The staff at Serenity Dental are great from start to finish. Been going there even after moving 60 plus miles away

Have been going to Serenity/Dr. Heidari for over 18 years. Never had a problem with his professionalism, work, and care. Recently had four Veneers put on to correct some slight cracking and decay. I appreciate the fact he wanted to do Veneers and not Caps, since veneers only removes a small amount of the tooth, while removing the cracking enamel, and not 75% of the tooth for a cap. I have been waiting to write this review for the last month - and I finally have the opportunity to do so. About a month ago, I was experiencing some tooth pain on both sides of my mouth but put off going to the dentist because all I have ever had in the past were terrible experiences. Again, about a month ago is when my filling broke and I was left with a broken tooth, in addition to having severe pain on the identical tooth on the right side. I was freaking out!! I had been searching up sedation dentists in San Jose and landed on Serenity Dental Group. When I first called, Ruby answered the front desk phone was was the sweetest person ever. She did not judge me for saying I am in fact freaking out and terrified. She eased my anxiety immediately by saying "don't freak out I promise we will take care of you!" She set me up for an appointment just a few days later and gave me Shayeda's (front office manager) email to quickly confirm my insurance. When I came in that Tuesday they gave me a full round of x-rays and Dr. Heidari was so calm and patient when he explained what needed to be done. They sent me to the front to confirm my treatment plan and explained in thorough detail how the sedation process would work. Turns out I would need two crowns for the top two teeth in the back and I was absolutely terrified, but again the great amazing staff at Serenity Dental took amazing care of me. Fast forward to a month later (recently) - the morning of my procedure I took the prescription sedative and began feeling relaxed and sleepy within 30 minutes. Not once did I feel nauseous or even anxious! Lila lead me to the chair and held my arm as she lead me so gently. Ruby held my hand after putting a weighted blanket on and said "I'm going to turn the lights off and let you rest for a bit." I had woken up only a few times during the procedure and every time I was fully numb and did not feel a single thing. I love that Ruby answered every question and conversed with me during the moments I was awake as this really helped ease my anxiety. They were all so kind and helpful when it was time for me to go home, too. My boyfriend couldn't stop commenting on how kind everyone was! When I got home I was so scared that my teeth were going to be hurting and I can tell you right now, I can tell how gentle Dr. Heidari was with me. I did not have any pain only expected sensitivity. When it came time to put on the permanent crowns, this was when all of the pain I had experienced for the last few years was put to rest. I am so so blessed to have found Dr. Heidari, Ruby, Lila, and Shayeda. I feel like family every time I walk in as they address me by first name and ask about my life. I am so happy to have found my forever dentist! I recommend him to all of my friends and family!! Went here because it said online that the office specialized in disabilities and people who hated going to the dentist. I will give them props for being physically gental and mindful of my disabilities. Also the initial visit fee was fine. That being said, everything else was a bad experience for me. I do feel like my teeth were insulted while I was there in a way that seemed unnecessary. And the proposed treatment plan was the most expensive treatment plan I have ever seen for me. I've been going here for years and the service has gone down hill. Dr Hedari is a very nice person but his staff is terrible. No online reservation system, no electronic communication whatsoever. Was called day of appointment and asked if I could come an hour early. People are busy and have lives. Get the receptionist a head set and tell her to put her phone on silent. She puts calls on speaker when people are trying to get treatment, Hygienist never asks if you need a break, need to listen to music, might need something to relax. I would recommend going elsewhere. read more

