This is a hard review for me to write, because I need to take everything into context. For example, If I am a food snob who eats at Michelin 5-star restaurants across the world, everything else would be 0s. So, to put the Country Kitchen up against the restaurants I usually review in Rochester, Buffalo and along my travels, I'd probably likewise rate it pretty low. So with that being said, I am going to approach this in one of the following 3 contexts: 1.) I'm local to the area and my options around me around limited. 2.) I either spent the day or am about to enter Letchworth State Park or Silver Lake and need a hearty meal or 3.) I chose to venture out of a Day trip from the city. I cannot say I know what the competition is like. I know of a few good restaurants in Mount Morris, Avon, Geneseo, etc. I'll just say that we were in town for the Chalk Art festival and in hindsight, we should've gone with the Poutine food truck. Let's get to the experience... 5 of us went inside to dine, leaving the festival scene outside. The place is a large family style restaurant that is showing its age. It can definitely use a modern makeover. The dingy drop ceilings held up by gold framing would've been a wow factor... in 1985. The specials were on two white boards hanging on the far wall in small handwriting. Especially awkward was that they were hanging directly over occupied tables! So I walked up to the table, excused myself and said "Sorry, I'm reading the specials on the board above you." They looked understandably annoyed. The main menu is typical diner food, but something about how it looked like it was printed on Print Shop Pro, also from 1985, made it really hard on the eyes to figure it all out. We ordered an appetizer sampler platter and taco logs, both of which were a hit for the family. The entrees were good sized and tasted good, but the portions on the sides were small. It was OK for us because we gorged ourselves on appetizers. My wife did not eat any appetizers and felt shortchanged on her fries (which we paid extra for because they were not included in her meal. Overall, the food was GOOD, albeit plain. The service was good, no complaints there. The restrooms were scary. Like, I'd should've used the festival pot-a-potty outside scary. Restrooms need a total gut job. So if this was Greece, I'd give it 1 or 2 stars. Taking everything into context, especially location and competition and the fact that it was not entirely a horrible experience, I'll be generous and give it a 3. Probably not someplace we'd come back to until we've tried the competition first. read more

First impression walking in the door there was a weird smell. I almost turned around but thought maybe it's just the smell of what they use to clean? Second impression, after being there a few times, don't expect a coffee warm up until they bring your food, Guess who didn't order coffee the second time they went..Me.. so already they have lost my beverage business...The food is actually okay, a saving grace. I felt awful for the couple who drove up on their bikes, parked, came in and sat at the table next to us. We just got our food and refills and the server went into the back to write the special board so there they sat, at a dirty table, not acknowledged by the other server in the restaurant, and there is a bell on the door, so no reason not to check who came in. Not my table, not my problem attitude that kills so many restaurants that have the food to make it, but the servers don't have the training to keep the business going. Eventually after about five minutes or so the customers, locals too, working the farmers market, walked out. Doubt they will be talking the place up. There was one other table besides us with people so it wasn't as if they were slammed. You're not going to get anything in a hurry here either so if you're in a rush skip it. To the other reviewer who was asking about the competition in town ..For a full breakfast? ..Nill... tried the other breakfast restaurant in town the previous week... I was brought burnt bacon with my French toast and the server asked me if said burnt bacon was okay with me or did I want new bacon. I figured it would take another hour or so for new bacon to be cooked since the bacon on my plate looked at least three or four days old and I wasn't prepared to camp so...Anyway, she didn't offer to remove the burnt bacon from my bill, when it just sat there on the plate so not going back there again..You can put up with lousy service to get good food and kinda be amused with how low you can allow your expectations to go to not have to cook yourself..but bad food and servers who notice and serve it anyway..Afraid to tell the kitchen they aren't taking out said problem?...no thanks.. read more

Absolutely the best and most reasonably priced breakfast around, period!!! Outstanding service also!!!

First off this place has great location for being such a small town. The inside smells a little weird but it's not to bad, it just takes a few minutes to get used to. The menu was quite large and had a large variety of food inside of it including breakfast lunch dinner and dessert. They also have a specialty pizza section that has some pretty intriguing styles on there including a Philly cheesesteak pizza. The waitress greeted us within 3 minutes of our arrival. She promptly brought us our drinks and took our orders. I ordered the country fried steak. It took at least 20 minutes to get our food and when it arrived it was slightly cold. The portions were large but not that great. The country fried steak wasn't pounded out thin it was left like a regular steak you would get for dinner just country fried. 2 of the other party members received cold food. All in all it was ok but I wouldn't return. But great prices. read more

Nice place for a quick eat. Food was good. Big portion. Waitress was very nice. The night we went was cold, so not too many customers. Waiting time for food is reasonable. Will visit again if we are in town. read more

OMG!!! Where to start? First off the service is so genuinely nice and friendly! Our server was the only one on duty and still had time to check on us and fill our coffee. The food is so good and freshly made. On top of that, it's super duper affordable. Definitely recommend this place for anyone! If you're at letchworth falls and get hungry, especially breakfast. Visited this restaurant several times for breakfast. I always had the bagel sandwich. It is huge and you can get it with bacon, ham, or sausage. It always has arrived hot and freshly prepared. With coffee the bill comes to less than $5. The service always has been prompt and courteous. There is a great view of Main Street and all the goings on in Perry out the front windows. read more

Stopped in here randomly after a long day exploring Letchworth State Park and we are so impressed. Awesome prices for absolutely delicious food. We were starving and got appetizers and multiple dishes to share and everything was amazing. Even the milkshake was one of the best I've ever had! My boyfriend now thinks everyone should try the garbage plate at least once in their life. We live 400 miles away and definitely will return every time we are in the area. read more
