What a pleasure to find this small, family-run Italian market here on Haddon Ave. The staff here is so so nice, and there are always little samples of cheese or sausage here and there. I stopped by on a beautiful weekend afternoon when I had a lingering feeling that I was going to have to unexpectedly feed a bunch of hungry people at home who were "popping by." Severino's had everything I needed for dinner - delicious meaty sauce and a crusty loaf of seeded Italian rustic bread. After I paid for both, I spotted stromboli with cheese and spinach and had to add that to the pile too to stick in the freezer for future feedings. That night, I threw a big pile of spaghetti into a boiling pot and supplemented the Severino meaty sauce with some Roselli's meat sauce when I saw that I needed more. The entire table of guests ate everything up. The loaf of bread, heated gently for half an hour, was warm and perfect for sopping up the sauce after being buttered. A simple, tasty, filling and fast meal put together with Severino's help - yay! read more

I may be missing something amazing about this place but the food here left much to be desired. While the service was fast and we found a variety of pasta selection, the food at Severino was disappointing. Perhaps this is the only decent fresh pasta store that locals adore to support. I was shocked at the prices and mediocre taste of food that left much to be desired. The $6.00+ pesto was extremely salty. The prices are not listed and not on the products so you'll only come to find that a two tier ravioli comes up to $9.99. I see now that I had a high standard since I am use to Raffetto's in NYC. It's shocking that a local pasta shop in Soho sells better quality fresh pasta at 30%-40% lower prices compared to Severino's. What's up, South Jersey? Never again will I patronize this establishment. Last week I went to Severino's to buy fresh ravioli @ 1:35 pm. Upon entering I noticed the machines were all covered up and the employees were busy with other customers. I figured I was late so I left. Told my wife what happened and she messaged Carla one of the owners and today Feb 16 they spoke on the phone and Carla told my wife that they have fresh ravioli behind the counter. Ok so my fault for not waiting. I wasn't mad or upset figuring I got there late anyway. Today Feb 16 I go down to get fresh ravioli. Arrived @ 1:27 pm and asked for three dozen ravioli. The young man who took my order comes back with three dozen Frozen and says they ran out. How do you run out at 1:27 pm? Unfortunately Carla was not in today when I went down. One of her brothers was there. After being told that they have fresh ravioli behind the counter I came away empty handed. This is extremely poor customer service. I did not drive from Moorestown for frozen ravioli that I can buy at the local market. I'm very disappointed in what happened today and I will be taking my business elsewhere. I suppose it's more important to leave at closing time rather than satisfy your customers and all this after being told that they've stayed late to fulfill customer orders when they show up at closing. read more

They supply a lot of restaurants, but also I found out about them through our local Whole Foods which is where I first tried the ravioli. For years I have shopped at Severino's, since 1970 to be exact. I have never ever had a bad experience. You can not go wrong buying all the fresh product they sell. An entire meal for sure, one stop shopping. We have now moved to South Carolina and we sorely miss Severino's we went up for the weekend, I buy as much as I have room for and take back to SC to share with the whole family!! This was my first time stopping in after a year of trying to figure out what kind of store this place was as well as what time they are opened. Well, I finally coordinated my timing & made it with pleasure.. They had samples of cheeses, spreads and dips to savor during my visit but I am sure they do this all the time. I ended up getting eggplant Parmesan to go. What a tasty dish. Eggplant was tender and the sauce and cheese gave it a acidic, tangy and sweet flavor. Boy, was the 4 by 6 " piece that I had was filling. I tried to stop eating and save some for later but my taste buds were having too much fun devouring this dish. Will be back soon to try other pasta, cheeses and meats at this Italian shop. No wonder thay have been around for year, if the eggplant is any indication of how yummy things are I'm a Fan. read more

But the Severino family definitely do pasta right, and they're so easy to work with that they definitely need to be acknowledged on something like Yelp! And what they offer is so simple that it's ingenious. pick up fresh and gourmet pasta with the homemade touch in a freezer. boil it in water as directed and your good to go. And let's talk about some of those flavors that they offer. Goat cheese and mixed green ravioli, Humane Maine lobster ravioli, Buckwheat Soba fettuccine, roasted pumpkin ravioli with pumpkin dough! I have never found frozen macaroni and cheese as good as theirs (except Howard Johnson's which was discontinued long ago). Whole Foods sells it and I love it! Love the pasta here. It's made fresh by them and they have varieties you wouldn't be able to find elsewhere. I'm a huge fan of the stuffed pastas like the sweet potato gnocchi and the grilled portabella ravioli. The downside-much more expensive than buying it at the grocery store but it does taste a thousand times better. If you're planning on a dinner party, buy the pasta here if you want to impress your guests. Great place to go on a lunch break-they usually have a bunch of selections of cheese, crackers, breads, and other foods. You can actually fill up just from the tastings. read more