My husband is blind, hard of hearing and English is his second language so he often faces communication challenges in healthcare settings, but Dr. Heidari went above and beyond to accommodate his needs. Speaking slowly and clearly, he made sure my husband understood every aspect of his treatment and was comfortable throughout the whole procedure. This review is LONG overdue. My apologies! I contacted Serenity Dental Group a few months ago after I had chipped my front tooth. Another dentist wanted to do a complete root canal. I went to Serenity and met with Dr. Heidari. He was very thorough, and after reviewing my x-rays, he informed me that he could do a veneer. It took two visits and the staff, and his specialist who color matched my teeth and made the mold for my new veneer were professional and wonderful. It was very frustrating to deal with them because they kept telling me that my identifying numbers for membership for 'Delta Dental' insurance were 'invalid' and it's like well I know I'm with Delta Dental I use the Delta Dental website, when I call them on the phone they say it's 'Delta Dental'. There must be some kind of mistake. There was a great deal of trouble communicating with Serenity, someone there would answer the phone, and they would tell me that they could not help me because it was not during business hours. So, then, why are you answering the phone if it is not business hours? You just want to inform me that you can't help me? It was the same person who would answer the phone when they were 'open'. After a point, they would not respond to voicemail messages I left. And then I sent them an email with my membership card for insurance attached as a .pdf and they did not even acknowledge this for weeks, we ran into the holidays, they were closed I guess for the entire week of July 4th and so that was shot time-wise. It's like, they can't even leave me a voicemail message telling me what is up? No. My special needs condition makes me keep odd hours. Can't we exchange information in non-real time over messaging? Finally, I call them after the holidays, during business hours, leave a message. No response from that for an entire day. Call again the next day. Get same person on the phone. I have to send another email to them with membership card attached while on the phone and find out that I am a member of 'Delta Care' which also has the name 'Delta Dental' several places all over the card too and they don't take 'Delta Care' which is some kind of HMO variation of 'Delta Dental' which owns them. Well okay thanks, you could have explained that to me several weeks ago while my teeth rot but I guess you weren't very interested in helping me figure it out. But they are not very helpful, accommodating, kind, courteous people to deal with I found. I felt like their tone, their attitude toward me was very curt and abrupt like, 'go away, you're annoying us, you're bothersome, we're busy, go away'. Like if you're not an immediate source of income for them they just don't care about you at all. So I'm going to try to find someone else. From the moment I contacted Serenity Dental I knew I was in the right hands. I have been very picky in choosing my doctors. Serenity team and doctor Heidari were extremely caring. My TMJ was bothering me for a long time and I had received different diagnosis except the correct diagnosis prior seeing Dr. Heidari. I was in tremendous pain as well as painful headaches sometimes from the moment I woke up in the morning. With the help of Dr. Heidari and his team, within only couple of months of treatments I was back to my normal self. It was now easy to show off my dashing smile. So before I post this whole story let me just say the guy that works there seems amazing and knows his stuff. Has a pano x-ray.. now story time! Wisdom Tooth Story Ok so I wanted to post a little story or maybe a little rant about my wisdom teeth surgery experience. Note: So first just to let you know they're only shaving my bottom teeth not pulling them out because it's touching the nerve so they're worried removing them would paralyze my jaw... The day: so the day starts as they have me take this pill and I'm supposed to be out of it after 30 minutes ... by 5 minutes I'm already spinning and feeling drunk and I really don't remember how i managed to walk inside.. what I do remember is that I got up and tried to grab my phone every chance I got and they hid it from me and I still found it. The doctor comes, uses a syringe forces some nasty liquid in my mouth and I'm completely knocked out after that. So by the time it's done I just get in the car, they don't really talk to me or my boo about aftercare they just hand him a bag and say everything he needs is in there but they only gave us toothpaste, a toothbrush and floss...... Realization: So skipping ahead to the important stuff now... so now my swelling has gone down I can finally make sense of what's going on inside there now, and then... that's when I realized.... they STITCHED MY LEFT CHEEK... they stitched it to my gums thinking maybe that was part of my gum or something??? And they also forgot my antibiotics which resulted in giving me a fever!.... so now I have a giant scar on the inside of my cheek & less flexibility back there. I also find out that after it's all healed and the stitches went away... they completely missed stitched both bottom teeth... so now I can SEE my wisdom tooth on the bottom... I can even feel them!! Help: I call them to let them know and hopefully get a syringe or something to clean the left over unstitched holes in my mouth.. this lady who says she worked on my mouth tells me that they "did not" stitch my cheek... and that they don't want me to get pockets if they give me a syringe or whatever. Lady was super rude too by the way. Could not believe how bad the service was after I get the surgery .. they refuse to give me anything to clean it out with and said leave it alone it was "stitched right" she was also rude in other ways but not gonna go into detail with that right now. Again help, also current status: I find out there's also a hole in one of my teeth.. like they drilled a hole in my tooth and forgot to fill it, i'm wondering where this awful taste keeps coming from and there's stuff inside there, I try to clean it just to find out that area was soooo sensitive, it was so painful I feel like from watching someone in labor that it this pain Would be worse then that... so I got most of it out before feeling that pain and honestly drinking even cold water after that was so painful, any toothpaste going back there was painful. I've been scared to go back there at all since but god it's so gross and so smelly.. So yesterday I decided to just shove toothpaste down there and yes it did hurt but not as bad as actually touching the hole.. and woke up with it cleaned out... ordered some syringes off amazon that are small enough hoping it works to suck the stuff out of it because I know I can't shoot any water or anything back there without hurting myself. And by the way this is now 2 months later. note : Only the right side hurts to touch, left side i can clean out fine. UPDATE: had to speak with them recently so my new oral surgeon can receive an email of my last pano x-ray and the lady on the phone mostly disregarded what I had to say and kept BEGGING literally begging me to take down my yelp review because she felt it was "unfair to their practice" although I believe it's unfair to me to have this horrible of an experience to also continue months over time while also being pregnant. I don't feel I should risk going back and making things worse for me nor my baby. They are extremely uneducated, I don't even believe it's legal for them to beg me to remove my yelp review and if I had the time to sue I would definitely do it in a heartbeat. She said she is asking me for just a "favor" while continuing to now argue with me over the phone about removing my review... I believe they should have owed me the favor of not treating me like a Guinea pig and having someone who seems like they must of been 80% blind to work on me and waste all our money into their horrible and shady business. If I can give negative stars I would. Please do not take your family here, I would never recommend this place to my worst enemy. I finally go back to asking about that pano, the original reason I called.. and she says "yes my assistant will take care of that" then continues to argue with me over my yelp review. read more

