If you don't value your property, then go ahead and invite these thieves into your home. A tornado hit my family's condo in the Temple, TX area ripping off the roof. ServiceMaster Restore came in and STOLE from our damaged home. Now they are refusing to reimburse us for the theft, EVEN THOUGH THEY provided pictures of the items in place upon their arrival. I wouldn't invite these thieves into my home or place of business if they were the last remediation company on earth. read more

I would give negative stars if I could. They came to my house back in May and said they would email both the insurance, and us for the follow up. We never received anything. A month passed. Eventually we got a letter from insurance saying our claim was going to be considered finalized is they didn't hear from us and get documents by a certain date. I called my insurance asking what the hell was going on and we were waiting for their follow up. That was when they told us they had never received anything either. I had nothing from Service Master stating which one serviced my house (no paper, business card, nothing signed, no emails, no text) so I called the main number trying to get ahold of anyone who could point me in the right direction. I explained the situation to the woman on the phone asking her if my address and date of service could be looked up to find anything. I even had the time they were there. She said she "put notes in the system" and to "expect a call back from someone." About two weeks passed with no calls, no email, no nothing. I call again. This time I explain the whole thing to a man and even finish off by telling him about the lady on the phone and how I never received a call. He sighs on the phone and says, "I took notes and you should be receiving a call." I asked him three follow up questions about the processes, protocols and the way things are run at Service Master. All of which he answered, "I don't know." At this point, it's July and service happened in May. I finally got an invoice from Service Master in the mail dated from May. Funny- perfect timing as it gave me the address and phone number of the exact location I needed, but I STILL had not heard from Service Master and this was the only thing I had received from them in 3 months. No email with services, still. No signed documents, nothing. I called the number on the invoice. I told the woman on the phone everything- including how I was finally able to get the right info. She was able to find me in the system, BUT there were no notes in the system about my calls. The only notes were that THEY kept trying to contact me. I told her that complete BS because no one has tried contacting me or my fiancé since they left our house. Email, text or phone call. They had all the right contact info to get ahold of us before the actual appointment! Luckily this woman was able to send me the full report that they were supposed to have emailed us that day 3 months before and I was able to get it to my insurance. Without her and that invoice coming in, I would have had no proof they were ever here and nothing to send to the insurance company. They are a nightmare to work with. Run. read more

This company is a joke and should be considered a scam! UPC Insurance referred service Master by Century to clean and restore my property after a minor fire incident at the laundry room. Although the fire was concentrated in the laundry room (dryer overheated), the soot was spread at the house during the fire control, requiring cleaning and repainting at the kitchen and other spaces. What was supposed to take three weeks (as per their estimate) took actually five months and got unfinished since I had to remove them from the property after several, I mean, SEVERAL problems. Their communication is very poor (Jorge Cruz - the worse, Craig Stevenson, Audrey Allman, all terrible), they don't know what they are doing. In addition, their project schedule does not make sense. The services are performed under the wrong sequence (re-work over re-work), and the quality is terrible. All the wood paintings were done with water-based paint instead of oil-based and started to peel after a few weeks. Therefore ALL the doors, cabinets, baseboards, crowdings, etc., had to be scrapped, sanded, cleaned, and repainted with oil-based paint. In other words, everything must be re-done and paid to another contractor. Even the walls and ceiling in several spots have two different paintings between eggshell, satin, and flat, and also some areas were not even painted. In addition to the painting issues, their crew didn't protect the floor and surfaces during the works and scratched the floor with their toolboxes and paint cans in many areas. Furthermore, the services were performed by subcontractors without any supervision. In the end, I had to replace the wood flooring because it couldn't be fixed. One more loss since I had to pay it out of pocket once my insurance company didn't pay it. A total loss of over $ 30k that Servicemaster did not compensate me. This is a company that anyone with common sense would be ashamed to work for. Please pay due attention to this statement and others. As you can see, there is not a positive review about this company on the entire web. My issue with Service Master was not an isolated event, and my BIG mistake was not researching before involving them in my home renovation. I wish I had done that before... read more

NEVER use this company for restoration. Our water heater broke in October of 2020. This company is EXTREMELY poor at communication skills. If you are not ready to be the secretary and constantly call them to get the job done....then find another company!!!!!! Juan Q. and Craig S. are horrible to work with. It took 6 months to complete this job. They told me it should take about 2 weeks. If I had not constantly called them, it would still be unfinished. WORST MISTAKE EVER!!!! read more

