I originally started looking for a good mechanic because my mom had just moved to the area and needed help with her 2004 Toyota Camry. We first went to the local Toyota dealer and got hit with an estimate that was literally thousands more than what we ultimately ended up spending at Sharp's Auto Service. That's how I met Danny, who I later learned is one of the owners along with his cousin Oscar. From the beginning, what stood out was how straightforward and reasonable everything felt. The labor rate was fair, the communication was clear, and instead of pushing one expensive path, Danny took the time to explain different options for replacement parts and what made sense financially. I live in Woodland Hills, and Sharp's is in Oxnard, so this was not exactly around the corner for me. But after that first experience, I felt comfortable enough making the trip because it already felt worth it. After that, I came back with my own 2016 Chevy Volt for an A/C issue. Since that car does not have a traditional belt-driven compressor setup, I knew it was going to take more than generic trial-and-error diagnosis. Danny was patient, methodical, and clearly willing to think through a problem instead of just throwing parts at it. The issue ended up getting solved efficiently, which was a huge relief. One other thing that really stuck with me while I was there: multiple people from the neighborhood stopped by just to say hello to the team at Sharp's. That kind of thing says a lot. You can tell this is one of those local businesses that people genuinely trust and feel connected to. It's not always easy to find a shop that feels honest, competent, fair, and genuinely helpful, but that was absolutely my experience here. I left feeling really grateful that we found them. Shops like this are getting harder and harder to find, and I'll be very happy to keep bringing our cars back to Sharp's, even if it means driving out from Woodland Hills. Got my Hyddaulic Contol Unit and my master cylinder for brakes done for my 2014 Ford Edge. I had the original parts in the car so it lasted me 10 years so I knew I needed my brakes done. Cost was about $2000 which is fairly inexpensive as I would of paid double taking it to the Ford dealer. Sharps is well priced, fair and I did not feel I was being ripped off. Oscar was up front and explained to me clearly what I needed done and why, which I understood everything and made my decision. Sharps is also very quick and timely. Only kept the car for 1 day and a half as I understood parts needed to be ordered and the labor it takes to get a job like this finished. Sharps will now be our mechanic for life, so take your autos here as they can be trusted and you don't feel as if their just taking your money. It's by appointment only, so make an appointment and don't expect your car to be fixed that day if you want it done right! Now my dad goes here and daughter goes here for all their auto needs. First you have to know that their strong suit are Japanese cars, especially Toyota and Honda. So when I took in my "new" 2004 Honda Odyssey, that I intend to drive for at least 250,000 miles, I was delighted to find that they're here to support me, and have seen plenty make it to 300K. I really appreciate the honest good service, good guidance, willingness to do the labor, and allow me to save some $ by working with parts I could provide (salvage and online). Would be FIVE star but I've only been once, so far. GREAT customer service. I just moved to town, and my check engine light came on. I had just paid $1000 for a dealership in another city to do the 100,000 mile maintenance, so nothing should have been broken. The dealership said they'd only look at the car for $140 non-refundable payment. A friend recommended this place. Despite working on another car, the mechanic stopped what he was doing and hooked the diagnosis computer to my car. 5 minutes later, I was good to go. He didn't even want to charge me, so I insisted on giving him a tip. The shop is clean and has organized tools on the wall. You can tell they care about their work. Honesty is the best policy ; brought in my parents Toyota Camry ; after taking it to dealership . Very pleased with the outcome at Sharp's. Background :Received a warranty enhancement notice from Toyota advising owners of concerns of excessive engine oil consumption directing owners to take in vehicle for a test ... I took the Camry to Toyota of Oxnard for the test and they advised they were unable to extend the manufacture recommended test a covered service due to what Toyota discovered during their inspection , an oil leak ;it requires repairs before they could extend the test . Toyota Dealership repair estimate :$1061.58 I hear second opinion , price comparison a must. I kept hearing about Sharp's from word of mouth .. Stopped by Sharp's to obtain a Second Opinion . a stress free experience ; Danny @Sharp's inspected the vehicle , under the car , over the engine and their estimate : Zero /No service was necessary , the oil pan leak was oil from a recent oil change. I have found an honest mechanic , a shop that gained my business , they also offered the manufacturer test for free. Now , I am back with my vehicle , knowing they are transparent , and they have a long list of training , their credentials in the automotive mechanical repair field: ASE & Honda & Lexus Certification , and they are a Napa Car Center, wow! vast experience !!' Good mechanics have two important assets... knowledge and honesty. As for Mr. Jim Sharp, check AND check. If he puts in a part and it doesn't do the trick, he takes it out. No charge for work that doesn't solve the problem. 99% of the time he finds the issue and fixes it without a hitch. On the few occasions where I've had a really tough problem to diagnose, Jim's upfront, honest style of business has been the difference between a massive headache and that wonderful feeling of relief you get knowing everything is being taken care of. Jim's been fixing cars a long time and I believe he's winding down a bit now, working 4 days a week instead of 5. He also doesn't work on ALL cars or delve into all car troubles but he will make a good referral. Overall I wouldn't take my car any other place and I would recommend him to anyone. read more

Seriously, I very rarely give 5 starts but these guys deserve it. Had my car towed there on Monday (08/15/16). Ended up being the starter. Paid a great price to have it replaced. The best part was the inspection. Yes, most everyone does a cursory inspection - top off fluids, check belts, tires, etc. but these guys went above and beyond. Because they had to check my battery, they took the time to also clean it and cover it with the goo to prevent the acid from building back up again. Toyota wanted to charge me around $80 to do so. They also saw that I had some oil on the engine so they checked that. Found out it was from a previous leak / oil change. The thing is, I have been smelling an exhaust smell for several months now - heck, maybe a year. So when I took it to Toyota for my regular oil change, they said the smell was coming from a bad engine gasket (head?). I argued with them that the smell was of exhaust, not oil burning. They insisted though that it was due to the oil leak. We went back and forth a few times but I opted not to get the work done. Well, Sharp's let me know that it was actually a weld break in my new(er) catalytic converter and that it might still bee under warranty so I should take it back to the muffler shop. Talk about honest. And Toyota wanted to charge me over $900 for the non-existent oil leak. Geez. Anyway, they are a good value, honest, and go out of their way make sure you and your are happy.
