Warning: DO NOT go here. Go to Cecily's Skincare up the street! Her niece opened up her own skincare store and apparently she was the TRUE heart of Seraphim until she left. Continue reading if you need more reasons to avoid this place. Disclaimer: I'm not one to go this hard on a review, however I'm so disappointed in my experience at Seraphim. I was recommended by someone I know to visit Seraphim and let's just say it was not at all what I expected. The consultation: Lil came off very confident, she seemed to really know her stuff, and since Seraphim was a recommendation, I trusted her. However, during the consultation there were a few things that rubbed me the wrong way. I should've paid more attention to them! Issue # 1: She corrected my English multiple times when I didn't use "proper" grammar. I was a teacher, I also have a master's degree from Johns Hopkins, I am educated in the English language. Who speaks proper English 100% of the time though? This was really weird to me and she justified it by saying, she's an English snob. I'm an African-American woman, so I definitely wondered if she would do the same to a Caucasian person. Nonetheless, it was unsettling. Issue # 2: Then, during the consultation, she told me that Retin-A (tretinoin) was exactly what I needed and she "GUARANTEED" her product would clear up my face. She went as far as offering a refund if it did not work. Well ok, she had me! For her to be THAT confident it would work, I tried it out.   Product didn't work as promised: Long story short, Retin-A (tretinoin) didn't fix the problem. While it definitely started to help and seemed promising, my skin reverted back while under her regime. I still believe it's a good product, and definitely will not knock her products because her indulgence cream (the moisturizer used after applying tretinoin) is in fact amazing. However, I don't think the tretinoin is what I needed and it did not yield the expected results. Follow Up Phone Call: When I called her about it, she immediately said I was not using enough of the product and that I needed to ramp it up. I could barely share what was happening because she kept interjecting and saying that I was the problem. I think this is her way of getting you to use it up so that you need to purchase more. Ultimately, we scheduled an in-person visit for her to "really see" what was going on.  Follow Up In-Person Visit: When I arrived, she belittled my skin issue by saying my face looks fine, it's better, and it's cleared. I know I do not have MAJOR skin issues, however I've also never had trouble with acne/bumps in my past. So these recurring bumps on my cheeks are an issue for me and shouldn't be minimized. She told me I need to do the Retin-A regime again. I said okay.  The Kicker: When I noticed she was ringing me up to purchase another tube of her $75 Retin-A (tretinoin), I asked her if she's expecting me to pay. She said absolutely. I told her that I didn't feel I should pay again when she "GUARANTEED" the product would work and even offered a refund. Rather than taking the refund, I was open to trying it again, however I was not paying for it. She literally responded with, "I feel bamboozled." She made this whole ordeal and acted so appalled that I wasn't expecting to pay. She even went as far as asking me, "Can you not afford it or something?" It was SO condescending/belittling and made me question if she was being racist, ageist, or even both. It was the MOST ridiculous experience ever. She didn't give me the tube and instead she gave me a card with her dermatologist's number. She said this is a matter of opinion. She thought my skin looked fine, I didn't, "so let's let the dermatologist decide" is what she said. When I told the person who recommended me, she reached out to Lil and literally had to talk to her about how she treats customers. Lil eventually told her she'll give me the tube for free but I would have to pick it up from someone else because me and her "don't need to deal with each other." It was so childish. My rec picked it up for me and we eventually researched her niece's spa. Cecily Skincare: Cecily was truly God sent. When I told her what happened, she wasn't surprised AT ALL. She definitely did not recommend tretinoin for my skin. She actually didn't feel comfortable selling me her products because she thinks my skin issues are better suited for a dermatologist. THIS IS HOW YOU DO HONEST BUSINESS. She even went further to offer me a complimentary facial for my troubles (yes, with champagne) and it was absolutely AMAZING. Save yourself. See Cecily. In conclusion: If you want to deal with someone who swears they know it all and truly is looking out for her pockets, then go to Seraphim. If you want to deal with honest and respectful customer service, I say stay away. I was prepared to be a regular customer, even just for maintenance. However Lil does not know how to talk to people. To say that my experience at Seraphim Skin Care was life-changing would be an understatement. I have never felt so confident in my own skin. Upon arriving, I was offered a glass of champagne (um, yes please). True to Buckhead businesses, the interior was classy, open, and beautifully designed. When it was time for my appointment, I was lead to the cutest service room with the comfiest bed/service table I've ever had the pleasure of sitting on. The facial itself was relaxing and effective. Lil walked me through what she was doing throughout the process. She conversed with me when appropriate, but allowed me quiet and relaxation based on my level of interaction. She is highly intuitive and a wonderful aesthetician. For all of my adult life, I have struggled with hormonal acne (all while having extremely sensitive skin). I have seen numerous dermatologists, all of which have prescribed me creams and washes and pills without fully going into the techniques of how they should be used. Lil (the owner) completely changed my perception of skin care. While Seraphim does offer its own line of high-quality skin care products, Lil is informative rather than pushy. She took a sincere interest in the line of products I use (pills, creams, and washes). She researched the prescription items I was using to fully understand the chemical