Mindy is the best! A friend recommended her more than 15 years ago for a Brazilian sugar wax, and I've also seen her for a facial. I love Mindy! I don't even know where to begin. To start off with my favorite part, she is VERY thorough! Unfortunately, I have been to a few other sugaring places when I needed an appointment last minute, but I was not satisfied because there was always still hair that I had to remove once I got home with either a razor (which defeats the purpose of waxing) or tweezers. I told myself that I will never go to anyone else again. Mindy was great! I went in for a Brazilian Sugar and a facial. I've been to many sugaring places trying to find a place I like, and Mindy is who I will stick with! She cleanses the area first (very important) for those who aren't used to that it is a key step before sugaring. Her method is definitely NOT as painful as other places I've been to. Her technique is meticulous, not leaving a single hair behind. Now, for facial she was amazing! I have pretty "normal" skin, so I just needed some extra TLC. Wow. It's definitely different! So, I'm just gunna say that I'm no expert in these things because the 2nd brazlilian (done by another with regular wax) I got literally pulled the skin off of my hoo-ha...and we'll just say I got a little taken aback by the experience. Apparently, I'm one of those people who has thin skin. I wasn't going to put myself through another traumatic experience, but I stumbled upon Mindy and sugar waxing. Reading through some reviews, it says that sugar waxing adheres to the hair only...not the skin. We'll see about that. As awkward as one might think the prep is, she does clean you (which is new for me) with a wet paper towel (probably with some soap), dries you, then dusts you with baby powder. I thought it was going to be really weird, but she does it so briskly, you kinda get over it. Yep, the pulling that others have talked about is very true. She said that you put on the sugar wax (which is made of sugar, lemon, herbal extracts and water) and as it's pastes it on you it's kinda pulling the hair out one way, and then when she lets her rip, she does it the other way. I must say, this technique is actually much more successful for getting out *everything*. The sugar i thought would be more like wax, but it's really not. Think of those Dessert Wars on the Food Network channel and you know when those pastry chefs are stretching that thick, pliable piece of sugar into cool shapes and swirls? That's what it looked like to me. It's a little warm when she puts it on you, but that's because it's right out of the microwave (really), but doesn't burn. I forgot to take my advil before I went, and I could only imagine what pain I was going to put myself through. It did hurt, (not going to lie), but my skin wasn't even red!! The tough part about brazilians is not the back...that's easy. It's the damn front that makes you cringe a little. I don't know if I can keep up this kind of haircut (pain, and money), but if I do, for SURE i'm going to do sugar waxing. Not that Mindy needs another excellent review, but when something is good, you want to rave about it! I've never had a brazilian ( wax or sugaring) but wanted something hassle free for a longer duration than the typical shave for an upcoming trip. I called and text Mindy for an appointment almost 3 weeks in advance, yet her vmail said she was on vacation. Mindy got back to me within a week to confirm an appointment - while on vacation!! That impressed me right there. Mindy cleans you, and although other reviewers found it odd, I was glad she made sure everything was sanitary. Since it was my first time she told me how the process works, and what to expect; including parts where I should take a deep breath and let it out as she pulled. Mindy conversed throughout, which kept my mind occupied, and worked fast ( 45 minutes from walking in the front door to walking out). She was very thorough - following up with tweezers as needed - and put a cooling gel on after. I was quite surprised that it didn't hurt as bad as I had anticipated ( no pain OTC taken). This process is completely done by hand- no double dipping, very professional, and great overall experience. For somethings, like this, price doesn't matter if the job is done well - $45 + tip was easily worth it! read more

