After speaking with the dispatcher again, she said she would send another cab to the correct address. The second dispatcher (on the 4th call) said, no calls reflected this address or caller. I just watched one of their drivers drop off my neighbor and proceed to walk up to my flower planter and urinate in it. This was in broad daylight in front of multiple homes. I was walking directly behind him and caught him in the act, called him on it and he raced off. I immediately called their office to speak to a manager and I was told he was gone for the day. I asked for the manager's name and the dispatcher said she only knew it was "Jamal" and didn't know the last name (she said she was only directed to call him by his first name). Yeah, right. I'm visiting a family member at the hospital and this cab driver is driving way too fast in the parking lot and slams on his breaks because he almost hits me and this old lady. Driver does not care he goes around us and runs the red light tires screeching. The poor old lady was so frazzled I helped to her to the ER. She couldn't breath and said her chest hurt. If something happens to the woman...we will go to the news studios (I have friends there) and we will put the driver on blast and sue the shit out of the driver and this company. Just wow. A live human picked up and scheduled a cab to arrive in ten minutes. And it arrived ON TIME. wow. Because my doorbell doesn't work, they even called to let me know the cab was outside. If you're on a tight schedule, I suggest walking or taking the bus before calling this company. I can't complain about the drivers because they are efficient and speedy. I do have major concerns about their dispatcher (whoever the lady is who works on Sundays). I called for a taxi to pick me up from home at 8am. At 8:30am I called the company asking where and how long it will take for my taxi to arrive. The same dispatcher who took my original call said it wasn't sent out because it was "busy". I asked her to please expedite my call because I needed to be at BART before 9am. 25 minutes later my taxi finally arrives. The driver was polite and professional. I told him what happened and he said that he and about 6 other taxis were just sitting at Colma BART waiting for a call. He got me to the BART station in 5 minutes and apologized for the delay. If I ever need a home pick up I'll be using another company. If I'm at BART or Serramonte, I wouldn't hesitate to use Serra Cab. They seriously need to retrain some of their dispatchers because their organizational skills are seriously lacking. read more

This was the scariest cab ride I have ever experienced and I have ridden in many cabs in my lifetime. My friends and I were celebrating a birthday and getting lunch, we took a cab after taking Bart to Daly City where our driver was waiting. We told the driver we were heading to The Koi Palace Restaurant. He said ok and literally began FACETIMING within one minute of us sitting in his cab. I looked at my friend and was like, What, is this for real? I kid you not, our driver Ahmed #005 was holding his cell phone with one hand while steering with the other! He also was going in the wrong direction, speeding, tailgating and zigzagging in and out of traffic. We tried to tell him he was going in the wrong direction but since he was on the phone the whole time he could not hear us! He even passed another Bart Station which for most people would have been a major indicator that they were going the wrong way. Since we got on at a Bart Station wouldn't it stand to reason we would get off at the closest one to our destination? Nope. Ahmed #005 finally got off the phone when he arrived at the COW PALACE. We told him we tried to tell him he was going the wrong way and we were going to the KOI PALACE but he was on the phone the whole time not listening to us. He apologized and said he'd take it off the meter. WE WERE NOW LATE and further from our destination than we were when w began. We asked him to please stay off the phone and that he was scaring us with his driving. Ahmed agreed but he still drove erratically with his speeding, tailgating and weaving in and out of traffic, coming so close to other cars it was nauseating. He was also gassing super hard when there were stop signs coming up then stopping somewhat abruptly, making our heads bob. It is 3.5 miles/approximately 8 minutes from Daly City Bart to The Koi Palace. Ahmed charged us 20 dollars for a 8 dollar cab drive. We were car sick, late and just wanted to get out of the cab so we did not argue. If you find yourself in Ahmed #005's cab, GET OUT and run for your life because he might not only rob you with immense cab fare but he might kill you. I have never written a complaint before until now. Also, I have never seen a driver get on his cell phone, let alone FaceTime, not even considering he is threatening everyone's life in his cab. I guess Cab 95 is a bad driver as I saw another review complaining about whoever drive #95. This morning, the driver was on his cell phone and was not paying attention and almost ran over me on my lane. At the red light, I looked at him and he put down his window and started to be very aggressive. I told him he should not be on the phone and he's not above the law. Being on the phone does affect his driving. He continued to be impolite and cursed. I guess there's nothing much to do with someone like that. I guess this driver is not even smart enough to buy a Bluetooth device. I just feel bad for the person who was seating in the back. I was sort've between a rock and a hard place. I had to arrive for surgery about 30 miles away by 9:40 AM on a Wednesday, and the hospital would not do the procedure for me if I didn't have anyone to leave with me, so I had to bring my 91 year old mother along. All the cabs on Yelp seemed to have very bad reviews. Someone had given me the number for Yellow Cab Daly City where I live. It was Tuesday night at about 9:00 PM, and I called just to check their status for the next day. The gal on the phone set up an appointment for 8:30 the next morning, with details that we would need to bring a travel chair, and the importance of the trip. The next morning at 8:20, the guy called. He was out front waiting. He was very patient, helped put the travel chair in the trunk, got us there, helped set up the chair when we got there, and did all of the same on the return trip at 1:00 PM. I think just the nature of the business begs for negative reviews, as nobody wants to be inconvenienced. However, all I can say is that Serra Cab Daly City came through for me when my life literally depended on it. They were professional, accommodating, courteous, and dependable. read more

