Beautiful vineyard. It's one of the few wineries that doesn't allow outside food but that's because they have a menu with plenty to offer. There's several drinks to pick from too. There are wines, cocktails, beer, and if you don't want alcohol they have coffee, tea, & lemonade. The service was excellent. I wasn't rushed or pushed to try anything I wasn't sure about. What a charming venue this place is, located in South Johnson County. There is seating outside and inside, with reserved seating for larger groups of 8. On this evening there was live music and she was very good and added to the great vibe. I ordered a red wine flight and got to taste all the red wines available (I now know my favorite). We also ordered the hummus platter which was delicious and highly recommended. There is no table service, so be sure to go to the register to order. There is a very large resident dog that wanders around, however, dogs are not allowed so leave yours at home. read more

Went for a girls' day out with a pretty large group. The staff seemed underprepared for a group our size, and seating was split up. Some of us were placed in a room with very low, hard furniture that was uncomfortable, while others sat at small tabletop tables.The wine flights were good but you can't pick your pours just say if u want red , sweet & there were a few other options and they have a selected pours preselected for the flight , and the charcuterie board was really good. There was a large dog roaming around for guests to feed; although he was very sweet, I'm not a dog person. The staff was quick to accommodate and put him outside which was appreciated. FPO and I have been trying to do another winery field trip for a couple months now. We started out at another place about 16 minutes away (its name starts with the letter Bourg). So disappointing we left after less than half an hour and whipped out the trusty Yelp app to find someplace else. Lucky for us we found Serendipity. Located in Stilwell, KS it's a quaint, cute looking little place. Most of the outdoor seating was taken when we arrived, but that's okay. There is plenty of room inside. It's a converted stable and you can reserve the different "rooms" for small parties. Their food is pretty standard vineyard fare. We had their Mediterranean Dip. I tried a flight of their wines, FPO tried the whiskey flight. The service was great, the wines were too. We ended up buying winery swag and even a whole frozen pie that we're going to bake for Thanksgiving. I think next time we go we'll try the ice cream. It was a very nice afternoon at a quiet and friendly venue. Well worth the field trip. read more

I absolutely loved this place! It's a beautiful spot on the South side of Johnson County in Stilwell. It could have been the absolutely beautiful day, the clouds in the sky or the fact a glass of wine sounded nice after a long day...but I think it was the place as a whole. The staff was so inviting and I had the opportunity to check out some other private rooms for reservation before the crowd arrived. Each one has a theme, I'm there. I did a butterflight and loved the variety. My friend and I enjoyed a meat and cheese plate and even sat outside for a bit. Riesling, the winery dog was hoping for a bite of food. Went here on a Sunday to catch a drink before closing. It is just the cutest place ever. There was live music still playing even though we showed up just over an hour before close. Everyone that worked here was so nice. There was plenty of seating. I loved that there were booths and couches available upon reservation. This would be a great place for a future event. What a great winery and a remote location from KC, but not too far! They really know what they are doing with their wines but if you want to try something else they have a coffee shop as well. If you are going with a large group then I would recommend getting a reservation. They have horse stalls converted into very cool hang out spaces and better for an intimate group. This place is so beautiful. Loved the grounds and the buildings (only visited inside the tasting room). I thought the stable stalls you can rent for small gatherings were super cute! I like that they also have a coffee shop on site. They are constantly hosting events and have fun things like family trivia. Disappointed that the tasting was $14 and that for that price I couldn't even select my own samples! They give the option of White, Red, Sweet or Dry. (And if you come with a group of 6 or more they make you all choose the same flight!) I chose Sweet and of the 7 pours I only liked 3 of them. I really want to love this place and give it 5 stars but there's room for improvement with their tastings and this is a winery after all! read more

