Let me start by saying that I try to be as transparent with my reviews as possible. I am located about 40 minutes outside of Sarasota and have a local Ulta to me so I visit that fairly often for my high-end cosmetic needs so that is what I am used to, however my daughter's 19th birthday was recently and she got an offer for a free birthday gift so we decided to take her to the Sephora, which she had never been to in Sarasota. It comes no surprise, cosmetics, and products that they sell are on the higher end and very expensive. However, even as a rewards member with the app, there were absolutely no promotions or price breaks so it was much more expensive than what we are used to with the same products at Ulta. We also considered the location which is in a very wealthy area and at a high-end mall with boutiques comprised of the higher end brands. The complaint that I actually have other than the prices was the experience of shopping. The store was packed with a bunch of loud wine o'clock women that had to push their way through a crowd to get where they are going. We had tried several times to wave down an employee to help us find a particular brush they did not have Out in the open, but rather in a drawer that they had to retrieve to purchase. When I finally got someone's attention, I was just given a bad attitude like I was bothering her and it made my daughter and I very uncomfortable. I asked her where we can locate the brush that was on display. She opened up a drawer, rolled her eyes, and then retrieve the box put it in our hands and ran off. Then we waited in a ridiculously long line and were given attitude at the register when my daughter asked about the birthday gift. Overall, it felt like we were a burden or nuisance to the staff. I do understand that they are very busy at that location however that does not justify bad behavior that is their job and it's what they signed up for when taking the position. It felt like we were rushed. I'm underappreciated for spending the hundreds of dollars on a very few amount of products. I think going forward I'll just stick to Ulta where I feel welcomed and appreciated. Plus Ulta always has great deals on the same products. read more

Went to this Sephora multiple times, and I will go again. The reason I put 4 stars is because there was a bunch of little girls in the drunk elephant section messing everything up and I didn't see any workers clean it up. They were mixing a bunch of products in the moisturizers and wouldn't clean it up and left them dirty there. I want to redeem a birthday gift and they had almost all of them in stock except for one. Ive been to sephora a million times but today June 24th was different. Looking at perfume and cologne with my husband for some reason half the perfumes are behind where the check out desk is located so when we were back there smelling a few different options we heard a girl say " oh hi" under hwe breath and then 5 employees yes 5 came over and stood there so we couldn't look at any more scents. We left, you could feel the energy shift so fast. It was rude. I'll just order online from now on. read more

Wow! The customer service at this location is PHENOMENAL!!! We were so warmly greeted and assisted by Yohance immediately upon entering. After he helped me find what I came in for we continued to walk around the store and look at things and Chris came by and helped us by answering questions and making some really great recommendations. When we were finally ready to pay Adrianna was so helpful and kind. I want to give a special shout out to this staff! I wish I every business had such an amazing, kind and helpful team. Manager: Romaisa I USED to LOVE going to Sephora's but it has put a bad taste in my mouth at the UTC mall in Sarasota Fl. aWe were having a fashion show to raise money for juvenile diabetes. I asked for a donation they said yes come back and will give you something for your raffle. I went back three times and they made me feel like they never said that which was fine but they never said no they just kept blowing me off!! Every other store at UTC donate it except them and they treated me so poorly it's a shame that's why I don't shop there anymore and nobody from our church which was giving the fashion show to raise money for a juvenile diabetes shops there either! We did raise $12,000 without their donation!!!! read more

Disgusting treatment of a disabled customer. I have WALKED into Sephora on countless occasions and have always been greeted as I walked in, and approached at least twice with offers of assistance - even around Christmas. On March 12 I entered in a wheelchair - I was not greeted even though there were only less than six other customers in the store, nor was I offered assistance at any time. I wheeled around in circles for a full five minutes, if not more, looking for a particular product and was completely ignored. I finally had to track an employee down and ask; she actually stood watching me approaching, with me making eye contact and obviously heading for her, and didn't take one step towards me or even greet me, I had to initiate the conversation. I had gone in with my visiting teenage niece fully intending to have quite the shopping spree. Instead, I picked up the one product I definitely needed for that evening and we left. If I had been able to drive myself then I would have gone to Ulta to make even that purchase. I'm fairly sure they forever lost a customer in my niece - not only was she upset on my behalf, but also extremely disappointed to miss out on the shopping spree, though she fully understood why we were leaving. I am utterly disgusted by Sephora's treatment of someone in a wheelchair. I'll be walking again in a few weeks but I will not be walking into a Sephora. Out of consideration for the countless people who will never be getting up out of their wheelchairs, I will never again shop in any Sephora. For shame! read more

