I had an appointment for a hair removal. When I made a reservation, I had to call in to make a change to come in few days earlier. The staff on the phone, male, told me the earliest they can schedule was at least 2 days from the day I made the appointment since I was a new client. So I went with the earliest date and time that was available for me and made my appointment for that date. On the day of, I came in and the front desk staff tells me, "oh your appointment was cancelled because it's too soon for the technician to see you". I had already driven for 30min to get here, took time out from my work. They had the time to call me but pretty much waited until I got there in person to tell me that they cannot. I left right away because I didn't want to waste more time away from work. Once I came back home, I called the office asking why they couldn't give me a call sooner that they cannot have me in. Their answer: "we had a technical issue so we couldn't call". Such BS. Then use your personal mobile or something to call your client. I pretty much cancelled my appointment on the spot, never returning. Clearly, the staff here are not well trained. One staff saying one thing, and the other staff telling me different response. I ended up going to a different laser removal business and they were able to have me in the day of so I don't know what their deal is not letting new clients to come in two days later from the date you make an appointment. I've done it before so knew about the pain level but the nurse Melanie was very knowledgeable and informative so if you have any questions she can definitely answer it for you. First laser sessions is free (normally $79) and they apply it when you check out. They're also doing free laser facials so I booked it for my next session. Absolute worst experience at this place. The only positive thing I can say is that the front desk staff and the nurses who actually perform the laser treatments are wonderful. Unfortunately, the office manager, Cody, is rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. I have been a patient here for almost a year and am very familiar with the cancellation and no-show policy. For context, I work in medicine as an Advanced Practice Provider and understand the importance of safety protocols, patient screening, and appropriate clinical decision-making. Earlier this year, I had a cancellation voucher that was used when the office refused to perform my laser treatment because I had previously taken antibiotics. At that point, I had already been off the medication for two weeks. As a medical provider, I am well aware of which antibiotics can cause photosensitivity and increase the risk of complications with laser treatments. The antibiotic I had taken is not known to cause photosensitivity, yet they still refused to perform the treatment and used my cancellation voucher. Looking back, I feel as though I was penalized for being honest about my medical history when I should have never been put in that position in the first place. On the day of my most recent appointment, I rushed from work to make it on time. My surgical case ran a little late, but I still made every effort to get there. Once I arrived and removed my makeup, I noticed my face was extremely red and covered in a rash. Given the condition of my skin, I did not feel it was safe or appropriate to proceed with a laser treatment. Despite physically showing up for my appointment and being present in the office, I was still charged a cancellation fee for a treatment that was never performed. When I spoke with Cody about the situation, he repeatedly hid behind the 48-hour cancellation policy rather than addressing the actual circumstances. There was no attempt to listen, use common sense, or show any empathy. Instead, the conversation felt dismissive and confrontational from the start. Policies exist for people who simply don't show up or cancel at the last minute for convenience--not for patients who are physically present but have a legitimate medical reason not to undergo treatment. To make matters worse, I was also scheduled for a Brazilian treatment and had unexpectedly started my period. Upon arrival, I informed the staff that I did not want to proceed because I was actively bleeding during work ALL DAY. During my conversation with Cody, he insisted they could have still performed the treatment and claimed he knew exactly what that situation was like. As a male office manager, that comment came across as dismissive and inappropriate. Rather than listening to a patient's concerns and respecting her comfort level, he seemed more focused on defending the policy than providing reasonable customer service. What is most frustrating is that I did everything I was supposed to do. I showed up for my appointment, I was honest about my medical history, I communicated concerns about my skin condition, and I acted responsibly by not proceeding with a treatment that could have potentially irritated an already inflamed rash. Yet somehow I was still penalized. The front desk staff and nurses have always been kind and professional, and they are the only reason I continued coming here. However, the way this situation was handled by management was unacceptable. Cody's communication style is rude, dismissive, and lacking in basic customer service skills. Rather than working toward a reasonable solution, he seemed determined to enforce a policy without considering the actual facts of the situation. I have been going to SEV for laser facials every month since July, and my experience has always been great. The nurses were always very informative, and took their time talking me through each step they were taking which I appreciated. However, my experience yesterday was horrible and I was left with a burn on my forehead from the laser facial. The nurse seemed very rushed and careless. She forgot a few steps (taping my eyebrows and placing gauze under the eye shields). She apologized for forgetting but also made an excuse stating that sometimes it is hard to remember everything and that nurses will often miss steps. Which from my experience had not been the case up until yesterday. With that said, I understand there are times when you may forget something and that's ok. However, waking up and noticing the burn on my forehead confirmed the carelessness during the procedure and made me reluctant to go back because I don't ever want to get the same nurse.