I strongly regret my decision to hire this company. I hired them on the recommendation of my cousin. I had water damage in the wall behind my kitchen sink cabinet from a leaky pipe. I had the repair and drying done by another company (Roto Rooter, highly recommend them for that!) Century sent out a gentleman to bid the cabinet replacement job, and he told me there were two options: simply repair the 2 damaged walls of the cabinet, which would be the more budget friendly option, or replace the entire cabinet, which would be more expensive because of labor to remove counter top, sink, etc. I made sure he knew I wanted to correct the damage properly, which he said was the latter option, so I agreed to do it for a cost of a little over $3800, half of which they asked for in advance. As we were waiting for the project to start, the project manager told me his cabinet guy thought he could do the work without removing the counter top. I was all for that, but got suspicious when they said it wouldn't change the price of the job, because this approach would require "additional work, labor and care". I agreed to go forward with that change, and the day the job started, they were in my house for less than 6 hours. So much for additional work, labor and care. I got home to find the bottom and back sides of the cabinet replaced with materials that didn't match the other sides of the cabinet and were not even cut to fit, so they used huge beads of white caulking to try to seal the edges. See Pics # 1 and 2. (Sorry, loaded out of order) Note also the huge gap at top of cabinet. The project manager called to say they were finished with the bulk of the work. I told him of my concerns for the poor quality, so he went out to take a look. His solution was simply to put trim around the edges, which didn't even cover the awful caulking and still left a giant gap at the top. See pics #3 and 4. He then signed a certificate of completion and left it for me to sign, and was ready to stand behind this work as a brand new, fully replaced cabinet, and accept nearly $4000 for this work. This appears very much to me that they chose to do the "budget friendly" repair option-- which I specifically opted NOT to do - but tried to pass it off as a fully replaced cabinet. I hate to even have to think this way, but did I mention that I am a single woman dealing with this company on my own? I want to think it couldn't be, but it certainly seems they were willing to assume I wouldn't know the difference. I requested that they breakdown their time and expenses on the job so I could see how they made up the difference in costs on this job compared to the original bid. I asked 7 times, they never did it. They in fact told me they couldn't break the info down like that, even though that's exactly what they did for the bid in the first place. They agreed to "fix" the work, but before they could do that they had to admit that they had lost the keys I had given them to my home. It had been over 2 weeks since they last saw them. It took several angry requests and another week before they finally got a locksmith out to change out my locks. I asked them to tell me specifically, in writing, how they would fix the problem. Never got that either. They told me every other day that they'd be there tomorrow to finish the job. It was 2 months of that same story and no one showing up. Finally got someone back in to re-do the work, and they still left the walls too short to connect at the top and on one of the sides. See pics #5 and 6. The project manager looked at it and told me there was no acceptable solution to the problems. I had to show him how one of my bathroom cabinets was done with supports around the top edges which would support the counter top and seal the edges. I had to show him how to fix the problem. The carpenter showed up unannounced on a Saturday, and thankfully I was home and got the bulk of the work done. There is still a gap in the front. They offer a 1 year warranty on their work, but to get it I had to sign a certificate that says the work was done to my full satisfaction. I can't say even close to that, so I didn't sign it. They can have their warranty. It's been a terrible experience and I hope you don't hire this company. read more

I had smoke damage from a fireplace accident back in 2012 and wrote a review on these guys that has since disappeared, so I am re-entering it as I see the effects of the decision to bring them in every time I look at my insurance claim history. So I called ServiceMaster back in December 2012 because they were recommended by State Farm. Initially it seemed like the right choice, they brought in a bunch of people to clean the house, very attentive, cordial, etc., sent all my clothes to the cleaners, recommended replacement of my chair, couch and loveseat, had companies like Gunn's restoration and Baghdad Carpets clean my TV, Stereo and oriental rugs. I wrote up Gunn's Restoration and Baghdad Carpets separately, so you can get details from them. Things started to go bad when one of their Mexican lady workers tried to access my tax info on my computer; then Baghdad Carpets returned my expensive carpets all bleached out. Gunn's never cleaned my TV, did something to my stereo so it didn't work and a bunch of smaller issues. The sales person on the account decided to get cosmetic surgery right in the middle of my claim and was out for weeks. The person that was supposed to be covering did nothing for us and wouldn't respond for weeks. The claim went on for about a year because of this (I believe they fired our rep). Service Master was so disorganized and their subs wouldn't take responsibility, so things just dragged on for months (I must have fielded 50 calls on trying to sort out the damage done to my carpets). I felt sorry for Service Master because their subs were so incompetent and then I found out how much they charged my insurance company: $62,000 - for cleaning mostly. They paid me $14,000 for a new couch, loveseat and massage chair, but that was it. Also, they filed two claims for the fire, which is a big red flag to insurance companies. Since insurance companies now share claim information with other companies, I am screwed for 5 years until it falls off the records. I would not recommend using them. read more
