I went in search of my regular serum/toner, but needed a new foundation, and the good folks here are always ready and willing to help. Despite it being crowded, loud, making me feel like I'm in a club, I got individual attention and they took their time in aiding me for my perfect match of foundation as well as some helpful advice--no pressure to buy. The store is clean and well-organized, and I love how the workers there have enthusiasm and knowledge over the products. I also love the recos they give which I will keep in mind if my idea doesn't work out. There's new products coming out all the time, so be sure to keep up to date of what's new and trending in beauty care. This review is for the personal shopper service though Sephora Happenings/Beauty Bar. I booked the service online a day in advance. It is 20 minutes where you have someone who knows the whole store layout and what is on sale who helps you find whatever products you want. The cost is free if you spend at least $20 (very easy to do at Sephora). Note: whereas in the (distant) past, the Sephora shopper would help you put the makeup on your face, now if you want that, you need to book a "Full Face" or targeted area appointment, and that cost is not waived even if you buy all the product used. So the shopper will direct you to stuff, but you have to put it on your own face and (generally) know how to use everything without assistance. Given how busy and chaotic Sephora is, the personal shopper service makes sense. My shopper knew where they kept extra product if it wasn't on the display shelf. She zoomed to sale items preferentially over full price stuff and didn't try to direct me to the most expensive items. All in all, I was able to find everything I wanted in less time than I would shopping for myself, and because I bought several items, the experience was free to me. read more

I had a terrible encounter with a female employee at the store. After finding everything else I needed, I decided to browse for lip products. When I couldn't find the one I liked on the display, I opened a drawer to check. The employee yelled at me twice across the entire store to close the drawer and was extremely rude, making a spectacle out of the situation while she was helping another. I usually don't leave reviews for a chain store since they are all pretty similar. However I felt compelled to write this review after I scheduled a 30 minute mini eye makeup session online. I originally wanted to schedule a full face makeup session which requires a $50 purchase. However, all time slots were filled so I settled for a mini eye makeup session. On Saturday 2/17/19, I stopped by for my appointment at 3:30 PM. I was 10 minutes early just to be safe but oddly, I was scolded by a Sephora employee that they were not ready for me yet. Which was fine as I browsed in the store. Danielle did my makeup which I was originally hesitant because I wanted a particular Hispanic? Male to do my makeup because I was watching him do makeup on another client and it looked superb. Danielle was friendly and chatty but her makeup skills was disappointing. I told her I had an event to go to that night and wanted a soft, sexy Smokey eye. She applied the eyeshadow that looked like someone had punched me in the eye. She told me it looked more dramatic now since I didn't have any face makeup on. But the most disappointing thing was when I asked her for a winged eye, she told me my eye shape was not suitable for a winged eye. I was taken aback because yes, I understand with my Asian hooded eyes, it is difficult to do eye makeup. But I have winged my eyes on a daily basis as well as have them done at other Sephora location. In conclusion, it was disappointing not so much for the terrible eye makeup but for the racist remark. No one ever approached us to see if we needed assistance and no one ever acknowledged us when I tried to initiate an interaction. The International Mall Sephora location is pretty good but nothing special. It's average to small in size which means they don't carry all of the products of some of the larger locations such as Orlando. I like to play with new makeup so I get sad when they don't have all the products I want to try. That being said they still have a decent selection of makeup, perfumes, face and hair products. It's fun to browse and shop. I can sometimes be hard to find someone to help you if they are busy. I've never had makeover at this location so I can't comment on their skills in that area. Love Sephora!!! I used to avoid Sephora because I thought their make up prices were too high, but I was lured in one day when they were running a special on the Bare Mineral products I use. The cashier talked me into joining their rewards program since I was making a large purchase that day (there is no fee to get their reward card). I honestly don't think I returned to the store for several months until I received a gift card around my birthday for a free bath soap. I was surprised what a generous freebie they gave me on my visit. This wasn't one of those dinky little trial sized samples! Of course I loved my free gift so much that I had to return to the store to purchase another bottle. The staff is great at this store and really know the products. I was looking for a long last lip stain and waterproof mascara and was immediately pointed in the right direction. To this day I am addicted to Stila lip stain! The make up is pricey, but the products are of great quality and the return policy is excellent. There are a few Sephora stores in different malls around town, but the store at International Plaza is by far the best one. It has the largest variety of different brands, and overall a better selection than the other stores. For example: I love using the Stila eyeliners, and while this store has a complete Stila display, another store only had a Stila gift set at Christmas. If you have never been to a Sephora (crazy?!) , they carry many of the higher end makeup brands, as well as what are considered to be department store makeup brands (ie Clinique, etc.). They have a wonderful selection of skin care and hair care products - ones you probably never have seen/tried before. They also have a lot of perfumes that they will be glad to give you a sample of so you can make sure you like it before you invest in it. I love that Sephora prides itself on knowledgeable employees - I have made use of them many times. I would not go anywhere else to buy foundation. Women who buy foundation at a drugstore are doing themselves a serious disservice in order to save money - I have never had my skin 'matched' more perfectly than at a Sephora store. At Sephora the makeup artist has many different lines to choose from, instead of just one line, which benefits you, the customer. Sephora prides itself on its generous return policy, so you risk nothing by going and experimenting. The appointment I had today was a 30-minute facial with MJ. Any customer can receive this service for free with the purchase of at least $75 worth of items in store, day of purchase. MJ was not only extremely professional and kind, but I can't begin to stress how unbelievably knowledgeable this woman is. I am fairly young (23) and wanted help navigating how to care for my skin and prevent damage with products that are simple to use, natural and in my price range. MJ explained to me what the blemishes on my skin actually meant (mostly hormonal) and also how the lymphatic massage I do nightly could be the cause of certain bumps (a very exciting thing for me to learn that it is a sign all my facial massaging is working/detoxing and not clogged pores like I thought!) I told her I didn't want too long of a routine, because I'm usually very tired at the end of the day, and she chose 5 products (4 of which I'll use daily) by Kiehls and 1 mist by Caudalie. I walked into the store with 0 expectations. My history with Sephora has been amazing, but every purchase has been makeup. Since getting into skincare I have always used very generic natural products like coconut oil, tea tree oil, and rose water. I am THRILLED to now have a high quality skincare routine in place and cannot thank the Sephora team at International Plaza, especially MJ, enough. My skin also feels fresh and clean from the facial machine. The only thing I didn't care for too much is that she had to refuse my tip, but I somewhat understand from past experience working in the retail industry. I decided I would just shop at Nordstrom since they have the same products and great service. I then went to the cash wrap to return a product that wasn't the right color. I was told the return policy changed AFTER I purchased the product and they wouldn't issue a refund to my card, they would only give me a store credit that needed to be used in store. Ummm no. I had to call over 2 managers and neither did the right thing. I now have a store credit for a store I will no longer go into. Save yourself the frustration and shop elsewhere. read more

