Stopped by Serious Sanji since I was craving dumplings and they are right near my apartment! It wasn't super busy and the staff were incredibly friendly. We ordered the shanghai soup dumplings and pan fried dumplings! Both were pretty good! The prices are definitely a lot cheaper than other dumpling places I've been. Definitely will be stopping by again to try their other dumplings! They also have other dishes such as noodles and chinese burritos. :-) read more

Take out dumplings at a reasonable price?! Sign me up! They have multiple types of dumplings to choose from and I honestly had a hard time deciding what to order. I went w the shanghai soup dumplings and wontons w chili oil in addition to some crab rangoons. Now I didn't have super high expectations for take-out soup dumplings, and they were pretty much exactly what I was expecting. They were good, flavor was fine, they seemed a little fatty, which I wasn't expecting. The dipping sauce was my favorite part. Now the wontons w chili oil on the other hand were an amazing take-out option that I will be getting again. Pork and shrimp w a spicy chili oil, flavor was great, texture was great. Will be getting again. The crab rangoons were also pretty good. Nice and crispy w a good amount of cream cheese filling. Overall, the food was good and there is a lot on the menu that I will be back to try. Solid Chinese sanji option in the area. We like doing pickup here because it's easy and reliable. Pro tip: get the MINI sanji instead of the regular ones. They come out crispier and are served in a delicious sweet-and-sour sauce with a very subtle kick. The regular sanji itself is well seasoned, but too doughy. The green scallion pancakes were not life-changing, but still good - probably among the better ones I've had in Milwaukee. Other dishes, like the fried rice, are pretty standard American Chinese food. The dim sum feels more pre-made, and the selection is limited anyway. Serious Sanji is inside what appears to be an old Cousins Subs. There is very little in the way of ambiance, but the food was very good especially for the price! We started with the crab Rangoons and the crab mixture was great! We then had the scallion oil noodles which were rather plain but not bad, we didn't get much of the soy sauce flavor. Then, we were very excited to try the Soup Dumplings, and they exceeded our expectations. They were right in line with the ones from Momo Mee downtown. Lastly, we tried the lava coconut balls, they were served super hot and they were a bit messy to eat, but again great flavor. There was lots more we wanted to try so we will be back! read more

Chicken soup dumplings = MUST TRY Chicken fried rice + wings = meh for me 5/5 (for dumplings alone tbh) the rest were like 2/5 First time ever trying soup dumplings and I'm officially obsessed Lowkey hard to eat (bite, sip the soup, try not to burn your tongue, then eat the rest ) but soooo worth it. I have always been surprised to see this spot get such low reviews, as I make sure to visit this restaurant every time I visit WI. It always hits the spot. Being from NY and now residing in CA, I have high expectations for dim sum, but this spot does it right. First off, I think the service is amazing. The servers are always friendly and accommodating. Even when we come in during their break periods, they always make sure we're taken care of. It's the perfect mix between not overbearing and acting like we're invisible. As for the food, the soup dumplings are a must. However, I must rave about their wonton w/ chili sauce. I think we always order 2-3 servings whether dining in or ordering delivery. The texture of the wonton is perfect in tandem with the sauce which has spice and a vinegar-y kick to it. The braised chicken feet has a lot of meat and great texture. When ordering the lotus wraps, you are given three pieces. Sticky rice with pork in the middle is a great complement to the other dim sum dishes on their menu. Lastly, try their boba drinks. Tip: 75% is the right sugar level. It's a cozy spot with a few booths on the side and some bigger tables in the middle. I also love the decor for their lights in the booth seats! You also get to see the kitchen, so that's always a plus. It's located within a plaza, so parking is plentiful. I know I'll be stopping by again whenever I visit Tosa. A++! read more

Serious sanji was sooooo good. We tried quite a few of the dumplings -and other dim sum options. We loved the chicken dumplings and the chili oil wontons. The spring rolls were also great. Overall the food was delicious, the atomosphere was a bit lacking though and the table was a bit sticky. I would highly recommend trying. read more