make-up of each, outlining what each was supposed to do and how it should be applied. Her investigation of what I was taking was more thorough than any explanation I've received from a dermatologist. Rather than pushing products on me, she helped me come up with a routine I can use with my current products. She didn't ask me to buy anything additional. This place is nice. It's very girly but pretty inside and the people are very nice. It was my first visit so they made me watch a video of the owner on "Atlanta & Company" explaining the benefits of their peel and bleach system (which involves lots of Retin-A) and I don't disagree that it's a good system but I freakin' hate "Atlanta & Company" so this was near torture for me. My facial was very good. It involved a light peel, which didn't hurt, and then the usual steam, mask, cleansing, toning, moisturizing, mini-massage, etc. It was all very good. My aesthetician did talk about the Retin-A system as we were going along and I know that they do want to sell this system but there really was not a strong sales push. I kinda think if I came back and got another facial (they have a great discount right now), I might get more of a sales push but it was fine this time. For the record, I can't handle the red and peeling that Retin-A causes so even though it's the only thing approved to fight skin aging (or whatever) I don't have any interest in doing it and will cling to milder methods while I still can. But, that's just me. Everyone was friendly and they all do have beautiful skin so I would recommend this place and I probably would return. I met an older woman with THE most beautiful skin I've ever seen. When I asked her what her secret was, she said, "Lil-Here's her card". Two weeks later, i finally did and was amazed at the results. I have relatively oily skin with some acne and large appearing pores. All I've wanted was a nice, healthy complexion, free of acne and some way to prevent wrinkles. (I'm 35 and have a few.) The facial itself was so relaxing. Lil (owner) did a great head, neck, hand and arm massage. She also removed some "bumps" from my face and cleaned out my pores. Parts of this process were "uncomfortable", but FAR from unbearable. I knew what needed to be done, so I had no reason to complain. Lil explained everything she did as she was doing it, which was so helpful. What she's done, is created a line of products using every Dermatologist favorite ingredient for our skin.... Vitamin A (a.k.a: Retin A) If you are not familiar with Retin A, it has a tendency to burn/sting a bit and then cause a lot of drying/peeling of your skin. Lot's of people say that they "can't use it" due to their sensitivity. I have the worst sensitive skin of all my friends and it has done WONDERS on my complexion. There is absolutely NO high pressured "sales" in this spa. Lil offered a few recommendations, but they are worth the money and are a long term investment. I HIGHLY recommend Seraphim for everyone!!! Even though majority of the other reviews are bad, I decided to give this med spa a try. I have been dealing with acne for years & was in need of help. The last med spa I went to regularly kept recommending extensive chemical peels that were painful and required me taking a few days off work while my skin recovered. My facial was very nice. It came with a massage that was also lovely. I purchased the Peel & Bleach Creme afterwards & it has been the most helpful skincare product I have EVER purchased. My friend Aimee and I went to get a facial from Lil and I can't for the life of me remember the ladies name that did my facial (Sorry Lady!) but our experience was amazing! Lil looked like a movie star- through our conversation she mentioned her age and I thought she looked easily 15 years younger than that. After seeing how great her skin looked I was intrigued for sure. The first thing you notice is how clean the place is. You can tell they take great pride in their establishment, and as a medical professional I was impressed at the cleanliness. The decor is also very classy and beautiful. Then we were offered champagne right away. We got a little carried away and I'm pretty sure we polished off the bottle lol I should mention my friend is in a wheelchair and they were very accommodating towards handicappable people! They made sure there was plenty of space for us and that Aimee was in the room next to mine so I could help her if she needed anything. Rarely do you get a facial where you can drink and gab with your girlfriend while getting pampered without paying extra fees to be in adjoining rooms. Then they bring you into a room and ask you to put on a robe type thing and get under the covers on the table in the room. The bed/table was SUPER comfy. I did not want to leave that thing. I thought it strange we got unclothed at first but then to my pleasant surprise I found out it was because they offer mini massages in certain areas while in between tasks for the facial. My lady walked me through each step and answered all the questions I had about my skin. Afterwards my face felt so good- I felt like a movie star. Ive had plenty of facials but none ever made my skin this clean and even before. I ended up buying a large tube of lemon scented scrub for only 25$ which was nice. They had several items under 20$ for sale and you can tell they were professional products. I wanted to get the full treatment system but it was 100-200$ and although it would be totally worth it, it is the holidays so I need to be frugal to make sure I can buy gifts for others. Try the peel and bleach! It changed my skin within days! My experience at seraphim was actually much different than some of the other reviewers. I was very pleased at the personal attention and time that Cecily and Lil spent helping me to understand the right regimen for my skin. TRY the peel and bleach cream (the bleach does NOT lighten your skin tone like Michael Jackson, it evens the tone of sun spots on your face to be the same color at the rest of your skin). And makes it smooth as a babies ass! Sure you'll be red for a couple weeks but once it subsides you'll look years younger! And people will notice, I've had people approach me about what I'm doing to make such a huge difference in my