Regarding terrible neglect from my dentist at Serenity Dental Group. Recently my dentist recommended caps 14 and 15 needed Crowns that my teeth were in need that It was getting close to my nerve. I needed caps ASAP so of course I gathered both my insurances which I have Principal and PPO Delta which are the best dental insurance not only did they charge both my insurance I also payed out of pocket $1038.00 on my care credit card. As a patient I highly trusted my oral dentist and his recommendations, the dentist put temporary caps on my teeth which the cement was hurting my gums, number 14 of my crowns was hurting me beyond measure, I called to complain and my dentist performed X rays and assured me all was okay. A week later Tatyana told me my caps had arrived but when they put them on the crowns weren't fitting I complained and complained About the pain that he said it was because I had the wrong size caps on that they would have to do another Impression. Not only did one of my caps fall off while I was at the beach they told me to come in so they can cement them back on . He prescribed Valiums when he should of prescribed me antibiotics like my secondary dentist did. I told Dr Heidari that I was in unbearable pain. My pain is and was at level 10, with that being documented he also made sure to charge all my benefit coverage to the max and then over charged me for every visit. Not only did he tell me it was my muscle he re assure me that once they had the right size caps I was going to feel better, he was wrong again. Not only was I visiting the dental office 2 times a week for the pain they blame me for having the wrong size caps because I moved my jaw when they were doing the impressions so they blame me. Finally my new crowns come in and fit okay felt like they were the okay size but 24 hours later I was still taking the same amount of pain killers so I called the office again to complain about my pain Tatyana said " Oh honey It does sound like you need a root canal" Like duh! I've been telling you guys the whole time something wasnt right so they schedule me for Tuesday which is tomorrow 8/10/2021 by this time I have had it My husband and i found another dentist to examine the caps and the teeth they schedule me the very next day for a root canal, the new oral dentist found my tooth was infected and I desperately needed a root canal that my prior dentist examined and deemed okay. My new dentist said I had a infected canal. When I went in for my root canal she told me we had to stop in the middle of the Root canal because it was too infected and was bleeding everywhere, I was taking 6 ibuprofen's and the "Valium" every six hours, not only could I not eat but I also couldnt sleep I also lost so much time at work because Dr Heidari was ignoring my pain, he told me it was my muscle that was hurting, that my mouth was adjusting to the caps, all lies to get more money from me. The dentist does not care about me. They only care about the money for his greedy hack shop. I am emotionally and physically drained. I feel stupid for trusting these money hungry people I hope I can help another person before they go here. I also got in contact with the Dental Board and going to be hiring a lawyer for all they put me through. All the money spent and time off of work. I just feel that I was taken advantage off. read more

Dr. Ali Heidari is a the MOST AMAZING dentist and if I could give him 10 start I would've. I have been going to his office for at least 15 years. He did the most amazing job with my teeth. I had to have 4 teeth implants and he did an outstanding job for my implants. I also got beautiful the veneers for my top teeth and I he also fixed my bottom and my top teeth and made them super straight. His office in San Jose is very modern and spotless. His staff and my fav is Ruby and Sheida are super friendly and also very knowledgeable. I have the most beautiful smile right now because of Dr. Heidari. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Headari and his staff. read more

