Super-helpful staff at this Sephora, and a great selection of everything you would expect. I grabbed a Buxom Eyeliner and two super-pigmented Makeup For Ever eye creams. Attendants will also give you free samples of stuff if you are unsure whether to buy and need to sample a few times before making the commitment. I love Sephora. I usually order online, but when I have to actually try on stuff, I'll go here. Everytime I go in though, there's always someone giving me 'tude or is completely clueless about their ongoing promos. I don't know what it is. Either they don't have what I'm looking for, or they don't know what product I'm talking about. The selection is good though. Usually the staff at Sephora are really nice, but today that was not the case. I went in for my bday gift and to buy a lip stick that the website listed on sale for $9. After walking around aimlessly someone asked if I needed help. She look as confused as I was on where to find the product. She said it's either here or over there and pointed across the store. I told her which one I was looking for, but she had already turned and started to walk away. I mentioned it was on sale on their website and she said "I think it's just online, they were on sale here last week" I said really it doesn't say online only and she walked away asked someone else, but never came back to answer me. I ended up just buying a trial size mascara. The girl at the register never cracked a smile. She asked if I was a member and I gave her my info. She said "do you want to get your birthday gift now?" Ok so obviously that's what I want since it is MY BIRTHDAY!!! Not even a happy birthday. It looked like it killed her just to say the obligatory have a good day. I don't think I will be going back, free gift or not. The staff at Ulta are so much friendlier. read more

Store looks great. Very functional and easy to move around. Fragrances are all the way to the back which would be more ideal to have them closer to the front like other stores. Maybe they'll change this strategy someday. Store manager is pleasant, she seems very serious. Not enough staff in the store when you need to find something. Hello, I am fairly new to Sephora and so I made an online appointment for a 45 minute custom makeover at 3:30 in store #3628, Valencia CA. I watch You Tube makeup videos so I already had a wishlist of products to purchase that afternoon, in addition to any new items that I would be introduced to. The confirmation email instructed me to arrive 10 minutes prior to my scheduled time. I arrived 20 minutes early and immediately had trouble making eye contact with anyone who worked there. I was completely ignored, to my surprise. Finally, I interrupted an employee who was speaking to another employee and asked if I could wait until my appt time. I was told the makeup person wouldn't be arriving until 3:30. About 10 minutes later, I was greeted again by the same beauty advisor who asked if they could apply a mask while I was waiting. I responded that I'd had a facial a few hours prior because I wasn't notified a mask was included so I politely passed. I continued to sit and wait on a stool at a beauty station where I was instructed. This station was very cluttered, had a dirty dusting wand and other items that appeared to belong to an employee. This did not make a good impression on me. While I sat there, not once did any employee look at me or acknowledge me in any way. It made me feel like I was not an important customer at all. When the clock struck 3:40, I was done waiting and walked out. No one followed up with me to perhaps say the make up person was running late. They just did not take an interest in me. Today, I was treated like less than a human being while shopping at Sephora in Valencia, the treatment was deplorable and absolutely unacceptable. I am a Rouge member and shop at Sephora frequently. I try to avoid the Valencia store because of their poor reviews and lack of customer service. Today was a nightmare. While shopping at Sephora, I asked for help on Dior luxury skin care items and was given a basket to put the products in; which was fine bc I had more shopping to do and had other shopping bags in my hand. After I was given the basket, I was followed by several people in the store including the manager (I didn't know she was the manager initially until I asked for a manager.) I was so uncomfortable being followed that I couldn't even shop any more, I began feeling anxiety. I asked for the manager and told her about my experience and she told me I wasn't being followed. I explained that every area of the store that I went to I was being followed. I told her I worked retail when I was a teenager and I caught people stealing and prosecuted them all the time, I know when someone is following me. I am in the legal field and I know what they were doing was not right, they were racially profiling me. When I explained my sentiments to the manager, she laughed at me. I began to cry and she had an attitude with me after that. I've never had that experience and never felt so worthless in my life. It's difficult being a minority, especially given the state of our nation and the division. Sephora appears to support diversity and inclusion however, maybe that just on paper, in the media, and in their advertisement. The employees that work at the Valencia store are a poor representation of the brand. If Sephora care about their brand and how the people who represent them are treartung consumers then, they may want to hire new employees. To be laughed at humiliated was the last straw. When I left the store I was shaking and nearly passed out from anxiety. I pulled myself together, went to the rest room and nearly had a panic attack. I've never stolen anything on my life. I'm in tears as I'm writing this review. I plan to call Sephora corporate office to report this incident , i will also write a review on yelp and blast this incident on social media. I will never shop at this Sephora again; and may not sephora - this really does not sit well with me. I pray no one ever experiences what I experienced at Sephora in Valencia, CA, store #3628 (661) 253-0003. I pray that everyone from here on out is treated like a human being and nothing less than. Awful-the absolute worst experience. Don't go here. Booked an online appointment for my daughter's senior picture for 9:00am. Drove an hour to get there to find the store doesn't open until 10:00am. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sephora, enough to be a Sephora VIB, and it's quite the bummer that I do NOT feel comfortable enough to walk into my local Sephora. I have been to this Sephora a few times now and each time I come in, I remember why I hesitate to purchase from this store. I have been to several different Sephoras and each time, I am greeted by an employee, at least an acknowledgement that I have walked into the store. I'm not sure if it's because I'm not dressed to par when I walk in, but not just once, but I can recount, 3 times that I have gone to this particular store and have felt like I needed to wave my arms wide to ask for help. I've noticed the employees gravitate towards those customers who are well-dressed, but forgive me for wearing yoga pants or comfortable clothing when I shop. During one visit, the manager who was working at the time noticed that I was looking for someone to help me--she saw that 3 associates were helping ONE customer. She did acknowledge and get me the help I needed. For someone who doesn't use a lot of products, I do like a second opinion or even if a sales associate tries to get me to try something new, I am well open to it and I will give in (especially on days where I do want to treat myself to something fancy, yeah, I'll pick up this $18 lip balm with SPF just because I'm sad). I really do wish I could come here, but I do prefer going to other Sephora locations or even purchasing from the online store (free samples yeah!) where I do feel like VIB. read more

