We had dinner here last night, Ryleigh was our fantastic server! She was friendly, efficient and funny. It was a busy Friday so I recommend reservations. The 3 ladies at the check-in desk didn't communicate well - they were pretty inefficient at checking reservations and seating people. There was a line and people without a reservation got seated before people that were there for an anniversary, very chaotic. Once seated all went smoothly. We ordered salads with dinner as there were no a la carte vegetable options. Entrees are served with a vegetable medley of squash but they were very overcooked & mushy so I'm glad we had salad. The rolls were delicious as were our dinners. The art on the wall at our table had noticeable food splatters on it, not sure how long they have been there, but not appetizing to look at. It was not very busy so it was quiet and we were not rushed through the meal, in fact I do wish the server came around more often with it not being busy. The prices are very reasonable for the portion sizes but I wish salad would be included with the dinner, even if the prices were higher because it is just annoying to always have to order and pay for things à la carte. We came for my birthday and the Kansas concert and I was very disappointed in the service and the food. The food came out very late and was cold and the service was slow and barely at our table. Even after asking to see our server it took upwards of 15 minutes for Red to come over. The food tasted good but it was cold and it was not made as requested. My mother in law asked the server at least three times to heat up her food and to correct what was wrong and it either took very long and or it was still cold. Very displeasing The ambiance was okay. It wasn't too crowded or that busy. The lighting was good. No natural lighting rather all ceiling lights. Each time our waiter, Red, has made sure we were well taken care of. When in this area we seek out this largely due to the excellent service. I have been to Fortune's a few times for holiday-related meal and have been very happy with the experiences! I have been here for meals during Easter 2023 and Thanksgiving 2023, as well as a one-off Friday fish fry, with family and each experience was great. We have always had a reservation when dining here, which makes for simple, smooth experience. The staff have always been courteous, friendly, making sure we were taken care of throughout our meals. It is pretty spacious in the dining area and is surprisingly isolated from the Batavia Downs casino - I did not hear any noises of the machines from the casino floor. The food itself is very good with generous portions. You will most likely be taking some of your meal home (unless you have a big appetite, like me haha). As for prices, they seem high, but like I said earlier, you get very generous portions and the quality of food is good! I've been here a lot of times. I really miss their warm bread loaves and olive garden style salads. I know things and costs have changed. Went with a large party for Mom's birthday. Had a nice private room. Server was great. My biggest beef with the whole place is that they won't do individual checks, and to top it off, they add gratuity on your bill. This is coming from a waitress of over 40 years. Stop that! I earn my tips, and people don't like it. ( ask around). Especial 20 %. I"ve left way more if I love a server, and way less if I don't. It shouldn't be required. Also, they charge to cut a cake...seriously? after charging a 20% tip. nope. I'll cut and serve my own. OVertipping society has to stop somewhare. Food is very good. Very disappointed! We saw that this was rated in the top 20 restaurants in WNY. We must have been in the wrong place! Somebody must know somebody! The atmosphere is nice but no way is the food 5 star. They advertise as Italian steak house. My husband had the lasagna which he was not at all impressed with and I had the pork chops. They were very over done and dry. The baked potato tasted like it had been made 2 days before and reheated. The best part of the whole thing was the peach compote they served with the chops. Was disappointed the Sinatra room was closed to the general public for a Rolling Stones package they offer ... this is the room that overlooks the track. We missed the first couple of races eating. The restaurant was clean and nice! Our server Tammi was such a delight! My friend ordered the chicken French and loved his food. I had some of his because my portion was so small I was still hungry. I ordered the 6oz filet mignon which came out only about 3oz so I was still pretty hungry. The mashed potatoes and gravy were great! But for $45 it just wasn't enough food. Nice restaurant steps from the casino floor. We were seated in the Sinatra room which really was ok. Not as nice as the main dining room. We were seated near the window. It would be a perfect spot when there is a horse race. It was a bit chilly and I asked to move away from window as I saw an open table in the other room. I was told there was not a table. Well that empty table stayed empty the whole time we ate dinner and even when we left. I was a bit disappointed. I ordered French onion soup as I figured it would warm me up. It didn't really have much of a taste. Shrimp cocktail was good. My dinner was always very good and tasty. The bread was so good with the garlic butter. Service was great. My wife and I have been customers of Fortunes restaurant for many years. However, this past week we went in to have dinner. My wife had eaten earlier so she was not really hungry, but I was quite hungry. We sat down at the booth. The waitress came over. I said I was ready to order and told her what I would like. She asked me if I wanted a salad. I asked if a salad come with the meal? I then asked my wife if she would like the salad? The waitress replied if you're going to share the meal, I have to charge $6.00. I was a bit put back by that because all I did was offer to give my wife my salad. I can understand if we were splitting the actual meal, where she had to use another plate. But all I did was offer to give my wife the salad that came with my meal. The waitress said I still have to charge you the extra $6.00 Well, I got a little upset at this policy. Sadly, I don't plan to go back there anymore. Fantastic dinner spot! Everything we had was delicious! Drinks - LOVE that they have N.Y. wines on the menu. Wish they had more. Drinks from the bar also take longer because the bar is somewhere else(?). Service - Our waitress was friendly and quick. She came over regularly to see if we needed anything. Atmosphere - Romantic, dim lighting, lots of Sinatra and big band music playing. You could dress nice if you'd like, but it's not required. We wore jeans and nice tops. Food is not objectionable. Like airplane food on a good day. Service is nervous. The servers are worried if they make a mistake they will be fired. Friday night my wife and I took two elderly relatives for dinner. Our guests normally share one meal and add a side. When the man ordered soup and mentioned he would share his wife's entree our server said, "oh I can't I unhear that. We are all on camera. I'll be fired if I don't charge you a $6.00 split fee." I encouraged the server to send the manager over, who explained in her own way the restaurant has an opportunity cost by the loss of an entree sale and must recoup with the split charge. I asked her if she was prepared to lose my families' business for life for six dollars and she indicated that she saw no problem with this. She wanted, I think, to shame us into accepting this silly and somewhat arbitrary charge. Incidentally our meal was $105.00 for four people, including the split charge. Shame indeed. I am engaged to this issue because of the silly policy, and the culture of fear upper management has created so that the employees don't enjoy their jobs and the customers don't enjoy their meals.
