Shortly after moving into our new place, we noticed an area of water damage in the wall and flooring from a leaking drain pipe, which the previous owners had covered with furniture during our inspection. We had the leak itself fixed by Tonka Plumbing, and requested an estimate from Loyear for the remediation work. When Gary showed up, he had a mask, booties, everything you'd expect in 2020. He listened to what our issues were, inspected the damage, pulled out his cool infrared gadget, and gave us his estimate. The surprise came when he then told us that - as much as no business likes to turn down business - our issue was one we could probably handle ourselves. Instead of simply taking our money, he suggested that we give it a go, and call him back if the issue turned out to be larger than we were comfortable handling on our own. So there you have it. 5-star review for a company I never actually hired -specifically because of an estimator's honesty and frankness. Will 100% call them in the future for any water damage/remediation work I need.

But now that we're homeowners, the tide has turned. And when we got a mailer deal for carpet cleaning, we were very interested. We scheduled an appointment over the phone for the Twin Cities Finest team to come out after all of our painting was done - we had an at-home carpet cleaner but it just wasn't doing the trick. And for the sweet deal promo, we were sold! I loved that they send reminder emails and texts so you don't miss the appointment. Our technician that came out was honest, trustworthy, and clear. He gave us a quote for the whole space (we had a few more rooms we wanted done beyond the promo deal) and the price was still great. The carpet looked so incredible after he finished (less than an hour!). He also gave us a quote on our air ducts and an honest look at their current condition. We really appreciated him not trying to oversell us, and telling us how the vent cleaning works. He also gave valuable insight into tile cleaning. We were so impressed by the technician's trustworthiness AND by the end product - beautiful carpets! Highly recommend :)

They came back the next day and did a more thorough job. When they recommended dismantling the entire island in the kitchen I was reluctant--expressed my worry that we would end up buying a whole new kitchen if we did that. I was reassured that everything would be restored to original condition. The removal process was done with little concern for preserving what was there. The plumbing pipes to the sink went through sheetrock and the back of the cabinet. First they cut the pipes then destroyed the cabinet back and sheetrock--so a plumber needed to be included in putting it back together--totally unnecessary wanton destruction. Small hardware pieces in the Ikea cabinet were discarded--Ikea would send those free if they still made them, but they don't make them any more. Found something sort of similar on ebay. Top pieces in both cabinets were broken for no good reason. A bespoke nut on the kitchen faucet was lost so that a new kitchen faucet was needed. Various trim was broken. There are lots of companies doing water damage repair--check yelp for recommendations!

They gave me the cheapest quote and had the earliest availability. Matt and Mark were a great team with over 40 years of upholstery/carpet cleaning experience. I appreciated that they went through each piece of furniture with me and explained which pieces would cost more than what I was quoted (and why) and confirmed whether I still wanted those pieces to be cleaned. They don't work on commission, so they didn't care how many pieces I got cleaned and as a result, there was no pressure. The morning of my appointment they asked if they could come earlier, but unfortunately I was running late myself! Despite this timing issue, they didn't complain or make a big stink about it. Really happy with the outcome and will be sure to use them again.

What comes out of their "machine's" nozzle is not steam, In fact the "steam" used at my home was barely warm water. (Steam is a hot vapor and should not "squirt".) 2. Carpet cleaners have ambiguously names "special" processes and "tools" that they use to differentiate themselves. Steam Magic offered a "special" that included some "magic" process that would help get out stains. They called it "Product" -- yes literally. I tend to watch out when any sales oriented businessman offers me something called "product" (common with auto detailers). Smelled like citrus cleaner. 3. Had them do a large amount of carpet and a bathroom with tile and tile shower. The carpet looked a bit revitalized when wet and has now returned to normal. The grout between the bathroom tiles was much cleaner where I did a test area with a brush (to see if it could come clean -- my area looks good!). I also tested doing the shower grout with a bush to see if it could come clean, My areas looked great, the rest of the shower looks OK but there is a total of 2 feet of grout missing that I will have to repair. I winced as they claimed they used a "higher pressure" on their nozzles for tile, and that fear was realized. 4. They worked hard but seemed in a hurry to leave. 5. Corners left dirty here and there. This diatribe is mosly a criticism of the entire carpet industry. My experience is that any vendor I have tried performed their process and did no more. Steam Master is just one of the bunch.

I hired Clear Choice Restoration for an insurance claim that included replacing the siding. The…read morehouse had two layers of siding, the inner layer was original clapboard and lead-based paint. The crew failed to follow lead paint remediation practices and contaminated my entire yard with lead-based paint chips. They came out twice to "clean up" the lead paint - both times failed to reasonably clean up the lead paint chips. They then claim another contractor caused the lead paint contamination, quit the job without notice, and refuse to file a claim with their insurance company to cover the cost of cleaning up the lead paint chips they failed to contain. IMO, they are trying to get out of their responsibility to clean up the lead contamination. If you have a house that may have lead-based paint, I think you should avoid Clear Choice Restoration at all costs.