not sure where to begin. my 88 year old mother who is in the latter stages of alzheimer's was referred here by her regular dentist. dr. heidari recommended over $7000.00 of dental work...JUST TO BEGIN WITH. dr. heidari made her situation sound dire (that mom was in a lot of pain). we went ahead and scheduled an appointment (many weeks out from her initial consultation) pending an "OK" from her primary care doctor for chairside general anesthesia. however, in order to book that appointment we were REQUIRED to pay half of the estimate ($2938.00)! no payment - no appointment. well, her primary at kaiser redwood city said she couldn't make a advise us as to the safety of general anesthesia for mom...so the appointment was cancelled by dr. heidari's anesthesiologist dr. lamb (who when i spoke to him on the phone whined about not being able to bill out for the hours that were booked for my mom...yes, he actually said that OUT LOUD to me!!) we then switched her to stanford senior care clinic and got her a new doctor. the new doctor said NO WAY...he would not recommend general anesthesia for my mom under any circumstances and that her teeth didn't look as awful as dr. heidari claimed and that mom showed no signs of pain. well, today i called to get a refund. and now i'm told they want to charge 3% fee for that refund. (was not told that when i paid their extortion fees to get an appointment...would not have paid it had i known!) edit: i told their office manager that we would be happy to accept a check for the refund. she refused. this place is a SCAM that only cares about getting PAID. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Heidari since 2010 I believe as he first began his work with Serenity Dental at around that time. I was just 8 years old or so at that time. I was no easy patient, and the journey of my teeth and smile was no easy journey either. My very first major experience with Dr. Heidari had been 7 teeth extractions on me when I was very young. That was just the beginning of my journey to a better smile. I am now 20 years old and have practically grown up with Serenity Dental and Dr. Heidari taking care of me and putting his best effort into my smile, and even now I am not the greatest patient when I am required to do things. His kindness and patience is like no other. I have had two major surgeries with Dr. Heidari, one of them being very scary and serious, and the other being a normal operation. I have had it somewhat rough with my dental life, but I am so glad I had a Doctor like Dr. Heidari through it all. The amount of trust, faith, and respect in him that I have is immense. Serenity Dental is truly a family and I couldn't recommend any better dental office. As someone who grew up with Dr. Heidari, I can say that whether it is you or your children, they will be taken care of and treated like Dr. Heidari's own family. Thank you! read more

I am a basketcase when it comes to the dentist, but Dr. Heidari is saving my teeth one visit at a time. The fact they offer sedation is huge. I can get a ton of work done in one visit while being knocked out the whole time. The staff is great, especially the front desk. Shaieda (sp?) has taken so much time to work with my insurer and come up with the best plan for my dental work. I went in today for a cleaning and my anxiety got the best of me in the lobby. They were very supportive and gladly rescheduled my appt on the spot. I hate going to the dentist, but I love this group of people. read more

Horrible experience, over priced and no communication. 1. The dental hygienist (not Leslie the other woman) was pushy, forceful and lays all over you while she cleans your teeth. Talks to you like a 2 year old. 2. Apparently I needed 4 fillings went to a different dentist and nope only needed a teeth cleaning. 3. Got my wisdom teeth pulled and they didn't do a post check in. I had to call them to get my stitches out. Then they left one stitch in. Then the day they scheduled me they were closed! 4. They blow up your phone like there's no tomorrow, even after you've told them 3 times you've moved on. I had to block them on my phone. These are just my issues, my family has experienced another handful of issues. read more

Although advertised as a dentist with some kind of expertise with special needs patients, don't believe it for a second. They have NO IDEA how to deal with anxiety or autism. On top of that, my son was there for a cleaning under a very expensive anesthesia (seven thousand just for the anesthesiologist.) After my son was under, I was presented with a bill for over ten thousand dollars of work that was 'needed'. This was about seventeen or so fillings and four complete veneers on all four front teeth. The dentist did not come out to talk to me, and I was not invited back to see the x-rays or have the problems shown/explained to me. I could not afford to have my son put under a second time, so I felt like I had no option but to consent to the proposed treatment. A new dentist has seen the x-rays and record and although they will not go on record, I have been told that almost all of the work done on my son was unnecessary. To the criminal extent. My son's teeth were filed down to accommodate the veneers that are fragile and will not last his lifetime. He also had a lot of other teeth drilled that did not have cavities. I found this out just over the year so I am unable to sue. However I will be trying to get the records to someone in charge of licensing and perhaps law-enforcement. This was at a minimum fraud and assault. I'm sick that I trusted this guy and this business. read more

