Hair turned out perfect, and it was so fun chatting with her during the appointment. She makes the whole experience feel easy. One tip: she stays pretty busy, so it's definitely best to book an appointment ahead of time if you can. The front desk staff were juggling a lot when I came in, she might be newer, but they were still super friendly and helpful and told me about her new baby. While I was there, they happened to have a same-day opening for a nail appointment, so I grabbed it. If you're planning to get your nails done too, just plan for an hour or a little more. I have visited this salon and each time I am more impressed. I only go while vacationing and they treat me like a regular. The hair product they use is Goldwell and my hair is in better condition after I color it than it was before. Linda did my color and I highly recommend her. Her knowledge and expertise make you feel comfortable and confident. The owner is present and hands on. The salon has a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. And the price is right. I have had a terrible experience with this spa. I would not recommend. I was promised she could help me go from brown to blonde, and after the first session.. i let her try to fix it again, and I paid $420 all together for this look... I am very disappointed. And on top of that!! They refused to give me a refund, and told me they don't see anything wrong with my hair after what she did to it! I am very upset and I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!!!!!!!! Very poor customer service, and they don't even care what they did to my hair. They did offer to "fix the sides" but they will not be touching my hair after this... Bring Your Bank Account! It is extremely rare that I write a negative review, but in this case I really felt that I needed to share my experience. Serendipity Salon & Spa is EXTREMELY expensive, especially for the Punta Gorda area. My first visit there cost me $310 for a color, highlight, and cut. I was shocked when they gave me the bill since that was significantly higher than their listed prices! I decided to give them one more chance, and again it was way too expensive. When they called to confirm my appointment and I asked the price for a partial highlight I was told $85. When I was finished I was told that I owed $220! That didn't even include a haircut, but it did include a $40 10-minute blow dry by her new guy stylist! What bothered me even more than the price was the attitude of the owner, Sue. She took absolutely no responsibility for anything and blamed her employees for everything. When I told her I was disappointed that the color from the $310 visit didn't last very long, she said that was probably because the assistant she assigned to apply the color must not have done it properly since her Goldwell products should have lasted. (Too bad for me!) When I asked about the $220 charge for my last visit, she said whoever gave me the $85 price quote on the phone obviously didn't know what their prices are, or she just didn't explain it correctly. (Again, too bad for me!) I will never go back to this salon, and I won't recommend them to anyone. read more

I'm new to the area and needed a cut and color. My appt. was for 11:30 for 2 hrs - first time consultation. 3 hrs and 45 mins later minus $250.00 I left with an OK hair cut. This salon has no respect for your time - only their own. Never once did anyone say 'we're running late, missing a stylist, would you like to reschedule?' Since they were running behind I was given, without asking, an extra hair mask and assumed it would be complimentary - Nope - charged me full price. I had asked for a specific trim and color and got something totally different on both counts - darker and much shorter. I was clear that 'ash' doesn't work and turns a green hue with my hair. Guess what.... Sue used ash and my hair has a nice green tint in the fluorescent lights. This place is stupidly expensive, doesn't listen to you and has no respect for your time. New to area and needed a root color. Got the formula from my colorist back home and called. On line their website said prices for root color was 65.00. Since I have short hair, I assumed I would be charged that. When I called, I was told the starting price was 110.00. When I mentioned the website price, she said that that was not accurate. Excellent hair salon, they do a wide variety of styles from very natural to conservative to edgy, so all ages and lifestyles will find a good fit here. So happy to find a Goldwell Salon in Punta Gorda! I called to make an apt- the receptionist was professional and friends. I was able to get an apt right away (wonderful considering it season). It's a beautiful Salon and the service was great! They're shampoo room is private with massage chairs and they provide a scalp massage with the shampoo. I got a Demi and blow dry with Alexis. For what you spend at this place, not worth it. I will never go back to this salon. My boyfriend bought me a gift certificate to this place for a massage and sauna session. The day of my appointment, the massage therapist did not show up. I decided to do other services instead. The hair stylist argued over layering my hair and the nail tech yapped for 2 hrs. They wrote me another gift certificate back but apparently didn't catalog it properly. So after having to buy a massage elsewhere I went back several months later with my leftover gift certificate to get my nails painted. Well, they didn't have any of the colors I wanted bc their last nail tech TOOK all their polishes (what a joke). Premiere salon. Right. Then come time to pay, the owner can't find the paper trail for the gift certificate. So I say look I'm late, I want to pay and go. Sue then tries to blame me for it taking 2 hrs to soak off my acrylics/paint my nails bc (her words) I didn't book the appointment correctly. Apparently after telling Michele numerous times that I wanted my acrylics taken off and her telling me she was blocking off enough time, it was somehow my fault. All the while raising her voice to me in front of other clients. I said, ok fine, I'll pay but I'm never coming back here. She continued to argue and wouldn't run the transaction so I walked out bc I was over an hour late for work to which she said snidely as I walked out Don't worry, I'll pay the bill. That's premiere service right there. FYI, Galaxy Nails in PC gets my nails done including removal of acrylics in 45-50 min plus I get a glass of wine. Serendipity is a complete joke. read more

Talk about a hot mess. Appointments run late 45 minutes or more. Stylists come and go so you definitely can't count on getting a good stylist much less a good cut or color. They are giving away hair services when you purchase facials to bring in new clients and this is probably the reason. The person at the front desk was different on each of my three attempts with this place and each one was more confused about scheduling appointments than the last. Their facials are the drawing card, but the bottom line is that there are so many really good salons in Punta Gorda that this one is not worth what they charge for what you get. read more

