When I'm in New Berlin at lunch time, I often stop at New China and have always been pleased with the flavors of my meal, the promptness of food prep and friendliness of the counter person. There are several lunch deals that include an egg roll and either white or chicken fried rice, and the fried rice is always hot off the line and very tasty. I've especially liked the shrimp with garlic sauce, kung pao shrimp, General Tso's chicken, and the shrimp egg foo young. Most of the business is takeout, but seating is available. My only negative is that the restaurant is cluttered, but not dirty that I've seen. read more

Eggrolls were very good - light breading, not greasy. Main dish, however, though good was heated unevenly with cold spots vs hot. Reminded me of a reheated microwave meal. Definitely not a $25 meal. Service was quick and attentive, pleasant hostess. I'm guessing this "restaurant" does primarily take out business. The ambiance is that of sitting in a stockroom - boxes stacked in several corners and feels overall not real clean though I can't say it's dirty. Bathroom is closed to the public. I have tried to get over here several times and failed because the yelp hours don't match the business or my schedule didn't work out but today I finally made it over and got in the place. The posted pictures from previous yelpers don't match the place at all so I was confused, was I in the right place so I had to double check on the map where I was so I didn't post all wrong info, don't know what's going on there. Once again the place is empty and the phones are going crazy, has Chinese food morphed into take out and delivery only for most part because this is looking like the norm now. The place was clean and nicer looking with nicer dark wood chairs and tables with tile floors. There is a buffet along the wall which was inactive for dinner. The people were very nice and wrote/spoke in there language and understood English equally, she wrote my order in beautiful Asian symbol looking style writing which was noticed. I had the General Taos chicken dinner combo with chicken fried rice and egg roll, I like a sampling with new places. The chicken fried rice was not the nothing in it kind combo crap because it had white meat chicken, onions, peas, carrots, scrambled eggs which was not totally bland. The General Taos chicken was white meat and tasty but not much heat really. The egg roll was not the crappy small kind but not the big kind, it was tasty and better than average. Overall it was not bad and better than average but it didn't replace my favorite Chinese place, which I drove past in any way but it was not the super average combo crap that I have had from some places. I would definitely try some more of the menu like the Singapore rice noodle, I love that dish. read more

This is clearly a take out oriented place. I ordered takeout chicken lo mein - ready in 5-10 minutes! The inside is very cluttered and doesn't appear terribly clean but the service was prompt and they were friendly. The food was so-so - they put an overabundance of sauce on my meal. I'm glad I got the white rice as my side or else it wouldn't have gotten soaked up. Still, for $7 I got a meal, side of rice and an egg roll. This wouldn't be my first choice but its serviceable. read more

This restaurant has been around for a long time, and in that time, they have always been very good. I used to work around this area and this was always something that our area went to normally twice a week. It was a favorite of ours. The workers there have always been so very friendly and they always seem to know their customers. In time, they can call that person's order and what they like. So that tells me a lot... A lot of repeat customers. I normally get their L16. It is their hot and spicy beef or shrimp. But what I do is I change it up to the chicken and they have never had a issue with changing it up for me. It is such a great dish to me. I get it everytime I go. They do it right. So if you are looking for good Chinese food, you can not go wrong with this place. Give it a try. Good food. Good service. Friendly and fast. Since moving to New Berlin, New China has been my go to Chinese takeout spot. It's conveniently close, my order is always correct and the staff is fairly personable for a Chinese takeout restaurant. I always get the general tso chicken platter while my boyfriend gets the szechuan beef platter, and we have never been disappointed. The price is a little more than I'm used to spending at other Chinese food places, especially with the dollar up-charge for pork fried rice, but I don't mind too much with guaranteed quality of food. read more

I have never actually been inside New China; I have only ordered for delivery, but I've never had a bad experience. I always order the shrimp with mixed vegetables (#73). Also, I really love the vegetable fried rice-- it's really good because it has bok choy, snow peas, and broccoli, in addition to the expected tiny chunks of carrot and onion that you get in fried rice everywhere else. The appetizers are hit or miss-- I've had the shrimp toast a couple of times, but the last time it wasn't so great. Also, the dumplings are a bit chewy and weird. However, the crab rangoon is delish and the BF loves the boneless spare ribs. The special combination plates are a great deal (C 1-21)-- they include a giant eggroll, but they come with pork fried rice so I don't order them. I just don't do the pork fried rice thing. But you should, if you like. Like I said, I've only ordered delivery, and they are fast! Plus, some of their items come in the terrific plastic reusable (and dishwasher safe on the top rack) containers that I generally have only seen Japanese places use for take-out. They're terrific to have around to send leftovers home with friends after a dinner party or to bring your lunch to work. read more

This was the first Chinese restaurant we've tried since we moved to Wisconsin from California and surprising it was REALLLLY good! It's definitely comparable with the Chinese food in the San Francisco bay area. The owner of this place was really nice. He knew we just moved from out of the state so he gave us some tips about the area. One downside about this place is the price. It's a little bit on the expensive side for Chinese food especially in Wisconsin. We ordered 2 rice plates and it was around $20; usually you can get 3 dishes with this price. read more

Floor was slippery to the point that my husband and I almost slipped a few times, just getting up from our table. Slightly better than average take out, but NOT a place to dine in. Chicken, seafood, and veggie dishes are generally the best prepared. Pork & beef are fatty and chewy. The egg foo young is horrible, egg rolls are ok, soups are ok, crab Rangoon is not good, dumplings (fried & steamed) are ok, fried rice is not good, lo mein is not good. Wheelchair accessible. Surprisingly good for a little strip-mall place! Geared toward takeout (though there are a few tables if you're stopping by on a lunch break), but that is fine for us. They are pretty quick and the food is good. (And I like that it is Not a buffet place --- the food is made when you order it, not just scooped up...). I supposed the sweet-and-sour sauce is nothing to shout about, but it's fine, and the chicken is quite good. We also like the noodles and fried rice --- and the vegetables in those are decent enough that my kids will even eat them... Ordering online does get a you a free item or discount, but if you phone in an order there are usually equivalent coupons in the store. read more

New China for many years was my favorite Chinese place. After my latest experience, I'm calling it quits for the first time ever on a restaurant. My last 4 experiences have been terrible. Everything from 80+ minute deliveries, cold yet burned food, chicken that is slimey and very chewy making me gag, and yes, a fly being sauteed in my orange chicken sauce after I had 6 or 7 bites. I'd hate to bash New China because they were once the best Chinese place I've ever eaten at, but they've gone from first to worst... We have been coming here for years, and have done mostly take out/delivery. Even for a time that they stopped delivering we tried other places that did deliver. Always found ourselves comparing to here. And we just love everything so much. I can't say I have tried everything on the menu, but we have tried a lot, and it's great! Love..LOVE the crab Rangoon. Dumplings..just wow! Filled to the max. Steamed or fried. Love the sauce. Their House Lo Mein = amazing. General Tso Chicken..and the shrimp. Large shrimp too. Check their specials, and don't be afraid to ask if they have them. I like to ask for a little spicy and it's perfect. Not crazy, but just the right kick! The other night ordered some take out and when I got home, was nicely surprised to find some Crab Rangoon added to my order.
