Unfortunately for my husband and I, we had a place to be and didn't plan on losing 3 hours of our day to Casaju. We were stuck at Casaju for so long, I got a sunburn... in the shade. I wish I was kidding. We waited about fifteen minutes for a table, and then were escorted by a very friendly manager to our table. The wait for service was proper Island time and was to be expected... but after the wait of almost TWO HOURS after ordering to get our food, Casaju put island time to shame. During our wait, my husband realized that he hadn't seen our waitress in quite some time. So long was our wait that I wondered if she went home and the restaurant forgot to make sure we got our ordered food. We didn't want to be those idiot Americans who complained about the Island time wait (we all have seen those reviews), so we sat and smiled and waited... and waited... and waited. Finally, our waitress reappeared and brought our food. At this point, I had gone beyond hungry, hangry, and then starving, and had now reached a full blown loss of appetite. Typically, when food is SO late to arrive, you would anticipate that it is freshly cooked due to a delayed kitchen trying to catch up... our plates were burning hot, like they had been sitting under a warmer for the last hour. Yikes. The ribs I ordered were very good, but pretty fatty and oddly missing the bones- my sour stomach could only handle three ribs before I had to tap out. The rice and beans that I ordered on the side were the worst I had in PR. Two wild dogs joined us on the patio, keeping us all company as we waited another thirty minutes for the check. We left running to the car, very sad to have lost the day to a mediocre meal... but I was even more sad to realize that I had been sitting in the shade for so long that the indirect Puerto Rican sun had burnt my entire body to a bright red crisp. This is a spot to skip.

The views from this place are amazing. Such a cute farm to table restaurant. Came here for lunch…read moreafter a coffee tour so we were hungry. It was a. Nice breezy day and we got to sit right by the pond. The service is a little slow so we were a little rushed at the end eating since we had a 90 min drive back to the Arecibo area for a tour. Our waitress was nice but seemed a bit busy/distracted. So we didn't get as much attention to order quickly and have our drinks come out, etc... We ordered drinks to start. We also got a water for the table and just remember you have to pay per person for waters... we ordered a few apps/small dishes to share including the tomato with balsamic which was basically a caprese salad. They were out of the watermelon salad (which was a pitty after she told us about it and it was a special and we were then craving it. They had not opened until 11:30 which is when we went so just seems like they didn't have the ingredients/plan for the ingredients). We also got the LENTILS WITH TOMATO SOFRITO, COCONUT WATER, ANNATTO OIL, HERBS, AND CRISPY PLANTAIN. SERVED WITH COCONUT RICE. This was my absolute favorite dish. Just so much flavor butting in your mouth. I had gotten. Mojito drink which was also very refreshing. For my meal, I was feeling the fish since it was one of the popular dishes. It did take a while to come out but it was deliciously seasoned and garnished. It came with a side and I had gotten the beans and rice. I just could not finish it all since we had to rush to a tour since the food took a while to come out. Overall, we all had full tummies and enjoyed our food. The service could have been a bit better with the waitress being more attentive but it was a gorgeous day and we're glad we experienced this place.

This is PR's version of upscale dining so plan on it being on the pricer side but it was worth it!…read moreThe ambiance is special. You park at the bottom of the hill and walk up to the restaurant. The kitchen is open with the massive wood fired grill being the centerpoint. Want to check it out closer? Just ask! They'll bring you back. We order the skirt steak, octopus carpaccio, prawns with romesco, whole fish, pumpkin, and kale salad. All were fabulous. The octopus is always on the menu while the other entrees vary depending on what is in season. Make sure you order this!

It was recommended by one of our tour guides so it is a great option for both locals and tourists. It had a nice atmosphere and very large menu with many different types of options. The Frutti di mare was one of the best pastas I've ever had! It had almost every type of seafood you could want. A great option for someone who wants to try a bit of everything. It was large enough to satisfy you but not too large where you have to take leftovers it back to your hotel. It also came with a salad and delicious bread. My husband ordered the yucafongo pollo, and was very impressed. It was also filling and well made. The drink menu also had a lot of options. I went with the sangria which was super tasty! It's more on the fruity side. Our service was great and we didn't have to wait long for a table or our food, although it seemed busy. Whether you live in the area or are just on vacation, I would recommended trying it out!

We visited La Cueva del Mar for my wife's birthday dinner during our family trip to Puerto Rico,…read moreand despite a few minor issues, the meal itself was absolutely outstanding. The service was a little confusing at first. We were seated and expected to access the menu through a QR code, which wasn't immediately explained to us. We initially expected traditional menus, so there was a bit of uncertainty before we realized how the ordering process worked. We were also seated near one of the air conditioning units, which made some members of our party feel a bit cold during the meal. However, once the food arrived, all of those concerns quickly disappeared. The food was incredible. Rich, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, every dish at the table was delicious. The arroz con pollo was honestly the best I have ever had in my life. It was perfectly seasoned, comforting, and packed with flavor. Every bite felt like authentic Puerto Rican cooking at its best. Our family thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and it made for a wonderful birthday dinner for my wife. While the service experience could be a little clearer and some seating areas may be colder than others, the quality of the food more than makes up for those minor issues. I would absolutely return on a future visit to Puerto Rico.