Interesting concept. The soup dumplings brought me in because they have become popular, and prices vary with the number of dumplings and the setting. Here, it's 6 for $9.95, and at two other places in the greater Milwaukee area, it's 8 for $15. Have had them all, and all are good. This place is a Florida chain with 5 places in FL and one in Wauwatosa. Lots of carryouts, it seems. You can even get Chicken Feet (not legs) if you're interested! First visit tonight. I was greeted and seated almost immediately, and I noticed about a third of the restaurant was full, maybe closer to half, and it was around 7:30. I ordered the Scallion Pancake, Chicken Sanji, and Shanghai Soup Dumplings. The tables already had soy sauce, chili oil, and vinegar on them for condiments. The Scallion Pancake was crisp and delicious, maybe the best I've had in town, and it was served with a side of soy sauce. The Sanji are pan fried dumplings that can be ordered with pork, beef, or chicken filling, and my chicken sanji was good - not great, but good. I expected more savory flavor. The Shanghai Soup Dumplings are filled with pork and broth. I was impressed that the broth did not get completely absorbed into dough. Again, these were good, but I've had better tasting soup dumplings in town. Service was very good, and I saw the robot in action, serving another table. This is an adorable little restaurant! The server informed us right away it was only her 2nd day and she was a bit nervous, but she did wonderful! There were 4 of us and we decided to share a bunch of dishes! We all enjoyed everything but agreed some things lacked the intense flavors we love from Asian meals. The table chili oil needed more flavor and a bigger kick (not spicy at all). The chicken sanji and pan fried dumplings were the tables favorites. I'd skip the shrimp rice roll next time, texture was a bit off. But, everyone LOVED their boba milk teas! Overall a good experience and I would come back to get certain items again! I had passed by a few times and finally decided to order some food to go, and I'm honestly disappointed. I placed an order for takeout and arrived right as they were finishing the order. I ordered most items which were recommended on door dash and everything just had a noticeable lack of flavor, and the Dan Dan noodles especially were just bland. The booths were not evenly spaced, so it was VERY tight for us to sit and felt very congested. The soup dumplings had a lot of flavor, but the dumpling stuck often causing the soup to leak out. The cucumbers didn't have any onions as pictured and could have been more crisp. The scallion pancakes were very standard. The noodles needed a little more flavor and the chili oil provided was bland. HOWEVER... those chicken wings and the beef sanji were 10/10 and I'd go back just for that alone. I was really looking forward to trying this place and was really disappointed. The dishes weren't as authentic as I was hoping they would be. We got the soup dumplings, beef Sanji, pork potstickers and a few boba drinks. The soup dumplings arrived deflated and dry. The beef sanji was decent, the outer layer was rather think and filling was bland. Our pork potstickers seemed to have been forgotten and arrived 20-30 minutes after we ordered it. The drinks were all good. Our server was very nice and helpful. She joked around with us and offered suggestions as well as check on us as often as she could. The ambiance was okay. They had a cute little statue of the mascot in front but everything else was meh. The restaurant just opened, so I'm hoping they will make some improvements! read more

I usually don't review restaurants, but after seeing the reviews at the time of my visit I felt compelled to write one. For a chinese place in the middle of Wauwatosa, WI, this place is great. I am from southern california and this resaurant could easily compete there. The flavors are good and the prices are reasonable, plus the portions are pretty big. A lot of reviews are really against the service, but the service isn't bad - it's just Asian. If you just call over to them they will get to you. Ambiance is exactly what you would expect from a chinese restaurant that is focused more on the food than the appearance: slightly worn booths and chairs, chinese music in the background, etc. This place is definitely a good place for chinese food in an area where good chinese food is hard to find. At the time of my review, this place has 3.8 stars on yelp - it deserves closer to 4.5. read more

