My wife and I decided to try this place because our friends told us about it and said they really liked the place. Long story short, after we were seated, It took us 20 minutes just to get a menu, the waitress all were too busy talking to all the regulars or locals in the place, to give us the time of day. 3 groups of 4 came in after we did, and all of them got thier menus, and drink orders and food orders placed before we finally had to grab someone cleaning the tables and ask her for a menu. We were there for 1 hour and 45 minutes just to get 1/2 lb boiled shrimp dinner, and a fried catfish dinner, no appitizers no dessert. The waitress never came back after she served us our food, to ask us if we needed refills. I carrier my empty tea glass to the register to get a refill. Our opinion is, if you are a local and they know you. You get fast friendly service, but they could care less if you are not a regular. Do not waist your time and come here and eat.... But this restaurant single handed changed my mind about Cajun food. I had the gator, sweet potatoes fries, and hush puppies. For dessert we got a white chocolate bread pudding. That was the best bread pudding I have every had. The service was amazing. One of the waitress brought me white chocolate sauce and explained I should dip the sweet potatoes in the sauce. Crazy how they will not tell you any form of the truth. 2 years in a row on my birthday. We go in and get on the list for a table and they say 1 hour wait and they said they will text us when our table is ready. We go back in to check a hour and 10 min after arrival. We ask how much longer before our table was ready and he say sometime before midnight what a Smart ass answer. Asked Yelp for some restaurants options while out at Lake Fork. Found Seth's and headed that way. I had the Grilled Shrimp Poboy, sweet potato fries and southern iced tea. My son had the fried alligator plate w Cajun potatoes w bacon n cheese. Poboy bread was great and the sandwich was on point! The alligator was gone in a flash and potatoes were great! We tried Seth's Lake Fork tonight for the first time. They were very busy at 7 o'clock with only 2 wait staff/cashiers/bus boys. Both were very helpful and attentive. The atmosphere is very laid back and it is BYOB. We Had the Wed. Special (burger and side), kids crawfish tails with sweet potato fries and fried pickles. Everything was very good. Our only negative comment is too much salt and red pepper on the battered items. However, the Seth's sauce was outstanding. read more

Wonderful food! Great experience with fast and friendly service. My husband family is from Quitman and they had never been there as it looks like a hole in the wall and they weren't huge Cajun food fans. While looking for a restaurant recently on a visit, I found the great recommendations on yelp so we decided to give it a try. Great decision on our part. My mother in law ordered a small plate of catfish and it was just how she liked it, crispy and thin as well the perfect temperature. My husband ordered a cheeseburger after eyeing one coming out of the kitchen. His words "this is the best burger I've ever had!" The sweet potato fries tasted like dessert-they were so good. I ordered a fried shrimp po boy. They can prepare it fried, grilled or blackened. So yummy! We will definitely be back. They also have take out. You can order ahead of time and grab and go. Great experience. They are closed on Mondays. Thursday night are all you can eat ribs. I think Friday night is all you can eat fish. Easily the best crawfish that I've had in Texas. I've eaten Cajun food all over the metroplex and from there to Galveston. It's all bland and non-traditional. Seth's is the exception. I highly recommend their boudin egg rolls and of course their crawfish. (I usually go with 6 pounds). It's so good I travel from DFW 2-4 times a month just to eat there. Very cramped and close quarters inside, hardly any room to walk, very loud and noisy, couldn't even hear others at out table talking. ... my hub and I ordered crab cakes for an appetizer, they were clearly frozen and had very little crab meat, For dinner, we ordered the seafood platter to share. Seth's staff is attentive and kind. We've tried several things here and have only had one meal we weren't crazy about which was the fried fish. They use a batter that we didn't prefer but honestly many were there having it and clearly liked it. The ribeye with shrimp is very good and can be shared. The large pork chop is very good as well. I would give this place more stars if I could! When we say, "go hungry," we mean on an empty stomach. The food here is amazingly delicious and they serve very hearty portions. My husband got the ribeye with fried crayfish. I got fried oysters. I ate nearly half his steak and he still couldn't finish it (and he wanted to finish it because it was so good). We struggled over whether or not to try the bread pudding because we heard it was the best. Someone overheard us and told us we would regret it if we didn't try it. We shared one. I wanted to lick the plate clean (Our waitress said that she's actually caught adults doing just that, but I refrained myself from going that far). This has been the best meal on our trip and probably the best meal that we've had in years. It was definitely