After living in San Francisco for so long, I guess I had just become inured to the fact that taxis don't come on time (if they come at all). Gone are those days of waiting for over an hour for a cab. Now we simply call up, state the time we request, and there they are at our doorstep, right on time. We have our favorite guy who remembers where we go. We have the wacky but romantic guy who takes pictures of the full moon on his cell phone while driving. We have the serial killer-looking guy who, I'm pretty sure has never uttered more than grunts toward us, but who gets us there quickly. We take cabs sparingly, cause it's bucks no matter where in the city we're going, but it certainly is a handy luxury to have timely door-to-door service available. Amazing how great a service can be when it actually functions the way it's supposed to. read more

I've used Serra Yellow Cab many times and had great experiences with the entire process. When it came time to go to the airport, of course I called Serra. When I made the appointment to get picked up around 7:30AM on a Thursday morning, I mentioned the 10% discount mentioned right here on Yelp and on Serra Yellow Cab website. I was told there would be no problem, but sometimes the drivers don't speak English very well, so if they have difficulty understanding, to just give the dispatcher a call. I thought that was odd. I asked for a quote from Mission Hills to SFO and was told $25-$30 including the discount. Very reasonable, I was happy. We got picked up and about halfway to the airport I noticed that the meter had run up over $30 already. By the time we arrived it was $43. A bit of a difference from the quote, but whatever. The Driver's computer said 10% discount. I thought "Great! At least I don't need to mention it." "$43", said the cab driver. My boyfriend and I looked at each other confused. "Oh, you probably forgot to calculate the discount." I replied cheerfully. BIG MISTAKE. The driver reacted as if I accused him of murder. I realized that this is why the guy on the phone mentioned it might be an issue, although he shouldn't have blamed it on poor English skills. This guy spoke English perfectly. He said that since it was too early, he should get full price. Still calm, I explained that no, that's not what was agreed upon. It even said on his computer that there was a 10% discount, but he refused. He also demanded proof of the discount. I got on the phone and called the dispatcher who was fully prepared to take this on. Argument ensued and we felt so awkward and uncomfortable. After getting off the phone, he still refused to honor the discount. This is where I got really annoyed and called again. He spoke with the dispatcher once more, this time it was someone else, and essentially threw us out of the car. I calculated the discount and gave him money without a tip, because fuck him. This generous cab company did something absolutely beautiful for me: Driver Mohammed drove my very ill and mentally unstable father about 200 miles from Palo Alto to the Chico area, during rush hour traffic, no less. Taliv, the dispatcher and I think owner, not only agreed to make this possible for me, but gave me a discount because of the crisis situation I was in with my father's deteriorating state (not dangerous, just incoherent and very ill). My dad had been in an ICU and very ill, very angry, and I am an only child. I was beyond my wits end, exhausted after 2 weeks of dealing with him, and this cab company showed me some much-needed personal care and humanity. Taliv treated me like family, and offered to help in any way he could. In the maze of taxi companies out there, please call Serra. You will be treated like you matter, and you will get where you need to go without issue. THANK YOU, Taliv and Mohammed!! My car wouldn't start this morning and I needed to get to school ASAP because of my midterm. I only had 30 minutes