Tommy was great! He's not a scummy pushy salesperson, and was pretty quick to return calls and text messages. The dealership itself worked with me marginally well for a good deal, but were unreasonably stubborn on the unwanted 'aftermarket add-ons'. I'd buy a car from them again, but only through Tommy, and only without the stupid add-ons. They have a super large inventory, so, you should be able to pick what you want. read more

The appointment-making process is a MESS. Hyundai management definitely needs to re-work their call-in/on-site system. Staff at the facility are nice and try to be as accommodating as they can, but whoever is at the helm needs to make some changes. 1. The first time I came here for a general annual check, made an appointment assuming that was the start time. It was not, it was the time to arrive to have someone ask me what I needed (in spite of my call-in appointment being specified for the general check). I was quoted 4 hours....for something that should take an 1-2h max from drop-off time (what?) 2. Second time I came in to have a part replaced, specifically because Hyundai had recalled it. I come in only for them to tell me 45 minutes after I wait around, that they don't actually have the part. Seriously? Even after I identified the reason for appointment on the phone as "Hyundai recall part", there's no check system to ensure parts are there? Oy vey! Now I'm asked to come back another day and carve out another 5h for that. Simply round trip transit taking 1.5h, having to take off time from work and family duties and plan everything around an appontment...Hyundai please take your customers into account read more

Liked the car and the process was smooth. Salespeople were easy enough to work with. My frustration was the interior and exterior coating add-ons. No one would budge on those markups, and the only reason I didn't walk was that this was the dealership Costco recommended. Not the worst deal, but if you can shop around, do it. He answered all questions and gave us enough time to talk through. The nightmare was the financing gentleman who was not so nice. He was disgruntled and angry. First he had all our information wrong on his computer which was some other gus fault. He was so demeaning and disrespectful and borderline bully I can't even begin to explain. he treated us like crap overall. I left it on a Tuesday and I went back in person to get it the following week when I never got a call back from them. Now, we bring it in for our first service and it takes 45min in the waiting room to get checked in, dropped the SUV at 9:15 and at 3 we still hadn't heard anything. Jsut an oil change and tire rotation. Called and left message, then had a call back we missed, so we called again and we were met with some snotty chick Lexi who didn't want to transfer us to the person who knew about our car because we had just called 5 min ago. This place is a joke. San Bruno Hyundai is 40 minutes from my house. They were the closest Hyundai dealership with the vehicle in the color and the interior that I liked. I sent them, what I thought, was a very reasonable offer online. My thought process is this, and this is exactly what I told them: accept my offer and I will make the 40 minute drive to San Bruno Hyundai and I will purchase the vehicle. If you don't accept my offer, then no big deal and I'll find the next dealership that has the vehicle in the color and interior that I like and make the same offer to them. Within 60 seconds I got a response from someone named Keisha who wants to try to set up some kind of appointment. I tell Keisha that I don't need an appointment and just want to know if San Bruno Hyundai accepts my offer. I tell Keisha that if San Bruno Hyundai accepts my offer, I will come in the next day and purchase the vehicle. I tell her I am serious and I'm not trying to waste their time or have them waste mine. This texting conversation took place around 1:30 PM in the afternoon. I told Keisha that I would not be available until after 6 PM if somebody wanted to talk to me. Keisha then wants me to fill out the online credit application. I tell Keisha that I will fill out the credit application if San Bruno Hyundai accepts my offer and that I did not see the need to fill it out beforehand. Keisha then tells me that one of her sales managers will get back to me after 6 PM and that it will be her pleasure to assist me through this process. So 6 PM rolls around. No call. 7 PM rolls around. No call. I send a text to Keisha saying nobody's called me. No response. 8 PM, 9 PM, 10 PM. No call. No text. Now I did not do other things that I wanted to do because I wanted to make myself available and be able to give my full attention to San Bruno Hyundai when they called. I think it's rude, disrespectful and unprofessional that San Bruno Hyundai didn't follow through with their call back. It could've been as easy as a five second phone call. You accept my offer? Yes. Great. What time do you want me to be there tomorrow? You don't accept my offer? Fine. Thanks for your time. The next day, 10 AM, 11 AM, 12 PM. No call. I text Keisha again and tell her, well I guess so much for wanting to assist me through this process. 