I am so glad I didn't read the reviews before trying out Serendipity or else I would not have tried it. My experience here was one of the most pleasant that I have had at any salon. I tried without success to make an appt at my usual salon only to be told it was a 4 week wait. I was going on a trip and was in dire need of coloring my gray and highlights. I walked into Serendipity on a whim after receiving their mailer. Angela at the front desk was so pleasant and was able to squeeze me in the next day, letting me know that I may have to wait a little bit. I was just so happy to get an appt. that I didn't care. The salon is beautiful inside and from the moment I arrived, I felt pampered. The owner Sue introduced herself, I was offered a beverage and was taken immediately. I was so lucky to have gotten Scott. He listened to what I wanted and made suggestions. I have a lot of hair, so I was there for 3 hours, which is normal for me. I'm not going to lie, this place is not cheap, but it is well worth it. I am from NY and the prices are on par with my salon there. My hair looks amazing. The blow out that Scott did was one of the best. No one down here know how to blow out hair! I have already booked him again to do my hair for a party later this month. I have not had a haircut here yet, but intend to use Scott when I am due. The shampoo alone was worth it...massaging chairs! Ursula introduced herself and I was told about a special promotion. When I told her I was going out of town for the week and was going to miss it, she graciously extended her promotion for me if I booked before I left. So I now have that to look forward to as well. I really have nothing bad to say about this salon. Maybe because I was new they paid more attention, but I honestly did not get that feeling. read more

PEDICURE HEAVEN ~ After trying 6 other salons in search of a decent pedicure I found Serendipity Salon & Spa and TINA ~ who gave me a fabulous pedicure. My feet have never felt better since relocating to Florida. The only recommendation I'd give to the owner is to add a spa chair for ultimate relaxation while getting a pedicure ~ a wave/pulse action on the back would be heavenly. But the chair you currently have is very comfortable! TINA is the technician to ask for when you go here. She made my feet feel too good to walk on !! LOL read more

Today I had my second experience at Serendipity! Both my daughter and i had cuts and color with Mindy and went home thrilled. The salon is beautiful, the team delightful and Mindy is an awesome stylist. They use Goldwell color which leaves your hair feeling great, not crispy like other brands. The skill of the team is extremely diverse, my 25 year old daughter was looking for highlights and a fun style and I went for single dimension color and a beautiful short cut and birth of us left happy. I have been going to Serendipity Salon for many years. While I agree that they are not inexpensive, it is my belief that you get what you pay for. If service and ambience are important to you, then it is worth paying a little more. In my opinion, the service is excellent, the staff friendly and professional, and I continually get compliments on my hair, both color and style. Sue is my stylist but I would trust anyone in the salon with my hair. It seems that the only time people write a review is if they are angry. One star is more than I really care to give. First of all they have this listed with 2 $$ for price point. Should be more like 5$$$$$. This place is stupid expensive. Prices are something right out of rodeo drive, wish I could say the color was the same. I have VERY short hair and a two color highlight lowlight with haircut was $280. I walked out with roots already looking like I need color. For the price I think my hair should be almost perfect. Of course Sue called me back three days later and offered to redo it but you can't go right back in and color again. She should know that! Had I read these comments I probably wouldn't have made my first appt. I saw someone else said bring the bank. Just had my second visit to this salon and both times my husband told me I looked " sexy". Sue is the owner and really " knows hair". The color is great and she gives a really good haircut. As a local who attended the salon every 5 weeks I expected to be treated better during season. Sadly, however, my experience was to have the owner, Sue, look at my hair and then have a helper apply color, while working on 3 other clients, ALL at the same time. Needless to say, what should have been a 2 hour appointment became a 4 hour appointment. The prices are outrageous and on more than one occasion I ended up not getting the color I had requested. One time I had to wait 20 minutes after my appointment was scheduled to start so that my stylist could finish enjoying a facial! And then boasted about how relaxing the experience was for her....while I had been waiting. After giving the salon several opportunities to win me back, I simply moved to a new salon. I cannot believe for those prices that you are not valued as a client, are delayed for the owner's self-pampering, and attended to by someone other than your requested stylist. They lost sight of what was important and in a small town, customer service is essential. This is not Beverly Hills and but you would not know that based on their ridiculous prices. If this were the last salon in town, I would travel before going back there. Customers be warned! You may start out being treated like a queen but despite giving extremely generous tips, you too will find yourself disrespected in time. read more

well I must agree with the last few bad reviews. I was impressed with the building and looked forward to my visit for a change in my hair color. my stylist began by being about 30 minutes late ( I was offered drinks by a few of tbe staff but just wanted to get started) then she was telling me how bad my color was. That did not make me feel good. she said she could fix it. I let her talk me into a color and then began what I guess is the usual 'wait'...almost 2 hours. While waiting a lady with an accent told me she could fix my eye brows(I did not know they were broken). I declined but my stylist then mentioned it again while cutting my hair. I figured when a customer said no that would be enough-guess not. Similar to the other unhappy customers I should have asked about prices... It was well over $200 and when I asked I was told corrective color costs more. No one mentioned 'corrective' anything to me. When I left I was also told that Standard gratuity is 20%...ummmm...shouldn't that be up to the customer? I left feeling like they really didn't care about me or any of the other ladies sitting around waiting for our stylist to finally get to us.
