With Elisa you will notice a response almost immediately, if not within hours of presenting for sure the next day. She is the best manager experience I've ever lived under wish I could take her with me if and when I'm ready for relocate. Never have I had a manager take the time to call and give me updates if the schedule she promises doesn't go as planned. Carla is always prompt and professional when responding to any of my requests or concerns. You can tell she takes pride in her job and really cares about the residents living here. She is truly one of the main reasons why I have lived here for so long. Maintenance team is also top tier. David is amazing at servicing any issues or repairs. He truly works hard and provides the best customer service. My stove recently needed to be replaced and the process was seamless! Within a few days I had a brand new and beautiful replacement. Parking is great, the laundry room is always maintained and clean! The landscaping is unlike any other! It feels like a tropical getaway. Inside the apartments there's spacious storage and lots of natural light. I love living here because of the affordable rent prices and I don't see myself leaving anytime soon!

During the 10 months I lived here, I had my gas siphoned, a SWAT team break down a neighbor's door during a hostage situation, and another neighboring unit where a drug-addicted couple had frequent violent altercations. The situation became so bad that I had to call the police over a dozen times during my short time living there. The most frustrating part is that management has received complaints about these issues for years. They will tell you they care and that they are addressing the situation, but nothing actually changes. The responses often feel dismissive and unhelpful. What ultimately pushed me to write this review, however, was how my move-out was handled. Although I moved out before my lease ended, I made every effort to leave the apartment in excellent condition. I had the unit professionally cleaned, including the carpets, and had all holes patched and painted. After the pre-move-out inspection, I even provided management with the invoices for these services. Despite this, I was still charged nearly $500 in additional cleaning and painting fees. I was also charged an incorrect $450 rent balance, even though management had previously confirmed that I had paid the remaining rent and utilities owed. Even after explaining this and providing documentation, they still refused to return my full security deposit. Overall, the experience was extremely disappointing. For the price you pay to live here, there are far better and better-managed options in the area. I strongly encourage prospective renters to carefully consider other properties before signing a lease here.

Negatives: The townhouse had noise from the El Camino Real road louder than I would have imagined. It was very hot in summer. Several degrees hotter than the outside temp. Part of the issue was that the oven leaked heat. The dishwaster leaked and cause water damage. I was told they were prone to do this. This cost me circa $1k in move out costs (after renters insurance reimbursement) while they repaired the damage. Apparently the water damage was my fault for not noticing it sooner. The washing machine never worked properly but we didnt complain. More fool me. Close to my townhouse there was a car parked with pro palestinian statements in its windows ("Israel is a terrorist state" etc and anti-american statements). FYI 1st amendment is not relevant to a complex like Ascend. I had to see that every day for the 15 months i was there. When a resident was murdered in a car jacking in the parking lot in August, the office sent a note saying that residents might have noticed a commotion the previous night but that the incident had been sorted. When we originally moved into this 2 bedroom unit (we transferred from one of the 1bedrooms here that cost us $1400 at the time) we were paying $1660. However, NOW for this same unit we're being charged $2200 a month. Here's a comprehensive list of things that have been improved to justify the rent increase: - Nothing. I hope this list has been helpful, they're just cashing in as Escondido gentrifies without actually putting any work into the units themselves. You will be paying 2023 prices for 1960's apartments, here is a list of things that you WILL be paying for while you're here. - No in unit washer/dryer - No dishwasher - No central AC, it gets hotter than Florida in the units during the summer and the AC units are only in the living room. - No central heat, it's forced air with gas from the city and the heating units themselves are JANKY and regularly require intervention from maintenance - Teens and homeless people wandering the grounds regularly to drink and do drugs or use amenities meant for paying tenants or tag the property - Not gated, its only gated on one side to "prevent foot traffic" which it does not - HORRIBLE sound transfer between units, you WILL be hearing your neighbors and their water pipes, when they're working of course - REGULAR WATER SHUTOFFS. I have no idea why this one happens, I just know that it happens a lot. - If you want an extra parking space that's gonna run you an extra $75 a month, they originally came with the 2 bedrooms but due to a "clerical error" (a complete lie by the way, I've confirmed it with other 2 bedroom tenants) they now charge for them. - If you have pets they'll cost you an extra $50 a month - You pay a $10 maintenance fee - You pay for not just your own water, but everyone in your building's water as well, you could leave for a month long vacation and STILL have a high water bill when you get back. So thats it, it's all corporate greed, REMM Group wants to charge you and do nothing for your cash, you will pay way too much for way too little, we'd move if we had the money for it. Please, if you can, try and go somewhere else before you get stuck here like we are. I've attached some photos to describe some of the issues I'm talking about.