Ordered lunch to go. I was super excited to try this place. I ordered the friend chicken and pork and green onion dumplings. The presentation of the to go boxes is so cute. When I opened the fried chicken box, it smelled delicious. And it had a good crunch. Until I bit into it. The chicken was bloody, not done, in fact, all 4 pieces were bloody. What a disappointing. The dumplings were good though, so they kind of made up for the bloody undone chicken. I did call the restaurant and they gave me a credit for next time. I have been going to this restaurant since they have opened and had high hopes for it. This once busy restaurant has slowed down and I can see why. The menu is the same, and I still enjoy the menu items, but they have let this restaurant go. A restaurant should understand that you can have a good product but the cleanliness is important. On our visit before last, on the way out, my husband even told the person at the register that the glass window and doors should be cleaned. It is your first impression of a restaurant. At that time the person agreed, probably just brushing us off. On our last visit, Friday, Oct 3,25, there were about 5 tables of guest throughout our visit. I immediately noticed that house keeping had fitting worst. After dinner I ran to the restroom and noticed that the room behind the soda machine was flooded, with items on the ground and the kitchen floor was filthy. This is enough to turn me off. If you don't care about the appearance, you don't care about the quality of the food or the manner that you preserve your food. Clean up your act- you had a good thing going. When you walk into a dirty restaurant it gives the customer a lot to worry about. There is no reason for this to happen. read more

I'm loving it! We stopped in a few weeks ago and, at 2pm on a Saturday, this place was bustling! I expecting to be able to walk right in but it was more like 20 minute wait. Today we were seated immediately. So, hit and miss with the customer traffic, but the food is worth a wait. It's also larger inside than it looks. There's quite a few tables and booths for seating. I'm a huge soup dumpling fan so having a location closer to home that offers this delicious entree is such a treat. The crab and pork dumplings are great. I highly recommended them as a hearty dish. The Shanghai version is lighter but still delicious. I prefer them, but have enjoyed both. The pork buns were ok, but didn't have a lot of flavor, even a little salt would have made a difference. I preferred the duck buns, as they have a more well rounded flavor. The buns themselves were soft and a little chewy. Just how I like! The custard buns were also pretty good. Not too sweet. The vegetable spring rolls are on par with any I've had before. They paired well with the sweet chili sauce. I was not a huge fan of the pork Sanji. For me, the flavor was definitely there, but I personally don't like the mouthfeel of thicker dumpling wrappers. If that doesn't bother you I would recommend trying all of them! I'm not sure why, but they didn't have Chinese soup spoons today. That is a real shame because they work so much better for enjoying soup dumplings. I hope they will keep using them the future. A nice, quick, and informal spot to grab soup dumplings and sanji! I have been coming here for some time now, and each visit has been enjoyable. The best items have been the crabmeat & pork soup dumplings, pork sanji, cucumber salad, and dan dan noodles. Others items, such as the dim sum and other appetizers, have been, at best, okay. I have not tried the boba tea, so I cannot comment on that. Other things to consider: The staff are polite and attentive. The space is no-frills, except for a cute figure of a dumpling mascot in a business suit. Will come back for sure! read more

