I love this place. The food is always very good, and I have food restrictions for which they are super accommodating. The servers are all excellent, nice people, and after going there a few times they remembered me and the things my wife and I can't eat, so we don't even have to be especially careful like in other places. When we order something they just automatically tell us what's in it and whether or not it can be modified for us. I cannot say enough good things about Fieni's! My friend and I came on a Monday night and the crowded parking lot was a good sign this place must be good. We started off with fresh bread, made in-house, and a bottle of wine from Saddlehill Winery. (They sell bottles from the winery up the road.) bread was nice and crispy. For appetizers we did the clams casino and calamari. The clams casino were loaded with fresh red peppers and bacon and had a great smoky taste. The calamari was some of the best I've ever had! They don't use batter for the squid and it was still so crunchy and flavorful. The marinara was exquisite. For entrees I had the chicken francese which was battered well, and had a tangy lemony taste. Served with snap peas and mashed potatoes. My friend had the chicken parm and the spaghetti it was served with, as simple as it looked, was phenomenal. The chicken parm was a classic and fantastic choice, served with a nice oozing amount of cheese. We shared the ravioli Di aragosta which was stuffed extremely well with lobster and crabmeat and topped with carrot sauce! The carrot sauce was better than I expected, very creamy and light. Definitely a unique time to try. We ended the night with housemade tiramisu and Italian rum cake. Both desserts were so moist and tasty, not overly sweet, and light which made a perfect post-dinner treat. We also sampled their housemade limoncello which was so smooth and lemony! Safe to say I was blown away with the food. Everything is prepared fresh here and you can taste the passion in the dining. The owners are husband and wife, and Mr. Fieni does the cooking while Mrs. Fieni does the baking. What a perfect team! I love the simple collaborative approach they have. To top it off, the service was incredible. We had people checking in with us all night and our server was so friendly and personable. We frequent Fieni's. A res. is a must . Even with a res expect to wait a bit. But believe me the cuisine is well worth the wait. Our last visit was my 60th birthday and we had a blast. We had a party of 8 and it was aprox $60 per person and believe me we ordered all of the family apps and a few of the specials. I finally got to visit this place. It's a small house converted into a restaurant with huge flavor. We were greeted by the extremely friendly staff and waiter and taken to our table. We enjoyed a bottle of wine they offer from the local winery. We got the clams casino which were delicious! The big piece of bacon on top was unbelievable. For Entrees we had the tortellini bolognese which was delicious. We also had the shrimp and lobster pasta and I had the zuppa de pesce in a Fra diavlo sauce. It was outstanding! The portions themselves were huge! Enough for a second meal. And the top that off you got either a super salad. We all had the soup which had pasta in it and chicken broth that was velvety smooth. And for dessert they serve huge chunks of tiramisu or chocolate mousse cake! Make sure you leave room cuz that was delicious as well. Very expensive and service was spotty. I had to beg to have my ice tea refilled, understand the poor writing on the bill, and then beg for someone to take the check all the while the main server was chatting with a table behind me. The calamari as plentiful but lacked taste. We had to add a decent amount of salt to it. I got the veal with eggplant and mozzarella cheese that tasted alright but nothing outstanding. Homemade dessert consisting of chocolate peanut butter cake was good, but not working the $12. Would have gotten the salmon special but they wanted $40 for it-Yikes! It was super loud for half the meal because of a large table behind us whereby a very loud woman was seemingly talking super loud and laughing like crazy. Decent place, but not comfortable, food is just OK, and the pricing was high. Won't be in a hurry to return. read more

I rarely allow myself pasta--maybe once every few months--so when I do indulge, I want it to be memorable. I chose this restaurant specifically for what I hoped would be an exceptional Italian experience and ordered one of their most expensive dishes at $37. What arrived was shockingly disappointing. The seafood linguine featured exactly four tiny shrimp, one scallop, and roughly half a teaspoon of crabmeat. For that price point, the portion was insulting. The pasta came with a few spoonfuls of completely bland marinara sauce that tasted like it came straight from a jar with no seasoning. Even more frustrating, the bottom half of the pasta was bone dry--no sauce whatsoever. The entire dish was so undersalted it reminded me of hospital food where sodium is severely restricted. The whole experience felt like something straight out of Kitchen Nightmares--like a chef who's made this dish so many times they've stopped caring and just slapped something together with minimal effort. When I tried to give polite feedback on the way out, the guy at the front cut me off with, "WHAT? YOU WANT EXTRA SAUCE?"