From the outside I was excited to try an small Italian place in historic Frankfort. The tables were nicely set, full bar, but lacking in people. I thought maybe from the construction or mid afternoon Monday but now I believe it may be the food. I had great service but the food had much to be desired. I ordered the chicken salad and truffle fries. My fries came out still ice cold in the center. Remade they were warm, not fresh, and no truffle flavor at all. The sandwich while full was lackluster in taste, with thick mayo. Yes, a very good restaurant in beautiful Frankfort, KY, in the downtown area. Had business dinner here tonight, and was extremely pleased and impressed with the overall experience, food and service. Kudos to Aidan and Carlos! We shared as appetizer bruschetta (at only $14), which came with a delicious Gorgonzola cream, and shrimp cocktail (good price for the quality , $16). I had the Serafini sirloin, which was served w/ Yukon Mashers & Broccolni and house made Steak Sauce (at $35, was appropriately priced but was a bit cold when it came out). And I asked for polenta, which came not exactly as I expected. And finished with a delicious creme brûlé, an absolute winner (only $12). I did not eat my meal of beef tips with pasta. After one HOUR, of waiting for our food we are served fried chicken with literally 2 Tbs. Of sauce and a handful of mushrooms. My boyfriend is nice, though surprised at what his food looked like, he ate it. We were shocked at what I was served. 6 steak tips and pasta with no flavor. I had to put salt on the pasta. I was trying to like it, I ate two steak tips. The 6th steak tip was burned, all were over cooked and none of it had flavor. You all!? I have pics of this burnt nugget of meat, ugh! I hate complaining but the $$$$ says it supposed to have decent food, right?? I was honest with my server, she was so sweet. I told her I didn't want anything else. She talked to the manager, he didn't even come over to the table. I paid for a meal that I didn't eat. HOWEVER, on my way out I was advised to contact the owner, John Senter, by one if the employees. Eh just ok. We had a big party of about 16. Most of the wines we wanted were not in stock, even though they were on the menu. The food was just not very good. The lasagna had no sauce. It was just meat, cheese and pasta. I had the house specialty pasta and it was just very bland. No one through there was anything exceptional about the food. Whatever chef was working on Thurs. 5/2/24 deserves a raise! We had the most amazing meal, literally best bruschetta and calamari we've ever had. Drinks were tasty, crab cakes dinner and goat cheese salad were also amazing, so we also ordered the charcuterie plate and cannoli cake for dessert while dining outside (perfect weather) listening to live music across the street, just all 5/5 everything! Lots of potential but the service levels came up short. Our waitress was inattentive, would disappear for 20minutes at a time, water glasses empty, drink orders took 20+ minutes. On the food side, lobster bisque was a big disappointment. Very thin and watery with no lobster meat, only the errant piece of lobster shell. The chopped salad was good due to the excellent house made blue cheese dressing. Cocktails were good but took too long to make and serve. My friend had the pork chop which didn't impress. Amazing place, we got into town late and we're just looking for a place to get a bite to eat and drove by and seen that they were open. It was about 730 at night on a Wednesday, and we walked right in and they graciously cleaned us a table and we sat down. They explained there was a large party before us and it would be a bit before we would get our food and we said that was fine and they promptly brought us drinks and some complementary bread while we were waiting. After a second round of drinks our food showed up and it's some of the best pasta we've had in a very long time. The staff was so gracious and amazing that we would love to go there again, they even presented us with a complementary dessert because we had to wait for our food. An amazing experience, always a classic and always a great experience to remember, not cheap but worth the investment

Disappointing experience tonight at Serafini. I had chicken parm and my wife the chicken Marsala. The parm was ok, but my wife's Marsala was small in quantity and tasteless. Our server Maya did not want to be there. Long waits while she disappeared. No bread offered or given although other diners got theirs from your servers. A different bottle of wine was served without providing notice of the switch. No silverware on the table...just substandard service overall. Maya did apologize for the omissions when we brought them to her attention but did so in a clipped, robotic voice. Can't say if this was an aberration or the norm, we were there for the first time on a special date night that was ruined. Won't be returning again. read more