Been going to Mindy for brazilian sugaring for over year now, just finally writing a review. PROS: Comfortable setting. Thorough pre-cleanse. Flawless work. (She gets every stray hair) Sugaring leaves my skin feeling smoooooth. Not very many ingrown hairs when it starts to grow back. CONS: The slow application of the sugar is more painful than the ripping of it but that's probably more about my pain tolerance in certain areas. I think the most important thing in reviews are the details but if you want the short sweet version the answer is: Yes I would recommend Mindy. She is thorough, clean, and her prices are reasonable. Longer version if you are interested in the details: The place was easy to find b/c Mindy had mentioned to me ahead of time that shes in the same office as the MedSpa business. I was looking to find a wax place closer to my house and went on Yelp. Mindy had lots of raving reviews and so I decided to give her a try. Texting is better to make your appointment so that she can respond to you in between clients. Her contact number on here does accept text messaging. As many reviewers said the place is clean, professional, and is located inside a medical office where they do many other kinds of beauty treatments. Anyhow I was here for a Brazilian wax which means that yes you need to take off all clothing from the waist down. I explained to Mindy that this was my first "sugaring" experience as I am mainly used to getting waxed with traditional strip and hard wax. She said its basically the same thing except with the sugar paste it just sticks to your hair and not your skin. Also strips are not used in this method. Anyhow she proceeds to cleans the area to be waxed with mild soap and water explaining that any body and/hair oil or moisturizers need be completely removed so that the paste can adhere to the hair properly. I was honestly weird-ed out by this b/c I have never gone to waxing a place where they start off with a cleaning down there. Even though I mentioned that I had taken a shower right before coming to my appointment. She said its just good to pre-wash the area b/c many people use all kinds of chemicals (lotions, powders, etc) on their bodies. Now that she mentioned it I had to agree b/c after my shower I had lathered up on the lotion. Anyhow I quickly got over my embarrassment and reminded myself that this is just like going to the doctors and I am sure this is something she does quite regularly (and Mindy was very professional by the way) I was paper towel dried, and we proceeded with the sugar paste application. She applied a large dollop of the paste and then spread is across my skin. This is where it started to pull and pinch a lot! To be completely honest it hurts more than waxing b/c it pulls off smaller sections than with a strip wax method that pulls off larger amounts. I must admit to saying "OUCH rather loudly" a few times. However Mindy kept up good conversation so I wasn't focused all on the pulling and pinching. Once you are fully waxed she then goes over the area with a tweezer to make sure that every hair has been pulled and you are as smooth as a baby's butt. She also applied a nice cooling aloe toner to the area afterwards which soothed away any minor redness or discomfort. More than anything Mindy was very thorough which I appreciated. She was super sweet too and gave me a discount b/c I am a first time customer. Her regular prices range from $45-60 depending on how much hair there is to work on. I wax regularly so I did not have a ton of hair to begin with. Cost was $40 with the discount. read more

Love Mindy!! Sugaring is definitely a different way to get your hair removed. Mindy uses a huge lump of a thick, almost honey-like mixture to roll onto your skin and then pull off the hair (no paper/cloth strips!) One huge pro to this--it's water soluble so you don't have to use a ton of oil to get all of that leftover wax off your skin!!! HUGE PLUS in my book. It really gets the root out! She showed me the hairs in the first pull and it was amazing. I always get a ton of breakage with regular waxing so this was great. It didn't hurt until she got to the really sensitive areas closer to the vajayjay. The other areas just felt like tugging (but I also have a high pain tolerance). I wouldn't recommend it to someone who has a huge bush of hair because I could imagine the tugging being really painful with a LOT of hair, but if you're someone who gets waxed regularly, Mindy and sugaring are a huge breath of fresh air! read more

I found my new wax girl! Mindy was so welcoming and made my experience comfortable. I got a Brazilian and underarm wax (sugaring), and she took her time and got every single hair out. Mindy is very sweet. She was totally professional and definitely knew what she was doing! I went for a brazilian wax. The technique was interesting, and she's been doing it for over 20 years. I'm not quite sure if I'm sold on the sugar technique (it pulled a lot!), but I may still try it out again. I normally get my bikini area waxed in Eagle Rock with the hard wax technique which is less painful in my opinion. Nevertheless, I'm clean and hairless for another month or so thanks to Mindy! I read all the reviews before I booked an appointment with Mindy. I was really hopeful and interested that this experience would be better than regular waxing, unfortunately it wasn't. As everyone mentioned, her place is located in another medical center. It was clean and simple. Mindy was ok... I expected her to be talkative, sweet, and nice as everyone