Oops! I was wrong in my previous review when I said that Severino pastas only come frozen or dried. Some varieties are also available fresh. I know this because I have a pound of whole wheat fettuccine packaged neatly in a little box, ready for dinner tonight. Another thing I noticed while in the store today is that the cheese selection is no joke. I literally swooned when I saw a big block of etorki, which I previously thought was only available at DiBruno Brothers (in this area, anyway). If you've ever been stuck behind some guy at Severino who wanted to sample every cheese that they sold and to ask countless questions about their pastas and prepared foods, that was probably me. I'm sorry about that. It's annoying, I know, but this is my candy store. For a shop that has little shelf space to showcase products, Severino sure does offer a lot. So much of it is tucked away on a crowded shelf or display case, or not visible at all that it takes a while to find what you really want. As a result, jerks like me hold up the line. Meanwhile, the mom behind me rolls her eyes because she just wants to get her lasagna and get out of there to heat up dinner for the family. So it goes. My tip: Although their pastas may steal the spotlight, they have an underrated selection of nuts. Try the Piedras Chocolate, Tres Toffee Almonds, or Macarona Almonds. read more

Ironically, I've heard about the local pasta company, but could not find it, cuz Yelp has a slightly wrong address, listing Collingswood instead of Westmont (fixed now) and I was entirely too stupid to put two and two together until recently.. Very glad that I did... Their pasta is great... There is a very good selection of cheeses and the prices are either competitive or better than everyone around (especially if you like Spanish cheeses).... It's hard to elaborate on the good reviews, so let me pass along the highest compliment I can. My eleven year old son and I had picked up some fresh pasta, the basic red marinara that I could eat like soup, and some fresh meatballs. "Why does this taste so much better than any other spaghetti and meatballs dad?" Yeah, that pretty much says it all. It is absolutely great. I'll have to check and see if they have an organic line next time I'm in. Try their vinegar (not pickled) olives, made in house, for a nice alternative to the standard olive in your martini. Cheese and accompaniments such as chutneys and jellies abound, each more delicious than the last, with a fun selection of imported nibblies and snack items lining the shelves. It can get cramped in there, and you'll want to go early before they run out of fresh specialty pasta such as saffron and spinach, but oh boy is it worth the trip. Pricing is reasonable, though I usually have about $100 worth of stuff in my bag by the time I walk out, though that will keep me going for a few weeks easy! read more

Several recent visits and this place is as fabulous as it was. I am now convinced there raviolis are the best in the Philadelphia area and their spaghetti and linguine and other pasta products are in the top 3 if not the best. Have had some of the home made me such as turkey and ham products and some of the prepared foods recently and everything has been great. they get fabulous bread delivered from Calandra's and other local fabulous Italian bakeries. They are very generous with samples and service has been excellent the last few times we have been there. read more

This place is just awesome. I walked in the other day to buy some fresh pasta sheets for making lasagna, and Mama Severino was helping customers at the cash register! She was absolutely adorable, I really felt like I was in her kitchen and we were chatting about our day together. The staff there is awesome, and it really is impressive how many products including an impressive cheese selection are crammed into the long thin storefront. This is THE place to go for fresh or frozen pasta, or a gift, or lunch, or dinner, or snacks.... It's not cheap and the parking lot is small, but it's well worth it! Oh Severinos, whats not to love about homemade pasta and sauce?!? Every single pasta variety that I've tried (fresh, frozen or dried) has been delicious. The meatballs are as close as you can get to my Italian father's recipe (although Dad's are better), these are a perfectly fine substitution if you don't want to do all the work. They also offer a nice selection of cheeses- my husband loves the stinky provolone while I prefer their fresh mozzarella. In addition to their store, they offer gourmet-to-go catering. I used them this weekend and was delighted with everything we received. The South Philly roast pork was amazing; it came pulled in a large tray and accompanied by provolone, roasted red peppers, and broccoli rabe. Chicken kabobs were large and had a nice mix of veggies. I wouldn't hesitate to use Severinos for all my future catering needs (including those weeks when I just don't feel like cooking dinner!) read more

Servino is an excellent little Italian grocery in Westmont. Tons of artisan cheese and meat options. Fresh pasta galore. Imported olive oil and other Italian treats as well. The woman behind the counter was rather friendly and even gave us a few samples.. Parking can be a little hard to get in and out of as it's a small lot, but there is also some street parking in the area. I'll definitely be returning. read more

I was offered free Vegan Broccoli and Cheddar Gnocchi to try as they are currently marketing it. I went home and sautéed mushrooms and garlic with olive oil to combine with the gnocchi. It was very good, I would definitely suggest buying it, good taste and flavor. Wouldn't have guessed theyre vegan! read more
