The service department you can't trust. one week i go in and my inspection was good then i had to go in the next following week, all sudden everything is red. Within one week doesn't make since- this is my last straw with this company I go in to have service done to my truck and they have over filled my tires and it popped but don't worry the new manger said it's not his problem because at first he said they didn't fill my tires, they did they do every time I have service. after correcting him he then said they filled it to 35. Alex from the financial department is condescending at best. He spoke down to us, questioned our decision not to move forward with extended warranty in the most disrespectful way. They do not accept private pre approvals, so a check was needing to be sent from the bank. Great! His job was to get the paperwork completed and sent, he was taken back when pressure for the sale was question as he was not doing what he needed to get the check. He got smart and said it was the banks fault, no buddy we gave you the time limit, due to Serra not accepting private loan. He was instructed on what to send and still sent the wrong information. At the end when questioned if he could not get his portion done, were we able to terminate purchasing the car. He got smart and said "you already committed to the car, right?" Yes, however if you cannot do your job and are treating your client like they are just a paycheck, we can find another care elsewhere. Would NOT recommend working with Alex M from Serra. read more

On May 4, 2023, I had scheduled a 10:30 AM appointment with the Serra Honda Service Department, 951 Interstate Pkwy., Akron, OH 44312. At the time of our arrival (10:20), the odometer on my 2018 CRV read 10,023 miles. This is a classic "senior citizen" vehicle, with limited mileage, and regular care provided by a local licensed mechanic. My appointment was to address a seatbelt recall issue and an air conditioner check (covered by my extended warrantee). While there, I scheduled an oil change as well. The total charges should not have exceeded $60. The service agent, Josh, took control of our appointment, and we waited for 90 minutes for any information. Initially, we were told that the service would take about 2 hours. When Josh finally emerged, he presented a list of recommended repairs totally over $1100! These included a front-end alignment, replacing the brake fluid, a brake "maintenance" service, and an air filter change - on a car with barely 10k miles! He presented each issue as if it were a serious matter, and I finally agreed to the "brake maintenance" portion - which I have since learned was not even a legitimate concern. When I balked at the cost, he claimed to "save" me the cost of the air conditioner seal repair - which, of course, was covered by my warrantee. Josh indicated that the work would require an additional 2 hours, and offered to transport us to a neighborhood restaurant. He declined our request for his cell phone number, and told us to call Serra for our return trip. We agreed, were delivered by a driver, had our lunch, and attempted to call for a return trip. No one was available to answer the Service phones. Abandoned, and waiting for 20 minutes to have our voicemail message return, my caregiver and I WALKED back to the service center. I am 81, and on a cane. There are no sidewalks, so we had to walk in the street. Upon our arrival, now about 2 PM, we were informed that the car was still not ready. Josh offered a loaner, or we could wait another 2 hours when the service might be completed. We opted for the loaned car, and a SECOND trip to Serra the next day. Josh finally called at 5:30 PM to report that the car was finished, and that the charges were $207. A full SEVEN HOURS later, rather than the two initially promised. This blatant disregard for our time and patronage was both disrespectful and inconsiderate. This experience represents the WORST POSSIBLE customer service. Whether a case of gender bias, senior citizen exploitation, or standard operating procedure, this is clear evidence that the poor reputation for service at an auto dealership is well deserved. Having purchased the CRV here, we thought the positive buying experience would carry over to the service department. This was sadly not the case. I will NEVER recommend that any one have their vehicle serviced at Serra, nor even consider buying one at this dealership. As a footnote, the federal statute related to elder abuse includes language related to financial exploitation that, if a pattern is found to be in evidence, raises unethical behavior like Serra's to a criminal level. Serra Honda had my car for a whole week and I authorized them to put new tires on, tire alignment, a new windshield, new wipers, and a new fuel pump. There was zero communication to keep me updated. When I picked up my car I went to try the new wipers and my old wipers screeched on the brand new windshield! They didn't tell me that those parts were not available. With it being Certified car I thought I was buying a great car, that met Honda of America's