Iv been going to serenity dental for about 5 years now. Great clinic, wonderful staff and very detailed and organized with their work. I haven't had a single issue with them in the last last 5 years. Docot Ali is super chill and very personalable with his patience, he takes his time and always gives out the best work. Since I run on a very tight schedule, the the front desk ladies always figure out a way to work around my schedule and set me up with appointments that's more convenient for me so I don't miss any check ups! I highly recommend the Serenity Dental Group in San Jose off of Stevens Creek Blvd. Dr. Hedari and his team are really great and very caring! My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Hedari's for over five years. The staff works really well together. They support one another and in turn, as patients, we feel supported throughout our visit with them. It is really a pleasant experience. Dr. Hedari's team has been with him longer than we are patients of their practice. From what we have seen with other dental practices, it is rare to see the same team members with this much longevity at the same practice. Dr. Hedari himself is awesome. He has resolved multiple issues (that I won't mention here) but one thing I will is that several years ago he fitted me with a night guard that is so comfortable I can easily forget I have it in. The office itself is clean and modern and they use the latest equipment. Parking is easy. I can't say enough good things about them. As long as we live here in San Jose, we will never go elsewhere. read more

I did my annual visit without realizing that they are out of network for my insurance (Guardian) On spot they let me know that my insurance won't cover $110. I agree to pay and to go ahead with the procedures. For me this was done deal. I was unpleasantly surprised to receive $160 additional bill from them. I went to pay the bill and discuss my disappointment. The charge was waived. They stand behind their words and I highly recommend them. read more

I received excellent care during my visit to Serenity Dental. I had my wisdom teeth pulled by a different dentist/practice and had been experiencing severe pain from a wisdom tooth removal procedure for more than a week. I went to Serenity Dental where Dr. Heidari himself performed a laser treatment on my face and inside of my mouth to alleviate the pain, swelling and bruising. I am happy to say that the pain and swelling began to rapidly decrease after the care I received here. Highly recommend! read more

I got 3 crowns done by Dr. Hedari. Recently, he was on vacation when my crown fell off so I was referred by his front staff office to go to his friend, Dr. Moradi @ Signature Smiles. I went on an emergency visit and they were able to fit me in ASAP (thank goodness.) Since it was a temporary cement, my crown fell off again for the 2nd time. I called Serenity and asked who the name of the dentist, the phone # to the dentist that I was referred to. The receptionist was so rude, she said she didn't know and for me to go on GOOGLE to find out. Unfortunately, I didn't take a business card to the dentist they referred me to so essentially I had to rely on their staff to give me the Dr. Moradi's information. I was shocked that Shyeda told me to google his information, even though they referred me to him. She was rude about not wanting to find out the dentist's information or even taking the time to ask another person in the office. My dental insurance didn't pay for any of the the crowns because they said Dr. Hedari could of saved my teeth - instead of putting in the crowns. I am just the messenger and since then I haven't been back to Serenity. I felt like I was a victim, since I trusted his decision making. Just not sure who to trust, so people do your research before going in - you don't want to get taken advantage or feel vulnerable. I'm sure I will have to deal with this office again, if I have more problems with my crowns. I generally don't post reviews, but I felt I had no power over my bad experiences :( read more

I have a GIGANTIC fear of the Dentist (any dentist). I used to be able to get through it by using benzodiazepines & Always using nitrous oxide. But because of a new medication I'm on, the nitrous no longer works -- was not able to go see a dentist only for a cleaning . Then something magical happened -- my fiancé found a "sensitive" dentist online. SERENITY DENTAL is an absolutely Amazing place. It is modern in its look & in its new technology. Due to their ability to use nitrous, benzodiazepines the night before & at the office (I believe) @ Most Importantly for me, with a great fear & a lot of work needed, you can have an anaesthesiologist come in for your appointment, you will be asleep for the Entire Time!!!! During My upcoming appointment I'll be unconscious for @ 5 hours. Also, no memory of it at all !! It's a bit pricey, but all the $$$ in the world is worth it. Have fear of dental procedures? Need special attention when dental procedures are performed? Then Serenity Dental is the place for you as it was for me. I have epilepsy and fibromyalgia. I can't have major dental work done the standard way since many of the medications and procedures used could trigger a seizure or a fibro flare. But Dr. Heidari and his excellent staff knew exactly what to do to make my experience as safe and as comfortable as possible. I had eight crowns, an implant and refill of old cavities with new polymers done. That's a lot from bad dentistry as a kid! But it had to be done and all at once because of my conditions. But I was safe, comfortable, and well cared for with state-of-the-art equipment and their good care the whole time. Dr. Heidari, Lila, Ruby and the anesthesiologist they brought in Dr. Michael Lam, never left my side for one minute during the whole procedure. My spouse can confirm that. And their aftercare has been full of laughter, courtesy and more excellent dentistry. They worked in concert with my regular dentist to do all this, so that everyone was on the same page. Even the gentlemen that made my crowns was right there working with them and me to make my crowns perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better situation to take care of my extensive dental needs.
