We were here a company holiday party and the food and service were excellent top to bottom. This was my 9th year organizing this event at different restaurants around the city and Mei made the process as seamless as anyone. No issues accommodating our party's dietary restrictions and allergies. Great selection of cocktails, mocktails and wines. We started with a butternut squash soup amuse that was a surprising highlight of the evening. Coming in from the bitter cold to a hot, rich, and slightly spicy soup was a pleasant surprise. The first course consistent of a mezze sampler, ceviche, and beef tartare which were all amazing. Everything throughout the evening had really punchy flavors, textures and visual elements. The second course had a cauliflower gnocchi, scallops with curry, and the duck dilemma -- a delicious duck dish with potato and a caramelized onion puree. Each of those were great. The third course had a stuffed pumpkin/calabaza dish that tasted a bit like Christmas, an unctuous braised short rib, and whole octopus dish that were all outstanding. In between the third course and dessert was a fried maitake dish with bomba rice and a ragu, a wonderful way to bridge the savory third course with a bit of saltiness into the desserts. While shopping and having dinner in the area the weekend prior, we saw this restaurant and based on how it looked at night, we decided that we wanted to give it a try, However, upon review of the menu, there was really nothing that resonated with our palate, so we decided to give Sunday Brunch a try. This time I did not view the menu before going, but I was assured that they had conventional breakfast items, so I would find something to try. We had reservations, so we were seated immediately at the table of our choice, which was great. We needed the perfect background aesthetic, so we had one of the first reservations of the day. Immediately after being seated, our beverage orders were taken. The drinks were brought to the table pretty fast. I ordered some passionfruit juice, sparkling bottled water and still bottled water. Since the menu was still just okay for me, I made a meal by ordering some sides, which included a waffle, scrambled egg whites and some avocado. Honestly, I did not think I could go wrong with breakfast, but I really did not enjoy it. The waffle was very small, lukewarm and something about the flavor was off. The scrambled egg whites were semi-scrambled, so they were a no for me as well. The avocado was truly the only part of the meal that I enjoyed and that was only a few slices. I also enjoyed the passionfruit juice. The prices in comparison to portion sizes were insane. Everything was overpriced, with very small portions and just not that good. I came in for lunch on the extended Restaurant Week menu, and I'm so happy I did! I've been meaning to try Seven Reasons literally since it opened, but somehow hadn't made it in. I started with the Passion Over Perfection, a passionfruit cocktail with a nice kick of spice. Then the beef carpaccio, which was converted in a delicious pile of cheese and salty fried capers. I just wish I had a couple more delicious chips! Then the fish was perfectly cooked, delicate with a great crispy outside, a wonderful earthy puree, and a tangy balsamic sauce. My only tiny complaint was that the fennel was kind of annoying to cut. And then the quesillo was incredible! The menu was a fusion of Venezuelan, Peruvian, and Asian and I am here for it!! I wasn't feeling well during my dining experience so it was very basic with no drinks or desserts. We decided to split 2 menu items... the Lamb Ribs and the Lamb Lo Mein. Both were delicious!! I don't really like a lot of fat and the ribs had a nice soft lining which did give them a gear flavor. The Lo Main was my favorite. All of the spices worked nicely together and they also had a little kick! I will definitely be back next trip to try some more. However, the hamachi portion was surprisingly small for the price (only three sashimi-sized pieces). The bone-in ribeye had great flavor and chimichurri but was slightly overcooked past my requested medium-rare. Additionally, it was listed as 24oz on the menu, but based on experience, it seemed closer to 18oz, including the bone. The ambiance was stylish, but our experience was impacted by other guests using bright lights for photos/videos at their table for an extended time. It would have been helpful if the staff had addressed this, as it was distracting. When asked about our meal, I gave a neutral response, and while the server acknowledged it, they didn't follow up with any questions. This place has a lot of potential--the flavors are there, and the atmosphere is trendy--but the service and attention to detail could use some refinement. The quality of the food and service did not live up to my group's expectations given the price point and reputation of the restaurant. Very different from our individual experiences at Joy in Friendship Heights. I was part of a group of 6 dear foodie friends on a hopping Saturday night. FOOD: The arepitas were terrible; the cilantro-eggplant version was so dense and dry it was inedible, and the sugarcane syrup version was way too sweet and discordant with the others. The tataki had a very unpleasant aftertaste - not sure if it was Sichuan peppers or something else, but it left a metallic aftertaste none of us could shake. The braised short ribs were a goopy mess with a heavy, overly sweet sauce that overwhelmed everything. And the bread basket was very boring, with dense Brazilian rolls, pita, and no butter or oil or any accompaniments. The cocktails, however, were awesome. And we all liked the fried seafood with aioli. SERVICE: The waitstaff were pleasant enough, but left us stranded more than once with empty wine glasses, while tables around us had wine buckets. The waiter did remove the arepitas from our bill when we provided our feedback, so that was appreciated. AMBIANCE: Very loud and chaotic. Our party of 6 could barely hear one another speak. We were in a booth at the back by the open wall, where the food comes out of the kitchen, and the servers were constantly staging large trays of food just behind us to go to other tables, meaning we were assaulted by the smells of other people's dishes constantly through the evening. The dim lighting and colorful flower arrangements really brighten up the place for an intimate, exciting dining experience. We were sat next to the bar, I was worried about foot traffic but it was fine! Though the menu is difficult to navigate, we ultimately decided on oysters and the octopus and lentils to start. I haven't been to Seven Reasons since 2021 where it blew my mind. I went back a few weeks ago for a birthday celebration with a friend and while it was a good experience, it just wasn't the same as that first time. The new space in City Center is absolutely gorgeous and much bigger than the 14th street space. It just has such a beautiful ambiance and the decor was Cherry Blossom focused. In terms of the menu, they do offer a tasting but now offer a la carte as well and we opted for that. I started with a cocktail that was Maker's Mark but mixed with passionfruit and my friend had a martini. The chef starts you off with an amuse bouche that was butternut squash soup and absolutely delicious. We had the following: Ceviche - full of ALL the fish and was delicious but definitely hard to share with two people Scallops - big and cooked perfectly and with a fantastic curry sauce Gnocchi - creamy and so good, not your typical gnocchi dish Holly breakfast - such a different dish but the chorizo was the star Lobster cavatelli - everything in this dish was undercooked, the pasta was a little too hard and the lobster needed a few more minutes, the sauce was meh Rice from the Woods - I liked this but 1) I was so full, 2) the mushrooms were a little too big and challenging to eat and 3) it was a bit too sweet but loved how the rice was sticky & chewy and you can to scrape it up It's hard to repeat the magic of a first experience at a restaurant where it just blows you away and I admit I'm a little disappointed with my second visit to Seven Reasons. It was unique, crispy and tender at the same time, great combination of texture and tastes. The girls and I had a great experience at brunch here. The restaurant was quiet and spacious with nice decor. We ordered the bottomless house brut for the mimosas and loved that we could try different juices of with it. Our server was very informative and kept the mimosas flowing. For the food, I really enjoyed the empanadas and the sauce they came with they need to bottle and sell it, it was that good. I also enjoyed the criollo skillet platter I had but i don't think I'm a fan of the arepas or maybe arepas in general. I found them a little dry, that didn't stop me from eating them all though. I went to Seven Reasons to celebrate my birthday, and it was a fantastic experience. I loved the aesthetic of the restaurant, and my friends and I were able to sit at a cool-looking table. I often find tapas style restaurants difficult as a vegetarian, as most of my friends eat meat and it's difficult to share food when we eat different things. Even so, there were plenty of vegetarian options - I loved the cauliflower gnocchi and the whole cauliflower. We also were able to keep the meal fairly affordable for each person despite ordering a substantial amount of food, although we didn't indulge in any of the expensive meats on the "for the table" section of the menu. The dessert was also amazing and should not be skipped - the guava cheesecake was creamy and smooth and colorful and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. My only complaint is that I was hoping for a bit of special birthday magic, so to say - I used the designated section of the reservation to mention that it was my birthday but it took a friend telling our server to put a candle in the dessert to get anything special. Because the desserts are somewhat extravagant, the candle couldn't go in what we ordered, so I was given a plate with two chocolate bars on it and a candle stuck to the plate. It felt a bit lackluster, though I appreciated the effort. Our server was otherwise very helpful and led us on a great tour of the menu. He told us how much to order for a full meal and I felt that it was a fairly accurate, as I was full after and we didn't leave any leftovers. Started off super well. Server was 10/10 & appetizers were 10/10 but our entree took over an hour to come out after ordering it & when it did come out it was not good.. I was rooting for it since our server was so cool & he recommended it but man that was just the tip of the iceberg since it took so long to come out. An hour after ordering it is crazy! There was no way I couldn't say anything & they just ended up not charging us for the entree. Sadly I would not recommend coming here especially with how expensive it is. read more

