I got my ears pierced in Lake Seminole while visiting my mom. The earrings unlock when I push them in and relock while trying to take them out. I called the Ulta by me in Northdale, explained the situation, and was placed on hold. The lady came back on and said they could remove them or teach me but I would have to wait until Friday at 10am for their free earring removal. She made my appointment. I showed up on time. The salon tech working told the earring tech was lateand I would have to wait. She was 6 minutes late and never introduced herself or apologized for being late. She was clearly not happy with my appointment and went to get a manager. The manger also did not introduce herself, but spent 4 minutes. Going through the computer. Than she began asking questions and I explained. She asked some questions agai. She informed me there was no way to remove or teach me how to get the locking earrings out without charging $20 dollars. Planned on tipping the tech, but now they are not honoring my appointment. When I got upset the manager informed I was not talking nicely, did not swear or say bad words just "so you're not honoring the appointment." She said they would as long as I paid $20. That is not honoring the appointment. Again, no introduction, no sorry we're late or sorry you were misinformed or we can teach you and you do it. I've been a regular at this salon for years, but after my most recent experience I will never return. I booked an appointment for a haircut with Kat. The price of a haircut is $47, and this price is prominently displayed when you book an appointment. Before she started working on my hair, she asked if she could take before and after pictures for her portfolio, which I agreed to. She offered to shampoo my hair, which according to their website is expected with a haircut. After cutting my hair, she offered to blow dry and style my hair, also included with a haircut. When I go to pay, she hands me a bill for $91. $57 for a haircut and $34 for having my hair styled. She said that if they shampoo your hair it becomes a signature haircut which is $57, and having my hair dried costs another $34. I did not ask for either of these services, both of these services were offered to me by my stylist, and again, both are meant to be included with a standard haircut. Two managers in the store, the salon manager and another manager, took the stylist's side and said that if a service is provided, the stylist can add the charge to the bill, even if the service isn't requested by the customer. This isn't how you run a business, especially toward regular customers. The salon was completely empty when I arrived, and shortly before I left, a second stylist showed up and my stylist was complaining to her about how slow business has been. I assume there's a corporate policy, or at least a directive from the salon manager at this location, to try to do underhanded upselling to try to make up for slower business, but doing so is going to cost you more customers in the long run. read more

I was wanting to go a few shades lighter, but I saw 3 different stylists who ended up making it darker at first, then ashy + orange at the same time, then auburn. I was losing hope that I'd be able to have what I wanted. But then... WOW. She was able to fix it to where I actually shed a tear! She knew exactly what I was wanting and gave me my confidence back. First off, The lady that helped me was incredibly nice, but the online pickup system itself is incredibly flawed. I placed my order online with a gift card that was given to me and it showed all of the items in stock. When I arrived, it showed that my foundation was not in stock, which was not a huge issue, because I knew that I could choose a different shade that was similar that they did have. Instead of giving the customer the option to swap out a different product or shade they immediately cancel the product that is out of stock and then issue a refund to the payment source. This would not be an issue, but because of that, the funds are not available again for 1 to 2 days. It was suggested to me that I just charged the $59 to my debit card While the gift card funds were pending. The whole point of using a gift card is that you don't have to use money you didn't account for. I asked if I could just grab the shade that I wanted and cancel the pending refund. I was told no that's not how the system works. I now have to wait several days for a "refund" so that I can purchase my foundation. A phone number is provided with every order, the team members should at least attempt to call the customer to see if there is something they would like in place of the out of stock item. read more

And when we walked through the doors, several associates looked at us, but did not give us a greeting making us feel unwelcome and like we don't belong. Also security followed us throughout the entire store. If it wasn't for this particular item, only being sold in Ulta stores, I would have immediately walked out. I had trouble finding the item so thankfully, the associate named Sade helped us with no problem, and we told her the feeling that we had when we first walked in the store. She apologized and asked if she could do anything else for us, and I replied if she could check us out because we didn't feel comfortable with anyone else checking us out. Selena was my life saver. I wish there was a way to give more than 5 stars. Full disclosure: I'm in my mid thirties and I know NOTHING about makeup application. I'm the one that usually looks like a clown when I try to put on fancy makeup because I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. But today, Selena walked me through the process and tried multiple products on me to help get the look I was hoping for. Not once did she laugh or roll her eyes at my ignorance to brush vs sponge or powder vs spray. She was cost conscious and didn't pressure me to buy anything. Instead, she was so genuine and seemed to really love sharing her knowledge for brands and products. If she hadn't walked up and asked if I needed help, I would have ended up with all the wrong colors again and wouldn't have known at all about how to apply things properly for a more natural look. I went in for a simple trim and Rebekah Callahan, at Ulta on Dale Mabry chopped my hair off. She turned the chair around so that I could not see what she was doing and literally said that she was not turning the chair around to hide anything. I felt that things were not going well, turned the chair back around and made her stop cutting. She began telling me that she was doing what I asked her to do and ultimately blamed me for the poor quality job. It was so bad that I asked her to just stop talking. She had the nerve to get mad at me because she did a bad job. She presented herself as knowledgeable but had no clue what she was doing. I spoke with the manager at Ulta. She saw what was done and agreed that the women clearly did not listen and did not understand my hair type, and did not know what she was doing. The manager was helpful in trying to get me set up with another stylist. I will never go back there and I absolutely do not recommend Rebekah Callahan. I will say that the manager was very empathetic and did all that she could to rectify the problem. I went to super cuts on Dale Mabry and the stylist, Madeline, was able to correct the cut, give my hair shape and style and took as little off as possible while doing it. read more

I spent around $300 and not one single store associate asked if i needed assistance (when I clearly looked lost) one worker completely gave me the cold shoulder and the others were clearly more interested in there own conversations about taking breaks etc... Went in to purchase some shampoo. It was supposed to be on sale for half price. Got to the register, it rang up incorrectly. They wanted me to walk them to the sign and point to it, which I did. Then we walked back to the register and the checkout girl called her manager over to adjust the price. The manager asked me to show her the sign also. To which I replied, "your cashier just told you what the sign said, and so did I. Do you think we're both lying?" Her reply? Never mind, I'll check myself. Poor employee- your boss doesn't even trust you to read a sign?!? She then went to the sign and instead of honoring the price, said it was a mistake and they could not help me. I went to the Ulta salon last night for a balayage with Andrea. She took 2 hours just to apply the bleach on my hair so of course when she was done 2-3 hours later my hair is completely fried. She was a nice girl made me feel at home but she has completely ruined my healthy hair. I am devastated. Please everyone do not go to her for a balayage. Will not be returning to any Ulta location ever again. Oh and top it off instead of charging me for a partial balayage she charged me for a full head of highlights. read more

The customer rep no longer asks if you want to apply your points to purchase. After I was checked out I asked if I had points to use. The rep said it's my responsibility to ask prior to checking out which is completely new to me. I've always been asked. She was reluctant to check and expressed frustration with my question. I had 9 dollars to use and asked to return purchase in order to get 9 dollars applied to purchase as I load up on cosmetics only twice a year and this was a significant purchase. Once I returned and repurchased the amount of points went to 3 dollars because of the purchase/ return. Manager would not honor the original 9 dollars and said it was up to me to notify them that I want to use the money I've earned toward the purchase! I will be purchasing my cosmetics online direct from the manufacturer from now on. This store has lost my business read more