I was hoping for some authentic dumplings/dim sum and was very excited by Serious Sanji's menu. It's overall a decent spot for a variety of dishes but some missed the mark for me. Best part of our meal was the soup dumplings -- would recommend these! Also enjoyed the sesame balls which are mini sized here and easier to eat than the regular full sized ones. I was not a fan of the pan fried pork dumplings (sanji) and felt the texture of the dough just wasn't right. Also tried the splash oil noodles and was very disappointed, was hoping for some spice but it was a strange sweet flavor. Neither of these dishes felt authentic to me. However, I would come back for the soup dumplings and to try other items on their menu. I love the ambiance of the place and that you can see kitchen staff workers making all the dumplings. Staff were very friendly and service was quick. They were busy on the Saturday morning that we went, but sat us down quicker than initially estimated. First visit. Open kitchen you can see the chefs are cooking your foods. Nice and clean dining room that you can tell it's a new restaurant. Food: we order Crabmeat soup steamed dumplings, beef Chinese burritos, beef pan fried dumplings and beef sanji. Before the visit i go through all the reviews and comments saying most of the items are lacking in flavor. The chili oil on the table is horrible! Not spicy at all yet no flavor at all!!! just like you put a lot of plan oil on your dumplings...And the soup dumplings are gamy. and i think they're well known for their soup dumplings? Save your money go to trader joe's frozen chicken soup dumplings. Going to the service. The time that I visited was a Saturday afternoon around 2:00 they're still have some big groups of people came in and they only have 3 servers so i can understand they might be a little overwhelmed. didn't check back how is very thing going And i ordered 2 drinks they got messed up. Both of them I ordered less ice and 100% sugars it came out less Sugar 100% ice. At the end of the meal i told the staff what they messed up my drink and they did offer me to make me a new drinks but we kind of in a hurry to leave so I don't want to wait another 15mins. Walked in during the start of a snowstorm to bring home food for the family for our first visit. All the staff were friendly and helpful, even offering a recommendation for which sanji to get when I was not sure what kind I wanted. Tried a little of most of the staples and even after a 15-20 minute car ride home in the snow--not a thing was below expectations. Certainly delicious, and all well made, nothing seemed like it started as frozen. And while I can't say it's the best dumplings I've ever had, the combination of solid delivery on flavor, freshly made to order food, and wide selection made the whole thing really really good. Tried Serious Sanji on a Monday evening recently. This is a new dumpling and dim sum restaurant in the Milwaukee area, they have several outlets in Florida. The restaurant was located in a strip mall on Hwy 100 in Wauwatosa. Formally a Dr. Dawg establishment, the place has been nicely refreshed and has a light Asian motif. It appeared to seat between 50-75 patrons and was about half full on the evening of my visit around 6pm. I was seated promptly and service was quick. Water was provide along with a small plate with fork, spoon, chopsticks and a napkin. The menu had a variety of dishes, most moderately priced. I opted for an appetizer of crispy chicken, shrimp fried rice, pan fried pork dumplings and a soda. All the servings were fresh, hot and arrived quickly, however the appetizer arrived last instead of first. The crispy chicken was crispy but didn't have much flavor, a dipping sauce (unnamed) helped, but there was something off about the texture of the meat. Not sure what part of the chicken I was eating, just little pieces that had been fried. Probably wouldn't get that again. The shrimp fried rice was ok but lacked a lot of the ingredients you expect to find in that dish, like carrots, peas, eggs, etc. Every Asian place makes this differently, this one had a good amount of shrimp and bean sprouts. The shrimp was either canned or the white shrimp variety that don't offer a lot of flavor. It was an ok dish but not memorable. Last I had the pork pan fried dumplings. I enjoyed these, they were well filled and had been nicely fried. Again an unnamed dipping sauce was provided. All the dishes were of good size, allowing me to take enough home for a second meal. Service was good, refills were provided without my need to ask for one. While not the friendliest service I've ever experienced, the waiter seemed more shy than unfriendly. The bill came to about $40 with tip, which would have seemed a bit expensive if it hadn't been for the portion sizes. I would revisit this place to try some of their other dishes. read more

Nondescript cafe in strip mall. No effort made to improve the "McDonalds-like" ambiance of the inside. We ordered dumplings and springs rolls and ate family style, so I can't speak for the rice or noodle dishes. In fact, we were told that the hibachi-style entrees were not available, the night we visited. The dumplings and rolls were nothing special. In fact, they taste exactly like the frozen dumplings that I purchase from H Mart in Illinois or the Pacific Oriental market in Milwaukee. It was bland and ordinary. The strawberry milk was bland and unsweetened. The milk started separating 5 minutes after we received the drink. The only good thing about the visit, were the staff. They were all bubbly and enthusiastic. We probably won't return, cheaper to eat the frozen stuff. read more
