Visited the Northern Lights Location Fun Decor, clean, and fast friendly service. We must have just missed the lunch rush The food was good. I tried several street tacos: Asada, Carnitas, Barbarcoa, and Lingua All good! Unfortunately the Pork Belly Tacos are not available on the lunch menu. The refried beans were quite flavorful My wife had the Tortilla soup with chicken, it was delicious. All in all had a nice meal with my wife I look forward to going back for the Pork Belly

This is the dish you need in your life -- pork belly tacos

Had dinner with my bonus child to celebrate her 29th birthday and the only food we wanted were the shining star of Serrano's - pork belly tacos. Paired them with a margarita and ooo la la how delightful the flavors were on the palette. We sat at the bar so the service was bar-ish. It's pretty easy to find a seat on Friday night. Nothing fancy. Wear your jeans and hoody.

Came here on a whim while picking up some camping supplies. They have what seems to be a drive through or maybe just a pickup window but that would be very convenient! The inside is beautifully decorated with separate areas for family dining and a "bar scene" I could absolutely see great family gatherings here along with a night out with the girls! My husband and I ordered the taco salad and the Serranos burrito. The taco salad was IMPECCABLE! So many flavors mixed together with the perfect crisp of the taco bowl UGH! The burrito was fantastic as well! Super cheesy and plenty big enough not to need an appetizer. The staff is incredibly friendly and easy going. We loved the relaxed earthy vibes. We will ABSOLUTELY be coming back to try more things and get some drinks! I couldn't recommend this place more!!

Taco salad with cheese on top. EVERYTHING BETTER WITH CHEEEEEESE.

Cool central bar with huge TV, Staff was friendly and super attentive. Excellent taco salad. I asked for the lightest beer they had and it was super crisp. A couple weird things: they put cheese on top of the taco salad. Everyone knows that cheese goes over the rice, beans, n chicken right?! Cray cray. The taco salad bowl was super good n homemade crispy. Beans had kind of a smoke flavor. They were also serving salsa with a bit of smoke. This is overdone at all the hipster places. No bueno. The guacamole n chips were a'ight. The quac was super creamy. I like mine chunky! Where's the chunk?! Great place to come with friends and down a few while eating some tacos.

All in all, this is a great place to try out. I didn't know about this Mexican restaurant until I visited for the first time this past week. The atmosphere was very nice and quiet, and the staff was great. The food, however, was overall decent. The queso was pretty good and had a nice presentation. The menu was surprising for a Mexican restaurant because it wasn't what you would typically expect. I got a Cubana sandwich, but I thought it was pretty boring--overall, just okay. From what I tried, I'd say the food was average, but I would still go back to see if there's something they cook really well. As for the drinks, I was very happy because they have a spicy margarita with Tajín, and it was very good. The glassware was a little on the small side, but the drink itself was great!

I ordered the pastor egg rolls, Chicharron Ribeye, and an Angelic Kiss drink. Our server was very attentive! Egg rolls were delicious, it had juicy pork in it, dip your roll into both sauces, and make sure you have the pickled onion for each bite, yum! The chichrron ribeye OH EMMM, so good! I was scared bc of the "chicharron" part, BUT it is not fried fat, it's meat. Try it, it was very tasty. Then my drink...... little sweet watermelon w the tangy twist on the rim. There was live music on the bar side and it was not loud like you find in some places, we were able to talk normally and hear each other.

One person got food, rest of us waiting to eat family dinner
    Britt R.

I keep trying this place out, and keep thinking it's gross. At this point me going back is my own fault. Tonight's service was awful. We brought family member from out of state and her food showed up before ours.... So if you want a family meal, don't eat here. Mentioned it to the server, who then got sketch and basically ignored our table. We were done with our meal, and she was over chatting. Then once the entire table was cleaned, it took 20 mins to get check and leave. Food reminds us of fast food - but no fast food experience considering it took us almost an hour and a half to eat unimpressive food. Place was loud, music didn't help. Recommend somewhere else.

We thought it was regular hot sauce... so naturally, I absolutely drenched my burrito in it. Big mistake. HUGE. This is to be asked for by customers lol... and it was left out by mistake... One bite in and it felt like I got maced straight to the soul Tears pouring, coughing, face on fire--we couldn't even eat our food because it was that insanely hot. Honestly, it was next-level pain... but also kind of hilarious once we survived it Here's the part that really matters: the owner handled it like a pro. He apologized sincerely, took full responsibility, and didn't even charge us for the meals. That kind of customer service is rare and says a lot about the people who run this place. Owner is amazing and thoughtful... really great people there Accidents happen--but great businesses make it right, and they absolutely did. Awesome food, great atmosphere, cold beer , and genuinely good people. We'll definitely be back (just... maybe staying away from the 357 Magnum next time ). Thanks again for making it right and giving us a story we won't forget!

Flat tonic. Terrible. The enchiladas were OK. The coffee was the color of tar. When I opened the tiny container of half-and-half, the contents were solid and plopped into the coffee. I fished out the solid mass with my spoon and called over the waiter. No apology. I think he then brought back the same coffee, new mini moo-cows. Really terrible dining experience. To top it off, there was an empty plastic vodka bottle on the ground by the front door.

I usually wouldn't eat Mexican food in Alaska those two don't really go together in my brain being from California but I wanted to give it a try anyway lol I ordered the Cilantro Shrimp Molcajete and some chips and salsa on the side. First I will say I don't see why certain restaurants charge for chips and salsa it should be free in my opinion. The salsa lacked flavor and was more sweet than anything. (I asked for the spiciest salsa they have) and the order was $8.. I get it for the size I was surprised but that salsa wasn't good. Moving on to the main dish tho we have the Molcajete which was really good in my opinion. It came out SIZZLING! and the size of it wasn't what I was expecting. So if you're hungry I would def get one of those entrees ! The flavor of the fajita mix was good and the amount of shrimp you get was super filling. That dish was about $38 with the shrimp. The bartender was nice and asked me if I was doing okay a few times and also made sure my water was filled which was great he seemed really knowledgeable of all the good food recommendations and was pretty quick with service so employees were cool ! All in all I enjoyed my early dinner in a nice place that played good Latin music and I liked that it's walking distance from my hotel. I would eat here again one day and try some of their tacos next because I hear they are pretty good. I would say they need to just make the chips free because the are NOT worth $8 lol like at all but other then that decent place.

While the mole sauce was delicious, the chicken thighs I received were so small and bony, my rice lacked flavor and the beans were very soupy. My chips were like the little broken pieces at the bottom of the bag making it hard to scoop any decent amount of salsa into them. For almost $30/plate I was anticipating more protein, bolder flavors and better quality. I want to give them another chance, but sometimes first impressions are lasting impressions. Service was friendly but waitstaff were busy so not as attentive. Ambiance is what you'd expect from a hole in the wall.
