Friendliest nail techs in the biz. My mom and I have been going to Phuong and Nick for as long as I can remember, and followed them when the opened their own salon. They have also renovated recently and took over the space next to them. Always greeted with warm smiles and happiness even on the phone. This nail shop is no frills at all. I found that I couldn't really relax because it was dirty. The towel the technician used did not seem clean nor did the chair. The nail technician took time with my pedicure and spent most of the time on the foot massage which was nice but then nothing looked like it was clean enough and the pumice stone she used on my feet looked worn from overuse. Needless to say, I did not stay for the Manicure I said I wanted upon arrival. I will not be going back. read more

My family and I came here to get our nails done for my sisters wedding and we were more than pleased. We are critiques of nail salons being that we have been to many places but Serenity served us well. The salon was clean and sanitary. Came in an hour before close and it was really busy. The nail technician had to redo my nails three times. I noticed the next day that my nails were two different colors (he grabbed the wrong color when he had to redo them). My toe nails did not dry completely even after sitting there for two hours, there were marks/indentations. Waste of $60 bucks. read more

Got my nails done here for the first time and it was just okay. The place itself is not aesthetically pleasing, the employees were nice enough. You get what you pay for though. I got gel nails and was underwhelmed by the quality of the products used. After 4-5 days my gel nails began to develop tiny bubbles. By the 10th day, I was able to peel them all off myself without any acetone. I probably won't come back here. read more

Got a gel manicure the other day here, can't say I had the best experience. My nail technician filed my nails into rounded tips, but left some awkwardly pointy. I have spots of dirt embedded into the gel and one nail is also scuffed. One hand is also completely not shiny, instead has a very dull matte texture. The atmosphere inside was not that great. It felt like a barber shop inside, and the table on which I was getting my nails done was covered in a thin film of dirt (which is probably why I have dirt spots in my nail color). One of the women who works there, her phone kept ringing in this obnoxiously loud ringtone that she didn't bother to silence or even decrease the volume. Gotta say, for what I paid, my manicure is completely unacceptable. Now I have to fix the shape myself and figure out how to get my one hand shiny like the other. read more

I've been going to Serenity nails for a few years now and I've always gotten a perfect manicure. I can't count the number of people that I've referred to them and everyone has raved about the manis and pedis they've received . They are extremely clean and very meticulous . I usually have a gel mani but I've also had powder and all sorts of pedis and I've never been disappointed. Everyone is friendly and their prices are very fair. I called them on Sunday morning to see if they did eyebrow waxing. I'm told yes, and I ask if I need to make an appt for that day. I am told walk-ins are welcome. Being new to VA and carless for the time being, I proceed to walk 20 minutes in the sticky and humid heat. When I finally arrive, I am told the person who does eyebrows has left for an indeterminable amount of time and can I return tomorrow. I think this is extremely unprofessional. If I had not called beforehand, that is one story, but seeing that I had, it was inexcusable. I actually wanted to give this 1 star but I didn't want to destroy this businesses ratings, as there are only 5 other reviews at the moment. read more

Best pls e so far to get a Brazilian wax. Went there today and Phuong is so sweet and quick! She's completely understanding and apologizes just about every time she waxes. She even goes back in with tweezers to get the hairs the wax could not. Took about 30 min and was so inexpensive, I just had to give her a $20 tip! Will definitely be a regular client for the wax. read more

Four of us went there today for mani/pedi. Three of us left very satisfied but one of the men was rushed and appeared to be lazy. My friend got a clear coat mani and left with rough edges to her nails. It was overall a good experience but the one bad hurt the group experience. read more

The folks at Serenity are very kind and gentle. Their work is gorgeous and their hours are very good. 9:30 to 7:30. Very accomodating.

I went in with black nails, first time I had painted them ever so it was really poorly done (oops) and I wanted to get them done professionally for the first time so I could know what to aim for (I am a mid 20s guy). I paid for a manicure which is $17, the woman I was with took off my polish and did the trimming part of the manicure - the cuticle, nail, etc. When she finished she did a quick hand massage and said "I'm all done" and told me to go to the front to pay. I was really surprised as I wanted to get them colored but that didn't seem to be on the table. The worst part was there was still so much of the old paint on my nails, and since it was black my nails now just looked disgusting and dirty, I went home and basically did the entire manicure again to get all the paint off. Both my mom and sister said I was probably taken advantage of, a manicure always includes a color. I really do not recommend this place, go somewhere else. read more

Phuong did my gel manicure and did a wonderful job--she was very attentive to details and even did three coats because the color was a bit lighter. She also helped me pick out the color because there were so many choices and I was having a hard time making a decision. I told her I was looking for light or medium pink and she found one that had a matching non-gel polish for my toes. Now onto my feet--Nick did my pedicure and lets just say it had been a while since my last pedicure. Nick worked hard to get my feet in tip-top shape and also did three coats of polish because he wanted to make sure my toe color matched my fingers. He also gave a great foot and calf massage. I don't live in Charlottesville, but you can bet that when I am in town this will be my go-to spot to get my nails did. Prices were good ($30 for gel mani and $25 for pedicure). They also had a lot of regulars/repeat people coming in which I always feel is a good sign for a nail spot. read more

It was so great to find this salon! If you have ever been to CK Nails in Charlottesville, the best staff from there now have their own place on Preston Avenue. They are so welcoming, kind and genuinely interested in their clients. The new massage chairs are incredible, the environment is soothing and immaculately kept. Idk what that guy's name is but he does terrible on my nails. It always seem like he rushes to do mine and he's lazy. I always have to come back a day or two later to get them repainted just cause he decides to be an asshole and rush. I paid 62$ for my nails and feet . My feet , they're just fine but my nails ? just disgusting. not trying to make you guys look bad but only time I'm coming back to you guys is when he gets it together or somebody else does my nails. I am here to tell you this is the very worst nail salon I've ever been to. They shuffled me around to four different people, only one of whom understood some English. HE decided what service I should have in spite of my protestations. My pedicure is sloppy and my nails are some weird shade of pink which you can see through. Awful. read more

The salon is less than a year old. It is fresh and clean. I love the pedicure massage chairs- very relaxing. Phoung and Nick (and all of the staff) are very kind and patient. I've been to many other nail salons in town- most are tacky or dirty. This place is beautiful and consistently does excellent work. My hair salon doesn't do nails and suggested I try here. When I made the appt for a mani/pedi, I asked for late in the day, and let them pick the time within the range I needed. I was on time and said I had an appt, they asked me to please sit and wait- which I was happy to do. After waiting 30 minutes I had not spoken to anyone else and they had still not even taken my name so I decided to leave. I have been here 3 times in the past 6 months and have no interest in going anywhere else. I only get pedicures here (I don't get my fingernails done at all) and they're AMAZING. They massage your calves/feet along with the pedicure which I've never experienced before and totally changes the experience. Ask for Kelly- she gives the best pedicures, especially when it involves the massages. I also get the gel polish on my toes since I like to stretch out my pedicures to about 6 weeks in between and they always look amazing for the entire duration. Will continue to come back and recommend! Only thing I wish is that the lighting was a bit dimmer- it would just complement the whole experience - but isn't taking away from anything :) read more