1 PM, 2 PM, 3 PM, 4 PM, 5 PM. I never got a call. Never got a text back. I even told Keisha in a text the previous day how I have a 13-year-old son and if they treat me right, I will come back and purchase another vehicle from San Bruno Hyundai when my son turns 16. I guess they just don't care, which I find is typical for most car dealerships. They're your best friend when you first walk in. All smiles and very polite. Then they ask you their most pertinent question - "So, are you interested in making your purchase today?" If your answer is - "No, today, we're just looking trying to get an idea of what exactly we want", then their expression changes and they can't get rid of you fast enough. So many of them don't care about building rapport. They don't care about establishing a connection. Worst Service ever. Good luck even reaching someone to try to make an appointment. If you do finally drop off your car, expect zero communication. If you show up after a week or so to find out what's going on, you'll be standing around for a while as employees go out of their way not to make eye contact. If you do snag someone, you'll be sent to the purgatory of the lounge area for an indefinite period. As I was waiting in the lounge area I could hear customer service representative Daniel slagging off on the phone about the customer he had just taken care of ahead of me. Avoid this place at all cost. To add insult to injury, I received a text asking me to rate my service after my repairs. I answered honestly and listed all my complaints. After a while, we asked to get some help. Luis helped us both times. He was very nice and honest. But the manager was laughable. Too bad the manager didn't know how to negotiate. After negotiating, sales person asked me for my final offer and promised he would call me back with a simple "yes or no" from his manager. He never called. ​Next day, I followed up myself. Well, it was that time but everyone at this dealership were incredible. Tiffany my sales representative sent me videos of 2 cars I was interested in a week before my appointment. I made my decision and she had the car ready and detailed for my appointment. Tiffany was friendly and knowledgeable even assisting with setting up Bluetooth and vehicle features. Amount of time spent doing the credit application was less than an hour. Verne's customer service is above and beyond. He is incredibly knowledgeable and very upfront with no hidden fees. You ask and he delivers. With less than 20 minutes in finance we spent less than 2 hours and drove off in a new Kona. Tiffany reached out the next day to be sure we were happy. Poor communication and unresolved post-sale issues. ​My experience purchasing a vehicle here was difficult due to the length of the process, but the post-sale customer service has been the real issue. Six weeks after purchasing my car, I am still waiting on the second set of keys that was misplaced at delivery. ​I am posting this review because direct communication has not worked. Over the last 5+ weeks, I have had to follow up with the dealership 7 separate times regarding this issue: ​Initial Delay: It took 13 days and 3 follow-up emails from me just to receive confirmation that the keys were lost and a replacement set needed to be ordered. ​Lack of Follow-Up: After requesting home delivery, my emails went unanswered for 11 days until I followed up again. ​Current Status: My last direct email was sent on June 2nd asking to escalate the issue, which went unanswered for 4 days. ​The dealership's public response to my feedback was to ask me to call them to discuss the matter further. Because they already have my contact information and our complete email history, the administrative burden should not be on the customer to chase down a solution. ​As of today, I still have no official confirmation, tracking number, or delivery date for the keys. Last year, I left my car for an AC repair and was told I'd get a call when it was ready. No one ever called. After waiting over 6 hours, I had to call myself, only to be told my car had been ready for a long time. Now, I scheduled a recall appointment a MONTH in advance, planned it during my spring break to avoid work issues, showed up on time, waited an hour... just to be told they don't even have the part. How do you schedule recall appointments without having the required parts? And why wasn't I notified before wasting my time? This is a complete lack of organization and respect for customers. I suspect they also handle car servicing under the complimentary maintenance program poorly. I can't find out because no one will return my calls or emails. When the service advisor finally handed me my keys, she didn't say a word or make eye contact, and I had to ask where the car was. I should have read the reviews before leasing a car from this dealership. 