There is one very unpleasant and unhygienic issue here. Some residents do not clean up after their dogs, especially in the dog park, which is heavily littered with dog waste. Every time we bring our dog here, we have to clean up at least 7-10 piles of feces to prevent our dog from stepping in it and bringing it home, even though I always clean their paws after going outside. This situation has made me no longer want to visit the dog park, as it is dirty and foul-smelling, and most importantly, I constantly have to clean up after others. This dog park is no longer a place for dogs to run and play, but has instead become a dumping ground for dog waste. I hope the building owner can take steps to ensure that residents take responsibility for cleaning up after their dogs, so the dog park can remain clean and enjoyable. This park was an important reason why we decided to move here eight years ago. However, since moving in, I have often found myself cleaning up dog waste left by other people, both on the lawn in front of our home and in the dog park. Living here has been an absolute nightmare -- from dangerous health conditions to a complete lack of professionalism from management. Here's the reality: Safety concerns Mold and Unsafe Living Conditions We discovered mold in the unit, which is a serious health hazard, especially when ignored by management. Despite timely report, we've been met with blaming being put on us and stating that we caused it even though we just moved in and it was found due to a leaking AC. That yet again we were attempt to be blamed for. No apologies for the health issues it caused or even attempt to make situation right. Trash Everywhere / Parking Lot is a Dump The parking lot is disgusting. Overflowing trash bins, garbage littered across the grounds, and no enforcement of parking policies. Residents park wherever they want -- sidewalks, red zones, blocking garages -- and management does nothing. Meanwhile, we follow every rule and still can't get basic courtesy in return. Unresponsive and Incompetent Management We've called, emailed, texted, and even visited the office in person -- only to be ignored for days or even weeks. Voicemails go unanswered, and no one is ever around during posted office hours. When you do get a response, it's a copy-paste excuse, with no actual resolution or accountability. We were told an inspection was happening so we had to be home, instead they turned the water off and forgot to update us. Pest Infestations Ignored We reported a nest above our front door -- nothing was done. Just like everything else here, they blame "Wi-Fi issues" or "construction," but the truth is: they don't care. Selective Enforcement & Favoritism Certain tenants get special treatment (e.g., more parking passes than the limit), while the rest of us are put on waitlists or forced to pay extra for parking spot. This favoritism is clear and completely unfair. Noise Complaints = Useless We've submitted seven noise complaints about the neighbors next door -- nothing was done. They party constantly. Bass so loud it makes our walls shake and paintings move. We showed video proof, and management still dismissed us. We're business owners working from home, and this has disrupted client calls and our daily work. Instead of helping, they made it worse by telling those tenants exactly who reported them -- resulting in us being stared down and harassed in our own home. This has now become a personal safety concern, especially for my partner, who no longer feels safe in the parking lot. Lies and Broken Promises from Day One On move-in day, we were promised repairs that never happened. They even asked us to write a positive review on the spot -- that should have been the first red flag. Since then, we've been treated like we're the problem, when all we've asked for is basic communication and safety. Bottom line: This place is gross, mismanaged, and downright dangerous. If you value your health, safety, and sanity -- look elsewhere. Do not let their "tour day charm" fool you. What you'll get is silence, trash, mold, and a management team that gaslights you for complaining.