First with a foundation (by the way, it was Bare Minerals and perfect) plus a Tarte primer that I will never live without ever again. I purchased this smashbox powder from Sephora, when I opened it, I was surprised that it looked used or damaged. Since I was still finishing the powder that I had, I didn't open it right away. Sephora has a very strict 60 day policy, slightly extended due to Covid but not flexible for people who have not been in the mall since pre Covid. They are not willing to make an even exchange for this damaged product. If you shop at Sephora be aware of possible damaged/used products and their unwillingness to exchange the item. They blame it on their computer/register, that can't do a return late regardless if product is damage, the computer won't allow it. If you shop at Sephora, I suggest opening up the box and looking at the item before you leave the store. I'm out $49 + tax. I went in the store within 60 days, without my receipt and they "said" that they couldn't find it in their system with my credit card (maybe they entered a wrong number). Later I found the receipt. I called the store that I purchased it from, International Plaza, Tampa, talked to Rebecca, but it is impossible to return after their 60 day window due to their computer system. I've purchased many items from Sephora but will have a difficult time returning to any location. read more

Last mothers day (May 14,2017) I went to Sephora on International Mall, Tampa Bay FL. I bought this product because I heard that it was non-greasy like others sunscreens. First I felt it in my skin kind of greasy, and I have really dry skin so that was weird. A week after using this product my I could see pimples in my face. I have a clear skin, never had acne in my life or pimples and now I have them? Anyways, looking for an answer I saw on the bottom of the bottle the expiration date, "06/17". I don't know why Sephora is selling expired product, but you guys should be careful because can cause any reactions on your skin. I just wasted $32 in a product that I can't even use. When I got to the register, they informed me this coupon had been redeemed 2 days earlier at that store. I informed them I had JUST moved to Tampa 2 days ago and had been unpacking and that this was the first time at the Tampa Intl Mall. They proceeded to "shush" me and basically insinuate I was a liar and a thief. I didn't leave until they honored my coupon, and I filed a complaint with USPS that someone had stolen my mail.
