is fairly touristy and that people come to the store anyway. But some effort from the staff to be friendly would be good. When I paid for the mascara, the cashier's vibe was really bad - it appears that she really does not like her job. I had to laugh as the little girl who rang my purchase, or rather opened her big deer eyes and wouldn't keep her mouth shut, didn't know the first thing about customer service. She was rude, had poor communication skills and was a bad representative over all for Sephora. You're a brat! Sephora would be wise to send you back to basic 101 customer service training. I rely on Yelp because I find the reviews super helpful and have been meaning to join - and this shopping experience helped get me here! Had my makeup done for an office party; by far the best work I've seen. Ladies in the office could not believe how perfectly the false eyelashes were applied. They immediately asked for a name and contact info and Googled it and her Instagram came up, which was good because we have a new studio at headquarters and are looking for Makeup Artists so it was all very timely. I'm also an outdoor enthusiast and surf and run and bike daily. And have always shied away from makeup because of my lifestyle and EVERY time I've had my makeup done in the past resulted in me gaping at my reflection in shock and horror. So initially I was a bit reluctant to full makeup but decided to trust the artist - overall she handled things like a pro and in my head I'm already booking her for Xmas, New Years, etc. At checkout she mentioned a survey and encouraged me to provide my feedback so I did. And sent an email saying thanks again and attached a couple of photos from the party (did I mention I looked fantastic?!) And here's where things went awry. Stopped by Sephora the next day (payday :)' to stock up on my skincare and noticed I was getting more than the usual amount of attention and a few reps laughing - and then overheard some comments and realized they were laughing at me. apparently I had become the butt of an inside joke? (scratching my head on this one but . . . ) Hey to each their own; I get it how I could be comical to folks who work in the retail/beauty industry, I was totally thrilled that I could finally leverage the benefits of makeup (not a 'spring chicken'). But to be so careless about how that's managed to the public is inconsiderate and unprofessional. So 2 stars for attracting stellar talent but the takeaway was a bummer. I went last night and there wasn't many customers I waited for over ten minutes and nobody bothered to help me out the two cashiers were just having a conversation laughing didn't bother to ask if I needed help even though they saw that I was looking around for help. I had to approach the cashier and ask her if it was ok for me to just open the drawers and look for what I needed then she finally came to assist me it took me over 20 minutes to purchase something that I didn't need to try on just grab and pay. So was at the promenade tonight and decided to run into Sephora to grab a few things which I honestly don't ever do because I've had a few bad experiences with this location before but figured I'd give it another shot and this just set in stone why I won't shop at this one again. I spent almost $90 and asked the girl at the register for a sample of Clinique eye cream an this is what I got. I don't even know if there is enough for a one time use! I did say to her "umm is there even enough for me to try it"? And she replied "yep that's sample size" super rude and almost condescending . I wasn't in there loading up on free samples. I was a paying customer asking for a sample of ONE item. This is exactly why I will continue to shop at the Sephora in Marina Del Rey. The promenade girls are rude and snobby. No one greets you and the employees think they're God's gift to earth. They snub you if you aren't caked up or carrying a designer bag. I came here the weekend that the Rihanna's Fenty foundation was released. It was late, and the store was relatively empty. None of the SA's asked me if I needed help, they just kinda ignored me and continued chatting. Finally I asked a heavy-set man with lots of makeup if he would help me. He looked really annoyed that I asked him to match me for the Fenty foundation. He didn't bother to listen to my concerns, he seemed like he just wanted to get me out the way. He quickly grabbed it, shook it, and just swiped it into my face with his bare hand WITHOUT PROPERLY SANITIZING! Being a MUA, he should know that's a big no-no. I don't know where your hands been... I don't know if you were at the register handling money or swatching products on another client's face! It's a makeup store-- use a disposable sponge or a brush! 2 stars only because they carried the product I wanted. Customer service and hygiene deserves 0 stars. read more

Not the best Sephora for help with finding makeup. I've been to this location 4x now in the hopes of finding a new brand of foundation to use. It does not matter what time of the day it is I have tried diff times of diff days and this is the only Sephora where I have never been asked if I needed help. Also I have walked around this store 3x looking for someone to help every one is busy putting makeup on people so I know It's going to be awhile. I have had to buy multiple shades of foundation and bring them home just to try my color only to keep having to bring it back. The Sephora at the Beverly center is extremely helpful and everyone is jumping at the chance to help with shades and such, they just don't have a variety of colors and brands at the Beverly center that's why I like going to the Santa Monica one but I don't think I'll be coming back here anymore. I spend a lot of money with Sephora and I just expected better customer service from them, especially when they have so many employees at this store. read more