Arrived for an early dinner around 5pm. Only two tables were occupied. The host tried to sit us at a two top in a nearly emptily restaurant. When I requested we be seated at an adult table, he got irritated, seated us and disappeared. A very nice waitress brought us a wine and cocktail menu. Wines were marked up 35O% by the bottle so we ordered ice tea and some calamari while we viewed the menu. There was a good selection of starters and entrees and priced comparative to most most chain stores like longhorn and Olive Garden. Calamari arrived deep fried beyond recognition. We ordered our entrees and later when the arrived the waitress asked if we wanted to keep the calamari. I said it wasn't edible. She took it away. Entries were above average. Applebees quality No adjustment for the uneaten squid. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone I am fond of. Don't waste your $100. read more

Came here for a quick lunch when I got to Frankfort early for an appointment. Honestly I ended up here because nothing else was open. I ordered the Salmon Croquettes - $15. I am sorely disappointed. I could make them for $5 for my whole family and they would have been better. The flavor was fine but they were mush in the center and almost NO salmon! I asked the waitress if the chef could throw them back in the pan for me, "they don't have to be pretty, I'd just like the centers a bit more firm." They put the whole plate in the microwave and brought it back out. My tarter sauce was hot. I mean, I know it's a cardinal sin to ask a chef to do that - but it's lunch and there was only 1 other table with guests. Ugh. And for $15 ... make it right read more

This my fourth trip to Frankfort as well as stopping into Serafini's while visiting. I give it three stars because the meals are always pretty solid and good size portions. Be prepared to wait for drinks, food and staffs attention though. (3 out of my 4 visits I waited for long periods of time) I was here back in August of 2022 and we were seated in a booth as a group of three. We had servers walk by us not once or twice, but 11 times!!!! Not once did they say anything or glance our way. We were sitting with no drinks and no menus and no one thought to approach or welcome us. After 20 minutes we left. I always give a place to second chance ( in this case a fourth) and stopped in while visiting here in March of 2023. The bar area was full and the dining room was about 1/2 full. I got a drink in the bar area and awaited an open seat. Once I sat myself at the bar, I waited about 10-15 minutes til I was a approached by a young male bartender. (I had to borrow a menu from a fellow patron since I wasn't given one) I ordered a drink and waited for it for over ten minutes and then had to remind him of it. I ordered a cheese bread platter and a entrée. The app came out fairly quickly and wasn't what I thought it would be. It was a scooped sauce of cheese with some parmesan pieces scattered on it. Taste was over all ,decent. I then sat at the bar awaiting my meal and a second drink. I sat with an empty glass in front of me for almost 15 minutes with no attention to it. Again having to remind him after first request After nearly 50 minutes I finally asked where my entrée was and if it was ordered or coming out tonight? He went back into the kitchen and came out with a hot plate as I ordered. The Lasagna was good sized and piping hot and very tasty. But sitting for that long is a bit ridiculous. I heard them say they "were slammed with people tonight" Yet, the restaurant was about 1/2 full with more than six staff I got there around 600pm and didn't leave until 810pm. The portion of risotto is pretty small and the amount of grease on the plate was high. I was starving hence why I finished the food and later had something else at home. We also got the ribeye which was over salted and we love salt so for us it was close to inedible. Overall the ambiance as i mentioned is nice. Service is good. An absolutely lovely dinner. The atmosphere is slightly dark and romantic which I found charming and the waitress was knowledgeable on the wine selection available, which I appreciated. The wedge salad was my fave of the night and the salmon entree was well cooked and full of flavor. I've been to Serafinis several times and each time I am more disappointed than the last. The food is mediocre at best and over priced. They are supposed to be an upscale Italian Restaurant but the Italian dishes are way over cooked and over spiced. In addition most of the staff are unfriendly, especially the bar, unless your one of the regulars. When you walk in people look you over as if your not worthy of being in their "club". We have had good servers but that is about all that is ok with this restaurant. read more
