On 8 25/20 this company was sent by American Home Shield for a claim of non cooling AC , they sent a tech to do a diagnosis and suggested to change the air compressor , we were charged for this repair $1500 out of pocket , this didn't work and they sent a second tech a week later who made a different diagnosis and suggested a different repair , this time $1445 out of pocket and also didn't work, then "it must be the board" but you have to buy a new board because AHS will not pay for it and also didn't work, then we stopped . No way to make them responsible for this lack of competency Terrible diagnosis of the problem, multiple technicians with no knowledge and poor repair , we had to go to another company to fix the bad work done with poor materials they used the cheapest compressor in the market. I would not recommend to anyone I don't know how AHS uses this company read more

After reading these past Yelp reviews, I am hoping others are more wise than I was and read these before dealing with this company. Even via warranty referral, BEWARE! Edith with Service One came to my home on 4.21 due to a HVAC not cooling. In less than 10 minutes, so apparently performed a leak test and found a Freon leak. Her only recommendation was to replace the evaporator coil or get a whole new system. She was fast, and delegated all questions to my warranty company. Since having warranty, Edith advised that it only covers some items and ~$1,300 would be out of pocket as the item per Service One/Edith's findings was "out of code". She referred to my warranty contract when advising out of code. After almost a week of screaming for someone to tell me what this means, my warranty company finally replied and acknowledged their contract limits repairs on out of code items for what is covered. Understanding the possible warranty limitations around Edith's "findings", I had another company (the original company who installed the new HVAC in 2017) to come out and look. They didn't find a Freon leak due to a broken evaporator coil at all, Edith was wrong. Furthermore, they concluded she could not have performed a leak test NOR could she have filled up the Freon tank. When they performed the leak detection test, I heard the sound of a machine I have never heard before. I asked them, "would Edith have had to use a similar system to find a leak?"... they replied generally stating, even if I heard it or not, there was no way there was a "major freon leak" at the coils due to lacking of leak/evidence. Meaning, she didn't find a leak at all, even though Edith repeated "you have a major Freon leak" over and over again, upselling the issue. The new contractor that I paid for out of pocket was appalled when reading Edith's Service One estimate. They claimed almost all items on her "list of repairs" needed in addition to the evaporator coil were all already installed and in code. They confirmed, Edith's misdiagnosis was trumped by her bogus parts and repair items that had nothing to do with the true repair or anything missing/being out of code. This new company was so shocked they took a photo of the estimate and with my request will escalate this formally, as Edith nor Service One should ever be allowed to lie to people in efforts to gain profit. After seeing how long even just filling up the Freon and checking to find the actual issue took, I know Edith didn't do any of the things she said she did that day. Shameful. In summation, I have filed a corresponding BBB complaint, a complaint with the Texas Attorney General regarding Service One and AHS warranty. And other various channels. Everyone should be aware of the practices of this company and especially Edith. If she tried to swindle me, if she misdiagnosed me, I know she has to other harmless families in North Texas. I expect Service One to respond wholly to all complaints and concerns and acknowledge their lies. Curious as to what excuse or justification will be made - your internet was "out of service" the last time AHS and I tried calling.... Convenient. Looking forward to sharing proof of all of this including photos to all parties helping resolve my complaints. Funny, Edith never took photos when she was here, coincidence? She never explained why she was charging me for parts not related to the supposed fix needed coincidence? This new company documented everything they did, because they have integrity. Edith should be investigated, as it's probable she has misdiagnosed and lied to others. AHS should also highly consider researching other Service One specific jobs, how many other clients got lied to and ripped off by Edith or other employees? Companies with lacking integrity like this give companies who actually are honest and want to help people a bad name. read more

When our heat went out, I called Service One, and Ian came out promptly, diagnosed the problem, ordered a new gas valve and had it working the next day. Prior to this, another company told me I needed to replace the whole system. I appreciated the integrity, honesty and professionalism of Service One. read more

First and foremost I want to say there are not enough stars to give you at this time. Our daughter who was here visiting turned on the bath tub and could not get it to turn off. We could not get the water off and did not know where to turn it off from the main valve. We called numerous companies who were just too booked up until next week which would have left us with a dilemma. You guys were the only ones who came out within 10 minutes and fixed everything in a timely manner and truth be told the price was not that bad for such an emergency. AHS and all other customers beware. Our AC stopped working and AHS assigned this company. The guy was late and, after 10 minutes outside around the unit, he claimed our AC compressor was bad AND that we'd need to pay $1700 out of pocket to bring our 2010 unit up to code (he said they couldn't replace the compressor without bringing it up to code). The guy must write this up often as he said he's had this happen with many other customers and he was confident AHS wouldn't cover the cost to bring up to code. I get a call later on from a guy at the main Service One office who went so far as to introduce the idea of replacing the entire unit with 72 months financing and a 10 year warranty (also advising that AHS would offer a small pay out if we went this route). I called AHS asking for a second opinion and, sure enough, the next company replaced the capacitor, a piece in the attic, and added two pounds of refrigerant ($50 out of pocket); Voilà, my AC is back online and running perfectly. If AHS assigns this vendor, call them and ask for a different vendor unless you are willing to fork up cash unnecessarily. read more