mentioned on their reviews. Apparently she talks everyone through the process, especially when she's pulling the wax off which calms people down. She must have been having an off day because she was SUPER QUIET the whole time. I tried making small talk and she would respond, but she didn't make an attempt to talk to me or ask me any questions. All other wax places I've been to, they make an attempt to talk to me about anything, random things just so I'm not focused on the pain of the waxing. But no.... nothing with Mindy.... I didn't feel completely comfortable as it was dead silent other than the ambiance music playing in the background. Mindy's technique is interesting with the sugaring. She wears gloves the whole time. When you lay down, she cleans you down there, which is really interesting albeit she was a bit rough when it came to cleaning. I showered before I went and was sure to thoroughly clean and she said she cleans all clients before the sugaring process. I just wish she was more gentle with it! As for the waxing... OMG, it was painful! Then again, it was months since I've gotten waxed, but gosh.... In my opinion, it was more painful than regular waxing. There's a lot of pulling of the skin because the sugar is thick and she spreads it across a wide area. So you feel your hair pulling in one direction, then quickly yanked to the other direction. It just felt like a prolonged pain. She uses one big dollop of sugar for the whole area, I'm not sure, but I think I saw her get more wax during the process, but I didn't see her change gloves when she scooped it. After she finished, she goes over the entire area with a tweezer and needle in case there's any ingrown hair. I appreciate the thoroughness of her technique as I have yet found a place that used tweezers to ensure everything was taken off. At the end, she rubs a clear gel onto the area and it's all over. She walks you out of her office, but not out the other door, not the main building one. All other places I've been to they've been courteous enough to walk me out. Cost = $45 + $5 Tip = $50 = Too expensive for me. Total time = 25 minutes. In the end, it was just too expensive for me. I feel I was paying for a different experience and thoroughness, but it was just too rough, too painful, and Mindy was just ok, aforementioned, I just didn't get the friendly vibe that everyone else on here got which disappointed me. I probably won't go back and just stick to my regular waxing place even though they're not as thorough, but they're friendly, talkative, and they make more an effort to make me feel comfortable, and it's $35 + $5 tip = $40. I'd rather save the extra $10 from now on and skimp on the thoroughness. read more

Being a female .... An LA female ... Comes with many maintenance to MAINTAIN our goods. AM I RIGHT? Grooming from every angle, dieting, fashion, it's tough being a girl in the city. Lol. With that said, we have to be sure and certain the service that we are getting are legit and sanitary. This prevents infection which will cause more future problems oy. Mindy handles her work in a very sanitary procedure. She uses gloves, washes her hands, wipes you from front to back (if you're getting your hooha wax/sugared down there). She'll explain to you the difference between a Brazilian wax and sugaring. They're both painful yes. No pain, no gain. With sugaring I don't feel the aftershock-fire pain. AND it takes longer for my hair to grow back AND The hairs are finer. Brazilian didnt do that for me for some reason. Mindy is very nurturing. Her rate is based on how hairy you are. Sugar Brazilian can range from $45- $75. When I rotated in my OB rotation, boy, some ladies are hairy! If your hooha is around the mon pubis and labia area - expect low forties. If your hooha is covered all front, the groin, the upper thighs, your butt cheeks, (as a nurse I've seen ladies with this level of hairyness) expect a higher rate for more work. I encourage ladies to get your hooha cleaned (sugared) you feel so much cleaner! Esp during the time of the month! You know your va jay jay odor is collected in your pubic hair right? Get rid of it! I love MINDY! i don't live in orange county anymore, but i use to go to her religiously every 5 weeks. I read all the reviews on Yelp and decided to visit Mindy for a Brazilian bikini wax. I was very impressed and she has 19 years of experience. I had never had hair removal with sugaring and let me tell you it is certainly less painful than regular waxing. It still stings but not as much. Your skin doesn't feel like its on fire after the sugaring. It takes a little getting used to since there are no strips to remove the sugar 'paste'. Her office space is very clean and she wears gloves and does not double dip any of the sugar 'paste' which I like. They offer other services at the Med Spa, which is cool in case you need a facial or a body wrap. I will definitely be back in 3 - 4 weeks. read more