7 months into my lease, my car had the dreaded ICCU issue and completely shut down. I've been without a car for more than a month. The service person said he'd keep me posted but I'm pretty sure he's dodging my calls. And he's never once followed through with anything he said. Phone #s listed are all automated voicemail systems - They say they're going to give me an update by this day or that time, but they have never followed through. - The couple of times I've talked to them, they kept on revising what they said "we expedited your parts, should be 3-5 biz days" to "we haven't diagnosed your car so we can't order the parts, and if it's backordered, it will take 7-10 biz days." This revised statement was already +10 biz days after the car was dropped off. EVERYTHING others have said about (lack of) communication, delays and broken promises are true. I had to open a case with the national Hyundai organization to get any movement on my car. The national representatives have been great. The local communication with the advisor has been an absolute disaster. My car has now been there for 24 days, has been looked at three times- and only when I pressed for something to be done - and the promises made to me re communication have been routinely... Crickets. He let me test drive the Tucson Hybrid Blue line and answered the questions along with getting me acquainted with the vehicle. He let me choose the route to test the vehicle's ride and performance. He didn't try to upsell me on a higher trim line or pressure me to buy during my time there. Towards the end of that visit I told him I still had to think. He did want the sale that day but told them I needed time to sort of some details. He let me leave with their quote in hand. Then after a few back and forths over the phone, I decided to go back and finalize the deal. Thomas greeted me at the following visit since Will was off. I was too lazy to finish this review at the time, but saw this in my drafts and wanted to finish this up since I had such a good experience. I brought my Hyundai into servicing for an appointment I made (make your appts early, earliest availability can be several months away!) and had a great experience. Sherry Pandora helped line me up with all the inspections and work that my car required, and worked around my schedule to get this done. I was really impressed with the process end-to-end. Here's how it went down- 1) I brought my car in with complaints that my exhaust was rattling 2) Sherry found me an inspector who told me I'd need to leave the car overnight 3) I had an upcoming trip that involved airport travel and the inspector was able to work around my schedule to make sure my car could get inspected while I was out. 4) Even though the dealership was closed when I returned, Sherry had left the keys with sales so I was able to pick up my car after I landed. 5) The cherry on top here was that my car was cleaned as well! I've had nothing but repeatedly terrible experiences with this dealership, both in sales and in service. I was looking for a used Ioniq 5 and said so from the very beginning of my car search with them. I often found used cars listed online through their dealership, but as soon as I got in touch with them about it, they "knew nothing about it," and that that car didn't even exist. They would quote me for a brand new cars, and simply ignored that I was looking for a used car. Once I finally found a used car elsewhere, the routine maintenance was covered under warranty. However, whenever I took it in for the no cost tuneup, they would often add other things at an inflated rate. For example, they needed to change my cabin air filter and quoted me Somewhere in the neighborhood of $600. It was a $40 part and labor was no more than five minutes. I ended up ordering the filter on Amazon for $40, and put it in myself. I lost a key and asked them for a quote on reprogramming a new one and they didn't return any of the calls that I put in. I ended up hiring a locksmith. Recently, My 9 V battery died, and I called them about replacement and they never returned my call. I currently need a tuneup before I hit my end of coverage and they can't get my car in the shop for another seven weeks. SO FISHY. Go elsewhere! read more

I was shopping around the bay for a new Ioniq 5 and got a competitive price off MSRP at another dealership but it required a little bit longer drive. I gave San Bruno Hyundai a call to see if they could compete since at the time they had over 80+ Ioniq 5 they had to sell before the tax credit ended. The sales person who was trained in 1987 (the good old days of car salesman) said "they would beat the deal I got" but I had to come in. Great, can I get something in writing? They would not give anything before I made the drive in saying they would beat the price but not commit anything in writing, text, email. Lucky, I got a better more competitive offer at San Leandro Hyundai in less than 1 hour in store and 20 minutes over the phone. For the sales manager or General Manager who might read this, this isn't 1992. People are going to shop deals and expect OTD pricing over the phone. Saw a great deal online, texted them because it was so good to confirm it was real. Was told "we always honor our info online! You should have no problems!". Direct quote. Went into the dealership. Asked the sales rep about the deal, he told me it was real and it was because it was the end of the month. Great, do a test drive, sit around while they "run the numbers". Whoops, turns out they want 10k more than the website quoted me. It was a "bug in the website" that he was "warned about in the meeting this morning", but do I still want to buy? If everyone