On June, 23rd 2025, Sandhills Moving & Storage delivered our household goods after they had…read more been stored for two years in the company's climate-controlled facility while our house was undergoing renovations. Prior to storage, we elected full coverage insurance and were assured that the company had extensive experience handling and storing antique and high-value furniture for our sizable amount of belongings in a 6k square foot home. Upon delivery, we discovered that the majority of our items were severely broken or damaged, and nearly all were affected by what appeared to be mold or mildew. Moisture readings on our antique furniture measured approximately 60%, and in some cases, moving blankets had adhered to the surfaces. All of this damage was witnessed and assessed by not only their moving team but a manager they sent out to our home the following day who was in complete shock at the staggering amount of damage. After Sandhills filed our insurance claim, for our elected full insurance, we learned from the insurance carrier that the required paperwork was not fulfilled by Sandhills despite being required under their own policy. This administrative oversight voided our full coverage protection and reduced our compensation to $2.50 per pound, which is far below the replacement value of the affected items. When we initially raised this issue, a manager, Pat, assured us it would be corrected, but subsequent calls were not returned, and our attempts to follow up have been unsuccessful. Pat refuses to speak to us and the secretary hung up on us. All of these conversations have been recorded and we have proof of all statements made by the insurance, Sandhills, their movers, managers, and any/all parties involved because NC is a one party consent to record. My husband and I are both 100% disabled Army veterans with four children, one of whom has a severe disability and Sandhills was abundantly aware of this. Following the delivery, our family has experienced health issues consistent with mold exposure. A licensed mold specialist advised us to seal off all affected items to prevent contamination of our newly renovated home, leaving a significant amount of our belongings to include all major furniture such as living room furniture, bedroom sets, mattresses, and dining room furniture unusable. This situation has caused substantial financial, logistical, emotional, and health challenges for our family. While we understand that mistakes can occur, we are shocked that there has been no meaningful resolution or constructive communication to address the matter and ZERO accountability. I tried to contact the owner Jason Birdsall via phone, email, and his Facebook with no response. We hope that by sharing our experience, others will have the information needed to make an informed decision to look elsewhere during a move or storage need. We are now being forced to pay for a lawyer to seek legal representation in this matter. No family should ever have to suffer like this.

They "moved" me on July 11, 2017 and cheated me by charging me over double what they said it would cost and what they had quoted to me. Also, don't give anyone at Martin's Movers your credit or debit card information. They told me that they wouldn't charge my debit card until I provide them with the security code on the back of the card and only if I was satisfied with the move. The unscrupulous company processed the outrageous charge without the security code and didn't care if I was satisfied or not, which I wasn't. They damaged my brand new sod with the wheels of their truck and have refused to compensate me for it even though they say they are bonded and insured. They have criminals working for them even though they claim that they are a professional company with experienced movers. Everything him and his crew moved for me made it in perfect condition with no dings to the walls or doors. I also really liked that when we made it to my new place, we went through the condo and gave each room a name. So as the crew brought boxes and furniture in, I simply had to tell them which room to put it in. They even helped me assemble the furniture and centered everything. I hired Ted and his crew to unload a 22-foot rental truck in the Charlotte area. On move day, as I had requested, Ted texted me 30 minutes in advance that he was en route. Ted and his 2 helpers, Vlad and Jeremy, showed up on time and started work as soon as I parked and opened the door of the truck. Ted brought all the required equipment (dollies, carts and a handtruck + straps for the mattress) and even provided a battery-operated fan for me to use while I waited on the back of the truck (to keep an eye on all of the stuff), where temperatures in the summer can exceed 100 degrees. That fan kept me cool throughout the move. Ted and his helpers worked very hard for 4 hours to get all of the items into the elevator and up into the apartment. They honored my requests and never once complained about any aspect of the job, including an additional 150-foot walk across the parking garage no one knew about. Everyone was professional, friendly, and very easy to work with. I am happy to report that all items made it safely into the apartment. Ted, Vlad and Jeremy made sure to unwrap all of the items, place them where requested, and to put all of the boxes in the specific room marked on each box. They also re-assembled a table and removed all of the tape from the moving blankets. It was a stress-free experience from start to finish.