Stumbled on this place through yelp and thought I'd check it out for brunch. Visually, Seven Reasons is a beautiful restaurant located in a nice walkable area. The staff and service were well dressed and polite. Unfortunately, the food was a big miss for me. Ordered the Chicken and waffles as a "safe" bet but it just wasn't good so I don't suggest it. I'm definitely willing to try maybe lunch or dinner here so take my rating with a grain of salt. Just don't order the chicken and waffles lol. read more

Came for happy hour and we definitely plan to come again for dinner. A must try is the ""Not your traditional pina colada". OMG talk about tropical fruity drink bliss. That foam/mousse on top is divine and the cardamom almost made it seem Indian which just made this desi girl's heart sing. Just glorious. The Old fashioned was, per my husband, a classic old fashioned. The Complimentary watermelon gazpacho was light, refreshing, and served in such cute martini glasses we got the Arepitas as a snack to nibble on. They were fried but not greasy. Cheesey without being overwhelming. Hubby just kept saying "on point" and silently ate most of it leaving me less than half. Sure it's pricey but we were out celebrating our anniversary and this was a great place to kick things off. Looking forward to coming back for dinner. read more

Longtime friends, six of us, had one if of our most memorable and enjoyable dinners at Seven Reasons. Some reviews made me nervous, but dish after dish was delicious. We ordered the family feast at $105 each, not a small price but wow was it worth it. One of us does not eat fish, so they tailored the menu a bit. Bring a good appetite! The team will bring plate after plate of interesting, delicious food. Service was very good. So happy we ate here! read more