Melissa is wonderful! Extremely knowledgeable about 'mature' skincare. Will show you how to apply, etc. doesn't work in commission. I've seen her interact with other customers as well and she continues to be sincere on what works with your skin and want doesn't. However, I've been when she is not there and most employees have a 'better than you' attitude talking amongst themselves. Ive turn around and walked back out. At checkout, they don't ask if you want any samples they may have but if you ask, they act like it's coming out of their pocket. I'd rather shop/buy online and at least get 3 samples without the attitude. read more

I never have written a bad review, I honestly hate complaining even when the service isn't the best. Yesterday was my first bad experience at Sephora at this location. I have always had great experiences with very helpful and friendly staff members there until yesterday. I was standing in line I noticed a staff member, I believe her name is Korina, was checking out customers via mobile checkout. I asked "Oh are you also doing mobile checkouts today?" not because I am trying to cut in line or anything. I've been in line before where they approach you and take you to a different location to do so, so all I was asking this question was so that I was aware if this was occurring today. She replied in a very rude manner that yes, but only for the people who have been waiting in line for a long time (not exact words). I just said "okay" and smiled as I kind of was shocked by the manner of her reply. She then proceeded to help several people in front of me. When it was time for me to be the next customer in line assisted, she walked around the store, basically avoiding helping me when I was there for several minutes waiting for a register. Eventually I was called up to the next register, once I was, she helped the people behind me. I don't mind waiting in line, but I shouldn't have been made to feel so bad about asking a question. read more

Wow, great service. I work nearby so I went into this Sephora 20 minutes before closing after I got off. Everyone was super nice and relaxed despite the impending closure. I got great tips in cosmetics and hair products. When I asked about a certain concealer, I was offered a shade matching by a makeup artist,, which I appreciated since there are 26 shades!. I am very knowledgeable about cosmetics and products, yet they gave me some new insights (based on the products I had already tried) that are much appreciated! One more note - I was trying out fragrances and two people offered to get me any fragrances I wanted to purchase. Checkout was fast and efficient. read more

This is such a great store at UTC. It's just like every other Sephora however there is plenty of selection of products and the workers are extremely helpful. As I was checking out the cashier informed me that I could also cash in a birthday item even though my birthday had passed over 6 weeks prior. I absolutely love Sephora. I've never had a bad experience. However, I was in Sarasota for the weekend and thought it would be fun to get my makeup done for a wedding. Terrible mistake!! Jason did my makeup and holy cow was it awful! I looked like a clown. Makeup was caked on, lipstick wasn't in between the lines. My eyeliner was as thick and uneven as can be. I expressed that I wasn't satisfied with my look, but Jason had a client that had just arrived so I just left with the mess on my face. Megan was such a lifesaver! I can't even explain how grateful I am that 1. There is a Sephora at UTC that offers services and 2. they accepted me as a walk in. My fiancé and I ended up here two hours before an engagement photo shoot because when we arrived in Florida the night before our luggage was stolen right after we landed. The makeup appointment with another salon fell through, shopping for an outfit was last minute- and our plans seemed out of reach. Sephora was literally my last resort to avoid going completely barefaced to my own engagement picture shoot. We walked in and asked a woman (who didn't seem so friendly)to have a full face makeup application. I almost cried when she said no, but offered an eyes only makeup application. Alright, I could work with that. That is when Meagan approached me and saw my situation (dress in hand and little idea of what look I wanted). She had an amazing, funny personality and made me look and feel beautiful. In fact, she gave me the works giving me a full face, lipstick, lipgloss, eyebrow fill on the fly. She said "this is the quickest beat I've ever done in my life" :))) lmao. I hope she reads this and knows she made my pictures turn out so beautifully. read more

The ladies I've worked with at this location are great. I'm not much of a makeup person, they take their time to explain the application process as well as demonstrate in a way that I can do on my own at home. And unlike the department stores they don't try to sell me a bunch of stuff I will never use. read more