and decided to call them. The lady on the phone was very nice and said a taxi would be there in 10 mins! The taxi guy got me to school just in time. Really great service and will use again. Other pros: They take debit/credit! Pros-- Easy to schedule a taxi. Driver showed up promptly. Dispatch called to let me know the cab was outside. Driver helped with my ridiculously heavy bag. Driver let me sit up front, because is like to hang my head outside the window and loll my tongue (just kidding--I get motion sickness, so front is ideal). CONS-- Driver called me "beautiful" at least 3 times. Unwelcome sexual attention. Driver knew I was NOT in a hurry. I mentioned this at least four times before we left. However, driver felt it was necessary to drive 70 in a 45 zone, and 50 in a 35. I know, because I checked. Driver whipped around turns at all times and drove "slalom" style for the entire ride. Driver attempted to PASS ANOTHER CAR ON THE RIGHT IN A MERGE LANE. Then became incensed at the other driver for--I'm not sure what. Maybe for not moving away or slamming on the brakes and freaking out? To his credit, the other driver did neither of those things. Driver asked me twice which airline I was going to, and was told twice...then missed it and had to drive around the terminal a second time. Said he would "do me a favor" and not charge for that extra time. I'm very grateful that my daughter wasn't with me, or anyone else I care about. I was very grateful to finally arrive at the airport unharmed, and not suffering from motion sickness (I got really smart and took scopolamine prior to leaving the house). I'm very grateful that when the driver darted across four lanes of traffic, we weren't hit and I wasn't killed. So, I guess all-in-all, it really could have been much, much worse, but I will still never, ever use Serra again. This company never fails to pick me up on time, take me where I need to go in the fastest and most economical route possible, and give me fantastic service. I even had an experience at one point where I didn't have enough cash to pay for the entire fare and dude was nice enough to waive it and take me all the way home. They are so kind. So professional. I love that they have a GPS and a CC machine in their cabs. Every driver that has driven me has given me great service and even if I'm not quite the best customer (I have a deaf bat's sense of direction) they are amiable. So why 4 stars? The phone operators are rather rude and cut you off and hang up before you can finish your sentence. I've actually had to call back in order to say "can you make that pick up in 20 minutes and not NOW?" Other than that - I'm very happy with this company. read more

I had called and asked for a cab to arrive half an hour to come pick me up. The dispatcher affirms. I call back to make sure one is on its way, the dispatcher says that it is. I call back after it has been late and asks what the ETA of the cab would be, the dispatcher says, "a couple of minutes." 20 minutes pass after the cab is 10 minutes late (do the math) and I get a call from an automated service telling me that they couldn't procure a taxi cab for me. I had to be at the airport early with lots of luggage, so I decided to take a taxi instead of BART. I live on the border of Daly City and San Francisco and had seen Serra Cab's driving around. I called for a reservation and pick-up time. The driver arrived a couple of minutes early which was good. Off we went to the airport. The driver was friendly. So why 3 stars and not 5? I've taken taxi's from Twin Peaks where I used to live to the airport. Twin Peaks is considerably farther from the airport from my house in the Outer Mission. Yet the fare was almost the same which surprised me. Perhaps it's because of the rates for Daly City or San Mateo County, but I had the feeling I had been ripped off and am lowering my rating for that reason. read more