knows about this bug, why did nobody tell me when I asked? Why is the website STILL showing the incorrect price, even though it's 6pm and they knew in the morning. I was getting a bit worried when my list of repairs was growing by the time my appointment date was scheduled to replace wheel lock with black ones. Then the tailgate came off the hinges, a humming sound would start at 34mph while driving, and a loud thump would randomly come and go when staring or while driving, then this condensation in both rear tail light since I purchased it in 2022 been bothersome and now being told drive axle boot torn is blowing my mind. Then finally up-sale a fuel cleaning that DGI cars needs yearly for 1k was killing me. But I love my car and was willing to work on what is covered by warranty and out of pocket cost. The first guy who picked up the call said that they will be getting the vehicles next week and to wait for it. However, two days later, another guy called and gave us an appointment for Sunday. However, when we went there, he attempted to sell a completely different vehicle. To haul us all the way, wasting our Sunday morning when they had no vehicle is extremely poor business practice. I'm just another person who has dropped off the car for service last week Tuesday (it's been 10 days since then) and not only we are not able to get the car back, we don't even hear from you guys yet what's wrong with the car. For the whole week, we had to keep calling. There were 2 standard answers: 1. They have not yet diagnosed what's wrong with it. They need to find out the damage is not done by us first before they can do further repair. 2. The sales who handled our transaction is off today. So it's been over a week and you are still not able to find out what's wrong (even though we are entirely sure it's not caused by us). We have no car to use for the last 10 days and no loaner car was given to us due to the reason that you can't confirm what caused the issues. We have to pay out of our own pockets the extra transportation costs and time spent during this time since we have no car. There are still no updates at this point and I doubt if you will give us a call today at all. This is totally unacceptable. Again, you guys probably don't care. First time coming here and so glad there's it's closer to SF than the Fremont location. Kinda difficult to find the service dept. I hope they will have bigger & clearer signage in the future but until then, just follow the signs to the Genesis maintenance and it's right next to the century theatre carpark. Park the car and go through the glass doors under the word "Service" to check in. My appointment was at 8 am and after an hour I am still waiting. Surprisingly, they have no records of my previous service maintenance at another location because Hyundais are not affiliated with one another, so I was told (not true). After explaining what needed to be fixed, I was referred to Darren, the service manager, who advised me as to what I should do, so nothing was done but I am still glad this branch is closer to SF. read more

Worst experience with a car dealer ever (and I'm 64 so I have had a lot of experience). I have never seen incompetence at this level. It is almost impossible to talk to someone and messages are not returned. When I have tried to reach the manager (Mike Hoyt) I am constantly told that he is with another customer. I have left many messages with him but he will not return calls. My most recent debacle was when I scheduled my yearly service back in December of 2025. I was told that there were no appointment until Feb. 23 at 5:30. I got periodic texts saying that they looked forward to seeing me on the 23rd at 5:30. Then on Friday, February 20th that the service department closes at 5:00 so I would have to reschedule my appointment. Since then I have left at least 8 messages and none have been returned. My mom purchased a new car from Hyundai of San Bruno last weekend. We're from Vacaville and initially visited the Hyundai dealership there. The salesperson in Vacaville was fantastic--extremely patient, informative, and really sold us on the car. Unfortunately, they didn't have the color my mom wanted. Since she hasn't bought a new car since 2009, we weren't going to settle for anything she didn't absolutely love. The San Bruno location had both of the colors she was interested in. He assured her he'd follow up to make sure she was happy and said he'd be available if she needed anything. He also emphasized that she should leave a 5-star review. However, once we got home and reviewed the documents, we realized the invoice showing the price breakdown, down payment, financed amount, and monthly payment was missing. My mom called the dealership three times between Monday and Tuesday, speaking with Omar, AJ, and Kevin. Each of them said they'd email the invoice, but none of them followed through. By Thursday, she was beyond frustrated. She finally reached Bruce Andrew, who got someone from finance to send the document within minutes. Bruce also followed up to confirm she received it and apologized for the delay. The way my mom was treated after the sale made it clear that the focus was only on closing the deal--not on providing real customer care.