Horrible customer service!! Sephora needs to hire better employees that know what they are doing and know their products! I'm not going into detail or else this is going to be long review! I asked for help on recommendations for a smudge free eye pencil... Total fail.. end up with raccoon eyes. Also, for the past few months I've being going back to check if they finally stock for my favorite powder foundation. On my third attempt some one was nice to tell me they can order it and ship it free to my house! I went to the front registered and try to order my powder foundation and along with an Anastasia liquid lipstick in Ashton that they also didn't have in stock. The young lady forgot to order my face powder and instead of trying to order she gave me a free shipping code for me to go home and do it myself. No problem. It's been 8 days and I haven't received my liquid lipstick I called costumer service and they told me the young lady did not put my home address in correctly... Really?! I was hoping to wear that lipstick for Mother's Day. read more

On more than one occasion i have encountered rude employees, but there are a couple of very sweet girls who work here as well. It wasn't until I stopped by yesterday to look for a lipstick that has been sold out for some time now that they hit a massive nerve, While i was trying to find a sales associate i saw a couple of them just chatting it up talking about what sounded like non work related banter, so i approached them and said excuse me, Not only was i looked at with the most annoyed look by both of them, because how dare i interrupt their conversation on work time to ask for assistance! I then asked if they had the lipstick in stock in which i was answered with the biggest attitude saying good luck finding it cause they had been sold out for weeks! Didn't even bother to say "i can put you on a waiting list" or "i can call other stores for you" soo rude! How dare i a paying patron ask for assistance while they chat it up on company time!! I mean come on!! I walked out so fast absolutely livid! I walked to the sephora inside JC penny in which i was treated and greeting so sweetly by the two girls there. I was then told that i could be put on a waiting list for what i was looking for. I will definitely be putting in a complaint to the manager the next time i experience horrible service at the free standing sephora. read more

I have been in the particular Sephora 4 times and every single time I leave because of the horrible service. Sales people are more concerned with their own looks and make up than with helping the customers. No one offers to help me or even acknowledges me in this store so I've always left empty handed because to me, customer service counts for a lot. It's not like it's the middle of a Saturday or holiday shopping time either. I've come right at opening, just before and after the dinner hour and one random day in the summer. I really can buy make up anywhere. Macy's is in the mall and MAC is around the corner and there are Sephora's in every mall around. It's too bad too, because I like the selection Sephora has to offer. Perhaps they ignore me because I'm not a twenty-something or that I look like I don't wear a lot of makeup? Well, it's their loss because I do wear makeup, I purchase for family and gifts and I would like to be able to shop at my local Sephora but I choose to take my business where I will feel like it's appreciated. read more

