Kelly is amaaaaazing! I LOVE the way my hair turned out. When i arrived late for my appointment, she was very sweet and welcoming. The haircut comes with an initial hair wash which was super relaxing because she massages your head during the process. Before she actually cuts your hair, she makes sure that you're okay with it. She also gave me her expert opinion on how i should have my hair cut so my hair would not look as damaging from ombre & chemical straightening (so you know how bad my hair was before). She was also extremely patient because initially i didn't know how i would like my hair to be cut and i kept asking her to cut more to my liking. She even offered to curl my hair. Liz is absolutely amazing. I've been getting my hair cut and colored by her for nearly 5 years. When I first came to her, she helped me pick out a color and it's the longest I've stuck with a color (love it so much). With cuts she also listens to what your longer term hair goals are (be it growing out your bangs or trying to keep your hair long but healthy looking) and tailors her cuts to help achieve those goals. I've been with Kelly for a few years, starting when she was at Tomo. I'm elated that I found her via a friend's recommendation. Kelly is very detail-oriented and doesn't take shortcuts, she's fun to be around, and most importantly, she's consistent. I've been with other stylists that after awhile they kind of get lazy and the quality of my haircut noticeably goes down, and then I become unhappy and have to move on and find another stylist. Kelly has provided the same excellent service since day 1. I'm really glad that she opened her own salon. Fred has been my regular stylist for 20 years--been seeing him since I was in high school. 5 stars for his amazing colorist skills: color is always perfect and you can't beat $80 for highlights on waist-long hair. I've received several comments from strangers from LA to Walnut Creek, asking me "who does my highlights?" Additionally, Fred's assistants (typically 2-3 per session--one to hold the foil down as Fred colors, one to wash my hair and do a nice massage on my scalp and one to blowdry) help to keep the process moving and make sure my highlights don't get overdone. I'm happy he has moved to Sessions, where the salon is clean and modern. He has all his usual tool from his prior workstation at Tomo, so you'll feel right at home. Thanks, Fred! read more

This review is for Tinneke! I was able to book with her for a cut and blow dry! She was simply amazing! She knew exactly what cut I needed, and was super educated in hair. She took the time out to actually show me how to do a proper blow out, and to try to stay away from the heat killing my bleached hair. I just want her to know she is the bomb! Tinneke is the BEST hairstylist ever! I've been looking for a regular stylist for about a year now. I've been in different salons all over Alameda and Oakland. Tinneke went above and beyond to listen to what I was wanting to achieve and gave me suggestions that would highlight my natural beauty. She looked at my skin tone and suggested I do some natural ash highlights. My hair is long and I wanted to keep the length but my layers were messed up from the last stylist I saw in a different salon. Tinneke listened well and didn't chop all my length off. I have dark blonde/light ash brown hair and she has done a beautiful, bold and bright highlighting since I started with her. I get compliments all the time! My hair is always healthy because of her skills. If I suggest something that she feels won't work or be good for my hair, I trust her completely. When I saw the color, I had them immediately stop because I realized the hair stylist had no idea what she was doing. Sessions Salon was able to see me the same day, and consult me on my hair problem. Hana was my experienced stylist, and she was able to not only fix the highlights, but also give me a nice chestnut brown color, in addition to a fab bob cut. First of all, you need to know what a curmudgeon I am when it comes to my hair. I am never satisfied..except for now! They really listen to what you want first of all. And they are fast, (less than two hours for cut and highlights), they are nice, the salon is spanking clean, they are FABULOUS, and to top it off they are reasonable. Price and service is on point, and her salon is always very clean, minimal and classy. My schedule is unstable, so I tend to make last minute appointments, and Kelly has ALWAYS manage to make time to accommodate me. Not only that, but she replies back usually in less than 10 minutes. Very attentive to detail, very kind, and very professional.