skin... thats when I was hooked. I'm 44 and was struggling with rosacea, adult acne and sun damage on my chest and arms. I had considered CO2 Laser but very expensive, $3000 for just my chest. I was introduced to the concept of Peel & Bleach Cream from one of the girls in the doctors office. The same day I went to Seraphim Skin Care and met Lil, Cecily and Kathy. Let me say they have extensive skin knowledge and their complexions are "off the charts". They educated me on the benefits of Retin A, which my dermatologist did not explain for the rosacea. I started on the Peel and Bleach Cream and that was about 4 weeks ago. I am amazed at the results!! The heavy sun damage and creping on my chest has almost disappeared. The large brown spots on my arms are soooo much improved and I know with a few more weeks of Peel and Bleach they will be gone. The rosacea on my face and acne is under control and my makeup goes on like a dream. I did buy their makeup and love it. It also does a fabulous job of hiding the redness that results during the initial process of using Retin A. In order to get these results you must be willing to go through a some peeling and redness. It is well worth it! Just think about the damage and wrinkles that are peeling off to reveal the new skin underneath. If you have any discomfort just call the ladies at Seraphim. I did and they guide you through what to do during the worst of it. Really a piece of cake. I went back this week for a TCA peel. I wanted to concentrate on my thighs but Lil also put the product on my chest & arms. I can't wait to report back on the results. When I arrived at Seraphim, I was greeted with smiles at the door. Very pleasant start to what I hoped would be a relaxing experience. I was set up for a facial plus glycolic peel. I was intent on having my skin as clear as possible for an upcoming trip for NYE. The facial began as usual with cleansing, then a light peel, then mask/steaming, etc. Very minor issue is the low strength Glycolic peel they have available (I typically use 30% and they offer 10%). However, the esthetician explained the milder the better for my skin type to prevent scarring (I am African American and already have some hyperpigmentation). I was a bit surprised when the esthetician neglected to do extractions. I am no skin care professional but that is something I have grown accustomed to from getting facials previously. However, the esthetician explained to me that extractions are also a trigger for hyperpigmetation and it would not be in my best interest to get them. At that point, I trusted her opinion and accepted my breakouts may not be completely cleared up for my trip since we wouldn't be doing the extractions. I was a bit disappointed though and I guess the disappointment showed on my face because then.... The esthetician left the room and the owner came in and stated "WE DON'T SCAR SKIN HERE". Her tone was derogatory but I let it go. I didn't know if maybe the esthetician gave her the impression that I was unhappy about the service and if that was the source of her frustration. Nonetheless, she explained to me in detail other products they offer to help me get my skin clear, etc. I listened as she explained, still with a derogatory tone. At this point, I attempted to appease her by calmly explaining that I was hoping to clear some of my blemishes before a trip and she sat down to attempt an extraction of my most obvious blemish on my forehead. As she sat behind me, finishing up my facial, the owner began what I perceived to be a highly inappropriate dialogue with me regarding my race. I have never called anyone racist because its such an ugly accusation but this dear lady made it very hard for me to refrain from associating her with the term. Her statements ranged from "years ago African-Americans weren't getting facials, facials were for people with the means to do so" to "I don't know where you are from, Jamaica, Africa, but your black skin is what helped your culture survive". Those statements coupled with her derogatory tone made me so uncomfortable that I simply asked her mid sentence "are we done here". She replied with a "you know what, yes we are done here, good luck!". All I could do is smile and shake my head in disbelief. I walked out with my head held high and a smile on my face to pay for the service and be on my way. While doing so, the owner continued to berate me in front of her customers and staff threatening me with a lawsuit if I chose to review her establishment on "Yelp" (thanks for the idea!). Trying to keep my peace, I replied that I was more than happy with the information she provided and that even though I didn't receive the extractions I hoped for, I appreciated the information on how to more safely improve my skin (and that was the truth). I simply thought her intimidating nature towards me was unwarranted and likely driven by racism or some mental disorder. And when I came here to write this review, it's clear through the owners responses to criticism, that it is likely the latter. Do with this info what you please! For the record, I would only recommend this place if it was under a new owner. read more

I had my first facial here. When I left, my thought was, "why do women spend good money for these things?" I came hoping to see visible improvement, but I don't feel like I received that. No extractions or detailed examination was made of my skin and I was there for a good hour. I don't know if it was the products that were used, but when I was supposed to feel a tingle, I didn't sense anything was really working. I left with clean mositurized skin, like I could do at home; nothing spactacular. The facial was good with a lot of pauses in between but still relaxing overall. I waited a little before posting to see how my face was going to react to the facial and it has been awesome. My dark spots were cleared along with many of my blemishes! It worked very well. The only thing I will say is that the person who massage us was a bit aggressive with us with her products. I assume she was the owner and she was very upfront which I didn't mind but some of the girls I was with didn't like how she tried to push her products on us and aggressive about our skincare routines and what we needed.
