Rock solid family restaurant / diner near the center of Batavia, with a good sized dining area with 270 degrees of big windows. Big menu with ample breakfast, lunch, & dinner options. It was breakfast time so I opted for eggs with Souvlaki chicken & hasbtowns. All were good, tho' I learned I don't care for spinach in my eggs...luv spinach normally, but I guess just not with eggs! Philly cheese sandwich special was nice, albeit small for $~12. French toast was reportedly awesome, and fries above average. They also have good ice cream and dessert options. Service was excellent.

This restaurant has a huge menu with something for everyone. I ordered the chicken cranberry wrap and it was plentiful and good. I also had the tater tots. I loved the little fryer basket that they were served in. My husband had a breakfast croissant and hash browns. There was a ton of hashbrowns and he couldn't eat them all. The service was quick and the restaurant was quiet so you could carry on a dinner conversation. We will definitely come back if we are in the area.

Chicken souvlaki salad and BLT with fries sooo good! Their fries are one of the best I've had. And the creamy Greek dressing is amazing. Never had creamy Greek dressing anywhere before. Dessert is a must! Very nice waitress!

Greek souvlaki breakfast platter - eggs, chicken, home fries and toast. Plenty of protein.

Large menu, homemade desserts, and long booths. This spot screams classic diner. There is something for everyone. I went here with my boss and colleagues. We all have very different tastes and diets. I couldn't decide between breakfast and lunch, so I found the Greek souvlaki breakfast platter to be a perfect choice. It has eggs, chicken, home fries and toast; plenty of protein. The downside was the tzatziki was far from the real thing and the potatoes were cold. Unfortunately the service was a bit harsh, hence the lower rating. I felt like the waitress could never fully stop at our table. She cleared plates a bit too quickly. Perhaps she was overwhelmed with other tables. Overall a decent pick in Batavia.

"Settle down, an eat your peas and gravy, my boy Settle down, settle down my boy settle down" (Men At Work) Settler's was a solid traditional diner that really came in handy on our long rainy drive to Toronto. They have a very deep menu of pretty much anything you might think of, including 24-hour breakfast choices. We weren't super hungry, so we both went to their sandwich menu -Ham and Cheese with chips and pickles ($7.49) and a Zwiegel's Red Hot also with chips and pickles ($5.99). I added a cup of their Cream of Cauliflower soup ($2,99) and a Diet Pepsi (a hefty $3.49). The Cauliflower Soup was excellent- not too thick or rich -actually on the "light" side for a cream soup. I was kind of dissapointed with the Red Hot, it sure seemed on the bland side and I wonder if it a regular hot dog was cooked and served to me in error? Oh well, I was hungry and didn't make a big deal out of it. And I definitely felt ripped off over a very piggish $3.49 for a soft drink. Not sure we would come back, we were kind of hustled out of there with a check while we were still eating.

Settler's is a true diner experience but boy, is the food good. This will please all ages from kids to seniors. The staff was nice and you pay up front like a real diner. The home fries are so greek its an explosion of oregano and its perfect. The guy who owns it is on the menu with a greek last name so that adds up!

Came here with a friend for lunch after running some errands in Batavia and had a pleasant but mediocre experience. The food and service weren't exactly bad but both left much room for improvement. The avgolemono soup had noodles instead of rice which I've never seen before but it was good. The meat on my French Dip where the sandwich was cut was dry and crusty as if it had been premade and sitting exposed to the air for a long time. The au jus was not warm enough but did have good flavor. The onion rings tasted good but were room temperature. And my first cup of coffee had to be replaced because it tasted like pepper. I think the cup might not have been completely clean. The service was a little slow and at one point the server forgot altogether to bring me the coffee refill they promised. But they were polite and courteous and so was the person at the register so I'll give them points for that. Like I said it wasn't a bad experience but I don't know if I'd go there again. TL/DR: meh

A cute little diner. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. Even on a busy day, we were seated and served quickly. The food was great too. Some things I haven't seen at other places. According to the menu it looks like they're open of breakfast, lunch and dinner.