The store has been nicely made but I think they need to develop their staff to be more approachable for its customers if they want to get some sales and repeat customers. My experience with them is so-so. Some staff are willing to help you but there are quite few that I experience that they want to brush you off and give you to another staff to help them. Those were really help me gave me a good advice on what will be my color selections will be. There were patient enough in answering my questions. But over all of their competitor is beating them in terms of excellent customer service. It looks like the store is more of a cut and dried approach when dealing with your customers. If their selections were not as great, I would have not come back to the store. read more

I have had many bad customer service moments here but I love the products so much, that I always find myself coming back, but after my last encounter I am done with this store!!! I went in looking for a good skin care line to use on my face, I told the girl that I didn't know anything about the products or what to get. I just let her know I was looking for something that would help with dry skin. So the girl looks at me and says well I don't know what is good for that but here's the products you can read through them and take your pick and walks off! I have never shopped at the Valencia sephora , why would I , when Northdrige and Burbank are more convenient. The one time I go , I go for a specific product at this location. I called the Valencia sephora two hours before going to the store to check if they had the Kat von d bow n arrow lipstick . The employee on the phone said they had one left, therefore I requested to put it on hold. I was pretty excited to have finally found that lipstick having called all other possible locations and it being out of stock everywhere. When arriving to the store I browsed around and realized the store was a ghost town (not the usual vibe I get when visiting sephora). I then approached the counter( there was only one employee on the register ) and told her that I had an item on hold. There were two lipsticks on hold but neither one was under my name , she took a call , and then proceed to check again. At the end all she had to say was sorry , she didn't even ask if I wanted to be alerted when the next shipment arrives( this being said because all the other stores did). It was a waste of time driving up to that location, one lesson I learned from this is to always get employees names because if I would have remembered them I would have included them in this review. $700-$800 point average customer here! I am very dissatisfied. Being a manager myself, I manage 9 employees at my local Pilates studio and my employees would never get away with treating customers like this. Ive given this location several chances. But we as customers are just a dime a dozen here! The employees that work here are snobs! They act like they are better than the general population and they get away with it because they know that customers have to return for their loved skin care and makeup items. I don't care if you wear Chanel glasses, at least say hello and smile! Just because you are a makeup artist doesn't mean that you are "better than". Wake up call ladies, this is not Beverly Hills!. You are NOT a celebrity, so stop acting like it. Show some humility! The only reason I gave this review two stars is because of the selection and the fact that they are usually stocked in what I need! Any time they are "inconvenienced" in any way, ie- helping someone, your chip malfunctions, you have a question etc, they show their bad attitudes in their body language and facial expressions. Unless of course you are spending a crap load of money on skin care and they are reaching their commission? Not sure if they still make commission? I was going to go down the street to get cash because my debit card isn't working (my chip) and I didn't even want to waste my time to come back. It is SO hard to get some fucking service at this store!! My 14-year-old wanted some recommendations for age appropriate foundations with good coverage, and it took easily 15 minutes to get someone to help us even though the store has TONS of employees. Everyone just ignores you completely! When we finally got a lady to help us, she recommended a foundation that has the least amount of coverage I have ever seen, which my daughter clearly can't use because of her acne. It was basically tinted water, and cost over $40! Additionally, we wanted to buy a cleanser that contained moisturizing properties that don't strip your natural oils. Having previously worked in skincare for several years, I know what ingredients are beneficial to the skin and what aren't, but I was looking for another opinion too. The teenager who was assigned to the skincare section pointed out some products that say "moisturizing" on the label. However, when I checked the ingredients, all of them contained alcohol, parabens, and other things that don't just dry out your skin, but can also inflame it. How is this beneficial for a girl with acne?! I think this store needs to hire their employees based on their actual knowledge of what will benefit customers, not based on their "passion for makeup". read more

Finally the girl in front of me was done helping the other customer and as my purchase was almost complete I see the one of the girls gathering in the front help out the customer behind me!!!??? I was given a full face makeover by Tamika and she was so amazing! So knowledgable, spent lots of time with me, answered all of my questions, and made sure to help me pick out everything I needed. I am a total newbie to using better-than-drugstore makeup so this was quite the task!!! She was very patient with me even when I had trouble not fluttering my eyes when putting on eye makeup. She never made me feel like I was asking too much and she make sure someone was helping me at all times even when she had certain things she needed to attend to (she was also supervising the floor and taking lots of extra time to help me and make sure I was informed). She matched my perfect makeup color for foundation in half a second! I am so thankful for her expert help. It made makeup so fun not intimidating. So much better than me trying on a bunch of different shades. She definitely went over and above and her makeup artist skills are so beautiful and she made it so practical to apply for me which is what I was looking for. She also really respected my tight budget and wanted to do whatever she could to make sure I walked out happy and confident. And I was! I will definitely be back and recommend her to all of my friends! I love that I know how to do my makeup and all my shades got perfectly matched to my face and brows so it looks so polished and pretty now and it is all thanks to Tamika! read more