--unnecessarily rude. The only bright spot was our waitress, who was excellent, and the reason this isn't a 1‑star review. I truly don't understand the high ratings. I had to update, even though with the same 5 star review! Fieni's has such delicious, big portioned food, and has done a great job during this crappy COVID period. I got my parents a gift card for their anniversary, that they used last night. My dad got the chicken parm (a favorite of mine) , and my mom, the eggplant parm (insanely delicious) with a side of gnocchi, which are incredible! This morning my dad gave me his leftovers - it honest to God doesn't look like he ate any of his dish last night, which I KNOW he did! I will enjoy HALF for lunch today, and the other half, tomorrow! THAT's how MUCH food they give you! Fieni's prices are very fair for what you get and slays their competition, in my humble opinion! (Only comparable in this area is Tarantella's). They have been around for many, many, years, and I don't see them going out of business, thank God, anytime soon! Very nice small Italian restaurant! Great ambiance, service and food!!!!! I would definitely go back here again. It is a BYOB so grab a nice bottle of wine and enjoy! The only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating was because we had a reservation at 7:45 and we didn't get seated until 8:30. We were a large party of 13 so apparently the group that was dinning at our table didn't get in any hurry to leave. We were starving and there isn't any place to sit down and wait for your table. Wow! Everything we ordered was out of this world. I've traveled throughout Italy and remarked to my cousin how delicious,including the bread was. Where do you order your bread? The ambience was cozy and all tables were filled with friendly patrons. Never once did we have to wait. To top the evening off,Dennis must have overheard me telling someone it was my 66th birthday. It was really good & not a typical dish I'd go for. We had the calamari appetizer, pretty fair, but I looked at our friends app and was jealous of the clams casino. My guy housed his food. I don't even know what to tell you he ordered. Each table has fresh bread with Italian seasoning oil. Service was a bit slower than average....we waited for a host to grab us for our reservation for about 10 minutes. Pretty much just waiting for a table to leave... guessing they went over their time. Horrible service that I have not experienced in years. They are certainly not understaffed because there were a lot of waiters running back and forth past our table but couldn't seem to get any attention. Bread was ICE COLD which was more confusing than anything. Calamari was ok. Roasted pepper burrata was just a pile of roasted pepper on a plate with burr on top. No toasted crostinis nothing to eat it with. Would've went with warm bread but couldn't seem to locate our waiter to get some ICE COLD bread to eat it with. Lobster Rav was ok. Others thought their meals were just ok nothing to come back for. We went without refills for about 20-25 minutes. We flagged down someone who wasn't our waiter to ask for refills of water and DC. Another 15 minutes go by. By the time our waiter asked us how our food came out it was practically over. We asked for new grated Parmesan because our shaker was covered in sauce to the point where the holes were clogged pretty gross. Somehow Fieni's is so close to home, yet we've just discovered this hidden gem! We enjoyed a dinner on the small back patio on a Friday night during a thunderstorm. We loved it! We started with a charcuterie plate, enjoyed soup and salad, moved on to pasta and finished with cake. Overall, it was lovely. I really enjoyed the soup, it was the perfect rainy day meal. Nice to also note they gave complimentary bread, oil and olives! This is always highly appreciated in my book. However, for my experience most of the food was underwhelming. The appetizer special was burrata and roasted red peppers and while it was good, it seemed like a disproportionate amount of red peppers to burrata. The white wine mussels had very little flavor. It just kind of tasted like butter. The mussels themselves were large, fresh, and delicious. The scripelle soup was great! My entree was incredible! I got the chocolate mouse cake for dessert and it just didn't taste fresh. My friends were also surprised by the cake and mussels. However, due to reviews and my entree, I would 100% go back and try again. The service was great. The server was knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and charismatic. The ambiance was nice. I first came to Fienis for my best friends rehearsal dinner for her wedding some 5 years ago. I have since been back a handful of times when in New Jersey and always leave with a full and happy belly. From the outside, the restaurant looks like a converted house, (which I think it may be). I love this aspect of it as it gives you the warm feeling of being welcomed into an intimate warm dinner. It is a bit on the smaller side, so always a good idea to make a reservation, especially on the weekends. The service is always top notch, friendly, timely, and on point. I've tried a handful of dishes, and yet to have something I really didn't like. Most meals come with soup or salad. I prefer the salad here as the scarpelli soup noodles have been a bit over cooked for my liking, as I prefer a much more al dente noodle.