A beauty lovers paradise! They have all things beauty. The only problem.... You will walk out spending WAY more than you anticipated. It is a high energy place with load music. We went in last night at about 8:15 pm. We were the only customers in the store and we were unsure which contour palette would be best. No one said anything to us when we walked in. We were in there for about 15 minutes and 5 or 6 employees were standing 5 feet from us in a circle just talking to each other. I work in retail and I know how important (and easy) it is to talk to your customers when they come in and to make them feel welcome in your store. I picked out a palette I wanted, but still no one talked to us so I opted out and didn't buy anything. I frequent the Sephora in Estero, Florida about an hour away and we've always had great customer service there. We decided to take our purchases to that store instead of this one. read more

I had made an appointment to get my makeup done for a Halloween party. They put me with an inexperienced "makeup artist". She was completely unorganized and didn't ask once to see the look I was going for. She had no idea what she was doing! I've had my makeup done at Sephora countless times for many years and this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. I literally walked out wiping my makeup off! I am beyond disappointed and frankly pissed! Waste of my time. The one that was supposed to do my makeup wanted to do a friend's makeup so they stuck me with someone who had no business doing makeup!!!! As the manager and this person were walking up I could hear the manager telling her how they didn't have anyone for me because they had 4 other clients at the same time slot. Very rude customer service. My sister and I wanted to purchase a foundation for her upcoming event she was going to and no employees were around except for two that were talking to each other. We waited atleast 10 minutes hoping they would finish up their. conversation because we didn't want to interrupt. They were still talking after we waited and I walked up to the gentleman and the woman employee who were gossiping about another customer (as I got closer I could hear the conversation). I stood there in awkward silence as they were STILL talking! Finally they both just looked at me, didn't ask if I needed help or anything so I started the conversation. I asked if someone could please color match my sister. The woman said okay and walked over with me to my sister at the MUFE station. Her attitude was very straight forward and tried atleast 4-5 different shades on my sister. The woman then said "I'm sorry I can't match sunburn.. there aren't any shades for you. You can try this or you can try that" as she pointed to 2 different shades and then proceeded to say "but I just don't know your skin tone". My sister was not burnt at all. The employee grabbed the 2 shades in the full size and tried to hand them to my sister. I thought to myself why would she buy 2 shades when you just said you don't know if it'll work. I asked if my sister could try a sample and the employee just looked disgusted that she spent the last 15 minutes with us trying to match her. She got a sample, which was way too dark.. I checked out with my other items I was purchasing and we left. I truly felt embarrassed by the way this woman was speaking to my sister. She wears makeup occasionally and I went to FL to visit her since I haven't seen her in over a year and we went to Sephora together so I could show her some of my favorite products for her event. The employee made the trip miserable and needs a class or two in customer service skills to understand how to not insult customers. Went to Sephora with my daughter to get some makeup. I couldn't believe the girl working at the cash register. I was so turned off I didn't buy anything, she would scare small children! Her face was pierced in numerous places, her tongue had several studs in it, gages in her ears that looked like horns coming out of her head. White makeup with blue black lips. Her head was shaved on one side. I thought this store was promoting beauty not horror. I will get my cosmetics elsewhere! read more

This is my favorite store at UTC! Now that my kids are a little bit older and I finally have some time for myself , I have decided to learn about applying make up. I've taken a few make up lessons with different associates in the store and they've all been wonderful. Christine, Gabby, Sharon, Dora and Melissa to name a few of these awesome women. I have always been greeted when walking in by at least one person. Sometimes I'm browsing and I have gotten many nice samples there which has led me to buy more products lol. I've had only one or two returns which were taken back very easily even (without my receipt). They also have a great rewards program which I've enrolled in and I'm happily reaping the benefits. I've learned about skincare, different hair products and make up application over the last year and it makes me feel good to take some time out for myself. I was sorry to see the other review in which a woman was put off by one of the associates appearance. We shouldn't judge a book by its cover, and everyone has the right to express themselves. It just so happens that woman has helped with my make up and did an absolutely phenomenal job! If you are a pro at make up of course you already know about this place but if you are new like I was - I would highly recommend going in there and getting a make up lesson. They will show you techniques, great products and work with your budget. In the rare event they don't have an item in stock they will order it online. Lastly- sign up for the emails.