Worst experience ever at this location, I've been a Rouge for almost 8 years, I always shop at Sephora. Today I had a make over appointment at 4:00 I was there at 3:58 checking in and they told me that I do not have an appointment and I was already in a rush for my event and I had no time to make another appointment somewhere else, I told them that I was scheduled for 4 o'clock. And then Alex came to do my makeup with a very serious face!! Not talking for the half hour doing my makeup, it was such an awkward moments. Even when she finished my makeup she didn't even tell me anything that she finished or if I like it, she just started picking up her stuff to leave. And my makeup was awful I hated it as soon as I made it to the car I wiped it off, I wish I went somewhere else to get it done. Definitely not going back to that location anymore!! Sephora is a great store. This particular Sephora has a horrible staff who lack product knowledge and are in desperate need of customer service training. Employees were huddled together trying product on each other and gabbing about their weekend escapades while a store full of customers wandered aimlessly. Honestly if I could give this place zero stars I would. All the workers are so incredibly rude and need to be fired, or at least hire some workers that actually know what their doing other than stand there and act like little petty teenagers that hate their life. I've had dozens of experiences coming to this Sephora where workers will be off their game. Let me explain this experience I had coming here yesterday. I walk into Sephora, so many workers not even doing anything, just talking to each other by the door, and I walk up to them and ask for help because I had a list of things I wanted to buy. I walk up to one, and say "excuse me, can i get some help finding something?" The woman gives me a dirty look and says "yeah, hold on". Thinking she was handling another customer, I politely wait for her to answer my question and 20 minutes pass, I'm wondering where the hell she is, and when I find her she isn't even helping a customer. She's talking to all the other working ladies and honestly it was rude. Customer service like that is so disappointing. I don't think Sephora knows that the way workers treat us is a huge affect and resemblance of the whole establishment. I was planning to buy hundreds off dollars worth of cosmetics, and Sephora could have had that. Seeing the way the workers acted, I walked out of the store with my group of friends and we will not be coming back. It's always the same damn routine with these ladies. They say they want to help and to ask them for help, yet when we do, they act like they don't want to answer the question and give nasty looks. So glad I didn't spend my money on this awful establishment. Just because I don't know their names and want to help anyone in the near future, one lady currently working here is tall and has blonde hair with a few black streaks. Oh and just to add in the BEST part, when walking out of the store and walking past the ladies standing by the door, I heard the blonde one that I described, she said to a short worker with curly brunette hair and glasses, "Fu*kin leave then, fu*kin b*tches" and started laughing. I always go to Sephora to buy my make up because of the selection and knowledgeable staff. I stop by this store because I am often in the area. However the last couple of times I have requested help from the same person and her demeanor was so condescending and bothered that she had to help me I actually don't want to shop here again. EVER. And reading the other comments, I see I'm not alone. Sephora is the type of store that is all about how their people relate to the customer. If I feel I can't approach an employee to ask questions to BUY something from their store there is seriously something wrong with the culture of the workers the store manager has nurtured or failed to stop. The sad thing is I believe it was the store manager who was helping me early today. She's stunningly beautiful and represents Sephora externally but certainly not in a personal way. I have been an avid shopper of Sephora. Usually I shop at the one inside JCPenney but when they don't have what I need I go to the one outside the mall. Last Thursday I called and asked if they still did the Express Makeover, which is where they makeup for one feature eyes, lips, etc... I was told yes, they are still done, free, walk ins only and assured that since it was Friday they would have coverage. Friday I left work early and when I got there I was told that my eye makeup could not be done because they had an appointment coming in and the other makeup artist was going to lunch, and that they couldn't get to me until 3 hours later at 6:00 pm. Yeah, no thanks. I went to the Sephora inside JCPenney and told them what happened and I was told that yes they could do my express eye makeup. But, the rules changed for all Sephora stores and now it was more of a tutorial and they could do one eye and show me how to do it step by step but I would have to do the other. I think that is a great service but unfortunately if I wanted to do my makeup myself I wouldn't have bothered and wasted a half hour. I also would have appreciated had someone told me this the day before when I had called. Also, there are still signs in the stores about the Express makeover, kind of misleading. It's going to take me desperately needing something to come back. read more