strict guidelines 4 days later I find out all four tires are bad. How did this car even pass certification? So be-careful, just because the car says certified pre-owned on it doesn't really matter unless you pay extra for a Certified Warranty, doesn't matter if it says a certified on he car or not. Look at the picture and tell me, what you think Certified Pre-Owned means? Originally had them replace the transmission and radiator and do a flush on my 2001 Honda Civic. They seem to have done that job fine except for they didn't catch a hole in the coolant line going from the engine to the water pump and it burst 4 days later. I had it towed back to them since the line that burst had to do with the system they had just flushed. They ended up repairing it for free, but not before trying to get me to put a new engine in the car for another $3600.00. They tried to tell us this car had been wrecked, which supposedly caused the mechanism the hood latches into to not be holding on the body like it was supposed to, but we had no issues with it before we took it into them the 2nd time. There are no evident signs of previous wreck damage anywhere on the car. I change my own oil every 3,000 miles and I know my car and all its little kinks. When they put some large washer on the one side of the mechanism supposedly to hold it in place, the cable came unattached from where its supposed to sit, causing us to not be able to open the hood. We had to force the hood up, with the mechanism still attached to the hood latch in order to open it. Luckily, we're resourceful and can fix this ourselves. But the point is, we shouldn't have too. Two stars because the work they did do seems satisfactory - but you shouldn't be damaging other parts of the car while doing it. Never take your older Honda to Park Honda for service. read more

The finance service manager we worked with told us that when purchasing our van we were only allowed to finance through the dealership because it was a Certified Preowned vehicle. We had been pre-approved through our bank with my husband's credit score of 809 and received an excellent loan rate through PNC Bank. Upon telling the finance manager that we wanted to finance through PNC Bank he said it was company policy for Certified preowned vehicles and we didn't have the option to finance elsewhere as long as we were purchasing that vehicle. We didn't know better, so we reluctantly agreed to the loan he offered us with a higher loan rate. I then asked if there was a penalty for refinancing with PNC Bank once we leave, he said that we can refinance in 3 months, but we had to make 3 payments before refinancing. Again, we thought this was the truth and trusted what he was telling us and accepted that we would have to wait 3 months to refinance. A few weeks later we talked to a finance manager at another dealership and he informed us that what the finance manager told us was illegal and very bad business practice. I then called the finance manager to confirm this and told him we were in the parking lot of our bank getting ready to walk in to refinance and he still tried to tell me that we needed to make 3 payments before refinancing. After much arguing and finally saying that I thought what he was saying was illegal, he got very rude and angry, saying "fine go pay it off, I don't care". I asked him if we had signed a contract or any legal document making us obligated to wait three months, after some beating around the bush he eventually said "no, but you gave me your word that you would". He also tried to tell me that if I went and refinanced that he was going to bill me the refinancing charge. I asked how he was going to legally do that and he began talking in circles and finally kept saying "you gave your word to make three payments". We never "gave our word" to make three payments on a much higher rate loan for three months, no one would ever do that or agree to that "out of good faith". It's ridiculous. When we went in to refinance with our bank my husband's credit score was slightly lower due to the new loan (the one financed through Honda) on his report. The bank confirmed that what the finance manager at Serra Honda had told us was wrong and illegal and PNC was able to finance the vehicle with a lower rate as expected. However, because my husband now had this new vehicle loan on his credit report his credit score was slightly lower than it had been when PNC had originally quoted us. The 2018 Honda Odyssey Touring we purchase was listed at the best price we'd seen by thousands of dollars compared to everywhere else. Plus we had driven two hours to get it and had a fussy 6 month old with us. They knew how bad we wanted the vehicle and manipulated and lied to us to close the deal. I wish I had been more knowledgeable about the legality of the finance end of car sales before going into it, but as a consumer you expect to be treated fairly and honestly. I also expected the finance manager to apologize and admit his wrong doing when I confronted him about it on the phone, instead he continued to lie and stand by what he said for the majority of the conversation until becoming rude and unpleasant. I'm disgusted that a company would choose to operate this way and be so blatantly illegal in their practices. I have officially reported this to the Department of Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau as well. **The salesman, Ron, was an outstanding guy- very nice, easy to talk to and customer service was on point from him. From beginning to end (I had spoken to him for a couple days via email/call/text before driving up to get the vehicle) he was nothing but honest, helpful and kind. I wish him all the best, he gets FIVE STARS. It's a shame that the finance manager ruined the experience. read more