I could have sworn, I posted my review of Serendipity Farm and Vine right after we visited, but alas I find it still in my reviews to complete and we have been here two times. The first time, we joined our neighbors for a sunny fall afternoon in November. We love these types of venues with various outdoor seating options, live music, drinks and snacks. This particular afternoon, the music was by Aaron Luccero. The staff was great in helping us learn about their wines, tasting and checking to see if we were doing ok. The place was nearly full this particular afternoon and we appreciated the attention. The concept of this location is fabulous! What a nice country setting. Both the indoors and outdoors provided great backdrops for hanging out and for pictures. I sent the pictures to my mom and she immediately wanted me to reserve one of the 'stalls' for an after Thanksgiving family gathering which I did. We reserved the Monarch 'stall' for our family event. We were larger than that space, so we also had the tall tables outside the stall. We pre-ordered the 'Signature Grazing Board' which is a beautiful display as well as enjoyable taste. As the rest of the family was new to visit Serendipity a couple of red and white wine flights were ordered along with a couple of bottles. For those who didn't drink wine, there were also ciders and beer. We really enjoyed our time. They do not allow dogs as they have their own dog and other live animals that roam the property and in the past there was an altercation. So, keeping the zen environment going, you cannot bring your pets. We own a dog and would have loved to bring him, but also are respectful dog owners and 100% respect their decision. Just enjoy your time with family, friends, co-workers without having to keep an eye on your pet. My rating is a 5+ Star for the overall experience: ambiance, live music, staffing, etc. Everyone's taste palettes are different so it's not fair to rate make the rating for Serendipity Farm and Vine strictly on the wine. We also visit and order wines form the Napa Valley region on a regular basis, so a rating compared to those isn't fair to Serendipity. This being said, we all agreed "Metamorphic Love" was a keeper. We will be back again either to reserve a 'stall' for our cul-de-sac gathering and for another sunny afternoon when those days are back. Absolutely adore this little spot! I first visited with a friend when we were looking for an afternoon wine venue for "wine & work" afternoon. We ordered the grazing board which was divine! Currently my wine rack holds 6 bottles of Serendipity Wine from the my most recent visit and I look forward to the beautiful drive to this destination. Finally made it here for a gorgeous Friday evening. Sat outside, listening to the live music. I had the Sauvignon blanc, and hubby had the petite Syrah. Both very good. The $10 meat & cheese plate was a great value. Reisling the dog came by to beg for some salami. And the price of $27 for a bottle, instead of $11/glass, is good if you're drinking the same wine. Such a gorgeous venue. Very relaxing, enjoyed petting the pony & chatting with fellow patrons. This is less than 10 minutes from our new house, so I see us coming here often. I want to stop by for some coffee as well. I see myself coming here to work, and looking forward to chilly evenings with a glass of red. read more

Love this place! Have been so many times since they opened! We love going and sitting outdoors and listening to music when they have it, playing corn hole on the lawn, petting the fluffy white dog and pony, and NOW the coffee shop too! Don't miss this one! The staff was friendly and the catering they did was fantastic! The staff were so efficient at getting everyone fed and in and out and served and cleaned up before you could even bat an eye. Great space if looking for a large event rental. Will have to come back in the spring to check out the actual location and taste some amazing local wine! read more

We used Serendipity for our wedding and were extremely dissatisfied with the owner. Being a newer venue she clearly did not have things cemented in her contracts and seemed to care little about responsiveness, taking months to return emails or not responding at all. We thought nothing of it initially, but it worsened over time. We ultimately were directed to a new coordinator who also would take weeks to months to respond to most inquiries. We were given certain assurances that the day of the event were not provided. We had to ask multiple times for the included tasting so we could make our required wine selections. When we finally got a response and scheduled a time to come in and do a final walk through, the even space coordinator forgot and made us feel like an imposition because she needed to be somewhere else. We told her when we would like to do the rehearsal during this walk through. However, a day before the rehearsal when we were confirming the time, the coordinator told us she accidentally double booked with the Saturday wedding. Luckily they did their rehearsal in a different area, but we felt this was a tad unprofessional. We also paid extra to stay at the she shed the night before but were given no instruction from the coordinator or manager. Upon our arrival the staff barely acknowledged our presence and once we were able to get access to the shed, we started unloading our belongings. The owner stormed over and began locking the spaces we were told were shared even if we only rented the top portion. She locked away our personal items and we weren't able to get access to them until well after 10 am. We felt unwelcome and the owner had no tact. The day of the wedding, she barged into the bridal suite to tell us that we owed her more money because she forgot to invoice us and then stated she would not provide the assurances she previously agreed to. Our bridal party and family had to run around town getting items that were no longer being provided by the owner. We were also assured that the bartenders would start setting up and cooling down the beverages by 3 since we had a 4 pm wedding, yet by 330 nothing was set up so again our family and bridal party began setting things up and even had to go get extra coolers since the venue didn't have enough, even though they assured that they would. During the event, a bartender requested our day of coordinator cover the bar while they went to take a break and help out at the tasting room. We were told the tasting room would have no impact on our wedding, but that was far from correct. Several tasting room guests tried entering into the she shed multiple times. The owner came and locked all the doors preventing our guests staying in the she shed from entering. We were informed that the bartenders were difficult to find because they were also helping out at the tasting room, even though we spent quite a sum on the event space and expected to have bartenders focused purely on our event. The parking was impossible and our guests had no indication of where they should park. When they did park some were accosted by the owner. When we did our initial walk through, the owner assured us that she would have people direct parking and her sons would even act as a valet. This did not occur. We were notified by guests that the bartenders kept saying we ran out of things like water or certain beers, but as it turns out they just refused to go get the extra beverages from the other closed down bar. We took home so many cases of beer and water that easily should have been given to our guests. I will say that the venue itself is breathtakingly beautiful! It hardly needs any additional decor and it was perfect for our needs. We loved the she shed, the barn, and the large tent with seating. I just wish we had a better experience with the owner and her staff. But our special day just became one of ire. The owner truly made it a horrible experience and her email responses to our concerns were met with lies and anger, which was disappointing. She has no clue what customer service is and I implore you to use another venue who understands the value of your business. read more