Came late, way past the window of time that was given, spent less then 2 minutes, looked it , didn't know how to fix it. called AHS told them it was a power surge when the unit comes with a surge protector, there was no power surge. This company does enough American Home Shield repairs that they know what will get the claim denied and thats why they said power surge since they dont have to work on it anymore and still keep the trip fee. Losing A/C is rough for anyone and always seems to happen at the worst time, but I had a dog in my house who was struggling and wasn't welcome elsewhere, so I was scared about having to wait the 6-7 days other companies quoted me. I saw a Service 1 van down the street and ran down there. When I couldn't tell which condo the technician was in, I called the number on the van, and Mandy agreed to tweak the technician's schedule to fit me in before he left the area. When the technician, Doug, found out about that, he was gracious and happy to help, fixed the problem within 30 minutes, and saved the day. I really appreciate the willingness to fit me in because it made sense while the tech was in the area, but I'm not sure other companies would have done that. I am not sure who to speak with about an incident I witnessed yesterday morning with one of your workers, but I think they need to learn some common decency especially if they are going to act horribly in a company vehicle. I went for my morning breakfast in the drive through at Whataburger yesterday morning on my way to work. A company vehicle was in front of me. My window was rolled down and I could see the gentleman in front of my flailing his arms about and cussing at the window, before speeding off. Come to find out, he had only been asked to move up. I don't know why this was such a problem, but I didn't think it was appropriate, and I thought it was very unprofessional that your workers would act like that. I didn't see the man's face, but I don't think this is the type of person you want representing your company. Due to his behavior, I will never use your service in my home. This was beyond rude and I can only imagine how this man treats your customers. read more

We bought a Trane unit from Service One last July and have had nothing but trouble. We can't get the owner to return phone calls, they don't have service men that know how to work on Trane and I would never recommend this headache to anyone. He sent out 2 of his guys to work on the BRAND NEW unit and they ended up in the ER because of a light they knew nothing about burning their eyes. I'm now looking at my ceiling in my kitchen where one of his techs came out for a regular service call, but didn't reattach a pipe correctly and it leaked and my ceiling is now ruined with water spots and cracking. We have called the office, left messages and no one calls back, we've called the owner and he never calls back, we've emailed with no response, next step is getting an attorney. I've written this review to warn of deceptive practice and caution when working with Service One. Here is my experience from June, 2019. I selected Service One to diagnose and repair my AC unit from a list of recommended service companies through my home warranty service. Before making this selection, I checked for feedback from the Better Business Bureau and ingalls reviews, such as Yelp. I didn't find substantive negative feedback. The service person was nice and very clear upfront about potential costs required to bring my unit up to code during the repair. He explained that it's common to pay $1,500 to $2,000 more than what is covered by the home warranty. I found that odd. After explaining what to expect, the service person diagnosed the unit and provided an estimate. I wasn't shocked when he provided the $1,450 quote (below). I marked what I was told were code violations. Similar to other repair services (auto, home, etc.) I expect a quote and it's common that things change along the way. Maybe they could remove costs if the work wasn't necessary as the repair begins. I called Service One to talk about the quote and schedule the repair. To my surprise, I was told that all live items were required and that they require full payment before scheduling the repair. This is a red flag to me. I have never paid for a repair service in full prior to the work being performed. Usually, I pay after (auto repairs, carpet cleaning, etc.) or pay half (for materials in a home improvement, etc.), but never full payment prior to service. I called my home warranty company to talk about the quote. They told me that the repair costs above what's covered are determined by the service company and handled directly with the service company. I called Service One to determine which line items were necessary versus nice to have. I was told everything is required. The person on the phone would not walk through the line items. I asked about labor rates and material costs. I explained that I would be willing to pay for materials upfront and labor for hours performed. I was told that all rates are negotiated with the home warranty company and not negotiable. I called the home warranty company again to verify the code violations are accurate as well as the rates. They repeated that the code repairs and rate are determined by the service company solely at their discretion. I called Service One again and was told again that all items were required and that the rates are negotiated annually between Service One Air and the home warranty company. I called the home warranty company a third time to request a second diagnosis from another service company. The second service company arrived the same day I called and diagnosed without me disclosing any prior concerns. Much to my surprise, the second diagnosis resulted in no code violations. The service person walked me through the check and showed me the tape and mastic, float switch, p-trap, and drain insulation that were already installed into our system. I was very disappointed to learn that Service One was quoting me for code violations which were clearly false. My system was repaired by another company, also recommended by my home warranty company. The repair was completed within an hour at no additional cost to me. The unit has been operating as new for a few months and seems to be reliable. I wish all service companies could be as honest and reliable as this new one. Please do your homework and research before prepaying Service One for repairs that you may not need. They sent a "tech" that literally told us she JUST started working on air conditioners- we caught her looking on her phone for how to do the work!!!! FAST FORWARD... after she took over an hour to do our paperwork it was mainly to sell us 2 new units WE DON'T need!! On top of that the work was HORRIFIC- we now have water leaking from the "work" she didn't do correctly. BEWARE! This Company was sent out to repair my Ac unit from AHW and they lied and diagnosed It with a bad compressor. I payed out pocket for a second opinion from a more trusted company and lo and behold absolutely nothing was wrong. They turned off the breaker to the furnace and outside breaker to make it appear as if the system was not functional. Btw AHW only provides new replacement parts NOT REFURBISHED as they insisted I caught them in so many LIES! read more