A very nice family restaurant. They had large portions which were very tasty. The baklava cheesecake for dessert was excellent.

When we walked in, another customer was raving about the food and telling us how much we'd enjoy it, which honestly made me feel a lot better about trying somewhere new in an unfamiliar area. The vibe is like a bar turned restaurant, dark and a little moody but not off-putting. My mom even got a cutesy leprechaun margarita, which made her smile. We started with 10 mild wings for the table, my sister got a Caesar salad and said the dressing tasted homemade, and this is where I tried French onion soup for the first time. It was okay, just really salty. My mom ended up finishing it, but I did like that the cheese layer wasn't too heavy. I'm still on the hunt for a French onion that really does it for me. I didn't get pictures of the mains, but my mom and I both got steak, I had mashed potatoes and she got a baked potato. My sister got the fettuccine alfredo and marveled at the flavor. She kept saying you can tell it's a local spot and not a chain just by the care put into it. My steak was good, nothing crazy but you really can't go wrong. The mashed potatoes were a little bland but still edible. My mom loved her meal and finished everything, while my sister and I both had leftovers. The only downside was the service. Our waitress wasn't very friendly, kind of impatient and a little passive aggressive, like we were bothering her just by being there. Given the lack of diversity in the area, it didn't completely surprise me, but it was still noticeable. We didn't let it ruin the night though. Overall we still enjoyed it and I'd go back if I'm ever in Batavia again. Reasonable prices, solid food. Taking everything into account, I'd give it a 6.9/10.

Oh how the mighty have fallen! I remember when this restaurant was opened by "Alex" and it was…read morefantastic. I knew Alex by mutual acquaintance and growing up in the same small town. He was a professional restaurateur who was paid to sit with celebrities at the posh places he worked in South Florida in the 70s. Whatever else is said, the man had high standards in food and dining experience. When he opened, and for years after the place was always packed and very popular. The food was high quality and your meal came with 2 sides, salad, hot bread and nice presentation at a reasonable price. Alex left the business several years ago and the current owner has run it for some time. Today was my first time back in several years. The outside looks dated and needs a refresh. I almost thought it was closed. It was 2:30pm on Saturday before Mother's Day and almost empty. I don't recall it ever not being full of people waiting at the bar for a table. Until today. The decor is ok although I don't care for the fringe lamps directly over your head. I was going to get ribs but decided on 10 oz prime rib ($32.00) comes with 1 side (I chose baked potato - only sour cream and butter is offered). No salad unless you pay extra! The warm bread was fine with two kinds of butter. My companion had the Kids spaghetti $(8.99). My prime rib came out and it looked about half the normal thickness it should be and in a puddle of juice. Even the server commented about why the kitchen did that. And it was warm, at best. No horseradish or other condiments were offered. No garnish on the plate. Just a thin slab of meat. The juice should have been in a separate cup. But the small baked potato was steaming hot! My companion had a giant pile of spaghetti with about a 1/4 cup of sauce on top! Too little for the mound of spaghetti. And it looked like cheap jar sauce and no meatballs. She didn't mind but I wasn't thrilled. And her fountain drink did not come with the meal ($3.99)! I had a lavender lemon drop martini that was ok. ($10). Ultimately the food is mediocre and it feels like they are cutting corners to keep prices down. But that means it's no longer the special place it used to be. Sad.

The food came out extremely slow. We waited for 45 minutes, for a table of 5. There were only a few people there at the time. She offered to box up the food since we spent so much time waiting we had to leave. The next problem was our food was very inconsistent. My sister had the junk plate and my son had the junk fries and they both loved their food. My sister said it was one of the better "garbage plate" type meals she's had. Me and my mom not as good. My mom said the soup was lacking any flavor and was not good at all. The main problem with our meals was we both had the egg and olive sandwich. Tasted good until at different times we both bit into egg shells. Happened more than once to the point I didn't want to eat anymore because I didn't know to expect an eggshell. Therefore both me and my mom could not finish our meals. I posted a pic so you can see it's a big piece of shell.
