We had a delicious New Year's Eve dinner at the new Sunny's. We chose the special- pan seared scallops, which were perfectly done- in a basil pesto linguine with sun-dried tomatoes and lemon. It was delicious! We also had a beef tenderloin, perfectly seared with so much flavor with twin lobster tails and twice baked mashed potato. All was amazing! Portion size is great, great! Service was wonderful too!

Pricy, food was ok but I heard they stole recipes from Red Osier, not something I'd want to support.

When we walked in, another customer was raving about the food and telling us how much we'd enjoy it, which honestly made me feel a lot better about trying somewhere new in an unfamiliar area. The vibe is like a bar turned restaurant, dark and a little moody but not off-putting. My mom even got a cutesy leprechaun margarita, which made her smile. We started with 10 mild wings for the table, my sister got a Caesar salad and said the dressing tasted homemade, and this is where I tried French onion soup for the first time. It was okay, just really salty. My mom ended up finishing it, but I did like that the cheese layer wasn't too heavy. I'm still on the hunt for a French onion that really does it for me. I didn't get pictures of the mains, but my mom and I both got steak, I had mashed potatoes and she got a baked potato. My sister got the fettuccine alfredo and marveled at the flavor. She kept saying you can tell it's a local spot and not a chain just by the care put into it. My steak was good, nothing crazy but you really can't go wrong. The mashed potatoes were a little bland but still edible. My mom loved her meal and finished everything, while my sister and I both had leftovers. The only downside was the service. Our waitress wasn't very friendly, kind of impatient and a little passive aggressive, like we were bothering her just by being there. Given the lack of diversity in the area, it didn't completely surprise me, but it was still noticeable. We didn't let it ruin the night though. Overall we still enjoyed it and I'd go back if I'm ever in Batavia again. Reasonable prices, solid food. Taking everything into account, I'd give it a 6.9/10.

Oh how the mighty have fallen! I remember when this restaurant was opened by "Alex" and it was…read morefantastic. I knew Alex by mutual acquaintance and growing up in the same small town. He was a professional restaurateur who was paid to sit with celebrities at the posh places he worked in South Florida in the 70s. Whatever else is said, the man had high standards in food and dining experience. When he opened, and for years after the place was always packed and very popular. The food was high quality and your meal came with 2 sides, salad, hot bread and nice presentation at a reasonable price. Alex left the business several years ago and the current owner has run it for some time. Today was my first time back in several years. The outside looks dated and needs a refresh. I almost thought it was closed. It was 2:30pm on Saturday before Mother's Day and almost empty. I don't recall it ever not being full of people waiting at the bar for a table. Until today. The decor is ok although I don't care for the fringe lamps directly over your head. I was going to get ribs but decided on 10 oz prime rib ($32.00) comes with 1 side (I chose baked potato - only sour cream and butter is offered). No salad unless you pay extra! The warm bread was fine with two kinds of butter. My companion had the Kids spaghetti $(8.99). My prime rib came out and it looked about half the normal thickness it should be and in a puddle of juice. Even the server commented about why the kitchen did that. And it was warm, at best. No horseradish or other condiments were offered. No garnish on the plate. Just a thin slab of meat. The juice should have been in a separate cup. But the small baked potato was steaming hot! My companion had a giant pile of spaghetti with about a 1/4 cup of sauce on top! Too little for the mound of spaghetti. And it looked like cheap jar sauce and no meatballs. She didn't mind but I wasn't thrilled. And her fountain drink did not come with the meal ($3.99)! I had a lavender lemon drop martini that was ok. ($10). Ultimately the food is mediocre and it feels like they are cutting corners to keep prices down. But that means it's no longer the special place it used to be. Sad.

The main reason is because this location doesn't fry the fish or hush puppies until you order it. You might have to wait a couple minutes longer, but the LJS items are always hot and fresh when they hand me my bag. I've eaten at locations from across the country. From Texas to New York and i can say with confidence that not all LJS serve their food made to order. For this i will continue to stop in every time i go through Batavia

My fam and I weren't far from this location, so we decided to stop here this particular Monday afternoon. The lady at the front was super sweet and she told us this location was the last one in New York State. Sadly, I saw why :( Food: 4/10 (only because my niece ordered from the KFC side and her food was fine), customer service 8/10. We ordered 3 different meals with fish, chicken, fries, hushpuppies, & coleslaw. The best thing we ate there was the hushpuppies. The fish came out very dark and greasy. It was inedible, so we took it back to the counter. The lady apologized and said they've been having issues with the fryer. They made us new fish and it was much lighter and fresher. (We dined in, so my question is, how are you even comfortable serving something like this when you see exactly what we see!!). But, the WORST part was the coleslaw. When you use the spoon to pick up a bite, it was "stringy" and "slimy". Never have I ever seen that consistency before. My 7 year old nephew said "yum, that's looks so cheesy". We smelled it, and it had a bit of a sour smell to it. We're almost finished, so we weren't even going to bother taking it back....UNTIL another customer we saw order left and came back inside to tell them her coleslaw was slimy. She was actually demonstrating with a spoon so the worker could see, and the worker was nonchalant and "yeah, that's just how it is, we make it fresh every morning". I was appalled and couldn't sit there quiet any longer. So i went to the counter with my two orders of coleslaw and agreed with the customer that mine was also stringy, had a slight odor and didn't taste good. That's when the worker finally offered us both different sides. I dont want to see the LJS brand go away. And my prior experiences have never been like this. The people are friendly, the restaurant was clean...but the food quality, terrible. Hopefully they make some changes to stay in business.

We actually had made a reservation for 630pm, but they let us move it up to 530pm without a problem. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice, with a rustic feel to it. I will say, the service was pretty slow throughout the night, but when we did the servers were attentive. For starters, we ordered the prime rib potato skins and mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks seemed like your run of the mill mozzarella sticks, not bad but not great. The flavor of the prime rib potato skins was pretty good! The only downfall was that they were like warm, and I wish they were hot. The horseradish sauce that came with the potato skins was absolutely delicious. For the next course, I ordered a cup of the cream of broccoli soup, my wife ordered the Caesar salad, my mom ordered the wedge salad, and my dad ordered the lobster bisque. My cream of broccoli soup was very delicious, I just added a dash of pepper for a little hint of spice. The Caesar salad is made table side, which is a nice touch. The salad had a good flavor and the homemade croutons were very good. My mom's salad was absolutely ginormous, like literally a whole half of a head of lettuce. My dad said he really enjoyed his soup, and it wasn't too fishy tasting as some lobster bisque can be. For dinner I ordered the meatball Parmesan special which was pretty good. The meatballs and red sauce were seasoned very well. The only downfall was that my pasta was cooked a little too long, so it was mushy. My wife ordered the chicken Parmesan, and had the same problem with her pasta. She also said that the breading of the chicken parm was mushy, and had an eggy flavor. My mom ordered the filet mignon, which was cooked well and seasoned well. My dad ordered the chicken oscar, and had a little mishap where the server thought he ordered the chicken osier. The staff was good though and had the correct dish cooked and packaged to go for him, and took the meal off the check. Overall our dinner was good here, it was mainly the slow service and some of the details such as the pasta being mushy that bought me to a 3 star rating.
