Shortly after moving into our new place, we noticed an area of water damage in the wall and flooring from a leaking drain pipe, which the previous owners had covered with furniture during our inspection. We had the leak itself fixed by Tonka Plumbing, and requested an estimate from Loyear for the remediation work. When Gary showed up, he had a mask, booties, everything you'd expect in 2020. He listened to what our issues were, inspected the damage, pulled out his cool infrared gadget, and gave us his estimate. The surprise came when he then told us that - as much as no business likes to turn down business - our issue was one we could probably handle ourselves. Instead of simply taking our money, he suggested that we give it a go, and call him back if the issue turned out to be larger than we were comfortable handling on our own. So there you have it. 5-star review for a company I never actually hired -specifically because of an estimator's honesty and frankness. Mold remediation is a fickle business. While we take it completely seriously with many many friends…read morehaving faced toxic mold in their homes, we also want to be cautious to not be anxious when there is little cause for alarm. Be prudent and wise. In the spectrum of excessive (no place is safe!) to stupidity (just throw bleach on it; that's just a "basement smell"), Bill is right where you need with moderate views of wisdom and prudence. We worked with Bill in the past with a previous home and he was quick to do work well and give us the peace of mind everything was cleaned up that needed to be, so we knew if we ever needed help in this realm again we could trust Bill to help us. In an industry where people can easily be preyed upon when there is fear and lots of bad information involved, Bill is definitely the voice of reason, wisdom, and true help. We looked at dozens of homes and got discouraged by seeing obvious mold/reacting to most of them. When we finally found a home we loved, we had it tested as part of the inspection, believing it was by far the cleanest home we had seen so we had nothing to worry about. The test results were panic-inducing due to the way they were worded, and yet they did not tell us anything about where the mold was coming from. We wanted a second opinion on whether we should move forward and/or plan mitigation efforts so we messaged Bill and he got us in his schedule quickly. Since his job is not specific testing we looked for testing companies as well, and were ghosted by all of them. In the end, when Bill came out he eased our minds and did some basic testing to help form our opinion. He gave us the peace we needed in helping us trust our guts, while also giving us wisdom in doing some preventative measures to clean up a few things like ducts correctly with the trustworthy pros he recommended.