This might be my new favorite winery in KC. I have enjoyed many lovely afternoons and evenings and Stone Pillar and KC Wine Co, and I still love those places. However, Serendipity is picturesque, with great seating outside and a lovely farm atmosphere. More importantly, I think their wine options are more varied and slightly higher quality than some of the other local wineries - perhaps because their import their grapes from California. Food options are limited but they do offer a charcuterie board and even had fresh local pies with ice cream while we were there. Be aware that the winery and tasting-room are adults only, so it is probably best to look elsewhere if you want to bring the kids along. Otherwise, I definitely recommend Serendipity for a fun weekend outing. read more

Our daughter's wedding took place at Serendipity on June 1st, 2024. I want to first mention that the venue is beautiful and served as an all around perfect setup to hold their ceremony and reception. My reason for the one star rating...Several days after the wedding we learned that the bar had run out of several items in our alcohol package with an hour left in the evening. Our daughter, the bride, asked for their signature drink at 9:30 only to find out that the bar had run out of tequila. She then asked for a vodka/soda and they told her they were out of soda water. We have since learned from our guests that several beers and Quirk ran out as well. I spoke to the owner, Amy Roberts, to inform her of what had happened. She blamed us (and our wedding planner) for not letting her head bartender know of this problem. She explained that they had more alcohol in storage. So, in her mind she held up her end of the contract. Amy went on to say that her head bartender knew there was more alcohol but because WE didn't report it running low, they didn't restock. We purchase a very expensive alcohol package for our guests. The hired bar staff and/or the owner's lack of communication to the staff is clearly to blame. To think we were responsible for making sure the alcohol is replenished at our own daughter's wedding is absurd. She is unwilling to refund any part of the package. From a previous review (it appears that this has happened before) they were able to bring home the alcohol that was owed to them. This was not offered to us. We are incredibly disappointed with the owner's lack of any responsibility in this matter. There was no apology whatsoever. She blamed us and failed to try to make things better by justifiable compensation. She breached her end of the contract plain and simple. read more

This venue is 21 and up. No one under the age of 21. We arrived with our newborn baby and were instantly turned away. Will never return. The waitress told us to leave before we even got off the gravel parking lot. Oh, no one under 21 but they allowed a large white dog to greet us and follow up back to the car as we loaded up our baby to visit another winery up the street. Extremely disappointed and displeased with the way we were treated with a baby despite the place having 6 guests and we wanted to sit outside. Again, I repeat, will not return. My sis and I took my mom here to celebrate her birthday and I'm so glad we did! I had heard good things but this was all of our first time at Serendipity so I had called a couple days ahead to make a reservation and arranged to have a charcuterie board. We arrived at 5pm on a Saturday and it wasn't too crowded so were offered a couple seating options and of course we chose the darling little den in a horse stable!! We all had wine flights which were awesome! $14 for 7 wines samples seemed super reasonable. Now when the charcuterie board arrived, it was game over! They had an amazing spread with cheeses, GF crackers, hummus, pitas, some other delicious sweet dip, veggies, grapes, dried fruit, chocolate... you get it. A girlfriend and I went on a Sunday afternoon, which I don't get very many Sundays off, and were completely blown away with just not the wine but the customer service and ambience! As I'm typing this review, I am enjoying their Metaphorphic live and it is just amazing! I hate the sweet Kansas wine stuff. So I have found this wine to be really good as well as the Scarlet Malbec! I can not wait to drive back there to visit and relax all day.