Clean car and friendly driver. Highly recommended (if you are retired and have a lot of spare time to waste). But if you have a flight to catch, or an important meeting to attend, you might want to consider walking to save time. Our flight was at 9:30. We live 15 minutes from the airport. I called Serra Cab at 7:40 AM and asked to have a cab at the house at 8:05 AM. 8:05 AM: no cab. 8:15 AM: no cab. 8:25 AM: No cab. I called the dispatcher and she says "The driver is 5 blocks away". Assuming the cab will be there in a minute or so, my wife and I go out to the curb and wait. 8:35 AM: No cab. 8:40 AM: Cab shows up. I had to give the driver directions to the airport (an alternative route to avoid the freeway which was extremely congested). I asked the driver why she was late, since I called at 7:40 AM. I've used Serra Cab about 10 times now since I moved from SF to Millbrae. I use them mostly for short trips to SFO. The first time I used them they were great, on-time and no problems. Ever since, though, they've yet to be on-time and they're difficult to deal with on the phone. If you order an 8:30am cab, you expect it to be there. Serra tends to send the order out at 8:30, ensuring the guy will be there around 8:45. If I wanted it at 8:45, that's what I would have ordered. And when I've ordered it for 8:30 and they arrive early, if I don't come out immediately, they treat it as an abandoned call and move on to the next job. When I've complained to some of the drivers, they just tell me "I know, we don't like the dispatchers either. They're always setting us up for failure." I used to dread using Yellow and Luxor in SF, but at least they showed up when I needed them there. Time to find another cab company, since Serra is just too undependable. read more

Really pleased with the service. I was so doubtful and felt like I had to call the night before and 5 minutes before the cab was scheduled to arrive. The friendly Taxi Dispatcher was kindly confirmed my appointment for me. When I called at 5:45 (5 minutes before the scheduled arrival), he told me he was 2 minutes away. He called back in 2 minutes and said he was driving up and voila... So I'm headed to the airport again this Friday and already made my appointment. Writing this review as someone that was almost side swiped by one of Serra Yellow Cab's drivers. Around 9am on Aug 28th, there was a Serra Yellow Cab driver that was trying to cut over 2 lanes. He moved over one lane and then tried to go over to the next lane (my lane) trying to cut me off and almost hitting me. I looked at him and asked what he was doing, he later passed me and gave me the finger. Not sure how the passengers in the car felt, but I probably would have felt very unsafe. I am legally blind and I booked a ride with them one day before to get to my vaccination site, the customer service confirmed my round trip. the next day while i was taking the ride the lady called "gale" disregarded the whole trip and started talking rudely and asked the drive to drop me off and leave . Ignoring the fact that her representative feed false information to me . However my doctor at UCSF guided me to hire any cab service free of charge to book the ride to get to vaccinated site. the worse part is she hung up on me and started giving instructions to the driver. Well, looking at recent reviews, maybe I just got lucky, but I had a decent experience. The initial call to set up the cab started off a little rocky, with the dispatcher failing to ask me about my destination, but immediately protesting about the discount, saying it's only applicable to the airport trips. But then I asserted that my trip was to SFO, so he calmed down and said they would offer the discount. I called Saturday afternoon for an early Sunday morning pickup in Belmont. The driver arrived 5 minutes early. I got a call from dispatch telling me he was there. The driver was friendly, spoke English fine, loaded my luggage for me, was quite pleasant, and had no problems applying the discount even though I had forgotten the coupon. The cab was smelly, though. Not sure if it was stale cigarettes or what. It seemed clean, though (although at 6:45am when it's still dark, who knows?) I thought it was interesting/different that the driver made quite the effective sales pitch for the cab company--telling me they're the largest on the Peninsula, etc. I've had drivers give me their cards in case I need a return ride, but I've never had one who spoke so highly of the cab company. read more

The cab is no where to be found. I called the dispatcher again. ... and He said that he would dispatch the cab right away ... with super shuttle charging $29/pp, for a ride from Pacifica to SFO, I thought I would take a chance and call this cab company. I called a week prior, and the dispatcher assured me that the service was 24/7, so even though I was leaving early in the morning, I would be picked up on time. The cab ride was a little more than the "blue van", but it was worth it, and below what we would have paid for 2 people. The person who answers the phone is very polite.