the best bread pudding I've ever, EVER tasted. My husband said that it has ruined bread pudding for him because it set the standard way too high for any other bread pudding to ever come close. When they first opened, they had a rag tag building, sort of stuck together with plastic tarps and tape, but the service was good, the prices phenomenal, and the food portions were generous and tasty. On the next few times we visited, the building was more together, but the prices had gone up (understandable) and the portions were smaller. The last time we ate there, it cost over $16.00 for a platter we shared and the hush puppies were more like musket balls - overcooked and tasteless. Great Seafood. Casual Dining. Authentic Pricing. I kept looking for the pirogue out back, because I swore they must have some coon-ass Cajun chefs in the back. Ayyyeeeee!!! My Dad couldn't stop smiling nor sweating as he shoveled his way through the best Red Beans & Rice that I have ever tasted. World Famous Prejean's (Lafayette) isn't even close. Lake Fork Creek Steak & Seafood sources their seafood fresh from Louisiana, so it keeps the prices down (around $10 per person) and helps the environment. Don't worry about the spice, because they purposely keep most dishes mild. We started with Stuffed Crawfish Pistolettes (Fried French Rolls) and Sweet Potato Fries for appetizers. Then moved to Grilled Shrimp Salad, Crawfish Ettouffe, Red Beans and Rice, Crawfish Boudin (stuffed sausage), and Grilled Shrimp Po-Boys. Finished up with Chocolate Layer Cake, and we didn't want to leave. This onetime seafood shack created by a guy named "Possum" is quickly becoming a local legend. Planted up on a hill on the east side of Highway 37 south of Quitman, Possum's Shack has come to life under the new owner, Daniel Hudson. We spoke with Daniel (he makes rounds regularly around the 20'x60' dining room). We eventually found out that his mad creations came from years working in top chain restaurants, but the only thing "chain"esque about Lake Fork Creek is it's immediate success. The staff is knowledgeable, attractive, quick, and friendly (even for East Texas standards). They freely make suggestions and answer questions, not to mention they top the drinks off religiously. I've been to just about every seafood restaurant in East Texas, and I can easily say this is the only one I crave. In fact, Lake Fork Creek reminds me of Dudley's (Longview) in it's early days, but Dudley's doesn't come close to matching the authentic goodness of Lake Fork Creek Steak & Seafood. This place is good....so good I would drive here from Tyler, Dallas, Longview...anywhere but South Louisiana. Inside Tips: a. Get there early or you may not get a parking spot...and I mean around 6pm. It closes @ 8pm. b. Order the Po-Boy with sauce on the side unless you like your sandwich very saucy. c. You can get some dishes by the Quart, in case your plate isn't enough. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a long time and finally got the chance. I'm glad I did because now I can add it to my list of out of the way spots I'd like to frequent. First, the atmosphere. This is pretty much a shack in the middle of nowhere. They've got indoor and outdoor seating. If the weather is nice, I'd recommend outdoor. Inside you're pretty crammed together sitting at metal card tables. Actually takes some work getting in and out of your seat. The decor - plywood covered in license plates. The owner, Seth, works the door. He's a really nice guy and will tell you the truth in plain east texas English. If your party is dawdling in the parking lot and your table is ready he'll say, "Tell em to come on!" If you ask whether the ribeye or the filet is better, he'll tell you, "The ribeye is usually pretty good but the filet is always great because the cut of meat is more consistent." The wait staff is outstanding. You'll get better service here than you will at most high end places. They are nice and they are genuine. And they will tell you what's good and what they don't particularly care for. The food was mostly outstanding. The fried pickles and mushrooms were best ever. The fried green beans were really good. The pistolettos were not good. Crawfish dressing inside a sourdough roll. Very greasy. The ribeye was good but the filet was great (just like Seth said). The grilled shrimp were awesome. Well cooked and perfectly seasoned. The fried catfish and oysters were just okay. Not much flavor. I loved the gumbo. I'll pass on the onion rings. Breading was awful. Long story short, if you order right, you're in for a treat. If you order wrong, you may not come back. My advice, try lots of different things. We tried Seth's out based on a friend's recommendation and the reviews on Yelp. No crowd and immediately seated, very nice wait staff. We ordered the filet with blackened shrimp and a side salad, also ribeye with fried shrimp and special potatoes. We also ordered the boudin egg rolls and onion rings. I'd give the egg rolls and onion rings a C+, special potatoes a C+, side salad a C, the blackened and fried shrimp a B, filet cooked rare a B and the ribeye a D. The ribeye was suppose to be cooked medium rare, it was cooked medium well and was very tough, definitely select grade at best. We really were looking forward to the steaks, very disappointed.