So I moved to the area with a Honda Civic and was trying to determine where to get it serviced. Based on reviews, I decided to give Park Honda a chance. They are friendly, efficient and best of all not trying to push changes that are not needed. I know enough about cars to change sparkplugs, oil, air filters, etc., so when I get the your air filter is dirty and I had changed it 2 mo. previous, there is a problem. No such issues with Park Honda service. The prices are competitive with the discount chains, but without some of the other headaches. They are generally able to get me scheduled the next day and can usually even accommodate the same day for service. I've used Park Honda about 6 times for service and have had no issues. read more

I've had some major problems with my 2014 EX-L CVT Accord. It does have almost 50,000 miles but so far I've had to have the CVT belt replaced, fuel lines changed, and an O-ring replacement that was all done in July! And found during an oil change. I told them I thought something was going wrong with the front strut, or the heat shield was loose or something, but nope, all of that was wrong! Then my car drove really good I was out of town in New Philadelphia just a few weeks ago, and the steering wheel locked. It was weird that never happened before! So I have push button start I restarted and it was fine, I made it home but it drove rough. Then two days later it happened again! Locked! This time it wouldn't unlock! I was trying to leave for work, I called Park, they said call the "road side assistance" to have it towed in. They took it from there! They called me as soon as they figured out was wrong with my car which actually took a day. I would've liked to have been notified when my car arrived, but nobody is perfect. I found out that my EPS that Electronic Power Steering box crashed and they had to order the part for it. It drove like a new car when i got it back! I'm just worried about if anything else goes bad on it! I buy Hondas for reliability... I've never had one that has had this much work on it!!! I'm glad Park can fix it though! I went into Serra to have routine items done before my warranty ran out. What I got was an overtightened air filter and an attempt to extort hundreds of dollars from me. If you do any work on your vehicle, you do not want to come here. They did a "110 point inspection" and pulled my air filter out and said I needed a new one. They were right, but at double what it would cost me to replace it myself, I declined the replacement. A couple weeks later when I went to replace it, I found the screws were overtightened on an air filter cover (no need for this item to be extra tight) so much I almost stripped the Phillips head trying to get the cover screws loose. A special wrench finally did the trick, but I should not have had to deal with that and I suspect the mechanic was trying to give me payback for not buying their over-priced filter. Not only that, but a week later, I took my CRV back for a warranty issue. Not only did they refuse to fix it, they said I would need to pay at least $200 in labor to start, and probably more, b/c Serra had "discovered" fluid leakage all over one side of my engine compartment that could cause major engine problems right away if I didn't get it fixed. They pointed to the carfax that listed a front-end accident as being the likely cause of the problem. What they failed to notice was that the accident had occurred 20,000 miles ago and been repaired and driving fine since. They also had no explanation for why this horrible fluid leakage problem that needed immediate repair was not noticed the week before during their 110 point inspection. It was not noticed until I wanted them to fix something under warranty. Serra has expanded in recent years for a reason. They obviously pad their bottom line by getting people to pay for unnecessary repairs, or even stooping to over-tightening simple maintenance compartments. Take my advice, go to a reputable car repair place. This place is all about generating profits. (Did I mention that I they also tried to sell me an extended warranty while i was there? NEVER buy extended warranties. That is not my solo opinion, it is the opinion of Consumer Reports and every consumer site you can find. Put that same money in the bank and save it for repairs and you will much further ahead. Be an educated consumer). read more