Worst company to deal with. Could not get someone to call me back after being reassured 4 times someone would call me that day to book an appt. Then I finally book an appt after hounding them. They show up over an hour an a half late. At least could give a heads up that they would not be there in the time frame given. Proceed to "fix" the unit and leave. Thirty minutes later it stops working and when I call back to have them come back...M says she is calling me right back she just needs to get ahold of the technician. Never receive the call back bc M went to lunch and decided not to follow up with me to let me know what was going on. Finally I get to a manager and no one can come back today they can only see the following day. Total joke of a company. Worst customer service. A HORRIBLE,RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL, LIAR, AND UNKNOWLEDGEABLE COMPANY when it comes to AC. This company replaced a old unit with a NEW UNIT (not confirmed). I believe they bought damaged equipment from LENNOX and sold it to me as new. The units have NEVER worked properly, since day 3 when it knocked out all of my power. Not one person in this business has been able to figure out why, and have the ordasity to state nothing is wrong( The words from the head creep BRYCE) who came to my home on yesterday and asked for more money. IDIOT--do you really think I would give you any more money after I paid close to $11, 000.00..When hell freezes over.....The head creep states that the requested money is because the freon is very different and the cause NOW of the problem. He also stated that NOW I need new dampers and all new duct work...What a complete IDIOT...In my opinion it is a scam and a very crooked company. I also purchased the extended warranty that is not worth the paper it is printed on. I am warning the customers dont become a victim like me...BUYER BEWARE. Their explanations made sense and I got the impression they were interested in fixing the actual problem vs. figuring out ways to charge me for unnecessary services. I started using Service One many years ago when another company told me I needed a new air conditioner. I had no job and was living on Social Security. I called Service One and Alan came out. Kind and fair, he repaired my old unit. He came out every year patching it up. After a while, it just wasn't going to last another year. By then, I was working and Alan sent his son out to check on the unit once more. It was finally time for a new one. They got me a great deal on a Trane! I never thought I could own such a quality unit. I even got the Special Clean Effects Filter! Best investment Ever! A Great Family Business! read more

I would give Service One Air 0 stars if possible. They were sent from American Home Shield (another review of them coming). Our a/c went out on a Friday night. They couldn't come until Tuesday. We had to go to a hotel and spend over $300 for a room while waiting 3 days for them to show up. They showed up and said it was the motor. They replaced the motor. Within 15 minutes of the tech leaving the unit outside was making the very same noise it had been previously. We decided to let it burn itself out if that's what it was going to do since it was supposedly AHS's responsibility to repair or replace. A week later it stopped again. They came out again and said "Oh, the first motor must have been been out of the box". They supposedly put another motor in. That same night it did the very same thing and stopped running as well. AHS said we had to stick with them since they started the job. Clearly they were incompetent. Long story short, I called a private company and had to spend $11,000 for a whole new unit. Needless to say, I promptly cancelled American Home Shield. However, the new company pointed out all the mistakes the tech made starting with putting in the wrong motor, leaving the capacitors in the cardboard boxes (fire hazard) and not mounting them on the unit, failing to determine the dampers in the attack had failed thus not allowing any cool air to the second floor, and on, and on, and on. This company is HORRIBLE!!!!! Do NOT use them under any circumstances. If you have American Home Shield CANCEL immediately!!! They are a ripoff as well. We paid them $58 per month for 4.5 years and only used them once to replace a burner in the stove which was also a nightmare. This was the first big issue and it was worthless to have them. Totally money wasted. This company obviously only does work for AHS since they perform subpar work and don't have enough work on their own. HORRIBLE service!!!!! Steer clear!! read more

He was also very communicative. He took before pictures to explain and show me what he was talking about. I don't know about you, but a picture speaks a thousand words! I had an air conditioning company out and was told I needed a new unit. I called Service One Air for a second opinion and they sent out a nicely uniformed technician who even put on little protective shoe covers to protect my carpet. It turns out I only needed a new part and not a new unit. My bill was under $200. when the other company wanted $2400. to replace. Thank you Service One Air for having the integrity and honesty to tell me what was really wrong with my unit and not just trying to sell me a new one. read more
